| 2 | New Bivalved Arthropods from the Cambrian(Series 3, Drumian Stage) of Western Hunan, South China显示文摘We report two new three-dimensionally phosphatized microfossils, Cambrolongispina reticulata gen. et sp. nov. and Cambrolongispina glabra gen. et sp. nov., from the middle Cambrian(Series 3, Drumian Stage) at Wangcun, Yongshun County, western Hunan, South China. They are bivalved arthropods, with thin, pliable, originally chitinous or chitin-calcareous shields(c. 350–517μm long). The shields are equipped with a pair of antero-dorsal spines. The spines are internally hollow, varying in length from 1/2 of to as long as the shield length in C. reticulata, and uniformly longer than the shield length in C. glabra. The spines of C. reticulata are ornamented with a longitudinal row of conical or blade-shaped denticles along the posterior edge. Cambrolongispina lacks marginal rims, valve lobation and sulci which are diagnostic of the Bradoriida sensu stricto. It also lacks a doublure/duplicature characteristic of phosphatocopids and some bradoriids. It could be related to the Monasteriidae(which may belong to Bradoriida sensu lato), both characterized by a pair of antero-dorsal spines. Cambrolongispina may have been meiofaunal detritus feeders that lived on or within sediments. The antero-dorsal spines may have been sensory organs to detect nearby predators. | 3 | A brief review on the convergence to steady state solutions of Euler equations with high-order WENO schemes显示文摘Weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO)schemes are a class of high-order shock capturing schemes which have been designed and applied to solve many fluid dynamics problems to study the detailed flow structures and their evolutions.However,like many other high-order shock capturing schemes,WENO schemes also suffer from the problem that it can not easily converge to a steady state solution if there is a strong shock wave.This is a long-standing difficulty for high-order shock capturing schemes.In recent years,this non-convergence problem has been studied extensively for WENO schemes.Numerical tests show that the key reason of the non-convergence to steady state is the slight post shock oscillations,which are at the small local truncation error level but prevent the residue to settle down to machine zero.Several strategies have been proposed to reduce these slight post shock oscillations,including the design of new smoothness indicators for the fifth-order WENO scheme,the development of a high-order weighted interpolation in the procedure of the local characteristic projection for WENO schemes of higher order of accuracy,and the design of a new type of WENO schemes.With these strategies,the convergence to steady states is improved significantly.Moreover,the strategies are applicable to other types of weighted schemes.In this paper,we give a brief review on the topic of convergence to steady state solutions for WENO schemes applied to Euler equations. | Shuhai Zhang Jun Zhu Chi-Wang Shu | 2019 | Advances in Aerodynamics2019,1,1: | 6 |

| 5 | Study of lubrication behavior of pure water for hydrophobic friction pair显示文摘The perfluorooctyltrichlorosilane molecular layer was self-assembled on glass plate. The tribological properties of the molecular layer in water were studied with the method of ball on disk. An interesting phenomenon was found that low friction coefficients of 0.02―0.08 were obtained when the friction pair was lubricated with only a water droplet. Whereas, when the friction pair was encircled with large amount of water or fully immersed in water, the friction coefficient was higher than that under a droplet lubrication. A mechanism of water droplet lubrication was proposed that the surface tension caused by the solid-liquid-air three-phase interface makes water molecules enter into the contact zone, which separates the two friction surfaces and provides a low friction coefficient. | 8 | Sliding friction of shale rock on dry quartz sand particles显示文摘The sliding friction of rock, involving all kinds of particles at the contact surface, is relevant to many problems, ranging from those in artificial engineering to earthquake dynamics. In this work, the frictional performance of the shale rock–dry quartz sand contact was investigated using a self-developed testing device. The study showed that the coefficient of friction of the contact increases with nominal stress and that the corresponding friction force increases approximately linearly with nominal stress, which is directly related to the contact stress between each single sand particle and rock shale. An overall dynamic coefficient, γ, reflecting the response of friction force to nominal stress, first decreases and then increases with area ratio, which is determined by not only the contact stress but also the interparticle friction force. | 9 | Mitochondrial and nuclear changes in hippocampal neurons in a lithium-pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus rat model显示文摘BACKGROUND:Mitochondrial damage plays a key role in neuronal damage. OBJECTIVE:To observe ultrastructural damage to mitochondria and nuclei,as well as caspase-3 expression,in hippocampal CA3 neurons of lithium-pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus rats. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The neuropathological,randomized,controlled study was performed at the Animal Experimental Center,Shandong University,China in May 2008. MATERIALS:A total of 75 healthy,adult,male,Wistar rats were randomly assigned into model (n = 45) and control(n = 30) groups.Lithium-pilocarpine(Sigma,USA) was used in this study. METHODS:Rats in the model group were intraperitoneally injected with lithium chloride(3 mEq/kg), and 24 hours later with pilocarpine(45 mg/kg),to induce seizures for 2 hours.Rats in the control group were intraperitoneally infused with the same volume of saline.Rat hippocampal CA3 tissue was obtained at 3,12,and 24 hours following status epilepticus. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Neuronal changes were observed under an optical microscope. Ultrastructural changes in mitochondria and nuclei were observed using an electron microscope. caspase-3 mRNA levels were quantified by semiquantitative RT-PCR. RESULTS:After 3 hours of status epilepticus,mitochondria with swollen cristae and ruptured membranes were observed by electron microscopy.Nuclei with marginated chromatin were observed after 24 hours status epilepticus.RT-PCR results demonstrated increased caspase-3 expression at 12 hours,and significantly increased expression at 24 hours following termination of status epilepticus.This was in accordance with acidophilia occurrence,as indicated by hematoxylin-eosin staining,and time of ultrastructural damage to nuclei.
