| 1 | Three Tiaobu Feishen therapies protect human alveolar epithelial cells against cigarette smoking and tumor necrosis factor-mlear factor-kappa B pathwayα-induced inflamation by nuc显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of Tiaobu Feishen formulae(TBFS), including Bufei Jianpi formula(BJF), Bufei Yishen formula(BYF), and Yiqi Zishen formula(YZF), on inflammatory response, protease-anti-protease imbalance and collagen deposition in rats.METHODS: In present work, we used an in vitro model of cigarette smoking extract(CSE)-and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)-induced A549 cellsto examine the efficacy of BJF, BYF and YZF on the production of inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and interleukin(IL)-8, IL-6, matrix metalloproteinases(MMP)-9, and IL-10 in CSE or TNF-ls. And their related transcripα-induced A549 celtion factors and signaling pathway were also analyzed.RESULTS: The results showed that BJF, BYF and YZF could significantly decrease the expression levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines induced by CSE or TNF-α. Furthermore, BJF, BYF and YZF could suppress CSE-or TNF-α-induced activation of nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB) transcription factors and its corresponding pathways. Taken together, these data implied that BJF, BYF and YZF effectively inhibited CSE-or TNF-α-induced inflammatory response in alveolar epithelial cell, which was due to their inhibition effect on NF-κB pathways.CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that the Tiaobu Feishen therapies may protect human alveolar epithelial cells against cigarette smoking and TNF-α-induced inflammation. | 3 | Identical carbon isotope trends of carbonate and organic carbon and their environmental significance from the Changhsingian (end-Permian), Meishan, South China显示文摘High resolution carbon isotope analyses of carbonate and organic carbon from Meishan, South China showed that the variation of δ13Ccarb is marked by three large positive excursions during the Changhsingian (end-Permian). Carbon isotope stratigraphy during this stage shows three cyclic intervals in δ13Ccarb, with two cycles corresponding to the lower (Paleofusulinid minima Zone) and one corresponding to the upper Changhsingian (P. sinensis Zone). The large positive δ13Ccarb excursions indicate episodes of enhanced burial of isotopically light or-ganic carbon, presumably in response to deep-water anoxia episodically extending into shallow water with the rise of sea level. The organic carbon during the Changhsingian is distinguished into two groups, and the δ13Corg of each group parallels (separately) the more detailed profile of δ13Ccarb, strongly showing that the values of fractionation Δ13Ccab-org remain relatively constant, with only two intervals with anomaly. The enhanced fractionation Δ13Ccab-org with large negative δ13Corg excursions apparently indicates significant inputs from sulfide-oxidizing bacteria and green sulfur bacteria, notably at bed 24 just predating mass extinction. | 5 | Tiaobu Feishen therapy inhibits inflammation induced by cigarette smoke extracts in a human monocyte/macrophage cell line显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To study the mechanistic effects of Tiaobu Feishen therapy(TBFS) on inflammation induced by cigarette smoke extract(CSE) in a human monocyte/macrophage cell line.METHODS: The human monocyte/macrophage cell line THP-1 was stimulated with 10% CSE in the presence or absence of Bufei Yishen formula(BYF),Bufei Jianpi formula(BJF) and Yiqi Zishen formula(YZF). All formulations contained serum. Pro-inflammatory cytokines were measured in the supernatants using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.The activity of STAT3 DNA binding was detected using electrophoretic mobility shift assay and janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription(JAK/STAT) pathway activation was assessed using Western blotting.RESULTS: The results showed that BYF, BJF and YZF treatment strongly decreased the CSE-induced secretion of interleukin(IL)-6, IL-8, tumor necrosis factor-α and matrix metalloproteinase-9 by THP-1 cells. | 7 | Tidal water exchanges can shape the phytoplankton community structure and reduce the risk of harmful cyanobacterial blooms in a semi-closed lake显示文摘For estuaries,inland lakes play a vital role in the ecological balance under the impact of tide s.The effect of tides-induced water exchange on phytoplankton community in a semi-closed lake was studied and compared with that of an adjacent closed lake in the Oujiang River mouth in Zhejiang,East China Sea,from June 29,2020 to June 14,2021.Results show that the dominant species,abundance,dominance,and diversity of the phytoplankton species between the two lakes were significantly different.In the closed lake,cyanobacteria were the dominant species during the study period.However.in the semi-closed lake,the diversification of the dominant species was greater,and some species of diatoms and green algae became dominant.The average phytoplankton abundance in the closed lake was 6 times of that in the semi-closed lake.The average dominance of cyanobacteria in the closed lake was 0.96,and those in the semi-closed lake and the Oujiang River were 0.51 and 0.22,respectively.Cyanobacterial blooms occurred throughout the study time in the closed lake but not in the semi-closed one.Furthermore,the species diversity richness of the phytoplankton in the semi-closed lake was higher than that of the closed one,and the phytoplankton community between the closed lake and semi-closed lake could be divided into distinctly different groups based on non-metic multidimensional scaling analysis(NMDS)and analysis of similarities(ANOSIM)analysis.The salinity of the water was significantly greater and the transparency significantly smaller in the semi-closed lake than those in the closed lake.Therefore,water exchange driven by local tidal movement increased salinity and decreased transparency of water,which consequently shaped the community structures of different phytoplankton and reduced the risk of a cyanobacterial bloom outbreak in the semi-closed lake. | Wenxu ZHENG Renhui LI Wenli QIN Binbin CHEN Min WANG Wanchun GUAN Xiaoling ZHANG Qiao YANG Min ZHAO Zengling MA | 2022 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,5: | 0 |
