1A preliminary investigation on the occurrence and distribution of antibiotic resistance genes in the Beijiang River, South China显示文摘The occurrence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) was investigated and quantified in 20 water samples collected in the Beijiang River, South China. Sulfonamide- and tetracycline-resistant bacteria were present in 17 and 14 of the collected 20 samples. For sulfonamide ARGs, sulI and sulII were frequently observed in the Beijiang River. The levels of sulI were higher than sulII (p < 0.05), with the mean values of (1.41 ± 1.12) × 10-2 and (1.58 ± 1.71) × 10-3 copies/16S rDNA, respectively. For tetracycline ARGs, tetG had the highest frequency, 100%, followed by tetA (85%), tetO (85%), tetC (70%), tetX (60%), tetM (40%) and tetQ (20%), while tetE and tetS were not detected in all the samples from the Beijiang River. On the other hand, tetC had the highest concentration, ranging from 8.30 × 10-2 to 13.20 copies/16S rDNA. The poor correlation between ARGs and antibiotic concentrations revealed that the self-amplification and persistence of ARGs were the reasons that made ARGs exist in the water environment even though the antibiotic selecting pressure was absent. 3A high-performance biochar produced from bamboo pyrolysis with in-situ nitrogen doping and activation for adsorption of phenol and methylene blue显示文摘Nitrogen doping is a promising method for the preparation of functional carbon materials.In this study,a nitrogen-doped porous coral biochar was prepared by using bamboo as raw material,urea as nitrogen source,and KHCO3 as green activator through in-situ pyrolysis.The structure of the obtained biochar was characterized by various techniques including nitrogen adsorption and desorption,Raman spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectrometer,and etc.The adsorption properties of nitrogen-doped biochar were evaluated with phenol and methylene blue probes.The results showed that the nitrogen source ratio had a significant effect on the evolution of pore structure of biochar.Low urea addition ratio was beneficial to the development of pore structures.The optimum specific surface area of nitrogen-doped biochar could be up to 1693 m^2·g^-1.Nitrogen doping can effectively improve the adsorption capacity of biochar to phenol and methylene blue.Biochar prepared at 973.15 K with low urea addition ratio exhibited the highest adsorption capacity for phenol and methylene blue,and the equilibrium adsorption capacity was 169.0 mg·g^-1 and 499.3 mg·g^-1,respectively.By comparing the adsorption capacity of various adsorbents in related fields,it is proved that the nitrogen-doped biochar prepared in this study has a good adsorption effect.Zhenhao Li Bo Xing Yan Ding Yunchao Li Shurong Wang 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,11:9
4Vertical Migration of Fine-Grained Sediments from Interior to Surface of Seabed Driven by Seepage Flows–‘Sub-Bottom Sediment Pump Action'显示文摘A scientific hypothesis is proposed and preliminarily verified in this paper: under the driving of seepage flows, there might be a vertical migration of fine-grained soil particles from interior to surface of seabed, which is defined as ‘sub-bottom sediment pump action' in this paper. Field experiments were performed twice on the intertidal flat of the Yellow River delta to study this process via both trapping the pumped materials and recording the pore pressures in the substrate. Experimental results are quite interesting as we did observe yellow slurry which is mainly composed of fine-grained soil particles appearing on the seabed surface; seepage gradients were also detected in the intertidal flat, under the action of tides and small wind waves. Preliminary conclusions are that ‘sediment pump' occurs when seepage force exceeds a certain threshold: firstly, it is big enough to disconnect the soil particles from the soil skeleton; secondly, the degree of seabed fluidization or bioturbation is big enough to provide preferred paths for the detached materials to migrate upwards. Then they would be firstly pumped from interior to the surface of seabed and then easily re-suspended into overlying water column. Influential factors of ‘sediment pump' are determined as hydrodynamics(wave energy), degree of consolidation, index of bioturbation(permeability) and content of fine-grained materials(sedimentary age). 6Eurasian Snow Conditions and Summer Monsoon Rainfall over South and Southeast Asia: Assessment and Comparison显示文摘This study reveals the complex nature of the connection between Eurasian snow and the followingsummer season’s monsoon rainfall by using four different indicators of snow conditions and correlatingeach of them to summer monsoon rainfall. Using 46 years of historical records of mean winter snow depth,maximum snow depth, and snow starting dates, and 27 years of snow area coverage from remote sensingobservations over Eurasia, the authors found diverse correlation patterns between snow conditions andthe following warm season’s rainfall over South and Southeast Asia. Some of the results contradict thewell-known inverse relationships between snow and the summer monsoon. 