| 1 | In vitro degradation and biocompatibility of Mg-Nd-Zn-Zr alloy显示文摘In this study,in vitro degradation and biocompatibility of Mg-Nd-Zn-Zr(NZK) alloy were investigated to determine its suitability as a degradable medical biomaterial.Its corrosion properties were evaluated by static immersion test,electrochemical corrosion test,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy dispersive spectroscopic(EDS) analysis,and in vitro biocompatibilities were assessed by hemolysis and cytotoxicity tests.Pure magnesium was used as control.The results of static immersion test and electrochemical corrosion test in simulated body fluid(SBF) demonstrated that the addition of alloying elements could improve the corrosion resistance.The hemolysis test found that the hemolysis rate of calcium phosphate coated NZK alloy was 4.8%,which was lower than the safe value of 5%.The cytotoxicity test indicated that NZK alloy extracts did not significantly reduce MC3T3-E1 cell viability.Hemolysis test and cytotoxicity test display excellent hemocompatibility and cytocompatibility of NZK alloy in vitro.Our data indicate that NZK alloy has excellent biocompatibility and thus can be considered as a potential degradable medical biomaterial for orthopedic applications. | WANG YongPing HE YaoHua ZHU ZhaoJin JIANG Yao ZHANG Jian NIU JiaLin MAO Lin YUAN GuangYin | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,17: | 8 |

| 3 | Generation of male-sterile soybean lines with the CRISPR/Cas9 system显示文摘Soybean [Glycine max(L.) Merr.] provides a rich source of plant protein and oil worldwide. The commercial use of transgenic technology in soybean has become a classical example of the application of biotechnology to crop improvement. Although genetically modified soybeans have achieved commercial success,hybrid soybean breeding is also a potential way to increase soybean yield. Soybean cytoplasmic malesterile(CMS) lines have been used in three-line hybrid breeding systems, but their application to exploiting soybean heterosis has been limited by rare germplasm resource of sterile lines. The generation of various genetic diversity male-sterile soybean lines will help to overcome the shortcoming. In this study,we used targeted editing of AMS homologs in soybean by CRISPR/Cas9 technology for the first time to generate stable male-sterile lines. Targeted editing of GmAMS1 resulted in a male-sterile phenotype,while editing of GmAMS2 failed to produce male-sterile lines. | 5 | Interbasin exchanges and their roles in global ocean circulation:A study based on 1 400 years' spin up of MOM4p1显示文摘A global prognostic model based on MOM4p1,which is a primitive equation nonBoussinesq numerical model,has been integrated with 1 400 years from the state of rest based on the realistic topography to study the long-term pattern of combined wind-driven and thermodynamically-driven general circulation.The model is driven by monthly climatological mean forces and includes 192×189 horizontal grids and31 pressure-based vertical levels.The main objective is to investigate the mass and heat transports at interbasin passages and their compensations and roles in the global ocean circulation under equilibrium state of long-term spin up.The kinetic energy analysis divides the spin up process into three stages:the quasi-stable state of wind driven current,the growing phase of thermodynamical circulation and the equilibrium state of thermohaline circulation.It is essential to spin up over a thousand years in order to reach the thermohaline equilibrium state from a state of rest.The Arctic Throughflow from the Bering Strait to the Greenland Sea and the Indonesian Throughflow(ITF)are captured and examined with their compensations and existing data.Analysis reveals that the slope structures of sea surface height are the dynamical driving mechanism of the Pacific-Arctic-Atlantic throughflow and ITF.The analysis denotes,in spite of O(1.4×106m3/s)of the southward volume transport in the northern Atlantic,that there is still O(1 PW)of heat transported northward since the northward currents in the upper layer carry much higher temperature water than the southward flowing northern Atlantic deep water(NADW).Meridional volume and heat transports are focused on the contributions to NADW renewals and Atlantic meridional overturning circulation(AMOC).Quantitative descriptions of the interbasin exchanges are explained by meridional compensations and supported by previous observations and numerical modeling results.Analysis indicates that the volume and heat exchanges on the interbasin passages proposed in this article manifest their hub roles in the Great Ocean Conveyor System. | ZHU Yaohua WEI Zexun FANG Guohong WANG Yonggang GUAN Yuping | 2014 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2014,33,1: | 2 |
| 6 | Vertical velocity and transport in the South China Sea显示文摘Deep water in the South China Sea is renewed by the cold and dense Luzon Strait overflow.However,from where and how the deep water upwells is poorly understood yet.Based on the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model reanalysis data,vertical velocity is derived to answer these questions.Domain-integrated vertical velocity is of two maxima,one in the shallow water and the other at depth,and separated by a layer of minimum at the bottom of the thermocline.Further analysis shows that this two-segmented vertical transport is attributed to the vertical compensation of subsurface water to the excessive outflow of shallow water and upward push of the dense Luzon Strait overflow,respectively.In the abyssal basin,the vertical transport increases upward from zero at the depth of 3500–4000 m and reaches a maximum of 1.5×10^(6) m^(3)/s at about 1500 m.Deep water upwells mainly from the northeastern and southwestern ends of the abyssal basin and off the continental slopes.To explain the upward velocity arising from slope breaks,a possible mechanism is proposed that an onshore velocity component can be derived from the deep western boundary current above steep slopes under bottom friction. | Yaohua Zhu Dingqi Wang Yonggang Wang Shujiang Li Tengfei Xu Zexun Wei | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,7: | 1 |

