1Microvascular decompression in patients with hemifacial spasm: report of 1200 cases显示文摘Background Microvascular Decompression (MVD) operation is the most reliable treatment for hemifacial spasm (HFS), but it causes many complications. The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the factors relavent to the effects and postoperative complications of microvascular decompression on hemifacial spasm. Methods A total of 1200 HFS patients treated with MVD were studied retrospectively. The root exit zone (REZ) of the facial nerve was exposed through the infraflocculus approach, the offending vessels were identified and separated from the REZ, and a Teflon graft was interposed between the offending vessels and the brain stem. Brain stem auditory evoked potential (AEP) was monitored intraoperatively. Results The offending vessels can be identified in all patients. The anteroinferior cerebellar artery was the main offending vessel (42.6%). Patients with vertebral artery compression had a multiple vascular compression fashion. Follow-up for 2-10 years (mean 4.2 years) showed that 88.7% patients were cured and 5.6% relieved, with an effective rate of 94.3%. Recurrence rate was 3.2%, and the ineffective rate was 2.6%. The most frequent complication was hearing dysfunction (2.8%). Conclusions MVD is the most definitive treatment method of HFS. The key procedures of this operation include adequate exposure of the REZ, identification of the offending vessels, and proper positioning of Teflon grafts. 2Climate change, water resources and sustainable development in the arid and semi-arid lands of Central Asia in the past 30 years显示文摘The countries of Central Asia are collectively known as the five '-stans': Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. In recent times, the Central Asian region has been affected by the shrinkage of the Aral Sea, widespread desertification, soil salinization, biodiversity loss, frequent sand storms, and many other ecological disasters. This paper is a review article based upon the collection, identification and collation of previous studies of environmental changes and regional developments in Central Asia in the past 30 years. Most recent studies have reached a consensus that the temperature rise in Central Asia is occurring faster than the global average. This warming trend will not only result in a higher evaporation in the basin oases, but also to a significant retreat of glaciers in the mountainous areas. Water is the key to sustainable development in the arid and semi-arid regions in Central Asia. The uneven distribution, over consumption, and pollution of water resources in Central Asia have caused severe water supply problems, which have been affecting regional harmony and development for the past 30 years. The widespread and significant land use changes in the 1990 s could be used to improve our understanding of natural variability and human interaction in the region. There has been a positive trend of trans-border cooperation among the Central Asian countries in recent years. International attention has grown and research projects have been initiated to provide water and ecosystem protection in Central Asia. However, the agreements that have been reached might not be able to deliver practical action in time to prevent severe ecological disasters. Water management should be based on hydrographic borders and ministries should be able to make timely decisions without political intervention. Fully integrated management of water resources, land use and industrial development is essential in Central Asia. 3Bio-replicated forming of the biomimetic drag-reducing surfaces in large area based on shark skin显示文摘On the investigation of biomimetic drag-reducing surface, direct replication of the firm scarfskins on low-resistance creatures to form biomimetic drag-reducing surfaces with relatively vivid morphology relative to the living prototype is a new attempt of the bio-replicated forming technology.Taking shark skin as the bio-replication template, the hot embossing method was applied to the microreplication of its outward morphology. Furthermore, the skins were jointed together to form the drag-reducing surface in large area. 4High-precision bio-replication of synthetic drag reduction shark skin显示文摘Nano-long chains were grafted over the replicated micro-grooves of shark skin in a novel attempt to replicate bio-synthetic drag reduction structure with high precision through synthetic bio-replication. Pre-treated shark skin was used as casting template to prepare a flexible female die of silicone rubber by soft die formation. A waterborne epoxy resin was then used to graft long-chains of drag reduction agent and prepare a synthetic drag reduction shark skin with nano-long chain drag reduction interface and lifelike micro-grooves. Replication precision analysis shows that this technology could replicate the complicated three-dimensional morphology of a biological drag reduction surface with high precision. 