7Wave flume experiments on the contribution of seabed fluidization to sediment resuspension显示文摘Sediment resuspension is commonly assumed to be eroded from the seabed surface by an excess bottom shear stress and evolves in layers from the top down. Although considerable investigations have argued the importance of wave-induced seabed fluidization in affecting the sediment resuspension, few studies have been able to reliably evaluate its quantitative contribution till now. Attempt is made to preliminarily quantify the contribution of fluidization to resuspension using a series of large-scale wave flume experiments. The experimental results indicated that fluidization of the sandy silts of the Huanghe Delta account for 52.5% and 66.8% of the total resuspension under model scales of 4/20 and 6/20(i.e., relative water depth: the ratio of wave height to water depth), respectively. Some previously reported results obtained using the same flume and sediments are also summarized for a contrastive analysis, through which not only the positive correlation is confirmed, but also a parametric equation for depicting the relationship between the contribution of fluidization and the model scale is established. 8Source Contributions to PM2.5 under Unfavorable Weather Conditions in Guangzhou City,China显示文摘Historical haze episodes(2013–16) in Guangzhou were examined and classified according to synoptic weather systems.Four types of weather systems were found to be unfavorable, among which 'foreside of a cold front'(FC) and 'sea high pressure'(SP) were the most frequent(> 75% of the total). Targeted case studies were conducted based on an FC-affected event and an SP-affected event with the aim of understanding the characteristics of the contributions of source regions to fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)) in Guangzhou. Four kinds of contributions—namely, emissions outside Guangdong Province(super-region), emissions from the Pearl River Delta region(PRD region), emissions from Guangzhou–Foshan–Shenzhen(GFS region), and emissions from Guangzhou(local)—were investigated using the Weather Research and Forecasting–Community Multiscale Air Quality model. The results showed that the source region contribution differed with different weather systems. SP was a stagnant weather condition, and the source region contribution ratio showed that the local region was a major contributor(37%), while the PRD region, GFS region and the super-region only contributed 8%, 2.8% and 7%, respectively, to PM_(2.5) concentrations. By contrast, FC favored regional transport. The super-region became noticeable,contributing 34.8%, while the local region decreased to 12%. A simple method was proposed to quantify the relative impact of meteorology and emissions. Meteorology had a 35% impact, compared with an impact of-18% for emissions, when comparing the FC-affected event with that of the SP. 9Study on Catalytic Alkylation of Benzene with Methanol over ZSM-22 and ZSM-35显示文摘The ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 zeolites were synthesized via the hydrothermal crystallization method. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, N_2 adsorption-desorption, NH_3-TPD, TPO, TG, and Raman spectrometry, and the results showed that ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 possessed similar microporous volume and acidity. In the alkylation of benzene with methanol, ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 showed different coke location, coking rate and graphitizing degree. Compared with the industrial ZSM-5, ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 both showed higher selectivity of toluene and xylene(93.63% and 96.50%,respectively) during the alkylation of benzene with methanol, and the selectivity of para-xylene in xylene isomers was51.96% and 41.45%, respectively. 10Experiment and simulation of foaming injection molding of polypropylene/nano-calcium carbonate composites by supercritical carbon dioxide显示文摘Microcellular injection molding of neat isotactic polypropylene(iPP) and isotactic polypropylene/nano-calcium carbonate composites(i PP/nano-CaCO_3) was performed using supercritical carbon dioxide as the physical blowing agent. The influences of filler content and operating conditions on microstructure morphology of i PP and i PP/nano-CaCO_3 microcellular samples were studied systematically. The results showed the bubble size of the microcellular samples could be effectively decreased while the cell density increased for i PP/nano-CaCO_3 composites, especially at high CO_2 concentration and back pressure, low mold temperature and injection speed, and high filler content. Then Moldex 3D was applied to simulate the microcellular injection molding process, with the application of the measured ScCO_2 solubility and diffusion data for i PP and i PP/nano-Ca CO_3 composites respectively. For neat i PP, the simulated bubble size and density distribution in the center section of tensile bars showed a good agreement with the experimental values. However, for i PP/nano-CaCO_3 composites, the correction factor for nucleation activation energy F and the pre-exponential factor of nucleation rate f_0 were obtained by nonlinear regression on the experimental bubble size and density distribution. 