| 15 | Study on driver’s braking intention identification based on functional near-infrared spectroscopy显示文摘Purpose–Cooperative driving refers to a notion that intelligent system sharing controlling with human driver and completing driving task together.One of the key technologies is that the intelligent system can identify the driver’s driving intention in real time to implement consistent driving decisions.The purpose of this study is to establish a driver intention prediction model.Design/methodology/approach–The authors used the NIRx device to measure the cerebral cortex activities for identifying the driver’s braking intention.The experiment was carried out in a virtual reality environment.During the experiment,the driving simulator recorded the driving data and the functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)device recorded the changes in hemoglobin concentration in the cerebral cortex.After the experiment,the driver’s braking intention identification model was established through the principal component analysis and back propagation neural network.Findings–The research results showed that the accuracy of the model established in this paper was 80.39 per cent.And,the model could identify the driver’s braking intent prior to his braking operation.Research limitations/implications–The limitation of this study was that the experimental environment was ideal and did not consider the surrounding traffic.At the same time,other actions of the driver were not taken into account when establishing the braking intention recognition model.Besides,the verification results obtained in this paper could only reflect the results of a few drivers’identification of braking intention.Practical implications–This study can be used as a reference for future research on driving intention through fNIRS,and it also has a positive effect on the research of brain-controlled driving.At the same time,it has developed new frontiers for intention recognition of cooperative driving.Social implications–This study explores new directions for future brain-controlled driving and wheelchairs.Originality/value–The driver’s driving intention was predicted through the fNIRS device for the first time. | Lei Zhu Shuguang Li Yaohua Li Min Wang Yanyu Li Jin Yao | 2018 | Journal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles2018,1,3: | 0 |
| 16 | Interpenetrating structure for efficient Sb_(2)Se_(3) nanorod array solar cells loaded with CuInSe_(2) QDs sensitizer显示文摘The strong anisotropic electrical properties of one-dimensional(1 D) nanostructure semiconductors,especially the anisotropic carrier transport, have a negative and significant influence on the performance of solar cells if the nanostructures have random orientation. Considering the advantages of nanorod solar cells in carrier transport, we have achieved growth of vertically aligned Sb_(2)Se_(3) nanorod array with highly(hk1) orientation on Cd S substrate, and constructed superstrate nanorod solar cells for the first time. The Sb_(2)Se_(3) nanorod array solar cells exhibit the more efficient and long-range carrier transport in vertical direction. Furthermore, in order to suppress interface recombination, a CuInSe_(2) quantum dots(QDs) sensitizer has been applied to fill the volume between the nanorods completely, thus forming an interpenetrating nanocomposite structure. The CuInSe_(2) QDs can harvest additional light by absorption of visible light and contribute photocurrent. Meantime, the QDs function as a hole transport material and thus reduce the dependence of lateral transport. Consequently, the interpenetrating nanocomposite CuInSe_(2) / Sb_(2)Se_(3) solar cells display a power conversion efficiency of 7.54% with significant enhancements in the short-circuit current density and open-circuit voltage over pure Sb_(2)Se_(3) nanorod cells. | 19 | Novel strategy for disease risk prediction incorporating predicted gene expression and DNA methylation data:a multi-phased study of prostate cancer显示文摘Background:DNA methylation and gene expression are known to play important roles in the etiology of human diseases such as prostate cancer(PCa).However,it has not yet been possible to incorporate information of DNA methylation and gene expression into polygenic risk scores(PRSs).Here,we aimed to develop and validate an improved PRS for PCa risk by incorporating genetically predicted gene expression and DNA methylation,and other genomic information using an integrative method.Methods:Using data from the PRACTICAL consortium,we derived multiple sets of genetic scores,including those based on available single-nucleotide polymorphisms through widely used methods of pruning and thresholding,LDpred,LDpred-funt,AnnoPred,and EBPRS,as well as PRS constructed using the genetically predicted gene expression and DNA methylation through a revised pruning and thresholding strategy.In the tuning step,using the UK Biobank data(1458 prevalent cases and 1467 controls),we selected PRSs with the best performance.Using an independent set of data from the UK Biobank,we developed an integrative PRS combining information from individual scores.Furthermore,in the testing step,we tested the performance of the integrative PRS in another independent set of UK Biobank data of incident cases and controls.Results:Our constructed PRS had improved performance(C statistics:76.1%)over PRSs constructed by individual benchmark methods(from 69.6%to 74.7%).Furthermore,our new PRS had much higher risk assessment power than family history.The overall net reclassification improvement was 69.0%by adding PRS to the baseline model compared with 12.5%by adding family history.Conclusions:We developed and validated a new PRS which may improve the utility in predicting the risk of developing PCa.Our innovative method can also be applied to other human diseases to improve risk prediction across multiple outcomes. | Chong Wu Jingjing Zhu Austin King Xiaoran Tong Qing Lu Jong Y.Park Liang Wang Guimin Gao Hong-Wen Deng Yaohua Yang Karen E.Knudsen Timothy R.Rebbeck Jirong Long Wei Zheng Wei Pan David V.Conti Christopher A Haiman Lang Wu | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,12: | 0 |
