Bio-inspired polygonal skeleton structure for vibration isolation:Design, modelling, and experiment显示文摘Inspired by the safe landing of a cat falling from a high altitude,a bio-inspired polygonal skeleton(BIPS) structure is proposed, and its nonlinear characteristics are systematically studied to explore its potential application in the suppression of vibration. The polygon is formed by the skeleton structure of the cat’s entire body and the ground. The BIPS system consists of two symmetrical bionic legs with three robs(as skeleton) and four horizontal springs(as muscle). Two bionic legs are connected through the bearing platform(as spine),which could adjust the distance between the two bionic legs. A theoretical model is developed to characterize its stiffness nonlinearity through geometrical and mechanical analysis. Parameter analysis reveals that the BIPS structure has diverse stiffness, including nonlinear positive stiffness and negative stiffness. By imitating adjustment of leg posture and telescopic function of the spine(control the distance between legs),these flexible stiffness properties can be adjusted by structure parameters. In addition, the load capacity and working range can also be designed by the length of the bars, the initial angle, the mounting position, and the spring stiffness. The experimental setup is established, and the vibration isolation performance under various excitation is tested. The experimental results verify the accuracy of the dynamic model and also show that the proposed BIPS structure can suppress the vibration effectively under a variety of excitations. These peculiarities may provide potential possibility of an innovative approach to passive vibration control and isolation. | YAN Ge WANG Sen ZOU HongXiang ZHAO LinChuan GAO QiuHua ZHANG WenMing | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,12: | 5
Design, modeling and experimental investigation of a magnetically modulated rotational energy harvester for low frequency and irregular vibration显示文摘Vibration energy harvesting is a promising approach for sustainable energy generation from ambience to meet the development of self-powered systems. Here,we propose a novel compact non-resonant magnetically modulated rotational energy harvester(MMR-EH)for low frequency and irregular vibration.Through the rational arrangement of multiple magnetic fields in space,a ring route with low potential energy is established.A movable magnet can be non-contact modulated by the magnetic force to move along the ring route under irregular vibration, which is instrumental in electromechanical energy conversion.A dynamic model of the MMR-EH is developed based on the energy method and verified experimentally. The effects of key parameters on the magnetically modulated route are analysed. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the MMR-EH can effectively harvest the energy from ultra-low frequency(3 Hz)and irregular vibration. At a reciprocating vibration frequency of 10 Hz and an amplitude of 20 mm,the harvester can produce an average power of 0.29 mW. | ZHAO LinChuan ZOU HongXiang GAO QiuHua YAN Ge WU ZhiYuan LIU FengRui WEI KeXiang YANG Bin ZHANG WenMing | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,10: | 5
Magnetic levitation using diamagnetism:Mechanism, applications and prospects显示文摘As a typical contact-free manipulation technique that removes friction and contamination risk, levitation has gradually become a preferred candidate for various applications.Magnetic levitation using diamagnetism, beyond Earnshaw’s theorem,is a kind of passive stable levitation that can be achieved at normal temperatures with no energy input.Appealingly, most seemingly nonmagnetic materials can be levitated in a magnetic field and can stabilize free levitation of magnetic materials. This review focuses on the fundamental principles of magnetic levitation using diamagnetism, with emphasis on its burgeoning applications. The theoretical basis associated with the magnetic levitation using diamagnetism is discussed by elucidating the characteristics of diamagnetic materials, and the key levitation mechanisms are clarified.Afterwards,state-of-the-art applications in various aspects, including sensing and measurement, actuating and micromanipulation, energy harvesting and magnetic gravity compensation, are summarized and compared. Finally, the review concludes with a brief outlook on future perspectives. | GAO QiuHua YAN Han ZOU HongXiang LI WenBo PENG ZhiKe MENG Guang ZHANG WenMing | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,1: | 3
Metabolic regulation of T cell development by Sinl-mTORC2 is mediated by pyruvate kinase M2显示文摘Glucose metabolism plays a key role in thymocyte development. The mammalian target of rapamycin complex 2 (mT0RC2) is a critical regulator of cell growth and metabolism, but its role in early thymocyte development and metabolism has not been fully studied. We show here that genetic ablation of Sinl, an essential component of mTORC2, in T lineage cells results in severely impaired thymocyte development at the CD4^- CD8^- double negative (DN) stages but not at the CD4^+ CD8^+ double positive (DP) or later stages. Notably, Sinl-deficient DN thymocytes show markedly reduced proliferation and glycolysis.Importantly, we discover that the M2 isoform of pyruvate kinase (PKM2) is a novel and crucial Sinl effector in promoting DN thymocyte development and metabolism. At the molecular level, we show that Sinl-mTORC2 controls PKM2 expression through an AKT-dependent PPAR-y nuclear translocation. Together, our study unravels a novel mTORC2-PPAR-γ-PKM2 pathway in immune-metabolic regulation of early thymocyte development. | Xinxing Ouyang Yuheng Han Guojun Qu Man Li Ningbo Wu Hongzhi Liu Omotooke Arojo Hongxiang Sun Xiaobo Liu Dou Liu Lei Chen Qiang Zou Bing Su | 2019 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2019,11,2: | 3

