1Contemporary crustal movement of continental China obtained by global positioning system(GPS) measurements显示文摘We obtain a unified horizontal velocity field of continental China and vicinity through measurements at 81 GPS stations provided by the National Key Infrastructure Project, Crustal Movement Observation Network of China. The velocity field delineates patterns of movements and deformation of active crustal blocks in continental China under the Eurasia-fixed reference frame. The space-based geodesy also clearly shows for the first time the horizontal movementand deformation of continental China induced by indentation of the Indian plate. 2Burn image segmentation based on Mask Regions with Convolutional Neural Network deep learning framework:more accurate and more convenient显示文摘Background:Burns are life-threatening with high morbidity and mortality.Reliable diagnosis supported by accurate burn area and depth assessment is critical to the success of the treatment decision and,in some cases,can save the patient’s life.Current techniques such as straight-ruler method,aseptic film trimming method,and digital camera photography method are not repeatable and comparable,which lead to a great difference in the judgment of burn wounds and impede the establishment of the same evaluation criteria.Hence,in order to semi-automate the burn diagnosis process,reduce the impact of human error,and improve the accuracy of burn diagnosis,we include the deep learning technology into the diagnosis of burns.Method:This article proposes a novel method employing a state-of-the-art deep learning technique to segment the burn wounds in the images.We designed this deep learning segmentation framework based on the Mask Regions with Convolutional Neural Network(Mask R-CNN).For training our framework,we labeled 1150 pictures with the format of the Common Objects in Context(COCO)data set and trained our model on 1000 pictures.In the evaluation,we compared the different backbone networks in our framework.These backbone networks are Residual Network-101 with Atrous Convolution in Feature Pyramid Network(R101FA),Residual Network-101 with Atrous Convolution(R101A),and InceptionV2-Residual Network with Atrous Convolution(IV2RA).Finally,we used the Dice coefficient(DC)value to assess the model accuracy.Result:The R101FA backbone network gains the highest accuracy 84.51%in 150 pictures.Moreover,we chose different burn depth pictures to evaluate these three backbone networks.The R101FA backbone network gains the best segmentation effect in superficial,superficial thickness,and deep partial thickness.The R101A backbone network gains the best segmentation effect in full-thickness burn.Conclusion:This deep learning framework shows excellent segmentation in burn wound and extremely robust in different burn wound depths.Moreover,this framework just needs a suitable burn wound image when analyzing the burn wound.It is more convenient and more suitable when using in clinics compared with the traditional methods.And it also contributes more to the calculation of total body surface area(TBSA)burned.Chong Jiao Kehua Su Weiguo Xie Ziqing Ye 2019Burns & Trauma2019,7,1:4

4Effect of Foam Cladding for Blast Mitigation:Numerical Simulation显示文摘Two numerical simulations were performed to investigate the protective effect of the foam cladding. One simulation is based on a previous experimental study, which is a ballistic pendulum with and without a foam cladding subjected to close-range blast loading. The other model is a steel beam with and without a foam cladding under blast loading. The overpressure due to the blast event can be calculated by the empirical function ConWep or by an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) coupling model. The first approach is relatively simple and widely used. The second approach can model the propagation of the blast wave in the air and the interaction between the air and the solid. It is found that the pendulum with the foam cladding always swings to a larger rotation angel compared to a bare pendulum. However, the steel beam with an appropriate foam cladding has a smaller deflection compared to the bare beam without a foam cladding. 5Trimethylamine Adsorption Mechanism on Activated Carbon and Removal in Water and Oyster Proteolytic Solution显示文摘In this study,seven coal-based activated carbons(ACs)were adopted to remove trimethylamine(TMA)in an aqueous solution as environmentally friendly and harmless adsorbents.The results showed that columnar AC(CAC)had a clear scale and honeycomb structures with few fragments and micropores,contributing to superior TMA removal capacity compared to granular AC(GAC)(71.67%for 6.0 mm CAC and 69.92%for 40–60 mesh GAC).In addition,the process of adsorption was accompanied by desorption,and the recommended absorbed time was 120–180 min.The short time to achieve equilibrium indicated that adsorption was kinetically controlled,and pseudo-second-order kinetics was more appropriate than pseudo-first-order kinetics in explaining the adsorption mechanism in both water and oyster enzymatic hydrolysate.The intraparticle diffusion model presented that the adsorption processes could be divided into three steps for GAC and two steps for CAC.The adsorption processes were consistent with the Freundlich model,indicating the existence of physisorption and chemisorption as multilayer adsorption.The results indicated that AC,especially CAC,has great potential for TMA elimination in aquatic product processing.CHEN Deke WAN Peng CAI Bingna YE Ziqing CHEN Hua CHEN Xin SUN Huili PAN Jianyu 2021Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,6:1
6Giant nonlinear Hall effect in twisted bilayer WSe_(2)显示文摘The recently discovered nonlinear Hall effect(NHE)in a few non-interacting systems provides a novel mechanism for generating second-harmonic electrical Hall signals under time-reversal-symmetric conditions.Here,we introduce a new approach to engineering an NHE by using twisted moiréstructures.We found that the twisted WSe_(2)bilayer exhibited an NHE when the Fermi level was tuned to the moiréflat bands.When the first moiréband was half-filled,the nonlinear Hall signal exhibited a sharp peak with a generation efficiency that was at least two orders of magnitude greater than those obtained in previous experiments.We discuss the possible origins of the diverging generation efficiency in twisted WSe_(2)based on resistivity measurements,such as moiré-interface-induced correlation effects and mass-diverging-type continuous Mot transition.This study demonstrates not only how interaction effects can combine with Berry curvature dipoles to produce novel quantum phenomena,but also the potential of NHE measurements as a new tool for studying quantum criticality.Meizhen Huang Zefei Wu Jinxin Hu Xiangbin Cai En Li Liheng An Xuemeng Feng Ziqing Ye Nian Lin Kam Tuen Law Ning Wang 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:0
7Brain circuits for retching-like behavior显示文摘Nausea and vomiting are important defensive responses to cope with pathogens and toxins that invade the body.The nucleus of the solitary tract(NTS)is important for initiating these responses.However,the molecular heterogeneities and cellular diversities of the NTS occlude a better understanding of these defensive responses.Here,we constructed the single-nucleus transcriptomic atlas of NTS cells and found multiple populations of NTS neurons that may be involved in these defensive responses.Among these,we identified Calbindin1-positive(Calb1^(+))NTS neurons that are molecularly distinct from Tac1^(+)neurons.These Calb1^(+)neurons are critical for nausea and retching induced by cereulide;an emetic toxin secreted by Bacillus Cereus.Strikingly,we found that cereulide can directly modulate vagal sensory neurons that innervate Calb1^(+)NTS neurons,a novel mechanism distinct from that for nausea and retching induced by Staphylococcal enterotoxin A.Together,our transcriptomic atlas of NTS neurons and the functional analyses revealed the neural mechanism for cereulide-induced retching-like behavior.These results demonstrate the molecular and cellular complexities in the brain that underlie defensive responses to the diversities of pathogens and toxins.Lifang Huo Zhimin Ye Meiling Liu Ziqing He Meizhu Huang Dapeng Li Qian Wu Qian Wang Xiaoqun Wang Peng Cao Ji Dong Congping Shang 2024National Science Review2024,11,1:0

