1Chimeric flagellin expressed by Salmonella typhimurium induces an ESAT-6-specific Th1-type immune response and CTL effects following intranasal immunization显示文摘The flagellin component FliC of Salmonella typhimurium is capable of activating the innate immune system via specific interactions with TLR5 and can also act as a carrier of foreign antigen to elicit antigen-specific immune responses.Thus,we constructed an attenuated Salmonella strain SL5928(fliC/esat)expressing chimeric flagellin that contained the ESAT-6 antigen coding sequence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis inserted into the highly variable region of the Salmonella flagellin coding gene fliCi.The chimeric flagellin functioned normally,as demonstrated using a flagella swarming assay and electron microscopy.To analyze the effects of chimeric flagellin,the cell-mediated immune response and cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL)effects specific for ESAT-6 antigen were tested after intranasal immunization of mice with flagellated Salmonella SL5928(fliC/esat).The results showed that SL5928(fliC/esat)intranasal immunization can strongly elicit an ESAT-6-specific T helper(Th)1-type immune response in mucosal lymphoid tissues,such as nasopharynx-associated lymph nodes,lung and Peyer’s patches,and a Th1/Th2 response was elicited in spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes.Furthermore,intranasal immunization of SL5928(fliC/esat)produced efficient CTL effects,as demonstrated using a 5-and 6-carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester(CFSE)assay.Thus,our study revealed that Salmonella flagellin acts as a carrier for foreign antigen and triggers strong Th1 and CTL responses during intranasal immunization.Chimeric flagellin is potentially an effective strategy for the development of novel vaccines against tuberculosis in humans and animals.Hui Zhang Liu Liu Ke Wen Jinlin Huang Shizhong Geng Junsong Shen Zhiming Pan Xinan Jiao 2011Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,6:6

3Development of Inorganic Solar Cells by Nanotechnology显示文摘Inorganic solar cells, as durable photovoltaic devices for harvesting electric energy from sun light,have received tremendous attention due to the fear of exhausting the earth's energy resources and damaging the living environment due to greenhouse gases. Some recent developments in nanotechnology have opened up new avenues for more relevant inorganic solar cells produced by new photovoltaic conversion concepts and effective solar energy harvesting nanostructures. 6Conventional sintered Cu_(2-x)Se thermoelectric material显示文摘As the featured material of the superionic thermoelectric(TE)material family,copper-chalcogenide Cu_(2-x)Se is attracting growing research interest for its excellent TE performance derived from the satisfactory power factor and the ultra-low thermal conductivity induced by the superionic effect.Various efforts have been made and proved to be effective to further enhance the TE performance for Cu_(2-x)Se.However,this material is still far from the application stage,which is mainly due to concerns regarding control of the properties and the costly complex fabrication technology.Here we report a scalable pathway to achieve high-performance and tunable Cu_(2-x)Se,utilizing conventional sintering technology and copper(Cu)-vacancy engineering with an effective mass model.The figure of merit zT is a competitive value of 1.0 at 800 K for the optimized binary Cu_(2-x)Se,based on the precise modeling prediction and Cu-vacancy engineering.The changes in TE properties of Cu_(2-x)Se under heating-cooling cycle tests are also revealed.Our work offers the referable method along with the decent parent material for further enhancement of TE performance,paving a possible route for the application and industrialization of Cu_(2-x)Se TE materials.Zhiming Geng Dongliang Shi Lu Shi Ying Li G.Jeffrey Snyder Kwok-ho Lam 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,4:1

12Dispersion and support dictated properties and activities of Pt/metal oxide catalysts in heterogeneous CO oxidation显示文摘The source of activity of metal/metal oxides has always been an interesting,important but highly challenging research topic in heterogeneous catalysis.In CO oxidation reaction,this work clarifies dispersion and support dictated activities of Pt including single-atom(Pt1),2.8 nm(PtNP-S)and 36 nm(PtNP-L)Pt supported on both reducible TiO_(2) and“inert”Al_(2)O_(3) supports.The X-ray absorption fine structure(XAFS)shows that chemical state of Pt is affected by both dispersion and support:Pt1 presents fully oxidized state in both Pt1/TiO_(2) and Pt1/Al_(2)O_(3);PtNP-S in PtNP-S/TiO_(2) appear nearly oxidized state while about half of Pt is metallic state in PtNP-S/Al_(2)O_(3);PtNP-L in both PtNP-L/TiO_(2) and PtNP-L/Al_(2)O_(3) exhibit metallic state.All the Pt species supported on TiO_(2) present much lower apparent activation barriers(Eapp)than that on Al_(2)O_(3).Moreover,Pt1/TiO_(2) possesses dozen times of efficiency than PtNP-S/TiO_(2) although they have similar Eapp values.A truth is finally made clear that a reducible metal oxide with low oxygen vacancy formation energy is critical to endow Pt/metal oxide a high activity and the single-atom dispersion of Pt is the way to maximize the active sites of Pt/metal oxide.Jiaojiao Song Yixuan Yang Shoujie Liu Lei Li Nan Yu Yuteng Fan Zhiming Chen Long Kuai Baoyou Geng 2021Nano Research2021,14,12:1

