1GW5-Like, a homolog of GW5, negatively regulates grain width, weight and salt resistance in rice显示文摘Grain size is an important determinant of yield potential in crops. We previously demonstrated that natural mutations in the regulatory sequences of qSW5/GW5 confer grain width diversity in rice. However, the biological function of a GW5 homolog, named GW5-Like(GW5 L), remains unknown. In this study, we report on GW5 L knockout mutants in Kitaake, a japonica cultivar(cv.)considered to have a weak gw5 variant allele that confers shorter and wider grains. GW5 L is evenly expressed in various tissues, and its protein product is localized to the plasma membrane. Biochemical assays verified that GW5 L functions in a similar fashion to GW5. It positively regulates brassinosteroid(BR) signaling through repression of the phosphorylation activity of GSK2. Genetic data show that GW5 L overexpression in either Kitaake or a GW5 knockout line, Kasaorf3(indica cv. Kasalath background), causes more slender, longer grains relative to the wild-type. We also show that GW5 L could confer salt stress resistance through an association with calmodulin protein OsCa M1-1. 2Has the maximum of Solar Cycle 23 appeared?显示文摘In this note, we define firstly a compositive parameter as an index describing the level of solar activity in a solar cycle. The parameter is derived from a combination of the smoothed monthly mean sunspot number with the fluctuation of the associated monthly mean sunspot numbers to the smoothed one. Then, a method is developed for estimating the time of the appearance of a solar maximum based on the conception of similar cycles. 4Growth of Ag nanocrystals on multiwalled carbon nanotubes and Ag-carbon nanotube interaction显示文摘The experimental investigations on the interaction between Ag-nanocrystal particles (Ag-NCPs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in Ag-nanocrystal particles/carbon nanotubes (Ag-NCPs/CNTs) hybrid structures were reported. The growth of Ag-NCPs on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was carried out by thermal evaporation deposition. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that Ag-NCPs had the crystal lattice feature of face-centered cube (fcc). The growth of Ag-NCPs on MWCNTs induced the cross-section deformation of MWCNT. The experimental results also showed that the synthesized Ag-NCPs/CNTs hybrid structure appeared as quasi-one dimensional nanowires containing the Ag-NCP/CNT hetero-junction. There was local cross-section deformation on MWCNTs at the interface of hetero-junction. 5Corrosion Behavior of GH3535 Alloy Induced by Selenium显示文摘Corrosion behavior of a Ni-16Mo-7Cr base superalloy was systematically investigated under a selenium(Se)atmosphere at 700°C.It shows that Se can react with the alloy elements such as Ni,Mo,Cr et al.to form a reaction layer at the surface of alloy,which is mainly composed of Ni_(2)Se_(3),MoSe_(2),and Cr_(3)Se_(4).The tensile properties of the alloy are not greatly affected by changes of Se content.The slight decrease in the tensile strength is attributed to the formation of the reaction layer,which leads to the decrease in the effective undertaking area of the alloy.No intergranular diffusion characteristic of Se elements was observed,and the Se effect of embrittlement on grain boundaries is weaker than that of tellurium(Te).Zhenyuan Zhu Fenfen Han Yanyan Jia Changying Wang Cuilan Ren Hanxun Qiu Xingtai Zhou 2023Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,6:0
