1Microbial community structure in an integrated A/O reactor treating diluted livestock wastewater during start-up period显示文摘In order to investigate the correlation between reactor performance and the microorganisms,an integrated A/O reactor was operated for 72 days to treat diluted livestock wastewater.Chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency increased from 79% to 94%,with total nitrogen (TN) removal efficiency from 37% to 50% (HRT 7.4 hr) when the influent COD and TN were ca.1500 mg/L and 95 mg/L,respectively,and the outlet COD concentration was less than 100 mg/L at the end.Microbial community was monitored during start-up period by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) based on 16S rRNA gene.DGGE profiles showed that microbial community had changed significantly during the start-up and these shifts were in accordance with the reactor performance.UPGMA clustering analysis showed that 14 anaerobic samples fell into five main groups and so did the aerobic ones,but the grouping patterns were different.Phylogenetic analysis indicated that microbial populations in the anaerobic compartment belonged to Firmicutes,Proteobacteria,Chloroflexi and Bacteroidetes,while Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,Verrucomicrobiae and Nitrospira were present in the aerobic compartment.In the anaerobic compartment,more fermentative and acetogenic bacteria were detected during the start-up while denitrifying bacteria faded away.Two functional populations such as Nitrospira defluvii and Dechloromonas denitrificans were observed when nitrogen removal was high,indicating that simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred in the aerobic compartment.Lijiao Ren,Yining Wu,Nanqi Ren,Kun Zhang,Defeng Xing State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment,Harbin Institute of Technology,Harbin 150090,China. 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,5:14
2Photosynthesis, chilling acclimation and the response of antioxidant enzymes to chilling stress in mulberry seedlings显示文摘This study investigates the effects of cold-acclimation in conferring chilling tolerance in seedlings of the mulberry(Morus alba) variety ‘Qiuyu’. Changes in photosynthesis and antioxidant enzymes in chilling acclimatized(CA), and non-acclimatized(NA) seedlings were recorded during chilling stress(3 °C) and a recovery period(25 °C) each for 3 days. The results showed that CA plants had higher net photosynthetic rates(P_n), stomatal conductance(G_s), and maximum photochemical efficiency of photosystem Ⅱ(F_v/F_m) in response to chilling stress compared to NA. The seedlings maintained the same trends during the recovery stage. The responses of Q_A reduction degree (1-q_P) and prime electronic transfer rates(F_o) were lower in acclimatized than in non-acclimatized seedlings. Low-temperature acclimation and chilling stress also caused an increase in leaf proline and soluble sugar contents. Leaf malondialdehyde levels were significantly lower while ascorbate peroxidase(APX) activity was significantly higher in acclimatized seedlings, suggesting that elevated osmolytes and APX confer resistance to chilling temperatures. In this study on the response of mulberry seedlings to chilling stress, we also looked at the recovery process. 3Optimization of Extraction of Total Flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE Using Response Surface Methodology显示文摘[Objectives]This study aimed to optimize the ultrasonic-assisted extraction process of total flavonoids from a Zhuang medicine HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE using response surface methodology.[Methods]Using rutin as a reference substance,a standard curve was drawn at a wavelength of 292 nm.Content determination was performed through absorbance under different conditions.The effects of ultrasonic time,ethanol volume fraction and liquid-to-solid ratio on the yield of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE were investigated by single-factor tests.By using Box-Behnken test,the ultrasonic-assisted extraction process of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE was optimized.[Results]The optimal extraction process of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE was as follows:ultrasonic time of 30 min,ethanol volume fraction of 50%and liquid-to-solid ratio of 40∶1(mL/g).Under the optimal extraction conditions,the average yield of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE was 85.47 mg/g.[Conclusions]The optimized extraction process was convenient and feasible.This study will provide a reference for the extraction of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE,and provide certain guidance and basis for further development and utilization of the plan resource of Blumea riparia(Bl.)DC.Hongna SU Yining ZHANG Xuexue LI Xuelian ZHAO Yisong LI Wenbing LI Yuan LIU 2020Medicinal Plant2020,11,2:5
