| 4 | Adsorption of mixed cationic-nonionic surfactant and its effect on bentonite structure显示文摘The adsorption of cationic-nonionic mixed surfactant onto bentonite and its effect on bentonite structure were investigated.The objective was to improve the understanding of surfactant behavior on clay mineral for its possible use in remediation technologies of soil and groundwater contaminated by toxic organic compounds.The cationic surfactant used was hexadecylpyridinium bromide(HDPB),and the nonionic surfactant was Triton X-100(TX100).Adsorption of TX100 was enhanced significantly by the addition of HDPB,but this enhancement decreased with an increase in the fraction of the cationic surfactant.Part of HDPB was replaced by TX100 which decreased the adsorption of HDPB.However,the total adsorbed amount of the mixed surfactant was still increased substantially,indicating the synergistic effect between the cationic and nonionic surfactants.The surfactant-modified bentonite was characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area measurement,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,and thermogravimetric-derivative thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyses.Surfactant intercalation was found to decrease the bentonite specific surface area,pore volume,and surface roughness and irregularities,as calculated by nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms.The co-adsorption of the cationic and nonionic surfactants increased the ordering conformation of the adsorbed surfactants on bentonite,but decreased the thermal stability of the organobentonite system. | Yaxin Zhang Yan Zhao Yong Zhu Huayong Wu Hongtao Wang Wenjing Lu | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,8: | 12 |

| 6 | Plasma metabolomic and lipidomic alterations associated with COVID-19显示文摘The pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a global public health crisis.The symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe,but the physiological changes associated with COVID-19 are barely understood.In this study,we performed targeted metabolomic and lipidomic analyses of plasma from a cohort of patients with COVID-19 who had experienced different symptoms.We found that metabolite and lipid alterations exhibit apparent correlation with the course of disease in these patients,indicating that the development of COVID-19 affected their whole-body metabolism.In particular,malic acid of the TCA cycle and carbamoyl phosphate of the urea cycle result in altered energy metabolism and hepatic dysfunction,respectively.It should be noted that carbamoyl phosphate is profoundly down-regulated in patients who died compared with patients with mild symptoms.And,more importantly,guanosine monophosphate(GMP),which is mediated not only by GMP synthase but also by CD39 and CD73,is significantly changed between healthy subjects and patients with COVID-19,as well as between the mild and fatal cases.In addition,dyslipidemia was observed in patients with COVID-19.Overall,the disturbed metabolic patterns have been found to align with the progress and severity of COVID-19.This work provides valuable knowledge about plasma biomarkers associated with COVID-19 and potential therapeutic targets,as well as an important resource for further studies of the pathogenesis of COVID-19. | Di Wu Ting Shu Xiaobo Yang Jian-Xin Song Mingliang Zhang Chengye Yao Wen Liu Muhan Huang Yuan Yu Qingyu Yang Tingju Zhu Jiqian Xu Jingfang Mu Yaxin Wang Hong Wang Tang Tang Yujie Ren Yongran Wu Shu-Hai Lin Yang Qiu Ding-Yu Zhang You Shang Xi Zhou | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,7: | 9 |
| 7 | Advances in alternating electromagnetic field data processing for earthquake monitoring in China显示文摘The alternating electromagnetic(EM) field is one of the most sensitive physical fields related to earthquakes. There have been a number of publications reporting EM anomalies associated with earthquakes. With increasing applications and research of artificial-source extremely low frequency EM and satellite EM technologies in earthquake studies, the amount of observed data from the alternating EM method increases rapidly and exponentially, so it is imperative to develop suitable and effective methods for processing and analyzing the influx of big data. This paper presents research on the self-adaptive filter and wavelet techniques and their applications to analyzing EM data obtained from ground measurements and satellite