1One-year clinical study of NeuroR egen scaffold implantation following scar resection in complete chronic spinal cord injury patients显示文摘The objective of this clinical study was to assess the safety and feasibility of the collagen scaffold, Neuro Regen scaffold, one year after scar tissue resection and implantation. Scar tissue is a physical and chemical barrier that prevents neural regeneration. However, identification of scar tissue is still a major challenge. In this study, the nerve electrophysiology method was used to distinguish scar tissue from normal neural tissue, and then different lengths of scars ranging from 0.5–4.5 cm were surgically resected in five complete chronic spinal cord injury(SCI) patients. The NeuroR egen scaffold along with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells(BMMCs), which have been proven to promote neural regeneration and SCI recovery in animal models, were transplanted into the gap in the spinal cord following scar tissue resection. No obvious adverse effects related to scar resection or Neuro Regen scaffold transplantation were observed immediately after surgery or at the 12-month follow-up. In addition, patients showed partially autonomic nervous function improvement, and the recovery of somatosensory evoked potentials(SSEP) from the lower limbs was also detected. 2Screening of aptamers and their potential application in targeted diagnosis and therapy of liver cancer显示文摘Aptamers are a class of single oligonucleotide molecules(DNA or RNA)that are screened from random DNA or RNA oligonucleotide chain libraries by the systemic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment technology.The selected aptamers are capable of specifically binding to different targeting molecules,which is achieved by the three-dimensional structure of aptamers.Aptamers are similar in function to monoclonal antibodies,and therefore,they are also referred to as'chemical antibodies'.Due to their high affinity and specificity and low immunogenicity,aptamers are topics of intense interest in today's biological targeting research especially in tumor research.They not only have high potential for clinical advances in tumor targeting detection but also are highly promising as targeted tumor drug carriers for use in tumor therapy.Various experimental studies have shown that aptamer-based diagnostic and therapeutic methods for liver cancer have great potential for application.This paper summarizes the structure,characteristics,and screening methods of aptamers and reviews the recent research progress on nucleic acid aptamers in the targeted diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer.Guo-Qing Zhang Li-Ping Zhong Nuo Yang Yong-Xiang Zhao 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,26:7
3Application of next-generation sequencing to screen for pathogenic mutations in 123 unrelated Chinese patients with Marfan syndrome or a related disease显示文摘Marfan syndrome(MFS) is a systemic connective tissue disease principally affecting the ocular, skeletal and cardiovascular systems. This autosomal dominant disorder carries a prevalence of 1:3,000 to 1:5,000. This study aims to define the mutational spectrum of MFS related genes in Chinese patients and to establish genotype-phenotype correlations in MFS. Panel-based targeted next-generation sequencing was used to analyze the FBN1, TGFBR1 and TGFBR2 genes in 123 unrelated Chinese individuals with MFS or a related disease. Genotype-phenotype correlation analyses were performed in mutation-positive patients. The results showed that 97 cases/families(78.9%;97/123) harbor at least one(likely) pathogenic mutation, most of which were in FBN1;four patients had TGFBR1/2 mutations;and one patient harbored a SMAD3 mutation. Three patients had two FBN1 mutations, and all patients showed classical MFS phenotypes. Patients with a dominant negative-FBN1 mutation had a higher prevalence of ectopia lentis(EL). Patients carrying a haploinsufficiency-FBN1 mutation tended to have aortic dissection without EL. 4Spatial difference features and organization optimization of cities and towns in Tarim River Basin显示文摘This paper analyzes the urban spatial structure of Tarim River Basin from the perspectives of urbanization, urban density, grading scales and spatial evolution patterns, using geographical theories and methods, such as fractal theory, principle component analysis, urbanization imbalance index, urban scale imbalance indicator, and urban spatial interaction. The results show that the urban spatial structure displays balanced distribution in the overall pattern, while an imbalanced distribution in each region. The development of town pattern tends to be gathering to the central towns in the oasis of Tarim River Basin and a development axis has begun to form along the southern Xinjiang railway. Based on the division of urban hinterland, and the development characteristics of oasis economy, this paper puts forward an urban spatial organization model. This model uses 'breakpoint model' and divides Tarim River Basin into five urban clusters: Korla urban cluster, Kuqa urban cluster, Aksu urban cluster, Kashgar urban cluster and Hotan urban cluster. 