1Effects of cerium salts on corrosion behaviors of Si–Zr hybrid sol–gel coatings显示文摘The present work examines the effects of cerium salts on corrosion behaviors of Si–Zr hybrid sol–gel coatings. The Si–Zr hybrid sol–gel coatings on a 2A12 aluminum substrate were prepared through hydrolysis and condensation of glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxy-silane(GTMS) and zirconium(IV) n-propoxide(TPOZ). Used as inhibitors for corrosion, three types of cerium salts(Ce(NO_3)_3, CeCl_3, and Ce(CH_3COO)_3) were doped into the sol–gel coatings. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) were employed to investigate the structures and morphologies of various coatings, and the corrosion resistances of the coatings were evaluated by electrochemical methods and neutral salt spray tests. Experimental results indicate that the addition of cerium salts can hinder the process of corrosion due to their self-healing abilities. 2Inter-species mRNA transfer among green peach aphids,dodder parasites,and cucumber host plants显示文摘mRNAs are transported within a plant through phloem.Aphids are phloem feeders and dodders(Cuscuta spp.)are parasites which establish phloem connections with host plants.When aphids feed on dodders,whether there is trafficking of mRNAs among aphids,dodders,and host plants and if aphid feeding a匚fects the mRNA transfer between dodders and hosts are unclear.We constructed a green peach aphid(GPA,Myzus persicae)-dodder(Cuscuta austra/is)-cucumber(Cucumis sativus)tritrophic system by infesting GPAs on C.australis,which parasitized cucumber hosts.We found that GPA feeding activated defense-related phytohormonal and transcriptomic responses in both C.australis and cucumbers and large numbers of mRNAs were found to be transferred between C.australis and cucumbers and between C.australis and GPAs;importantly,GPA feeding on C.australis greatly altered inter-species mobile mRNA profiles.Furthermore,three cucumber mRNAs and three GPA mRNAs could be respectively detected in GPAs and cucumbers.Moreover,our statistical analysis indicated that mRNAs with high abundances and long transcript lengths are likely to be mobile.This study reveals the existence of inter-species and even inter-kingdom mRNA movement among insects,parasitic plants,and parasite hosts,and suggests complex regulation of mRNA trafficking.Juan Song Jinge Bian Na Xue Yuxing Xu Jianqiang Wu 2022Plant Diversity2022,44,1:1
3Screening of rootstocks with resistance to chilling and continuous cropping but without compromising fruit quality for protected watermelon production显示文摘Chilling stress and continuous cropping obstacles limit sustainable production of watermelons under controlled environments.Grafting of watermelon scions onto resistant rootstocks is an effective strategy currently used to overcome these environment limitations.However,currently used commercial rootstocks adversely affect watermelon fruit quality.The chilling tolerance and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.niveum race 1(FON1)resistance of seven Cucurbit germplasms,including four watermelon germplasms(M08,TC,YL,and MY),two muskmelon cultivars(JT1 and JSM),and one commercial Cucurbita rootstock(QZ1)of watermelon,were explored in the current study.The effects of the rootstocks of these germplasms on watermelon resistance to chilling stress and continuous cropping obstacles were evaluated.TC rootstock showed the highest chilling tolerance and increased chilling tolerance of watermelon scion.All Cucurbit germplasms showed higher resistance to FON1 than watermelon cultivar N5(control).Watermelons grafted onto QZ1 showed the lowest wilt incidence and highest fruit yield but had the worst fruit quality after planting on soils continuously cropped for 11 years.Watermelons grafted onto TC showed higher resistance and yield and the best fruit quality.These findings indicate that TC has a large potential for use in grafting watermelon planted in continuously cropped soils(<10 years).TC can also be used as breeding rootstocks to improve watermelon resistance against continuous cropping obstacles without compromising fruit quality.Kai Xu Zhixiang Lan Qing Liu Yuxing Xue Jingyi Yan Zhuangzhuang Su Mengjie Cheng Feishi Luan Xian Zhang Hao Li 2022Vegetable Research2022,2,1:0
