2A Small-Scale Medication of Leflunomide as a Treatment of COVID-19 in an Open-Label Blank-Controlled Clinical Trial显示文摘We recently reported that inhibitors against human dihydroorotate dehydrogenase(DHODH)have broad-spectrum antiviral activities including their inhibitory efficacies on SARS-CoV-2 replication in infected cells.However,there are limited data from clinical studies to prove the application of DHODH inhibitors in Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients.In the present study,we evaluated Leflunomide,an approved DHODH inhibitor widely used as a modest immune regulator to treat autoimmune diseases,in treating COVID-19 disease with a small-scale of patients.Cases of 10 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients of moderate type with obvious opacity in the lung were included.Five of the patients were treated with Leflunomide,and another five were treated as blank controls without a placebo.All the patients accepted standard supportive treatment for COVID-19.The patients given Leflunomide had a shorter viral shedding time(median of5 days)than the controls(median of 11 days,P=0.046).The patients given Leflunomide also showed a significant reduction in C-reactive protein levels,indicating that immunopathological inflammation was well controlled.No obvious adverse effects were observed in Leflunomide-treated patients,and they all discharged from the hospital faster than controls.This preliminary study on a small-scale compassionate use of Leflunomide provides clues for further understanding of Leflunomide as a potential antiviral drug against COVID-19.Ke Hu Mengmei Wang Yang Zhao Yunting Zhang Tao Wang Zhishui Zheng Xiaochen Li Shaolin Zeng Dong Zhao Honglin Li Ke Xu Ke Lan 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,6:7

4Self-thinning lines and allometric relation in Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata) stands显示文摘We calculated a self-thinning exponent of 1.05 for tree mass using the 3/2 power equation in 93 Cunninghamia lanceolata plots.According to Weller's allometric model,the self-thinning exponent for tree mass was calculated as 1.28 from the allometric exponents h and d.The both self-thinning exponents were significantly lower than 3/2.The self-thinning exponent of organs was estimated to be 1.42 for stems,0.93 for branches,0.96 for leaves,1.35 for roots and 1.28 for shoots,respectively.The self-thinning exponent of stem mass was not significantly different from 3/2,whereas thinning exponents of trees,branches,leaves and roots were significantly lower than 3/2.The stand leaf mass and stand branch mass were constant regardless of the stand density.The scaling relations among branch,leaf,stem,root and shoot mass(MB,ML,MS,MR and MA,respectively) showed that MB and ML scaled as the3/4 power of MS,whereas MS or MA scaled isometrically with respect to MR.Li Xue Xiaoli Hou Qiujing Li Yunting Hao 2015Journal of Forestry Research2015,26,2:3
5Elevated CO2 differentially affects tobacco and rice defense against lepidopteran larvae via the jasmonic acid signaling pathway显示文摘Atmospheric CO_2 levels are rapidly increasing due to human activities. However, the effects of elevated CO_2(ECO_2) on plant defense against insects and the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we show that ECO_2 increased the photosynthetic rates and the biomass of tobacco and rice plants, and the chewing lepidopteran insects Spodoptera litura and Mythimna separata gained less and more mass on tobacco and rice plants, respectively. Consistently, under ECO_2, the levels of jasmonic acid(JA), the main phytohormone controlling plant defense against these lepidopteran insects, as well as the main defense-related metabolites, were increased and decreased in insectdamaged tobacco and rice plants. Importantly, bioassaysand quantification of defense-related metabolites in tobacco and rice silenced in JA biosynthesis and perception indicate that ECO_2 changes plant resistance mainly by affecting the JA pathway. We further demonstrate that the defensive metabolites, but not total N or protein, are the main factors contributing to the altered defense levels under ECO_2. 8Natural variations of ZmSRO1d modulate the trade-off between drought resistance and yield by affecting ZmRBOHC-mediated stomatal ROS production in maize显示文摘While crop yields have historically increased,drought resistance has become a major concern in the context of global climate change.The trade-off between crop yield and drought resistance is a common phenomenon;however,the underlying molecular modulators remain undetermined.Through genome-wide association study,we revealed that three non-synonymous variants in a drought-resistant allele of ZmSRO1d-R resulted in plasma membrane localization and enhanced mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity of ZmSRO1d toward ZmRBOHC,which increased reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in guard cells and promoted stomatal closure.ZmSRO1d-R enhanced plant drought resilience and protected grain yields under drought conditions,but it led to yield drag under favorable conditions.In contrast,loss-of-function mutants of ZmRBOHC showed remarkably increased yields under well-watered conditions,whereas they showed compromised drought resistance.Interestingly,by analyzing 189 teosinte accessions,we found that the ZmSRO1d-R allele was present in teosinte but was selected against during maize domestication and modern breeding.Collectively,our work suggests that the allele frequency reduction of ZmSRO1d-R in breeding programs may have compromised maize drought resistance while increased yields.Therefore,introduction of the ZmSRO1d-R allele into modern maize cultivars would contribute to food security under drought stress caused by global climate change.Huajian Gao Junjun Cui Shengxue Liu Shuhui Wang Yongyan Lian Yunting Bai Tengfei Zhu Haohao Wu Yijie Wang Shiping Yang Xuefeng Li Junhong Zhuang Limei Chen Zhizhong Gong Feng Qin 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,10:2

