1Fundamentals of phase-only liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) devices显示文摘This paper describes the fundamentals of phase-only liquid crystal on silicon(LCOS)technology, which have not been previously discussed in detail. This technology is widely utilized in high efficiency applications for real-time holography and diffractive optics. The paper begins with a brief introduction on the developmental trajectory of phase-only LCOS technology, followed by the correct selection of liquid crystal(LC)materials and corresponding electro-optic effects in such devices.Attention is focused on the essential requirements of the physical aspects of the LC layer as well as the indispensable parameters for the response time of the device.Furthermore, the basic functionalities embedded in the complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)silicon backplane for phase-only LCOS devices are illustrated, including two typical addressing schemes. Finally, the application of phase-only LCOS devices in real-time holography will be introduced in association with the use of cutting-edge computer-generated holograms.Zichen Zhang Zheng You Daping Chu 2014Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1:25
2Dynamic Crushing Strength Analysis of Auxetic Honeycombs显示文摘The in-plane dynamic crushing behavior of re-entrant honeycomb is analyzed and compared with the conventional hexagon topology.Detailed deformation modes along two orthogonal directions are examined, where a parametric study of the effect of impact velocity and cell wall aspect ratio is performed. An analytical formula of the dynamic crushing strength is then deduced based on the periodic collapse mechanism of cell structures.Comparisons with the finite element results validate the effectiveness of the proposed analytical method.Numerical results also reveal higher plateau stress of re-entrant honeycomb over conventional hexagon topology, implying better energy absorption properties. The underlying physical understanding of the results is emphasized, where the auxetic effect(negative Poisson's ratio) induced in the re-entrant topology is believed to be responsible for this superior impact resistance.Xiuhui Hou Zichen Deng Kai Zhang 2016Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2016,29,5:16

4Coupling effects of tungsten and molybdenum on microstructure and stress-rupture properties of a nickel-base cast superalloy显示文摘In order to comprehensively understand the forming mechanism of abnormal phases solidified in a nickel-base cast superalloy with additives of tungsten and molybdenum, the coupling effects of W and Mo on the microstructure and stress-rupture properties were investigated in this paper. The results indicated that the precipitation of primary α-(W, Mo) phase depended tremendously on the amount of W and Mo addition. When the total amount of W and Mo was greater than 5.79 at%, α-(W, Mo) phase became easily precipitated in the alloy. With increasing of Mo/W ratio, the dendrite-like α-(W, Mo) phases were apt to convert into small bars or blockylike phases at the vicinities of γ′/γ eutectic. The morphological changes of α-(W, Mo) phase can be interpreted as the non-equilibrium solidification of W and Mo in the alloy. Since the large sized α-(W, Mo) phase has detrimental effects on stress-rupture properties in as-cast conditions, secondary cracks may mainly initiate at and then propagate along the interfaces of brittle phases and soft matrix. During exposing at 1100 ℃ for 1000 h, the α-(W, Mo) phases transformed gradually into bigger and harder M_6C carbide, which results in decreasing of stress-rupture properties of the alloy. Finally, the alloy with an addition of 14W-1Mo(wt%) maintained the longest stress lives at high temperatures and therefore it revealed the best microstructure stability after 1100 ℃/1000 h thermal exposure.Tongjin Zhou Wei Feng Huibin Zhao Yu Meng Huaxia Zhang Hongsheng Ding Zichen Wang 2018Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2018,28,1:7
5Targeted Fully Homomorphic Encryption Based on a Double Decryption Algorithm for Polynomials显示文摘Several public-key encryption schemes used to solve the problem of ciphertext data processing on the fly are discussed.A new targeted fully homomorphic encryption scheme based on the discrete logarithm problem is presented.Public-key encryption cryptosystems are classified to examine homomorphic encryption.Without employing techniques proposed by Gentry such as somewhat homomorphic and bootstrapping techniques,or relinearization technique proposed by Brakerski et al.,a new method called'Double Decryption Algorithm'is employed in our cryptography to satisfy a fully or targeted fully homomorphic property.Inspired by ElGamal and BGN cryptography,we obtain the desired fully homomorphic property by selecting a new group and adding an extra component to the ciphertext.Proof of semantic security is also demonstrated.Yatao Yang Shuang Zhang Junming Yang Jia Li Zichen Li 2014Tsinghua Science and Technology2014,19,5:6