5Effect of Amino Acid Residue and Oligosaccharide Chain Chemical Modifications on Spectral and Hemagglutinating Activity of Millettia dielsiana Harms.ex Diels.Lectin显示文摘The effects of modifying the carbohydrate chain and amino acids on the conformation and activity of Millettia dielsiana Harms. ex Diels. lectin (MDL) were studied by hemagglutination, fluorescence and circular dichroism analysis. The modification of tryptophan residues led to a compete loss of hemagglutinating activity; however, the addition of mannose was able to prevent this loss of activity. The results indicate that two tryptophan residues are involved in the carbohydrate-binding site. Modifications of the carboxyl group residues produced an 80% loss of activity, but the presence of mannose protected against the modification. The results suggest that the carboxyl groups of aspartic and glutamic acids are involved in the carbohydrate-binding site of the lectin. However, oxidation of the carbohydrate chain and modification of the histidine and arginine residues did not affect the hemagglutinating activity of MDL. Fluorescence studies of MDL indicate that tryptophan residues are present in a relatively hydrophobic region, and the binding of mannose to MDL could quench tryptophan fluorescence without any change in λmax. The circular dichroism spectrum showed that all of these modifications affected the conformation of the MDL molecule to different extents, except the modification of arginine residues. Fluorescence quenching showed that acrylamide and iodoacetic acids are able to quench 77% and 98% of the fluorescence of tryptophan in MDL, respectively. However, KI produced a barely perceptible effect on the fluorescence of MDL, even when the concentration of I^- was 0.15M. 6Reactive dividing wall column for hydrolysis of methyl acetate:Design and control显示文摘Reactive distillation and dividing wall column distillation are two kinds of effective separation technologies,and their integrated configuration,reactive dividing wall column(RDWC),presents attractive advantages.In this study,the rigorous simulation of RDWC for methyl acetate hydrolysis is performed,and sensitivity analysis is conducted to obtain the minimum reboiler duty.Then a comparison is made between the conventional process and RDWC process,and it shows that 20.1% energy savings can be achieved by RDWC process.In addition,the dynamic characteristic of RDWC is studied and an effective control strategy is proposed.The simple PI control scheme with three temperature loops can obtain reasonable control performance and maintain products at desired purities.It is proved that this RDWC process is an energy efficiency alternative with good controllability.Lumin Li Lanyi Sun Delian Yang Wang Zhong Yi Zhu Yuanyu Tian 2016Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2016,24,10:11

9Imputation from SNP chip to sequence: a case study in a Chinese indigenous chicken population显示文摘Background: Genome-wide association studies and genomic predictions are thought to be optimized by using whole-genome sequence(WGS) data. However, sequencing thousands of individuals of interest is expensive.Imputation from SNP panels to WGS data is an attractive and less expensive approach to obtain WGS data. The aims of this study were to investigate the accuracy of imputation and to provide insight into the design and execution of genotype imputation.Results: We genotyped 450 chickens with a 600 K SNP array, and sequenced 24 key individuals by whole genome re-sequencing. Accuracy of imputation from putative 60 K and 600 K array data to WGS data was 0.620 and 0.812 for Beagle, and 0.810 and 0.914 for FImpute, respectively. By increasing the sequencing cost from 24 X to 144 X, the imputation accuracy increased from 0.525 to 0.698 for Beagle and from 0.654 to 0.823 for FImpute. With fixed sequence depth(12 X), increasing the number of sequenced animals from 1 to 24, improved accuracy from 0.421 to0.897 for FImpute and from 0.396 to 0.777 for Beagle. Using optimally selected key individuals resulted in a higher imputation accuracy compared with using randomly selected individuals as a reference population for resequencing. With fixed reference population size(24), imputation accuracy increased from 0.654 to 0.875 for FImpute and from 0.512 to 0.762 for Beagle as the sequencing depth increased from 1 X to 12 X. With a given total cost of genotyping, accuracy increased with the size of the reference population for FImpute, but the pattern was not valid for Beagle, which showed the highest accuracy at six fold coverage for the scenarios used in this study.Conclusions: In conclusion, we comprehensively investigated the impacts of several key factors on genotype imputation. Generally, increasing sequencing cost gave a higher imputation accuracy. But with a fixed sequencing cost, the optimal imputation enhance the performance of WGP and GWAS. An optimal imputation strategy should take size of reference population, imputation algorithms, marker density, and population structure of the target population and methods to select key individuals into consideration comprehensively. 