Lactate metabolism in human health and disease显示文摘The current understanding of lactate extends from its origins as a byproduct of glycolysis to its role in tumor metabolism,as identified by studies on the Warburg effect. The lactate shuttle hypothesis suggests that lactate plays an important role as a bridging signaling molecule that coordinates signaling among different cells, organs and tissues.Lactylation is a posttranslational modification initially reported by Professor Yingming Zhao’s research group in 2019.Subsequent studies confirmed that lactylation is a vital component of lactate function and is involved in tumor proliferation, neural excitation, inflammation and other biological processes. An indispensable substance for various physiological cellular functions, lactate plays a regulatory role in different aspects of energy metabolism and signal transduction. Therefore,a comprehensive review and summary of lactate is presented to clarify the role of lactate in disease and to provide a reference and direction for future research. This review offers a systematic overview of lactate homeostasis and its roles in physiological and pathological processes,as well as a comprehensive overview of the effects of lactylation in various diseases, particularly inflammation and cancer. | Xiaolu Li Yanyan Yang Bei Zhang Xiaotong Lin Xiuxiu Fu Yi An Yulin Zou Jian-Xun Wang Zhibin Wang Tao Yu | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,10: | 9
Survival of people living with HIV after treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine in Henan province of China: a retrospective cohortstudy显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To provide survival estimates of people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLHIV) after treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in rural China, to identify the prognostic factors at enrollment, and to explore the effectiveness of TCM intreating PLHIV.METHODS: PLHIV who enrolled in national TCM HIV treatment trial program in October 2004 were analyzed in this study and followed up to October 2010. Survival time was estimated by the Kaplan-Meier curve and hazard ratios, and identifying prognostic factors were computed through Cox proportional hazard models.RESULTS:A total of 1666 PLHIV were included with 102 591 person-months of follow-up. Overall, 312(18.7%) patients died. The total mortality rate over the study period was 3.6 per 100 person-years,which was lower than the worldwide rate. The cumulative survival rate was 95.9% at 1 year[95% confidence interval(CI)(94.8-96.8)] and 80.4% at 6years [95% CI(78.4-82.3)]. Elevated death risks emerged among males, older individuals, and thosewithlowerCD4+T-cellcounts.CONCLUSION: TCM could increase survival and lengthen the life span of PLHIV in Henan province of China, as shown by our retrospective cohort study. Factors such as sex, age, education, and CD4+ T-cell counts correlated to survival. However, retrospective cohorts bias the data, so more prospective studies should be performed to confirm our primary results. | Yantao Jin Zhibin Liu Xiumin Chen Xin Wang Dan Wang Ziqiang Jiang Ying Liu Jian Wang Wen Zou Huijun Guo Liran Xu | 2014 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,4: | 8
Tolerance of nestin^+ cholinergic neurons in the basal forebrain against colchicine-induced cytotoxicity显示文摘In the present study we injected colchicine into the lateral ventricle of Sprague-Dawley rats to investigate the effects of colchicine on the number of different-type neurons in the basal forebrain and to search for neurons resistant to injury. After colchicine injection, the number of nestin+ cholinergic neurons was decreased at 1 day,but increased at 3 days and peaked at 14-28 days. The quantity of nestin-cholinergic neurons,parvalbumin-positive neurons and choline acetyl transferase-positive neurons decreased gradually. Our results indicate that nestin+ cholinergic neurons possess better tolerance to colchicine-induced neurotoxicity. | Jing Yu Kaihua Guo Dongpei Li Jinhai Duan Juntao Zou Junhua Yang Zhibin Yao | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,24: | 4
Labeled box-particle CPHD filter for multiple extended targets tracking显示文摘In multiple extended targets tracking, replacing traditional multiple measurements with a rectangular region of the nonzero volume in the state space inspired by the box-particle idea is exactly suitable to deal with extended targets, without distinguishing the measurements originating from the true targets or clutter.Based on our recent work on extended box-particle probability hypothesis density(ET-BP-PHD) filter, we propose the extended labeled box-particle cardinalized probability hypothesis density(ET-LBP-CPHD) filter, which relaxes the Poisson assumptions of the extended target probability hypothesis density(PHD) filter in target numbers, and propagates not only the intensity function but also cardinality distribution. Moreover, it provides the identity of individual target by adding labels to box-particles. The proposed filter can improve the precision of estimating target number meanwhile achieve targets' tracks. The effectiveness and reliability of the proposed algorithm are verified by the simulation results. | ZOU Zhibin SONG Liping CHENG Xuan | 2019 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2019,30,1: | 3