6First-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy in 106 patients with compound EGFR-mutated lung cancer: a single institution’s clinical practice experience显示文摘Background:The antitumour efficacy of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs)in lung cancer patients with compound epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutations has not been resolved. Our study summarizes a single institutional experience of first-generation TKI therapy for lung cancers with compound EGFR mutations. Methods:A total of 106 consecutive patients with tumours bearing compound EGFR mutations were identified between January 2012 and May 2016;all patients received first-generation TKI therapy.Deletions in exon 19 and the L858R point mutation in exon 21 were considered common mutations;T790M was considered separately because of its association with TKIs resistances.Any other mutation was defined as a rare mutation.Patients were divided as follows:double common mutations(group A);common plus T790M mutations(group B);common plus rare muta-tions(group C);double rare mutations(group D);and rare plus T790M mutations(group E).A separate group of 115 consecutive patients with a single common mutation was created for comparative analysis(group F).Results:The frequency of patients with compound EGFR was 2.9%(114/3925)and their response rate to first-genera-tion TKIs was 50.9%,which was not significantly different from group F(67.0%,P=0.088).The progression-free survival(PFS)of the 106 patients receiving TKI therapy was worse than that of group F(median,9.1 vs.13.0 months,respec-tively;P<0.001).The PFS of the compound mutation group was shorter than that of the single common mutation group(median,10.1 months in group A,P=0.240;9.1 months in group B,P<0.001;9.6 months in group C,P=0.010;6.5 months in group D,P=0.048;5.4 months in group E,P=0.017).Patients with a co-occurring mutation in exon 20(excluding T790M)exhibited significantly worse PFS than the patients with other compound mutations or with a single common mutation(median,6.5 vs.9.1 vs.13.0 months,respectively,P=0.002).Conclusions:There was significant heterogeneity among the compound EGFR mutations and their response to first-generation TKIs.Individualized treatment in clinical practice should be considered for each case.Xiangyang Yu Xuewen Zhang Zichen Zhang Yongbin Lin Yingsheng Wen Yongqiang Chen Weidong Wang Lanjun Zhang 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:5

8Aberrant seed development in Litchi chinensis is associated with the impaired expression of cell wall invertase genes显示文摘Cell wall invertase(CWIN)are known to play important roles in seed development. However, most reports to date have focused on a single gene family member, and have mainly investigated CWIN functions during the filling stage of seed development. In this study,we found significant lower levels of CWIN protein and activity associated with seed abortion in the Litchi chinensis cultivar“Nuomici.”We identified five litchi CWIN genes and observed that the expression of LcCWIN5 was limited to the flower tissues and decreased sharply with fruit development.Silencing of LcCWIN5 expression before 28 DAA(cell division stage)resulted in perturbed liquid endosperm development, smaller seeds, and higher seed abortion rate, while silencing after 28 DAA(filling stage)had no effect on seed development. In contrast,LcCWIN2 was mostly expressed in the funicle and seed coat, and increased with fruit development.Decreased LcCWIN2 expression and CWIN activity during early seed filling coincided with smaller seeds in the cultivar“Feizixiao.”Silencing of LcCWIN2 caused a reduction in the seed size without inducing seed abortion. We propose that CWIN activity in seed maternal tissues during cell division stage is likely due to LcCWIN5 expression, which regulates early seed development. On the other hand,CWIN activity during the filling stage is due to the expression of LcCWIN2,which may promote carbon import by creating a sucrose gradient.Comparable LcCWIN5 expression, but much lower CWIN activity, detected in the funicle of“Nuomici”is consistent with post-translational regulation.Jieqiong Zhang Zichen Wu Fuchu Hu Lian Liu Xuming Huang Jietang Zhao Huicong Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:4
9Elastic Wave Propagation in Lattice Metamaterials with Koch Fractal显示文摘In this study, the wave propagation properties of lattice metamaterials with Koch fractal structures are investigated in terms of band structures and directional wave propagation. The analytical models of lattice metamaterials are established using the finite element method, and the dispersion relation is solved using the Bloch’s theorem. The band structures of the lattice metamaterials with different numbers of iterations are studied, and the group velocities at a selected frequency are calculated to analyze the directional wave propagation characteristics.Furthermore, dynamic responses of the finite structures are calculated using commercial finite element software to verify the band gaps and directional wave propagation behaviors in the lattice metamaterials. The results show that multiple and low band gaps are present in the lattice materials with various geometric parameters of the Koch fractal, and the position of the lowest band gap decreases as the number of iterations increases. The results indicate the potential applications of lattice metamaterials with Koch fractals for vibration isolation and multi-functional design.Pengcheng Zhao Kai Zhang Zichen Deng 2020Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2020,33,5:4