10Fig fruit ripening is regulated by the interaction between ethylene and abscisic acid显示文摘Fleshy fruit ripening is typically regulated by ethylene in climacteric fruits and abscisic acid(ABA)in non-climacteric fruits.Common fig(Ficus carica)shows a dual-ripening mechanism,which is not fully understood.Here,we detected separate peaks of ethylene and ABA in fig fruits at the onset-and onripening stages,in conjunction with a sharp rise in glucose and fructose contents.In a newly-designed split-fruit system,exogenous ethylene failed to rescue fluridone-inhibited fruit ripening,whereas exogenous ABA rescued 2-amino-ethoxy-vinyl glycine(AVG)-inhibited fruit ripening.Transcriptome analysis revealed changes in the expression of genes key to both ABA and ethylene biosynthesis and perception during fig fruit ripening.At the degreening stage,downregulation of FcACO2 or FcPYL8 retarded ripening,but downregulation of FcETR1/2 did not;unexpectedly,downregulation of FcAAO3 promoted ripening,but it inhibited ripening only before the de-greening stage.Furthermore,we detected an increase in ethylene emissions in the FcAAO3-RNAi ripening fruit and a decrease in ABA levels in the FcACO2-RNAi unripening fruit.Importantly,FcPYL8 can bind to ABA,suggesting that it functions as an ABA receptor.Our findings support the hypothesis that ethylene regulates the fig fruit ripening in an ABA-dependent manner.We propose a model for the role of the ABA-ethylene interaction in climacteric/non-climacteric processes.Han Qiao Han Zhang Zhun Wang Yuanyue Shen 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:5

14^(131)I-Evans blue: evaluation of necrosis targeting property and preliminary assessment of the mechanism in animal models显示文摘Necrosis is a form of cell death, which is related to various serious diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and neurodegeneration. Necrosis-avid agents(NAAs) selectively accumulated in the necrotic tissues can be used for imaging and/or therapy of related diseases. The aim of this study was to preliminarily investigate necrosis avidity of ^(131)I-evans blue( ^(131)I-EB) and its mechanism. The biodistribution of ^(131)I-EB at 24 h after intravenous administration showed that the radioactivity ratio of necrotic to viable tissue was 3.41 in the liver and 11.82 in the muscle as determined by γ counting in model rats. Autoradiography and histological staining displayed preferential uptake of ^(131)I-EB in necrotic tissues. In vitro nuclear extracts from necrotic cells exhibited 82.3% of the uptake in nuclei at 15 min, as well as 79.2% of the uptake at 2 h after ^(131)I-EB incubation. The DNA binding study demonstrated that evans blue(EB) has strong binding affinity with calf-thymus DNA(CT-DNA)(K_(sv)= 5.08×10~5 L/(mol/L)). 15Optimization and Control of Extractive Distillation with Heat Integration for Separating Benzene/Cyclohexane Mixtures显示文摘In this work, the extractive distillation with heat integration process is extended to separate the pressure-insensitive benzene-cyclohexane azeotrope by using furfural as the entrainer. The optimal design of extractive distillation process is established to achieve minimum energy requirement using the multi-objective genetic algorithm, and the results show that energy saving for this heat integration process is 15.7%. Finally, the control design is performed to investigate the system's dynamic performance, and three control structures are studied. 16Recent progress of green sorbents-based technologies for low concentration CO_(2) capture显示文摘The increased concentration of CO_(2) due to continuous breathing and no discharge of human beings in the manned closed space,like spacecraft and submarines,can be a threat to health and safety.Effective removal of low concentration CO_(2) from the manned closed space is essential to meet the requirements of long-term space or deep-sea exploration,which is an international frontier and trend.Ionic liquids(ILs),as a widespread and green solvent,already showed its excellent performance on CO_(2) capture and absorption,indicating its potential application in low concentration CO_(2) capture.In this review,we first summarized the current methods and strategies for direct capture from low concentration CO_(2) in both the atmosphere and manned closed spaces.Then,the multi-scale simulation methods of CO_(2) capture by ionic liquids are described in detail,including screening ionic liquids by COSMO-RS methods,capture mechanism by density functional theory and molecular dynamics simulation,and absorption process by computational fluid dynamics simulation.Lastly,some typical IL-based green technologies for low concentration CO_(2) capture,such as functionalized ILs,co-solvent systems with ILs,and supported materials based on ILs,are introduced,and analyzed the subtle possibility in manned closed spaces.Finally,we look forward to the technology and development of low concentration CO_(2) capture,which can meet the needs of human survival in closed space and proposed that supported materials with ionic liquids have great advantages and infinite possibilities in the vital area.Yuanyue Zhao Yihui Dong Yandong Guo Feng Huo Fang Yan Hongyan He 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,3:3