Multifunctional all-polymer photovoltaic blend with simultaneously improved efficiency(18.04%),stability and mechanical durability显示文摘One of the most appealing material systems for solar energy conversion is allpolymer blend.Presently, the three key merits(power conversion efficiency, operation stability and mechanical robustness)exhibited a trade-off in a particular all-polymer blend system, which greatly limit its commercial application.Diverting the classic ternary tactic of organic solar cells based on polymer, nonfullerene small molecule and fullerene, herein we demonstrate that the three merits of a benchmark all-polymer blend PM6:PY-IT can be simultaneously maximized via the introduction of a polymerized fullerene derivative PPCBMB.Importantly, the addition of the guest component promoted the power conversion efficiency of PM6:PY-IT blend from 16.59%to 18.04%.Meanwhile,the device stability and film ductility are also improved due to the addition of this polymerized fullerene material.Morphology and device physics analyses reveal that optimal ternary system contains well-maintained molecular packing and crystallinity, being beneficial to keeping favorable charge transport and the reduced domain size contributed to charge generation and ductility improvement.Furthermore, the ternary photovoltaic blend was successfully used as photocatalysts, and an excellent heavy metal removal from water was demonstrated. This study showcases the multi-functions of all-polymer blends via the use of polymerized fullerenes. | Tao Liu Kangkang Zhou Ruijie Ma Libin Zhang Ciyuan Huang Zhenghui Luo Hongxiang Zhu Shangfei Yao Chuluo Yang Bingsuo Zou Long Ye | 2023 | Aggregate2023,4,3: | 0
Enhanced galloping energy harvester with cooperative mode of vibration and collision显示文摘The low power and narrow speed range remain bottlenecks that constrain the application of small-scale wind energy harvesting. This paper proposes a simple, lowcost, and reliable method to address these critical issues.A galloping energy harvester with the cooperative mode of vibration and collision(GEH-VC)is presented.A pair of curved boundaries attached with functional materials are introduced, which not only improve the performance of the vibration energy harvesting system, but also convert more mechanical energy into electrical energy during collision. The beam deforms and the piezoelectric energy harvester(PEH)generates electricity during the flow-induced vibration. In addition, the beam contacts and separates from the boundaries, and the triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)generates electricity during the collision. In order to reduce the influence of the boundaries on the aerodynamic performance and the feasibility of increasing the working area of the TENG,a vertical structure is designed. When the wind speed is high, the curved boundaries maintain a stable amplitude of the vibration system and increase the frequency of the vibration system, thereby avoiding damage to the piezoelectric sheet and improving the electromechanical conversion efficiency, and the TENG works with the PEH to generate electricity.Since the boundaries can protect the PEH at high wind speeds, its stiffness can be designed to be low to start working at low wind speeds. The electromechanical coupling dynamic model is established according to the GEH-VC operating principle and is verified experimentally. The results show that the GEH-VC has a wide range of operating wind speeds, and the average power can be increased by 180%compared with the traditional galloping PEH.The GEH-VC prototype is demonstrated to power a commercial temperature sensor. This study provides a novel perspective on the design of hybrid electromechanical conversion mechanisms, that is,to combine and collaborate based on their respective characteristics. | Qiong WANG Zewen CHEN Linchuan ZHAO Meng LI Hongxiang ZOU Kexiang WEI Xizheng ZHANG Wenming ZHANG | 2022 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2022,43,7: | 0
Enhanced triboelectric output of PDMS-based composite film with bi-material filling and surface patterning显示文摘Triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)are highly promising energy-harvesting devices that exhibit considerable potential for use in self-powered wearable electronics.Nano/microfillers and surface microstructure modification have been proposed to improve the triboelectric performance of TENGs.In this work,performance-enhanced flexible polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)was developed through bi-material(reduced graphene oxide/fluorinated ethylene propylene,rGO/FEP)modification and filtrationmembrane-patterned surface microstructure. The rGO/FEP with high charge-inducing and-trapping capabilities can be used as the dielectric-enhanced filler for improving triboelectricity.Ordered micro-dents of 5–50μm are created on the modified PDMS surface with an increased contact area of TENG.Compared with the pure PDMS,the modified PDMS film-based TENG could deliver a substantial enhancement in power density(0.87 mW cm^(-2))by 28 times.Further, the versatility of this device is demonstrated in human activity monitoring and capacitor charging. This work provided a simple,high-tunability,and scalable approach for improving the output performance of TENGs for biomechanical energy-harvesting devices that can be integrated into self-powering wearable electronics. | LIU Sheng LIAO SiHua LIU Dan ZHAO Rong ZHOU Teng YAN WenYuan WEI KeXiang ZOU HongXiang ZHAO LinChuan | 2023 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,10: | 0