10Regulating Mechanical Properties of Polymer-Supramolecular Double-Network Hydrogel by Supramolecular Self-assembling Structures显示文摘Main observation and conclusion Polymer-supramolecular double-network hydrogels(PS-DN hydrogels)often show much improved recovery rates than conventional double-network hydrogels because of the fast self-assembling properties, making them attractive candidates for tissue engineering and flexible electronics. However,as the supramolecular network is dynamic and susceptible to break under low strains, the overall mechanical properties of PS-DN hydrogels are still limited. Here,we report the mechanical properties for PS-DN hydrogels can be significantly improved by tuning the supramolecular network structures.A single amino acid change of the self-assembling peptide can tune the assembled structures from nanofiber to nanoribbon.Such a microscopic structural change can greatly increase the Young's modulus(107.4 kPa),fracture stress(0.48 MPa),and toughness(0.38 MJ·m^(–3))of the PS-DN hydrogels. Moreover, the structural change also leads to slightly faster recovery rates(<1 s).We propose that such dramatically different mechanical properties can be understood by the impact of individual peptide rupture events on the overall network connectivity in the two scenarios. Our study may provide new inspirations for combining high mechanical strength and fast recovery in double network hydrogels by tuning the supramolecular network structures.Tiankuo Wang Yu Zhang Zichen Gu Wei Cheng Hai Lei Meng Qin Bin Xue Wei Wang Yi Cao 2021Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,10:4
11Molecular mechanism mediating enteric bacterial translocation after severe burn:the role of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator显示文摘Background:Gut ischemia and hypoxia post severe burn leads to breakdown of intestinal epithelial barrier and enteric bacterial translocation(EBT),resulting in serious complications, such as systemic inflammatory response syndrome, sepsis and multiple organ failure.Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator(CFTR)is known to be downregulated by hypoxia and modulate junctional complexes, which are crucial structures maintaining the intestinal barrier. This study aimed to investigate whether CFTR plays a role in both regulating the intestinal barrier and mediating EBT post severe burn,as well as the signaling pathways involved in these processes. Methods:An in vitro Caco-2 cell model subjected to hypoxic injury and an in vivo mouse model with a 30%total body surface area full-thickness dermal burn were established.DF 508 mice(mice with F508del CFTR gene mutation)were used as an in vivo model to further demonstrate the role of CFTR in maintaining normal intestinal barrier function.QRT-PCR,western blot,ELISA,TER assay and immunofluorescence staining were used to detect the expression and localization of CFTR and tight junction proteins,as well as the function of tight junctions. Results:Our data indicated that,in Caco-2 cells, the hypoxia condition significantly reduced CFTR expression;activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase and nuclear factor-κB signaling;elevated secretion of inflammatory factors(tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1βand interleukin-8);downregulated zonula occludens-1,occludin and E-cadherin expression;decreased transepithelial electrical resistance values;and led to a cellular mislocation of ZO-1.More importantly, knockdown of CFTR caused similar alterations. The upregulation of inflammatory factors and downregulation of tight junction proteins(ZO-1 and occludin)induced by knockdown of CFTR could be reversed by specific extracellular signal-regulated kinase or nuclear factor-κB inhibition. In support of the in vitro data, exuberant secretion of pro-inflammatory mediators and EBT was observed in the intestine of severely burnt mice in vivo.EBT occurred in DF508 mice(mice with the F508del CFTR gene mutation),accompanied by augmented tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1βand interleukin-8 levels in the ileum compared to wildtype mice.In addition, vitamin D3 was shown to protect the intestinal epithelial barrier from hypoxic injury. Conclusions:Collectively, the present study illustrated that CFTR and downstream signaling were critical in modulating the intestinal epithelial junction and EBT post severe burn.Xinzhu Liu Yu Chen Bo You Yuan Peng Yajie Chen Zichen Yang Yixin Zhang Jing Chen 2021Burns & Trauma2021,9,1:4