4Hypoxia-mimicking 3D bioglass-nanoclay scaffolds promote endogenous bone regeneration显示文摘Large bone defect repair requires biomaterials that promote angiogenesis and osteogenesis.In present work,a nanoclay(Laponite,XLS)-functionalized 3D bioglass(BG)scaffold with hypoxia mimicking property was prepared by foam replication coupled with UV photopolymerization methods.Our data revealed that the incorporation of XLS can significantly promote the mechanical property of the scaffold and the osteogenic differentiation of human adipose mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs)compared to the properties of the neat BG scaffold.Desferoxamine,a hypoxia mimicking agent,encourages bone regeneration via activating hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha(HIF-1α)-mediated angiogenesis.GelMA-DFO immobilization onto BG-XLS scaffold achieved sustained DFO release and inhibited DFO degradation.Furthermore,in vitro data demonstrated increased HIF-1αand vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)expressions on human adipose mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs).Moreover,BG-XLS/GelMA-DFO scaffolds also significantly promoted the osteogenic differentiation of ADSCs.Most importantly,our in vivo data indicated BG-XLS/GelMA-DFO scaffolds strongly increased bone healing in a critical-sized mouse cranial bone defect model.Therefore,we developed a novel BG-XLS/GelMA-DFO scaffold which can not only induce the expression of VEGF,but also promote osteogenic differentiation of ADSCs to promote endogenous bone regeneration.Xiao Zheng Xiaorong Zhang Yingting Wang Yangxi Liu Yining Pan Yijia Li Man Ji Xueqin Zhao Shengbin Huang Qingqing Yao 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,10:4

7Constructing a V2G-enabled Regional Energy Internet for Cost-efficient Carbon Trading显示文摘The increasing penetration of plug-in electric ve- hicles (PEVs) has highlighted the importance of coordinating ubiquitous distributed energy resources (DERs) via the internet of things (IoT).With the help of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, PEVs can be aggregated to behave as a storage system, yielding both economic and environmental benefits. In this paper, we propose an optimal bidding framework for a V2G-enabled re- gional energy internet (REI) to participate in day-ahead markets considering carbon trading. The REI operator aims to maximize the net profits from day-ahead markets while anticipating real- time adjustments. A detailed battery model is developed to depict the charging and discharging capability of V2G-enabled PEVs. A two-stage stochastic optimization model is formulated to schedule the operation of PEV fleets against various sources of uncertainties, e.g., the arrival and departure time of PEVs, solar power and real-time prices. 8Cancer-associated adipocyte-derived G-CSF promotes breast cancer malignancy via Stat3 signaling显示文摘Adipocyte is the most predominant cell type in the tumor microenvironment of breast cancer and plays a pivotal role in cancer progression,yet the underlying mechanisms and functional mediators remain elusive.We isolated primary preadipocytes from mammary fat pads of human breast cancer patients and generated mature adipocytes and cancer-associated adipocytes(CAAs)in vitro.The CAAs exhibited significantly different gene expression profiles as assessed by transcriptome sequencing.One of the highly expressed genes in CAAs is granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF).Treatment with recombinant human G-CSF protein or stable expression of human G-CSF in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)cell lines enhanced epithelial–mesenchymal transition,migration,and invasion of cancer cells,by activating Stat3.Accordantly,targeting G-CSF/Stat3 signaling with G-CSF-neutralizing antibody,a chemical inhibitor,or siRNAs for Stat3 could all abrogate CAA-or G-CSF-induced migration and invasion of breast cancer cells.The pro-invasive genes MMP2 and MMP9 were identified as target genes of G-CSF in TNBC cells.Furthermore,in human breast cancer tissues,elevated G-CSF expression in adipocytes is well correlated with activated Stat3 signal in cancer cells.Together,our results suggest a novel strategy to intervene with invasive breast cancers by targeting CAA-derived G-CSF.Li Liu Yudong Wu Cheng Zhang Chong Zhou Yining Li Yi Zeng Chunbo Zhang Rong Li Daya Luo Lieliang Wang Long Zhang Shuo Tu Huan Deng Shiwen Luo Ye-Guang Chen Xiangyang Xiong Xiaohua Yan 2020Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,9:4