11An ultra-robust fingerprinting method for quality assessment of traditional Chinese medicine using multiple reaction monitoring mass spectrometry显示文摘Chromatographic fingerprinting has been perceived as an essential tool for assessing quality and chemical equivalence of traditional Chinese medicine.However,this pattern-oriented approach still has some weak points in terms of chemical coverage and robustness.In this work,we proposed a multiple reaction monitoring(MRM)-based fingerprinting method in which approximately 100 constituents were simultaneously detected for quality assessment.The derivative MRM approach was employed to rapidly design MRM transitions independent of chemical standards,based on which the large-scale fingerprinting method was efficiently established.This approach was exemplified on QiShenYiQi Pill(QSYQ),a traditional Chinese medicine-derived drug product,and its robustness was systematically evaluated by four indices:clustering analysis by principal component analysis,similarity analysis by the congruence coefficient,the number of separated peaks,and the peak area proportion of separated peaks.Compared with conventional ultraviolet-based fingerprints,the MRM fingerprints provided not only better discriminatory capacity for the tested normal/abnormal QSYQ samples,but also higher robustness under different chromatographic conditions(i.e.,flow rate,apparent pH,column temperature,and column).The result also showed for such large-scale fingerprints including a large number of peaks,the angle cosine measure after min-max normalization was more suitable for setting a decision criterion than the unnormalized algorithm.This proof-of-concept application gives evidence that combining MRM technique with proper similarity analysis metrices can provide a highly sensitive,robust and comprehensive analytical approach for quality assessment of traditional Chinese medicine.Zhenhao Li Xiaohui Zhang Jie Liao Xiaohui Fan Yiyu Cheng 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,1:4

13Aerodynamic performance enhancement of co-flow jet airfoil with simple high-lift device显示文摘The present study performed a numerical investigation to explore the performance enhancement of a co-flow jet(CFJ)airfoil with simple high-lift device configuration,with a specific goal to examine the feasibility and capability of the proposed configuration for low-speed take-off and landing.Computations have been accomplished by an in-house-programmed Reynoldsaveraged Navier-Stokes solver enclosed by k-ωshear stress transport turbulence model.Three crucial geometric parameters,viz.,injection slot location,suction slot location and its angle were selected for the sake of revealing their effects on aerodynamic lift,drag,power consumption and equivalent lift-to-drag ratio.Results show that using simple high-lift devices on CFJ airfoil can significantly augment the aerodynamic associated lift and efficiency which evidences the feasibility of CFJ for short take-off and landing with small angle of attack.The injection and suction slot locations are more influential with respect to the aerodynamic performance of CFJ airfoil compared with the suction slot angle.The injection location is preferable to be located in the downstream of the pressure suction peak on leading edge to reduce the power expenditure of the pumping system for a relative higher equivalent lift-to-drag ratio.Another concluded criterion is that the suction slot should be oriented on the trailing edge flap for achieving more aerodynamic gain,meanwhile,carefully selecting this location is crucial in determining the aerodynamic enhancement of CFJ airfoil with deflected flaps.Haolin ZHI Zhenhao ZHU Yujin LU Shuanghou DENG Tianhang XIAO 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,9:3
14A grouting simulation method for quick-setting slurry in karst conduit:The sequential flow and solidification method显示文摘It is difficult to temporally and spatially track and characterize the slurry viscosity in flowing water during grouting simulation.In this study,a sequential flow and solidification(SFS)method considering the spatial-temporal evolution of slurry viscosity in flowing water in karst conduit is proposed.First,a time-dependent model for the threshold function of slurry viscosity is established.During the grouting process,the spatial-temporal evolution of slurry viscosity is revealed by tracking the diffusion behavior of the slurry injected at different times.This method is capable of describing the gradual solidification process of the slurry during grouting.Furthermore,a physical model of grouting in a karst conduit is developed.Second,the effectiveness of the SFS method in grouting simulation is verified by the experiment of grouting conduit in flowing water.The SFS method enables real-time monitoring of fluid velocity and pressure during grouting in flowing water and provides a feasible calculation method for revealing the grouting plugging mechanism in complex karst conduits at different engineering scales.In addition,it can be used to guide the design of grouting tests in flowing water,improve cost efficiency,and provide theoretical basis for optimizing grouting design and slurry selection.Zhenhao Xu Dongdong Pan Shucai Li Yichi Zhang Zehua Bu Jie Liu 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,2:3
15A highly selective fluorescent probe for real-time imaging of UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A8 in living cells and tissues显示文摘Uridine diphosphate(UDP)-glucuronosyltransferases(UGTs)are enzymes involved in the biotransformation of important endogenous compounds such as steroids,bile acids,and hormones as well as exogenous substances including drugs,environmental toxicants,and carcinogens.Here,a novel fluorescent probe BDMP was developed based on boron-dipyrromethene(BODIPY)with high sensitivity for the detection of UGT1A8.The glucuronidation of BDMP not only exhibited a redemission wavelength(lex/lem=500/580 nm),but also displayed an excellent UGT1A8-dependent fluorescence signal with a good linear relationship with UGT1A8 concentration.Based on this perfect biocompatibility and cell permeability,BDMP was successfully used to image endogenous UGT1A8 in human cancer cell lines(LoVo and HCT15)in real time.In addition,BDMP could also be used to visualize UGT1A8 in tumor tissues.These results suggested that BDMP is a promising molecular tool for the investigation of UGT1A8-mediated physiological function in humans.Mingyue Zhu Zhenhao Tian Lingling Jin Xiaokui Huo Chao Wang Jingnan Cui Yan Tian Xiangge Tian Lei Feng 2022Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2022,16,1:3