14Unraveling the degradation mechanism of LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2) at the high cut-off voltage for lithium ion batteries显示文摘LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)layered oxides have been regarded as promising alternative cathodes for the next generation of high-energy lithium ion batteries(LIBs)due to high discharge capacities and energy densities at high operation voltage.However,the capacity fading under high operation voltage still restricts the practical application.Herein,the capacity degradation mechanism of NCM811 at atomic-scale is studied in detail under various cut-off voltages using aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM).It is observed that the crystal structure of NCM811 evolution from a layered structure to a rock-salt phase is directly accompanied by serious intergranular cracks under 4.9 V,which is distinguished from the generally accepted structure evolution of layered,disordered layered,defect rock salt and rock salt phases,also observed under 4.3 and 4.7 V.The electron energy loss spectroscopy analysis also confirms the reduction of Ni and Co from the surface to the bulk,not the previously reported only Li/Ni interlayer mixing.The degradation mechanism of NCM811 at a high cut-off voltage of4.9 V is attributed to the formation of intergranular cracks induced by defects,the direct formation of the rock salt phase,and the accompanied reduction of Ni^(2+)and Co^(2+)phases from the surface to the bulk.Liming Wang Qingmei Su Bin Han Weihao Shi Gaohui Du Yunting Wang Huayv Li Lin Gu Wenqi Zhao Shukai Ding Miao Zhang Yongzhen Yang Bingshe Xu 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,2:1

16Central sensibility of human cases with different body mass during oral glucose tolerance test using functional magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘BACKGROUND: Because of the limitation of technique, there are few researches on regulating function o central hypothalamus by metabolism, especially the researches on real-time function. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the response of hypothalamus to oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in differen body-weighted subjects by using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) so as to investigate th relationship between the sensitivity of hypothalamus in glycoregulation and disturbance of carbohydrat metabolism. DESIGN: Paired design. SETTING: Department of Radiology and Beijing Geriatrics Institute, Beijing Hospital, National Publi Health Bureau. PARTICIPANTS: A total of twenty healthy volunteers were selected from Beijing Geriatrics Institute National Public Health Bureau, including 10 subjects with obesity (5 males and 5 females; body mass > 28.0 kg/m2) and 10 subjects with normal body mass (5 males and 5 females; body mass from 18.5 to 23.9 kg/m2). All subjects gave written informed consent before participating in the study. METHODS: fMRI study was performed on GE 1.5 T Signa Twinspeed Infinity with Excite. Each voluntee was ingested of glucose during the fMRI scan. T2* images were acquired using a single-shot gradient echo (EPI) technique. The parameters of EPI included: TR 3 000 ms, TE 40 ms, Flip angle 90°, field of view (FOV) 24 cm × 24 cm, thickness 5 mm, gap 0 mm, matrix 64 × 64, number of excitation 1. All 10 subjects with normal body mass underwent a repeat fMRI scan after consuming an equivalent amount o water without glucose on a separate day. The procedure for the fMRI scan with water intake was the same a for glucose ingestion. fMRI data were processed with Intensity Averaging Method. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The central response of hypothalamus and feedback orientation during OGTT in different body-weighted subjects. RESULTS: An acute transient decrease of fMRI intensity in posterior inferior and anterior inferior o hypothalamus was observed in all subjects within 2 minutes after oral glucose intake. This decrease wa followed by a recovery to the baseline. However, obese subjects had a delayed intensity decrease [(1.96± 1.06) minutes vs. (1.04±0.71) minutes, t =2.14, P < 0.05] and longer recovery time [(26.62±7.35 minutes vs. (16.29±6.42) minutes, t =3.67, P < 0.01] as compared with normal body-weight subjects Furthermore, decreased fMRI intensity was significant different from baseline intensity [(5.7±2.5)% vs (14.3±5.5)%, t =2.56, P < 0.05] in obese subjects, but not in normal body-weight subjects. The area o hypothalamus in normal body-weight volunteers demonstrated no significant signal change before and afte oral water ingestion (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Hypothalamus response to glucose loading is different in normal body-weighted and obes subjects. 