9Berberine mitigates hepatic insulin resistance by enhancing mitochondrial architecture via the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway显示文摘The aberrant changes of fussion/fission-related proteins can trigger mitochondrial dynamics imbalance,which cause mitochondrial dysfunctions and result insulin resistance(IR).However,the relationship between the inner mitochondrial membrane fusion protein optic atrophy 1(Opa1)and hepatic IR as well as the specific molecular mechanisms of signal transduction has not been fully elucidated.In this study,we explore whether abnormalities in the Opa1 cause hepatic IR and whether berberine(BBR)can prevent hepatic IR through the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway.High-fat diet(HFD)-fed mice and db/db mice are used as animal models to study hepatic IR in vivo.IR,morphological changes,and mitochondrial injury of the liver are examined to explore the effects of BBR.SIRT1/Opa1 protein expression is determined to confirm whether the signalling pathway is damaged in the model animals and is involved in BBR treatment-mediated mitigation of hepatic IR.A palmitate(PA)-induced hepatocyte IR model is established in HepG2 cells in vitro.Opa1 silencing and SIRT1 overexpression are induced to verify whether Opa1 deficiency causes hepatocyte IR and whether SIRT1 improves this dysfunction.BBR treatment and SIRT1 silencing are employed to confirm that BBR can prevent hepatic IR by activating the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway.Western blot analysis and JC-1 fluorescent staining results show that Opa1 deficiency causes an imbalance in mitochondrial fusion/fission and impairs insulin signalling in HepG2 cells.SIRT1 and BBR overexpression ameliorates PA-induced IR,increases Opa1,and improves mitochondrial function.SIRT1 silencing partly reverses the effects of BBR on HepG2 cells.SIRT1 and Opa1 expressions are downregulated in the animal models.BBR attenuates hepatic IR and enhances SIRT1/Opa1 signalling in db/db mice.In summary,Opa1 silencing-mediated mitochondrial fusion/fission imbalance could lead to hepatocyte IR.BBR may improve hepatic IR by regulating the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway,and thus,it may be used to treat type-2 diabetes.Jia Xu Yining Zhang Zhiyi Yu Yueqi Guan Yuqian Lv Meishuang Zhang Ming Zhang Li Chen Xiaoyan Lv Fengying Guan 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,10:3

11High reproducibility and sensitivity of bifacial copper nanowire array for detection of glucose显示文摘The ordered bifacial copper nanowire array(Cu BNWA) was synthesized by a template assisted electrochemical deposition method.The morphology and structure of the as-prepared samples were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that the ordered Cu nanowire array with uniform geometrical dimensions covered both side of the Cu substrate.When used as the electrode for glucose detection,the minimum detectable concentration of glucose can be reached as low as 0.2 mM.Impressively,the sample still showed high sensitivity and stability for glucose detection after two months placement in ambient environment.These excellent performances of the Cu BNWA make it a promising non-enzyme glucose detection sensor for various applications.Hanqing Zhang Yining Wang Xuesen Gao Zhuo Gao Yan Chen 2017Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2017,27,3:2
12Clinical and Hereditary Features of Familial Vitreous Amyloidosis in Chinese显示文摘Purpose:To investigate the clinical and hereditary features of a Chinese Han pedigree with familial vitreous amyloidosis.Methods:The hereditary features of familial traits were detected by drawing genealogy,and the clinical menifestations were observed.Results:This family with 4 generations of 32 family members had the characteristics of euchromosome dominant inheritance.The age of onset in heterozygotes was over 40 years old in male and over 55 in female.All affected individuals had curly hair.Among the 23 family members of the first 3 generations,7 had the final diagnosis.Four of the cases treated by vitrectomy was found to have open angle glaucoma during the follow-up.Conclusion:We reported a Chinese Han pedigree with familial vitreous amyloidosis which is a rare condition in Chinese and described the clinical and hereditary features.The genetic sequencing and animal model are undergoing.Yining Shi Le Yang Jing Li Jia Hu Rui Shi Ye Sun Chuntao Zhang 2011Eye Science2011,26,1:2
13Spatial and temporal evolution of landfast ice near Zhongshan Station, East Antarctica, over an annual cycle in 2011/2012显示文摘Annual observations of first-year ice(FYI) and second-year ice(SYI) near Zhongshan Station, East Antarctica,were conducted for the first time from December 2011 to December 2012. Melt ponds appeared from early December 2011. Landfast ice partly broke in late January, 2012 after a strong cyclone. Open water was refrozen to form new ice cover in mid-February, and then FYI and SYI co-existed in March with a growth rate of 0.8 cm/d for FYI and a melting rate of 2.7 cm/d for SYI. This difference was due to the oceanic heat flux and the thickness of ice,with weaker heat flux through thicker ice. From May onward, FYI and SYI showed a similar growth by 0.5 cm/d.Their maximum thickness