12SYMPLECTIC ANALYSIS FOR WAVE PROPAGATION OF HIERARCHICAL HONEYCOMB STRUCTURES显示文摘Wave propagation in two-dimensional hierarchical honeycomb structures with twoorder hierarchy is investigated by using the symplectic algorithm. By applying the variational principle to the dual variables, the wave propagation problem is transformed into a two-dimensional symplectic eigenvalue problem. The band gaps and spatial filtering phenomena are examined to find the stop bands and directional stop bands. Special attention is directed to the effects of the relative density and the length ratio on the band gaps and phase constant surfaces. This work provides new opportunities for designing hierarchical honeycomb structures in sound insulation applications.Kai Zhang Zichen Deng Xiaojian Xu Xiuhui Hou Junmiao Meng 2015Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2015,28,3:3
13Multi-resonator coupled metamaterials for broadband vibration suppression显示文摘In this study,multi-resonator coupled metamaterials(MRCMs)with local resonators are proposed to obtain the multiple and wide band gaps.Kinetic models of the MRCMs are established, and the boundary conditions of the unit cell are obtained with Bloch's theorem. The effects of structural parameters, including the mass of the resonator and the spring stiffness,on the distributions of the band gaps are studied.Furthermore, the frequency domain responses and the time domain responses are calculated for analyzing the structural vibration characteristics and the effects of damping on structural vibration. The results show that the frequency domain response can accurately express the distributions of the band gaps of the MRCMs,and we can increase the number and the width of the band gaps by using the MRCMs for the superior vibration suppression capability.Pengcheng ZHAO Kai ZHANG Cheng ZHAO Zichen DENG 2021Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2021,42,1:3
14Identification of Kinematic Errors of Five-axis Machine Tool Trunnion Axis from Finished Test Piece显示文摘Compared with the traditional non-cutting measurement, machining tests can more accurately reflect the kinematic errors of five-axis machine tools in the actual machining process for the users. However, measurement and calculation of the machining tests in the literature are quite difficult and time-consuming.A new method of the machining tests for the trunnion axis of five-axis machine tool is proposed.Firstly,a simple mathematical model of the cradle-type five-axis machine tool was established by optimizing the coordinate system settings based on robot kinematics. Then, the machining tests based on error-sensitive directions were proposed to identify the kinematic errors of the trunnion axis of cradle-type five-axis machine tool.By adopting the error-sensitive vectors in the matrix calculation, the functional relationship equations between the machining errors of the test piece in the error-sensitive directions and the kinematic errors of C-axis and A-axis of five-axis machine tool rotary table was established based on the model of the kinematic errors.According to our previous work, the kinematic errors of C-axis can be treated as the known quantities, and the kinematic errors of A-axis can be obtained from the equations. This method was tested in Mikron UCP600 vertical machining center. The machining errors in the error-sensitive directions can be obtained by CMM inspection from the finished test piece to identify the kinematic errors of five-axis machine tool trunnion axis.Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method can reduce the complexity, cost, and the time consumed substantially, and has a wider applicability. This paper proposes a new method of the machining tests for the trunnion axis of five-axis machine tool.ZHANG Ya FU Jianzhong CHEN Zichen 2014Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2014,27,5:3
15High-Performance Photo-Modulated Thin-Film Transistor Based on Quantum dots/Reduced Graphene Oxide Fragment-Decorated ZnO Nanowires显示文摘In this paper, a photo-modulated transistor based on the thin-film transistor structure was fabricated on the flexible substrate by spin-coating and magnetron sputtering. A novel hybrid material that composed of Cd Se quantum dots and reduced graphene oxide(RGO) fragment-decorated ZnO nanowires was synthesized to overcome the narrow optical sensitive waveband and enhance the photo-responsivity. Due to the enrichment of the interface and heterostructure by RGO fragments being utilized, the photo-responsivity of the transistor was improved to 2000 AW^(-1) and the photo-sensitive wavelength was extended from ultraviolet to visible. In addition, a positive back-gate voltage was employed to reduce the Schottky barrier width of RGO fragments and ZnO nanowires. As a result, the amount of carriers was increased by 10 folds via the modulation of back-gate voltage. With these inherent properties, such as integrated circuit capability and wide optical sensitive waveband, the transistor will manifest great potential in the future applications in photodetectors.Zhi Tao Yi-an Huang Xiang Liu Jing Chen Wei Lei Xiaofeng Wang Lingfeng Pan Jiangyong Pan Qianqian Huang Zichen Zhang 2016Nano-Micro Letters2016,8,3:2