15Variations of DON Content in Grain during Wheat Tempering at Different Temperatures显示文摘[Objective] The aim of this study was to observe variations of DON content in grain of two wheat cultivars during tempering at different temperatures, and explore the possible causes of the variations. [Method] Two naturally Fusarium-infested wheat samples Youmai 3 and Yangmai 14 were selected as experimental materials. Tempering was carried out at different temperature(15, 25 and 35 ℃) for 48 h. During tempering, wheat grain samples were collected every 8 h. DON contents in tempered grain were measured by HPLC coupled with UV detector. [Result] For Youmai 3, DON contents were in the ranges of 3.94-12.49, 4.26-6.11 and 3.41-7.91 μg/g during tempering at 15, 25 and 35 ℃, respectively. The highest DON contents were observed at the 32ndhour at 15 ℃, the 8thhour at 25 ℃ and the 32ndhour at 35 ℃, respectively. After tempering for 48 h, DON contents in grain were increased by 175.1%, 27.5% and 7.2%, respectively. For Yangmai 14, DON contents were in the ranges of 0.55-1.56, 0.39-0.77 and 0.57-3.17 μg/g during tempering at 15, 25 and 35 ℃, respectively. The highest DON contents were observed at the 24thhour at 15 ℃, the 40thhour at 25 ℃ and the 48thhour at 35 ℃, respectively. After tempering for 48 h, DON contents in grain were increased by 94.5% at 15 ℃ and 456.1% at 35 ℃, respectively, whereas it was decreased by 35.0% at 25 ℃. From the point of view of reducing DON level, 15 ℃ was not reasonable for the tempering of both wheat cultivars, and tempering at 35 ℃ for 16 h and tempering at 25 ℃ for 24 h appeared to be desirable for Youmai 3 and Yangmai 14, respectively. 16Synthesis of the Core-Shell Structure Materials as the Controlled-Release Drug Carrier显示文摘We have developed a controlled-release drug carrier. Smartly controlled-release polymer nanoparticles were firstly synthesized through RAFT polymerization as the controlled-release core. The structural and particle properties of polymer nanoparticles were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-NMR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Mesoporous materials were selected as the shell materials to encapsulate the smart core as the stable shell. The mesoporous shell was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). 17Extended structural materials constructed from sulfate-centered Preyssler-type polyoxometalate with excellent electrocatalytic property显示文摘Sulfate-centered Preyssler-type polyoxometalate was used as the precursor to react with transition metal cations and organic ligand for constructing inorganic-organic hybrid materials{H[Ni_2(H_2O)_4(Htrz)_3]_2(KS_5W_(30)O_(110))}·18 H_2O(trz=1,2,4-triazole)(1), which was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX), power X-ray diffraction(PXRD), IR spectra and thermogravimetric(TG) analyses. In 1, the cylindrical vacancy of the inorganic crown-type anion {S_5W_(30)O_(110)} captures a K^+ ion resulting in the anion {KS_5 W_(30)O_(110)}^(9-),which was further connected by dimeric [Ni_2(H_2 O)_4(Htrz)_3]_2 metal-organic units into an one-dimensional(1D) chain-like structure.These 1D chains are further packed to form a three-dimensional(3D) supramolecular structure via Hbonding interactions. 18Temperature-induced anomalous structural changes of Al-12wt.%Sn-4wt.%Si melt and its influence on as-cast structure显示文摘The temperature dependence of the viscosity of liquid Al-12wt.%Sn-4wt.%Si was studied with a hightemperature viscosity apparatus.Anomalous changes of viscosity of the melt were found at 1,103 K and 968 K in the cooling process,which indicates anomalous structural changes of the melt.It is calculated that the anomalous structural change is associated with an abrupt decrease of atomic clusters'size and activation energy in the melt.According to the temperature of the anomalous structural changes,melt heat treatment process(quenching from superheat to pouring temperature) was performed on Al-12wt.%Sn-4wt.%Si melt prior to pouring,aimed to keep the small atomic clusters from higher temperature to lower pouring temperature.The results suggest that relatively small atomic clusters at the pouring temperature in the melt could generate a deep under-cooling of nucleation in the subsequent solidification process,and refine the as-cast structure.After being quenched from superheating to pouring temperature,the relatively small atomic clusters,especially the Si-Si clusters in the melt will grow to equilibrium state(relatively big atomic clusters) with holding time,resulting in the prominent coarsening of the Si morphology in the as-cast structure.Wang Zhiming Geng Haoran Zhou Guorong Guo Zhongquan Teng Xinying 2010China Foundry2010,7,2:0