reached 160.5 cm and 167.0 cm, respectively, in late October. Drillings showed variations of FYI thickness to be generally less than 1.0 cm, but variations were up to 33.0 cm for SYI in March,suggesting that the SYI bottom was particularly uneven. Snow distribution was strongly affected by wind and surface roughness, leading to large thickness differences in the different sites. Snow and ice thickness in Nella Fjord had a similar 'east thicker, west thinner' spatial distribution. Easterly prevailing wind and local topography led to this snow pattern. Superimposed ice induced by snow cover melting in summer thickened multi-year ice,causing it to be thicker than the snow-free SYI. The estimated monthly oceanic heat flux was ~30.0 W/m2 in March–May, reducing to ~10.0 W/m2 during July–October, and increasing to ~15.0 W/m2 in November. The seasonal change and mean value of 15.6 W/m2 was similar to the findings of previous research. 15Optical Properties and Source Analysis of Aerosols over a Desert Area in Dunhuang,Northwest China显示文摘Aerosol observational data for 2012 obtained from Dunhuang Station of CARE-China(Campaign on Atmospheric Aerosol Research Network of China) were analyzed to achieve in-depth knowledge of aerosol optical properties over Dunhuang region. The results showed that the annual average aerosol optical depth(AOD) at 500 nm was 0.32 ± 0.06, and the ?ngstr?m exponent(α) was 0.73 ± 0.27. Aerosol optical properties revealed significant seasonal characteristics. Frequent sandstorms in MAM(March–April–May) resulted in the seasonal maximum AOD, 0.41 ± 0.04, and a relatively smaller αvalue, 0.44 ± 0.04. The tourism seasons, JJA(June–July–August) and SON(September–October–November) coincide with serious emissions of small anthropogenic aerosols. While in DJF(December–January–February), the composition of the atmosphere was a mixture of dust particles and polluted aerosols released by domestic heating; the average AOD and αwere 0.29 ± 0.02 and 0.66 ± 0.17, respectively. Different air masses exhibited different degrees of influence on the aerosol concentration over Dunhuang in different seasons. During MAM, ranges of AOD(0.11–1.18) and α(0.06–0.82) were the largest under the dust influence of northwest-short-distance air mass in the four trajectories. Urban aerosols transported by northwest-short-distance air mass accounted for a very large proportion in JJA and the mixed aerosols observed in SON were mainly conveyed by air masses from the west. 16KLF2 inhibits TGF-β-mediated cancer cell motility in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Feedback regulation plays a pivotal role in determining the intensity and duration of TGF-p signaling and subsequently affecting the pathophysiological roles of TGF-p,including those in liver malignancy.KLF2,a member of the Kruppel-like factor(KLF)fam ily transcription factors,has been implicated in impeding hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)development.However,the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood.In the present study,we found that TGF-p stimulates the expression of KLF2 gene in several HCC cell lines.KLF2 protein is able to inhibit TGF-p/Smad signaling in HCC cells as assessed by luciferase reporter assay.Further studies indicated that KLF2 inhibits the transcriptional activity of Smad2/3 and Smad4 and ameliorates TGF-p-induced target gene expression,therefore creating a novel negative feedback loop in TGFp signaling.Functionally,stably expression of KLF2 in HCCLM3 cells attenuated TGF-卜induced cancer cell motility in wound-healing and transwell assays by interfering with TGF-p-mediated upregulation of MMP2.Together,our results revealed that KLF2 protein has a tumor-suppressive function in HCC through a negative feedback loop over TGF-p signaling.Yining Li Shuo Tu Yi Zeng Cheng Zhang Tian Deng Weicheng Luo Lingyan Lian Ling Chen Xiangyang Xiong Xiaohua Yan 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,5:2

18Ultrasmall AuPd nanoclusters on amine-functionalized carbon blacks as high-performance bi-functional catalysts for ethanol electrooxidation and formic acid dehydrogenation显示文摘The synthesis of ultrasmall metal nanoclusters(NCs) with high catalytic activities is of great importance for the development of clean and renewable energy technologies but remains a challenge. Here we report a facile wet-chemical method to prepare ~1.0 nm Au Pd NCs supported on amine-functionalized carbon blacks. The Au Pd NCs exhibit a specific activity of 5.98 mA cm_(AuPd)^(-2)and mass activity of 5.25 A mg_(auPd)^(-1) for ethanol electrooxidation, which are far better than those of commercial Pd/C catalysts(1.74 mAcm_(AuPd)^(-2) and 0.54 A mg_(Pd)^(-1) ). For formic acid dehydrogenation, the Au Pd NCs have an initial turn over frequency of 49339 h^(-1) at 298 K without any additive, which is much higher than those obtained for most of reported Au Pd catalysts.