observations, respectively. Analysis results show that the self-adaptive filter method can identify both natural- and artificial-source EM signals, and enhance the ratio between signal and noise of EM field spectra, apparent resistivity, and others. The wavelet analysis is capable of detecting possible correlation between EM anomalies and seismic events. | 8 | Graphene TiO_2 nanocomposites with high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of sodium pentachlorophenol显示文摘A series of graphene–TiO2photocatalysts was synthesized by doping TiO2 with graphene oxide via hydrothermal treatment. The photocatalytic capability of the catalysts under ultraviolet irradiation was evaluated in terms of sodium pentachlorophenol(PCP-Na) decomposition and mineralization. The structural and physicochemical properties of these nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, N2adsorption–desorption, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectra, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The graphene–TiO2nanocomposites exhibited higher photocatalytic efficiency than commercial P25 for the degradation of PCP-Na, and 63.4% to 82.9% of the total organic carbon was fully mineralized. The improved photocatalytic activity may be attributed to the accelerated interfacial electron-transfer process and the significantly prolonged lifetime of electron-hole pairs imparted by graphene sheets in the nanocomposites. For this pur- pose, the C60 derivative C60(C(COOH)2)2, a thera- peutic agent for degeneration diseases of central nervous system, was synthesized, purified and characterized. Its interaction with the living cell and penetration of the cellular membrane were in situ studied using the real time imaging technique, and its potential cytotoxicity was also examined by flow cy- tometry. The results indicate that C60(C(COOH)2)2 can easily enter cells, and is mainly located in cytoplasm by fluorescein labeling. Furthermore, C60(C(COOH)2)2 can carry the molecule that cannot cross cellular membranes into cells, because fluo- rescein compound itself cannot enter the cell or ad- here to membrane. | 12 | Multicenter phaseⅡstudy of apatinib single or combination therapy in HER2-negative breast cancer involving chest wall metastasis显示文摘Objective:Breast cancer(BC)with chest wall metastasis(CWM)usually shows rich neovascularization.This trial explored the clinical effect of apatinib on human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-negative advanced BC involving CWM.Methods:This trial involved four centers in China and was conducted from September 2016 to March 2020.Patients received apatinib 500 mg/d[either alone or with endocrine therapy if hormone receptor-positive(HR+)]until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.Progression-free survival(PFS)was the primary endpoint.Results:We evaluated 26 patients for efficacy.The median PFS(mPFS)and median overall survival(mOS)were4.9[range:2.0-28.5;95%confidence interval(95%CI):2.1-8.3]months and 18(range:3-55;95%CI:12.9-23.1)months,respectively.The objective response rate(ORR)was 42.3%(11/26),and the disease-control rate was76.9%(20/26).In the subgroup analysis,HR+patients compared with HR-negative patients had significantly improved mPFS of 7.0(95%CI:2.2-11.8)months vs.2.3(95%CI:1.2-3.4)months,respectively(P=0.001);and mPFS in patients without or with chest wall radiotherapy was 6.4(95%CI:1.6-19.5)months vs.3.0(95%CI:1.3-4.6)months,respectively(P=0.041).In the multivariate analysis,HR+status was the only independent predictive factor for favorable PFS(P=0.014).Conclusions:Apatinib was highly effective for BC patients with CWM,especially when combined with endocrine therapy.PFS improved significantly in patients with HR+status who did not receive chest wall radiotherapy.However,adverse events were serious and should be carefully monitored from the beginning of apatinib treatment. | Huiping Li Cuizhi Geng Hongmei Zhao Hanfang Jiang Guohong Song Jiayang Zhang Yaxin Liu Xinyu Gui Jing Wang Kun Li Zhongsheng Tong Fangyuan Zhao Junlan Yang Guoliang Chen Qianyu Liu Xu Liang | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,2: | 4 |

