| 1 | Characteristics of entropy generation and heat transfer in a microchannel with fan-shaped reentrant cavities and internal ribs显示文摘Three-dimensional laminar fluid flow and heat transfer in a micro heat sink with cavities and internal ribs are investigated us-ing numerical methods. Moreover, according to the second law of thermodynamics, the model of entropy generation is also established for variable cross section of the microchannel. The simulation encompasses Reynolds number of 198-600, relative cavity height e1/Dhvalues of 0-0.65, relative rib height e2/Dhrange of 0-0.2167. The results show that the effect of relative rib height on entropy generation is significant, while the relative cavity height has little effect on it. The combined effect of cavities and ribs in the microchannel has better performance of heat transfer than the smooth microchannel under similar conditions. Extensive simulations are conducted to collect data on the characteristics of heat transfer and fluid flow in a micro heat sink with cavities and internal ribs. | 2 | Numerical analysis of the two-phase pressure drop and liquid distribution in single-screw expander prototype显示文摘In this paper, the numerical simulations have been carried out to evaluate the two-phase pressure drop and liquid distribution in screw channel. The numerical models are validated against the present experimental data with statistical accuracy. The effects of pitch circle diameter(PCD), inlet velocity and inlet sectional liquid holdup on the pressure drop and liquid distribution characteristics in the screw channel are illustrated. It is found that decreasing the PCD and increasing the inlet sectional liquid holdup can increase the liquid holdup on the outer side in screw channel. The PCD and the inlet sectional liquid holdup need to be considered in evaluating the two-phase frictional pressure drop per unit length in the screw channel. The PCD has an effect on the development of the average pressure in the various cross sections, and the inlet sectional liquid holdup has no visible impact on the changing process of the pressure drop in the screw channel. | 5 | Experimental Performance Evaluation and Artificial-Neural-Network Modeling of ZnO-CuO/EG-W Hybrid Nanofluids显示文摘The thermo-physical properties of nanofluids are highly dependent on the used base fluid.This study explores the influence of the mixing ratio on the thermal conductivity and viscosity of ZnO-CuO/EG(ethylene glycol)-W(water)hybrid nanofluids with mass concentration and temperatures in the ranges 1-5 wt.%and 25-60C,respectively.The characteristics and stability of these mixtures were estimated by TEM(transmission electron microscopy),visual observation,and absorbance tests.The results show that 120 min of sonication and the addition of PVP(polyvinyl pyrrolidone)surfactant can prevent sedimentation for a period reaching up to 20 days.The increase of EG(ethylene glycol)in the base fluid leads to low thermal conductivity and high viscosity.Thermal conductivity enhancement(TCE)decreases from 21.52%to 11.7%when EG:W is changed from 20:80 to 80:20 at 1 wt.%and 60C.A lower viscosity of the base fluid influences more significantly the TCE of the nanofluid.An Artificial Neural Network(ANN)has also been used to describe the effectiveness of these hybrid nanofluids as heat transfer fluids.The optimal number of layers and neurons in these models have been found to be 1 and 5 for viscosity,and 1 and 7 for thermal conductivity.The corresponding coefficient of determination(R^(2))was 0.9979 and 0.9989,respectively. | Yuling Zhai Long Li Zihao Xuan Mingyan Ma Hua Wang | 2022 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,3: | 1 |

| 8 | Observation of regular pulse train in a narrow-band optoelectronic oscillator显示文摘We have experimentally observed a new operating state of a regular pulse train in a narrow-band optoelectronic oscillator(OEO) system, where the direct-current(DC) bias of the Mach-Zehnder modulator is set at the maximum value of the transmission transfer function instead of the usual quadrature point. The observed quasi-steady-state pulse train is distinctly periodic, with a period of 10.5 μs and a center frequency of 10 GHz, and resembles a mode-locked OEO in its waveform. The formation of regular pulses here may arise from the dynamic balance of nonlinearity and narrow-band filter effects, with the transient characteristics of the pulses arising mainly from instabilities between the gain and cavity loss. | 10 | Phylogenetic estimation and morphological evolution of Alsineae(Caryophyllaceae)shed new insight into the taxonomic status of the genus Pseudocerastium显示文摘Pseudocerastium is a monotypic genus in Caryophyllaceae endemic to China.The genus has been widely accepted since it was described in 1998,however its phylogenetic position within Caryophyllaceae has never been studied.In the present study,the whole plastid genome and nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer(ITS)sequences of Pseudocerastium stellarioides was obtained through genome skimming,and the phylogenetic position of the species was studied for the first time.Plastid phylogenomic analysis of Caryophyllaceae revealed that Pseudocerastium is clustered within the tribe Alsineae with strong support.Phylogenetic analyses based on an enlarged taxon sampling of Alsineae using five DNA regions(matK,rbcL,rps16 intron,trnL-F and ITS)revealed that P.stellarioides was nested deeply within Cerastium with strong support.Analyses of morphological character evolution suggest that the ancestral states in Alsineae include three styles and a six-lobed capsule at the apex,while both Cerastium and Pseudocerastium have five styles and ten lobes at the apex of the capsule,further supporting their close relationship.The species Pseudocerastium stellarioides is similar to Cerastium wilsonii in morphology,but differs in having villous indumentum on the lower part of the filaments and compressed globose seeds.Therefore,based on the present molecular and morphological evidence,the generic name Pseudocerastium is reduced here as a new synonym of Cerastium and the species P.stellarioides is transferred to Cerastium as C.jiuhuashanense. | Gang Yao Bine Xue Kun Liu Yuling Li Jiuxiang Huang Junwen Zhai | 2021 | Plant Diversity2021,43,4: | 0 |
| 11 | Competition between anthocyanin and kaempferol glycosides biosynthesis affects pollen tube growth and seed set of Malus显示文摘Flavonoids play important roles in regulating plant growth and development.In this study,three kaempferol 3-O-glycosides were identi fi ed and mainly accumulated in fl owers but not in leaves or fruits of Malus.In Malus,fl ower petal color is normally white,but some genotypes have red fl owers containing anthocyanin.Anthocyanin biosynthesis appears to be in competition with kaempferol 3-O-glycosides production and controlled by the biosynthetic genes.The white fl ower Malus genotypes had better-developed seeds than the red fl ower genotypes.In fl owers,the overexpression of MYB10 in Malus domestica enhanced the accumulation of anthocyanin,but decreased that of kaempferol 3-O-glycosides.After pollination the transgenic plants showed slower pollen tube growth and fewer developed seeds.Exogenous application ofdifferent fl avonoid compounds suggested that kaempferol 3-O-glycosides,especially kaempferol 3-O-rhamnoside,regulated pollen tube growth and seed set rather than cyanidin or quercetin 3-O-glycosides.It was found that kaempferol 3-O-rhamnoside might regulate pollen tube growth through effects on auxin,the Rho of plants(ROP)GTPases,calcium and the phosphoinositides signaling pathway.With the inhibition of auxin transport,the transcription levels of Heat Shock Proteins(HSPs)and ROP GTPases were downregulated while the levels were not changed or even enhanced when blocking calcium signaling,suggesting that HSPs and ROP GTPases were downstream of auxin signaling,but upstream of calcium signaling.In summary,kaempferol glycoside concentrations in pistils correlated with auxin transport,the transcription of HSPs and ROP GTPases,and calcium signaling in pollen tubes,culminating in changes to pollen tube growth and seed set. | Weifeng Chen Zhengcao Xiao Yule Wang Jinxiao Wang Rui Zhai Kui Lin-Wang Richard Espley Fengwang Ma Pengmin Li | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 0 |