7Keratin 5-Cre-driven deletion of Ncstn in an acne inversa-like mouse model leads to a markedly increased IL-36a and Sprr2 expression显示文摘Familial acne inversa (AI) is an autoinflammatory disorder that affects hair follicles and is caused by loss-of-function mutations in y-secretase component genes.We and other researchers showed that nicastrin (NCSTN) is the most frequently mutated gene in familial AI.In this study,we generated a keratin 5-Cre-driven epidermis-specific Ncstn conditional knockout mutant in mice.We determined that this mutant recapitulated the major phenotypes of AI,including hyperkeratosis of hair follicles and inflammation.In Ncstnflox/flox;K5-Cre mice,the IL-36a expression level markedly increased starting from postnatal day 0 (P0),and this increase occurred much earlier than those of TNF-α,IL-23A,IL-1 3,and TLR4.RNA-Seq analysis indicated that Sprr2d,a member of the small proline-rich protein 2 family,in the skin tissues of the Ncstnflox/flox,;K5-Cre mice was also upregulated on P0.Quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction showed that other Sprr2 genes had a similar expression pattern.Our findings suggested that IL-36a might be a key inflammatory cytokine in the pathophysiology of AI and implicate malfunction of the skin barrier in the pathogenesis of AI.Jun Yang Lianqing Wang Yingzhi Huang Keqiang Liu Chaoxia Lu Nuo Si Rongrong Wang Yaping Liu Xue Zhang 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,3:2

16Microbes team with nanoscale zero-valent iron: A robust route for degradation of recalcitrant pollutants显示文摘Integrating nanoscale zero-valent iron(nZVI) with biological treatment processes holds the promise of inheriting significant advantages from both environmental nano-and biotechnologies. nZVI and microbes can perform in coalition in direct contact and act simultaneously, or be maintained in separate reactors and operated sequentially. Both modes can generate enhanced performance for wastewater treatment and environmental remediation. nZVI scavenges and eliminates toxic metals, and enhances biodegradability of some recalcitrant contaminants while bioprocesses serve to mineralize organic compounds and further remove impurities from wastewater. This has been demonstrated in a number of recent works that nZVI can substantially augment the performance of conventional biological treatment for wastewaters from textile and nonferrous metal industries. Our recent laboratory and field tests show that COD of the industrial effluents can be reduced to a record-low of 50 ppm. 20Changes in the Urban Surface Thermal Environment of a Chinese Coastal City Revealed by Downscaling MODIS LST with Random Forest Algorithm显示文摘Analysis of the formation and evolution of urban surface thermal environment is crucial for urban planning and improving the environment of a settlement.Qingdao was selected in this study as a typical coastal city undergoing rapid urbanization,and the spatiotemporal dynamic characteristics of its urban surface thermal environment from2010 to 2019 were evaluated.The random forest(RF)algorithm was adopted to obtain its land surface temperature(LST)map with 30-m resolution by downscaling the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)LST product;the remote sensing indices emphasizing different land cover types,LST calculated by the radiative transfer equation,and elevation were used as input variables in the algorithm.The heat island intensity(HII),urban heat island(UHI)volume,and UHI grade were used to analyze the spatiotemporal dynamic characteristics of the urban surface thermal environment in Qingdao.The results show an increasing trend in average HII between 1.1 and 2.52°C in the study area over the past 10 years.The northern city appeared to have the highest UHI volume,while change of the UHI volume in Huangdao District of southwestern Qingdao was the most significant.The areas with high HII have gradually expanded during the last 10 years,and the areas with a 10-yr persistently high HII are distributed mainly in old urban areas with high building density and a dense population.Different factors may influence UHI,such as artificial heat sources,surface heat sources,and hybrid heat sources.Finally,adjusting the urban structure,increasing the vegetated area,and changing building colors are proposed to mitigate UHI in the areas with continuously high HII.Nuo XU Fan DENG Bingqi LIU Caixia LI Hancong FU Huan YANG Jiahua ZHANG 2021Journal of Meteorological Research2021,35,5:1