| 18 | Observation and research of deep underground multi-physical fields—Huainan–848 m deep experiment显示文摘Compared with the surface,the deep environment has the advantages of allowing“super-quiet and ultra-clean”-geophysical field observation with low vibration noise and little electromagnetic interference,which are conducive to the realization of long-term and high-precision observation of multi-physical fields,thus enabling the solution of a series of geoscience problems.In the Panyidong Coal Mine,where there are extensive underground tunnels at the depth of 848 m below sea level,we carried out the first deep-underground geophysical observations,including radioactivity,gravity,magnetic,magnetotelluric,background vibration and six-component seismic observations.We concluded from these measurements that(1)the background of deep subsurface gravity noise in the long-period frequency band less than 2 Hz is nearly two orders of magnitude weaker than that in the surface observation environment;(2)the underground electric field is obviously weaker than the surface electric field,and the relatively high frequency of the underground field,greater than 1 Hz,is more than two orders of magnitude weaker than that of the surface electric field;the east-west magnetic field underground is approximately the same as that at the surface;the relatively high-frequency north-south magnetic field underground,below 10 Hz,is at least one order of magnitude lower than that at the surface,showing that the underground has a clean electromagnetic environment;(3)in addition to the highfrequency and single-frequency noises introduced by underground human activities,the deep underground space has a significantly lower background vibration noise than the surface,which is very beneficial to the detection of weak earthquake and gravity signals;and(4)the underground roadway support system built with ferromagnetic material interferes the geomagnetic field.We also found that for deep observation in the“ultra-quiet and ultra-clean”environment,the existing geophysical equipment and observation technology have problems of poor adaptability and insufficient precision as well as data cleaning problems,such as the effective separation of the signal and noise of deep observation data.It is also urgent to interpret and comprehensively utilize these high-precision multi-physics observation data. | Yun WANG Yaxin YANG Heping SUN Chengliang XIE Qisheng ZHANG Xiaoming CUI Chang CHEN Yongsheng HE Qiangqiang MIAO Chaomin MU Lianghui GUO Jiwen TENG | 2023 | Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,1: | 3 |

Overexpression of PDCD5 facilitates apoptosis in various tumor cells. Here, we investigated the roles of recombinant human PDCD5 (rhPDCD5) protein in chemosensitivities of hematologic malignancies. The rhPDCD5 increased the in vitro cytotoxicity of daunorubicin (DNR), adriamycin (ADM) and As2O3 in three hematologic tumor cell lines. In vivo studies showed that DNR combined with rhPDCD5 significantly suppressed tumor growth of U937 xenograft nude mice compared with DNR alone. | 20 | Solitary beam propagation in periodic layered Kerr media enables high-efficiency pulse compression and mode self-cleaning显示文摘Generating intense ultrashort pulses with high-quality spatial modes is crucial for ultrafast and strong-field science and can be achieved by nonlinear supercontinuum generation(SCG)and pulse compression.In this work,we propose that the generation of quasi-stationary solitons in periodic layered Kerr media can greatly enhance the nonlinear lightmatter interaction and fundamentally improve the performance of SCG and pulse compression in condensed media.With both experimental and theoretical studies,we successfully identify these solitary modes and reveal their unified condition for stability.Space-time coupling is shown to strongly influence the stability of solitons,leading to variations in the spectral,spatial and temporal profiles of femtosecond pulses.Taking advantage of the unique characteristics of these solitary modes,we first demonstrate single-stage SCG and the compression of femtosecond pulses from 170 to 22 fs with an efficiency>85%.The high spatiotemporal quality of the compressed pulses is further confirmed by highharmonic generation.We also provide evidence of efficient mode self-cleaning,which suggests rich spatiotemporal self-organization of the laser beams in a nonlinear resonator This work offers a route towards highly efficient,simple,stable and highly flexible SCG and pulse compression solutions for state-of-the-art ytterbium laser technology. | Sheng Zhang Zongyuan Fu Bingbing Zhu Guangyu Fan Yudong Chen Shunjia Wang Yaxin Liu Andrius Baltuska Cheng Jin Chuanshan Tian Zhensheng Tao | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,4: | 3 |