9RIPK3 promotes hantaviral replication by restricting JAK-STAT signaling without triggering necroptosis显示文摘Hantaan virus(HTNV)is a rodent-borne virus that causes hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS),resulting in a high mortality rate of 15%.Interferons(IFNs)play a critical role in the anti-hantaviral immune response,and IFN pretreatment efficiently restricts HTNV infection by triggering the expression of a series of IFNstimulated genes(ISGs)through the Janus kinase-signal transducer and activator of transcription 1(JAK-STAT)pathway.However,the tremendous amount of IFNs produced during late infection could not restrain HTNV replication,and the mechanism remains unclear.Here,we demonstrated that receptor-interacting protein kinase 3(RIPK3),a crucial molecule that mediates necroptosis,was activated by HTNV and contributed to hantavirus evasion of IFN responses by inhibiting STAT1 phosphorylation.RNA-seq analysis revealed the upregulation of multiple cell death-related genes after HTNV infection,with RIPK3 identified as a key modulator of viral replication.RIPK3 ablation significantly enhanced ISGs expression and restrained HTNV replication,without affecting the expression of pattern recognition receptors(PRRs)or the production of type I IFNs.Conversely,exogenously expressed RIPK3 compromised the host's antiviral response and facilitated HTNV replication.RIPK3^(-/-)mice also maintained a robust ability to clear HTNV with enhanced innate immune responses.Mechanistically,we found that RIPK3 could bind STAT1 and inhibit STAT1 phosphorylation dependent on the protein kinase domain(PKD)of RIPK3 but not its kinase activity.Overall,these observations demonstrated a noncanonical function of RIPK3 during viral infection and have elucidated a novel host innate immunity evasion strategy utilized by HTNV.Yue Si Haijun Zhang Ziqing Zhou Xudong Zhu Yongheng Yang He Liu Liang Zhang Linfeng Cheng Kerong Wang Wei Ye Xin Lv Xijing Zhang Wugang Hou Gang Zhao Yingfeng Lei Fanglin Zhang Hongwei Ma 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,5:0

12STING strengthens host anti-hantaviral immunity through an interferon-independent pathway显示文摘Hantaan virus(HTNV),the prototype virus of hantavirus,could escape innate immunity by restraining type I interferon(IFN)responses.It is largely unknown whether there existed other efficient anti-hantaviral tactics in host cells.Here,we demonstrate that the stimulator of interferon genes(STING)strengthens the host IFNindependent anti-hantaviral immunity.HTNV infection activates RIG-I through IRE1-XBP 1-mediated ER stress,which further facilitates the subcellular translocation and activation of STING.During this process,STING triggers cellular autophagy by interacting with Rab7A,thus restricting viral replication.To note,the anti-hantaviral effects of STING are independent of canonical IFN signaling.Additionally,neither application of the pharmacological antagonist nor the agonist targeting STING could improve the outcomes of nude mice post HTNV challenge in vivo.However,the administration of plasmids exogenously expressing the mutant C-terminal tail(ΔCTT)STING,which would not trigger the type I IFN responses,protected the nude mice from lethal HTNV infection.In summary,our research revealed a novel antiviral pathway through the RIG-I-STING-autophagy pathway,which offered novel therapeutic strategies against hantavirus infection.Kerong Wang Jian Zhang Yongheng Yang Yue Si Ziqing Zhou Xudong Zhu Sushan Wu He Liu Hui Zhang Liang Zhang Linfeng Cheng Wei Ye Xin Lv Yingfeng Lei Xijing Zhang Shilin Cheng Lixin Shen Fanglin Zhang Hongwei Ma 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,4:0