16High-efficiency acetaldehyde removal during solid-state polycondensation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) assisted by supercritical carbon dioxide显示文摘The concentration of acetaldehyde(AA) is the main quality index of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) used in food and drink packaging.A new method for AA removal has been developed by using supercritical carbon dioxide(sc CO2) during the solid-state polycondensation of PET.The influence factors of AA removal including the temperature,pressure,reaction time and the size of pre-polymer particles are systematically studied in this work.The results indicate that it is a highly efficient way to obtain high molecular weight PET with relative low concentration of AA.Correspondingly,the polymerization degree of PET could increase from 27.9 to 85.6 while the concentration of AA reduces from 0.229 × 10^(-6) to 0.055 × 10^(-6) under the optimal operation conditions of 230 °C,8 MPa and size of 0.30–0.45 mm.Thermodynamic performance tests show the increasing extent of PET crystallinity due to the fact that the plasticization of sc CO_2 is not obvious with extended reaction time,therefore the increasing crystallinity has no significant influence on AA removal.SEM observations reveal that the effects of sc CO_(2-) induced plasticization and swelling on PET increase significantly with the decrease of prepolymer size,and the surface of PET becomes more loose and porous in favor of the AA removal.Zhenhao Xi Tian Liu Wei Si Fenglei Bi Zhimei Xu Ling Zhao 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,6:2
17Effect of Acidity on Methylation of Benzene with Methanol Catalyzed by HZSM-5:A DFT Study显示文摘Different acidic HZSM-5 zeolites were constructed by doping with Al,Ga,or In.The effect of acidity on the adsorption of methylbenzenes and the reaction energy barriers for the methylation of benzene with methanol catalyzed by HZSM-5 zeolite were investigated by using the density functional theory.The results show that acidity exhibits less effect in the adsorption of methylbenzenes,while linear relationships are observed between the acidity and reaction energy barriers.As the acidity increases,the reaction energy barrier decreases linearly,and the stepwise pathway becomes dominant in strong acidity environment,while weak acidity is conducive to the concerted pathway.The calculation results could contribute to understanding the relationship between the acidity and the zeolite-catalyzed alkylation reaction of methylbenzenes.Wei Pifeng Fu Guangbin Mu Shanliang Gao Jichao Wen Zhenhao Zhu Xuedong 2021China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2021,23,2:2
18Preparation and surface modification of PVDF-carbon felt composite bipolar plates for vanadium flow battery显示文摘The performance of vanadium flow batteries(VFBs) is closely related to the materials used in the bipolar plates. Carbon-based composite bipolar plates are particularly suitable for VFB applications. However,most original preparation methods cannot simultaneously achieve good electrical conductivity and mechanical performance. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to fabricating bipolar plates with carbon plastic materials, including four steps, namely coating a poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) solution onto carbon felt, solvent evaporation, hot-pressing, and surface modification. The resulting bipolar plates showed high conductivity, good mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance. Surface modification by coating with carbon nanotubes(CNTs) removed the PVDF-rich layer from the surface of the carbon fibers.The high surface area of the CNT withdrew PVDF resin from the carbon fiber surface, and promoted the formation of a conductive network. 20Sensing carboxylesterase 1 in living systems by a practical and isoformspecific fluorescent probe显示文摘Carboxylesterase 1(CES1), one of the most abundant serine hydrolases in mammals, has drawn much attentions in recent years, owing to this enzyme involves in many physiological processes via hydrolysis of both endogenous esters and xenobiotic esters. Herein, to real-time monitor the activities of CES1 in various biological systems, a practical and iso form-specific fluorescent probe was developed on the basis of the substrate preference of CES1, as well as the structural and optical properties of BODIPY dyes. After screening of a panel of BODIPY ester derivatives, probe 1 displayed the best combination of specificity,sensitivity, enzymatic kinetics and applicability for monitoring CES1 activities in real samples. This probe was successfully used to detect CESl activities in several biological systems including tissue preparations,living cells, tissue slices and zebrafish. Furthermore, the biomedical applications of probe 1 for screening of CES1 inhibitors were also demonstrated using tissue preparations or living cells as enzyme sources.