16Effect of sodium alginate on phosphorus recovery by vivianite precipitation显示文摘There are good prospects for phosphorus recovery from excess sludge by vivianite crystallization while a large number of extracellular polymeric substances in sludge will have impact on vivianite precipitation. In this study,as a representative of extracellular polymeric substance, the effect of sodium alginate(SA)on phosphorus recovery by vivianite precipitation under different initial SA concentrations(0–800 mg/L),p H values(6.5–9.0)and Fe/P molar ratios(1:1–2.4:1)was investigated using synthetic wastewater. The results showed that SA in low concentrations(≤400 mg/L)had little inhibitory effect on the phosphorus recovery rate. However, when the concentration of SA was larger than 400 mg/L,the phosphorus recovery rate decreased significantly with increasing SA concentrations. The inhibition rate of 800 mg/L SA was about 3 times as large as that of 400 mg/L SA.It was worth noting that the inhibitory effect of SA on vivianite precipitation decreased with increasing initial p H and Fe/P molar ratios.Additionally,SA has no obvious influence on the composition of products, but the morphology of harvested crystals was transformed from branches to plates or rods in uneven sizes.Cong Zhang Dexiu Hu Ruijie Yang Zichen Liu 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,7:2
17Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters显示文摘The placement of pressure taps on the surface of the wind tunnel test model is an important means toobtain the surface pressure distribution. However, limited by space location and experimental cost,it isdifficult to arrange enough pressure measuring taps on the surface of complex models to obtain completepressure distribution information, thus it is impossible to obtain accurate lift and moment characteristicsthrough integration. The paper proposes a refined reconstruction method of airfoil surface pressure basedon compressed sensing, which can reconstruct the pressure distribution with high precision with lesspressure measurement data.Tests on typical airfoil subsonic flow around flow show that the accuracyof lift and moment after the pressure integration reconstructed by 4-8 measuring points can meet therequirements of the national military standard. The algorithm is robust to noise, and provides a new ideafor obtaining accurate force data from sparse surface pressure tests in engineering.Xuan Zhao Lin Du Xuhao Peng Zichen Deng Weiwei Zhang 2021Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2021,11,2:2
1812-Tungstophosphoric acid niched in Zr-based metal-organic framework:a stable and efficient catalyst for Friedel-Crafts acylation显示文摘Heteropoly acids(HPA) are well known for their versatile solid acid catalysis in diverse chemical reactions, however they suffer from low surface area(<10 m^2/g) and leaching into the reactions media, which reduce their prospects as industrial catalyst.Herein, a novel hybrid material HPW@Zr-BTC,composed of 12-tungstophoric acid(HPW) and Zr^(Ⅳ)-benzene tri-carboxylate(Zr-BTC) metal-organic framework(MOF), was prepared via one-pot solvothermal method. Excellent HPW loading up to 32.3 wt% was achieved, and HPW@Zr-BTC composite proved to be highly stable, besides the crystalline morphology of Zr-BTC was intact. The catalytic activity of the hybrid composite was explored via Friedel-Crafts acylation of anisole with benzoyl chloride. The 28.2 wt% HPW@Zr-BTC showed excellent catalytic performance, with 99.4% anisole conversion and 97.6% yield(pmethoxybenzophenone) under solvent free conditions. Excellent retention of catalytic activity was achieved after at least five consecutive runs due to non-observable HPW leaching. The promising activity and stability of the catalyst forecasted its potential industrial applications.Latif Ullah Guoying Zhao Zichen Xu Hongyan He Muhammad Usman Suojiang Zhang 2018Science China Chemistry2018,61,4:2
19Bioresponsive nanotherapy for preventing dental caries by inhibiting multispecies cariogenic biofilms显示文摘Early childhood caries(ECC)is a public healthcare concern that greatly reduces the quality of life of young children. As a leading factor of ECC,cariogenic biofilms are composed of acidogenic/aciduric pathogens and extracellular polysaccharides(EPSs),creating an acidic and protected microenvironment.Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy(aPDT)is a noninvasive, painless, and efficient therapeutic approach that is suitable for treating ECC.However, due to the hyperfine structure of cariogenic biofilms, most photosensitizers(PSs)could not access and penetrate deeply in biofilms, which dramatically hamper their efficiency in the clinic.Herein, bioresponsive nanoparticle loaded with chlorin e6(MPP-Ce6)is developed, which largely increases the penetration depth(by over 75%)and retention(by over 100%)of PS in the biofilm compared with free Ce6.Furthermore,MPP-Ce6-mediated aPDT not only kills the bacteria in preformed biofilms but also inhibits multispecies biofilm formation.A rampant caries model is established to mimic ECC in vivo, where the population of cariogenic bacteria is decreased to 10%after MPP-Ce6-mediated aPDT.Importantly, the number and severity of carious lesions are efficiently reduced via Keyes’scoring and micro-CT analysis. This simple but effective strategy can serve as a promising approach for daily oral hygiene in preventing ECC.Danfeng Liu Xianbin Ma Yaoting Ji Rourong Chen Shuhui Zhou Hantao Yao Zichen Zhang Mengjie Ye Zhigang Xu Minquan Du 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,8:2