Arabidopsis F-BOX STRESS INDUCED 4 is required to repress excessive divisions in stomatal development显示文摘During the terminal stage of stomatal development, the R2 R3-MYB transcription factors FOUR LIPS(FLP/MYB124) and MYB88 limit guard mother cell division by repressing the transcript levels of multiple cell-cycle genes. In Arabidopsis thaliana possessing the weak allele flp-1, an extra guard mother cell division results in two stomata having direct contact. Here, we identified an ethylmethane sulfonatemutagenized mutant, flp-1 xs01 c, which exhibited more severe defects than flp-1 alone, producing gianttumor-like cell clusters. XS01 C, encoding F-BOX STRESS-INDUCED 4(FBS4), is preferentially expressed in epidermal stomatal precursor cells.Overexpressing FBS4 rescued the defective stomatal phenotypes of flp-1 xs01 c and flp-1 mutants. The deletion or substitution of a conserved residue(Proline166) within the F-box domain of FBS4 abolished or reduced, respectively, its interaction with Arabidopsis Skp1-Like1(ASK1), the core subunit of the Skp1/Cullin/F-box E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. Furthermore, the FBS4 protein physically interacted with CYCA2;3 and induced its degradation through the ubiquitin-26 S proteasome pathway. Thus, in addition to the known transcriptional pathway, the terminal symmetric division in stomatal development is ensured at the post-translational level, such as through the ubiquitination of target proteins recognized by the stomatal lineage F-box protein FBS4. | Yi Li Shan Xue Qixiumei He Junxue Wang Lingling Zhu Junjie Zou Jie Zhang Chaoran Zuo Zhibin Fan Junling Yue Chunxia Zhang Kezhen Yang Jie Le | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,1: | 0
GP30 of the mycobacteriophage CASbig impairs mycobacterial adaptation during acidic stress and in macrophages显示文摘The rapid emergence of multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant Tuberculosis retrieved intense interest in phage-based therapy. This old approach, which was abandoned in the west in the 1940s but is generating renewed interest, has stimulated fresh research on mycobacteriophages and their lytic efficiency against their hosts.GP30 is a novel protein of the mycobacteriophage CASbig with undiscovered function. In this study,we analyzed the role of CASbig gp30 in the host Mycobacterium smegmatis.Overexpression of gp30 in the host led to reduced growth in acidic medium and attenuated the intracellular survival rate of M.smegmatis inside the THP-1 macrophages, which may be linked to the altered lipid profile of the recombinant bacterial cell wall.In a word, this study suggested that gp30,a novel gene from a mycobacteriophage, modulated lipid composition and content to hamper the survivability of bacteria under stress conditions. | WU LI JIANGZHE SI SHUAI QIU JING LUO HUIQIONG SUN XIAOQING LI ZHIBIN WAN WEI GAO HANLU ZOU LEI ZHANG XIAOHONG XIANG YANZHANG LI TIESHAN TENG | 2020 | BIOCELL2020,44,4: | 0
High-sensitivity and fast-response fiber optic temperature sensor using an anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide mechanism显示文摘Temperature sensing is essential for human health monitoring.High-sensitivity(>1 nm∕℃)fiber sensors always require long interference paths and temperature-sensitive materials, leading to a long sensor and thus slow response(6–14 s).To date,it is still challenging for a fiber optic temperature sensor to have an ultrafast(~ms)response simultaneously with high sensitivity. Here,a side-polished single-mode/hollow/single-mode fiber(SPSHSF)structure is proposed to meet the challenge by using the length-independent sensitivity of an anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide mechanism. With a polydimethylsiloxane filled sub-nanoliter volume cavity in the SP-SHSF,the SP-SHSF exhibits a high temperature sensitivity of 4.223 nm/℃ with a compact length of 1.6 mm,allowing an ultrafast response(16 ms)and fast recovery time(176 ms).The figure of merit(FOM),defined as the absolute ratio of sensitivity to response time,is proposed to assess the comprehensive performance of the sensor. The FOM of the proposed sensor reaches up to 263.94(nm/℃)∕s,which is more than two to three orders of magnitude higher than those of other temperature fiber optic sensors reported previously.Additionally,a threemonth cycle test shows that the sensor is highly robust, with excellent reversibility and accuracy, allowing it to be incorporated with a wearable face mask for detecting temperature changes during human breathing. The high FOM and high stability of the proposed sensing fiber structure provide an excellent opportunity to develop both ultrafast and highly sensitive fiber optic sensors for wearable respiratory monitoring and contactless in vitro detection. | ZHIBIN LI ZIYE WU ZHUOQI LI LIANGXUN OU WENXIANG ZHANG ZHICONG LAI YU ZHANG MENGYUAN XIE JIEYUAN TANG WENGUO ZHU HUADAN ZHENG YONGCHUN ZHONG XIONG DENG XIHUA ZOU ZHE CHEN JIANHUI YU | 2023 | Photonics Research2023,11,8: | 0