17Design and Control of Self-Heat Recuperative Distillation Process for Separation of Close-Boiling Mixtures: n-Butanol and iso-Butanol显示文摘In order to explore the advantages of self-heat recuperative distillation(SHRD) process, the design and control of the SHRD process was studied for the separation of n-butanol and iso-butanol mixtures. The economic superiority of SHRD process is presented when a comparison on the total annual cost(TAC) of the conventional distillation process, the vapor recompression distillation process and the SHRD process was made. For the SHRD process, 37.74% and 11.35% savings of TAC can be achieved as compared to the conventional distillation process and vapor recompression distillation process, respectively. The dynamic characteristics of this promising SHRD sequence had been studied, and the dynamic responses demonstrated that 10% changes in both feed flow rate and feed composition can be well handled by the control strategy with dual-temperature control. 18Overexpression of the CmJAZ1-like gene delays flowering in Chrysanthemum morifolium显示文摘Chrysanthemum(Chrysanthemum morifolium)is one of the four major cut-flower plants worldwide and possesses both high ornamental value and cultural connotation.As most chrysanthemum varieties flower in autumn,it is costly to achieve annual production.JAZ genes in the TIFY family are core components of the jasmonic acid(JA)signaling pathway;in addition to playing a pivotal role in plant responses to defense,they are also widely implicated in regulating plant development processes.Here,we characterized the TIFY family gene CmJAZ1-like from the chrysanthemum cultivar‘Jinba’.CmJAZ1-like localizes in the nucleus and has no transcriptional activity in yeast.Tissue expression pattern analysis indicated that CmJAZ1-like was most active in the root and shoot apex.Overexpressing CmJAZ1-like with Jas domain deletion in chrysanthemum resulted in late flowering.RNA-Seq analysis of the overexpression lines revealed some differentially expressed genes(DEGs)involved in flowering,such as the homologs of the flowering integrators FT and SOC1,an FUL homolog involved in flower meristem identity,AP2 domain-containing transcription factors,MADS box genes,and autonomous pathway-related genes.Based on KEGG pathway enrichment analysis,the differentially transcribed genes were enriched in carbohydrate metabolic and fatty acid-related pathways,which are notable for their role in flowering in plants.This study preliminarily verified the function of CmJAZ1-like in chrysanthemum flowering,and the results can be used in molecular breeding programs aimed at flowering time regulation of chrysanthemum.Yunxiao Guan Lian Ding Jiafu Jiang Yuanyue Shentu Wenqian Zhao Kunkun Zhao Xue Zhang Aiping Song Sumei Chen Fadi Chen 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:3
19Design and Control of Thermally Coupled Reactive Distillation Sequence for Biodiesel Production显示文摘Decreasing petroleum reserves and growing alternative fuels requirements have promoted the study of biodiesel production. In this work, two thermally coupled reactive distillation designs for biodiesel production were investigated, and the sensitivity analysis was conducted to obtain the appropriate design values. The thermodynamic analysis and economics evaluation were performed to estimate the superiority of the thermally coupled designs over the base case. The proposed biodiesel production processes were simulated using the simulator Aspen Plus, and calculation results show that the exergy loss and economic cost in the two thermally coupled designs can be greatly reduced. It is found that the thermally coupled side-stripper reactive distillation design provides more economic benefits than the side-rectifier one. 20Shear-responsive peptide/siRNA complexes as lung-targeting gene vectors显示文摘Particles administrated intravenously will pass through the pulmonary capillary network before being distributed to the body.Therefore,fabrication of vectors sensitive to blood shear and active with blood components should be a practical approach to develop lung-targe ting gene carriers self-regulated by circulatory system.In this work,we designed a series of cationic peptides with the same charge density but varying hydrophobicity and capacity to form hydrogen bonds,and investigated their ability to form co mplexes with siRNA,the behaviours of peptide/siRNA complexes in the presence of serum under shear,and the lung-targeting efficacy of the complexes regulated by blood.The hydrophobic interaction co ntrols the complexation between peptide and siRNA,while the hydrogen bonds are responsible for the binding of peptides to the serum components in blood.In vivo tests show that all the peptide/siRNA complexes can accumulate in lung.However,only the complexes that exhibit weak interaction with serum components and can be broken down by shear avoid the inflammation and death caused by pulmonary embolism.Moreover,the peptide with strong hydrophobicity can retain siRNA in lung without early release of the cargo.Our study provides a step toward the development of adaptive gene carriers under the regulation of circulatory system.Dongxiao Yin Mengjie Zhang Jiaxin Chen Yuanyu Huang Dehai Liang 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,5:2