17Study on the Current Situation and Source Apportionment of PM_(2.5) Pollution in China显示文摘In this paper,using concentration data of PM2. 5in 2013 in China and referring to a lot of literature,we preliminary studied the pollution of fine particulate matter and summarized PM2. 5source apportionment in the key cities in China. Our results showed that PM2. 5showed significant spatial and temporal distribution; high surface concentrations of PM2. 5concentrated mainly in the North China Plain,the Sichuan Basin,Yangtze River Delta and other regions; the average annual concentration of PM2. 5was about 80μg / m3 in North China Plain; Seasonal changes in the concentration of PM2. 5was winter > spring > autumn > summer; fired sources,industrial sources,vehicle exhaust were the major sources of PM2. 5; motor vehicle exhaust mostly contributed 10%- 30% to PM2. 5. 19Pattern Change of Urban Green Space in Beijing from 2000 to 2010显示文摘With the rapid urbanization in Beijing, the vegetated surfaces have been increasingly replaced by impervious built surfaces. A clear recognition on the changes in green spaces pattern is vital for urban administrators and planners to optimize the urban development areas and define the ecological protection red lines. Based on the SPOT images and field investigation data of urban green spaces within the sixth ring road of Beijing in 2000, 2005 and 2010, the study investigated the dynamic changes of urban green spaces in this area, by means of GIS techniques and landscape ecology methods. The results indicated that green spaces in Beijing have decreased by 207 km2 from 2000 to 2010 at the expense of agricultural lands and waters. Although there has been some increases in urban forests and grasslands, it cannot compensate the rapid decrease of urban green spaces. The land cover types conversion occurred mainly in the areas between the fifth and sixth ring roads while the zones encircled by the fourth ring road had a little change. In addition, landscape metrics such as number of patches(NP) and shape index(SHAPE) increased, but the mean nearest-neighbor distance(MNN), aggregation index(AI) and patch cohesion index(COHESION) decreased during the period of 2000-2010. Also green landscapes became considerably isolated and fragmented. The study disclosed the obvious changes of green space size, composition and layout in urban districts of Beijing City from 2000 to 2010, and highlighted that construction of urban green space should consider not only the geometric or aesthetic effect, but also the increase of vertical green volume and optimization of spatial layout to fully develop the ecological service functions of green spaces.ZHANG Biao LI Qingxu XIE Gaodi SHI Yunting 2017Journal of Landscape Research2017,9,4:1
20Prevalence and factors associated with pentavalent vaccination:a cross-sectional study in Southern China显示文摘Background Immunization is one of the most far-reaching and cost-effective strategies for promoting good health and saving lives.A complex immunization schedule,however,may be burdensome to parents and lead to reduced vaccine compliance and completion.Thus,it is critical to develop combination vaccines to reduce the number of injections and simplify the immunization schedule.This study aimed to investigate the current status of the pentavalent diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis inactivated poliomyelitis andHaemophilus influenzae type B conjugate(DTaP-IPV/Hib)vaccination in Southern China as well as explore the factors in the general population associated with uptake and the differences between urban and rural populations.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with recently enrolled kindergarten students in Hainan Province between December 2022 and January 2023.The study employed a stratified multistage cluster random sampling method.Information regarding the demographic characteristics and factors that influence decisions were collected from the caregivers of children via an online questionnaire.Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine the factors associated with the status of DTap-IPV/Hib vaccinations.Results Of the 4818 valid responses,95.3%of children were aged 3-4 years,and 2856(59.3%)held ruralhukou.Coverage rates of the DTaP-IPV/Hib vaccine,from 1 to 4 doses,were 24.4%,20.7%,18.5%,and 16.0%,respectively.Caregivers who are concerned about vaccine efficacy[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=1.53,95%confidence interval(CI):1.30-1.79],the manufacturer(aOR=2.05,95%CI:1.69-2.49),and a simple immunization schedule(aOR=1.26,95%CI:1.04-1.54)are factors associated with a higher likelihood of vaccinating children against DTaP-IPV/Hib.In addition,caregivers in urban areas showed more concern about the vaccine price(P=0.010)and immunization schedule(P=0.022)in regard to vaccinating children.Conclusions The DTaP-IPV/Hib vaccine coverage rate in Hainan Province remains low.Factors such as lower socioeconomic status,cultural beliefs,concerns about vaccine safety,and cost may hinder caregivers from vaccinating their children.Further measures,such as health education campaigns to raise knowledge and awareness,and encouragement of domestic vaccine innovation,which would reduce out-of-pocket costs,could be implemented to improve the coverage of DTap-IPV/Hib vaccination.Jianing Xu Yujie Cui Chuican Huang Yuanyuan Dong Yunting Zhang Lichun Fan Guohong Li Fan Jiang 2023Infectious Diseases of Poverty2023,12,5:0
