| 1 | Targets and molecular mechanisms of triptolide in cancer therapy显示文摘Triptolide(TPL/TL) is a natural drug with novel anticancer effects. Preclinical studies indicated that TPL inhibits cell proliferation, induces cell apoptosis, inhibits tumor metastasis and enhances the effect of other therapeutic methods in various cancer cell lines. Multiple molecules and signaling pathways, such as caspases, heat-shock proteins, NF-κB, and deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA) repair-associated factors, are associated with the anti-cancer effect. TPL also improves chemoradiosensitivity in cancer therapy. Phase I trials indicate the potential clinical value of TPL use. | 3 | The Discovery of Diamonds in Chromitites of the Hegenshan Ophiolite,Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘Diamond,moissanite and a variety of other minerals,similar to those reported from ophiolites in Tibet and northern Russia,have recently been discovered in chromitites of the Hegenshan ophiolite of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt,north China. The chromitites are small,podiform and vein-like bodies hosted in dunite,clinopyroxene-bearing peridotite,troctolite and gabbro. All of the analysed chromite grains are relatively Al-rich,with Cr# [100Cr/(Cr+Al)] of about 47–53. Preliminary studies of mainly disseminated chromitite from ore body No. 3756 have identified more than 30 mineral species in addition to diamond and moissanite. These include oxides(mostly hematite,magnetite,rutile,anatase,cassiterite,and quartz),sulfides(pyrite,marcasite and others),silicates(magnesian olivine,enstatite,augite,diopside,uvarovite,pyrope,orthoclase,zircon,sphene,vesuvianite,chlorite and serpentine) and others(e.g.,calcite,monazite,glauberite,iowaite and a range of metallic alloys). | 4 | Incorporating the magnetic alignment of GO composites into Pebax matrix for gas separation显示文摘The mixed matrix membranes(MMMs) were developed by incorporating graphite oxide(GO) flakes functionalized with iron oxide(Fe_3O_4) into Pebax matrix. The Pebax/Fe_3O_4–GO MMMs were used to separate CO_2/CH_4 and CO_2/N_2 gas mixture. The results showed that the MMMs with magnetic alignment presented the better gas separation performance than that of random arrangement of Pebax/Fe_3O_4–GO mixed matrix membranes. The reason was that the Fe_3O_4–GO flakes arranged magnetically in the membrane played a multiple role in improving the performance of MMMs. Firstly, under the action of the magnetic field,the magnetic alignment of Fe_3O_4–GO flakes in Pebax matrix constructed the shorter transfer path for gas molecule, increasing the CO_2 permeability. Secondly, the hydroxyl groups in GO flakes and the presence of Fe_3O_4 have stronger binding force for water, improving the CO_2 solubility selectivity. Thirdly, the better interaction between the magnetic alignment of GO composites and polymer matrix, reduced the interface defects. | 5 | Achievement of giant cryogenic refrigerant capacity in quinary rare-earths based high-entropy amorphous alloy显示文摘Magnetic refrigeration(MR)by utilizing the magnetocaloric(MC)effect is recognized as one of the most potential promising solid state environmentally friendly and high efficiency alternative method to the well-used state-of-the-art gas compression cooling technique.In this work,a systematic investigation of quinary equi-atomic rare-earths(RE)based Er_(20) Ho_(20) Gd_(20) Ni_(20) Co_(20) high-entropy(HE)amorphous alloy in terms of the microstructure,magnetic and magnetocaloric(MC)properties have been reported.The Er_(20) Ho_(20) Gd_(20) Ni_(20) Co_(20) exhibits promising glass forming ability with an undercooled liquid region of 72 K.Excellent cryogenic MC performances can be found in wide temperature from∼25 and∼75 K,close to H_(2) and N_(2) liquefaction,respectively.Apart from the largest magnetic entropy change(-S M)reaches 17.84 J/(kg K)with 0-7 T magnetic field change,corresponding refrigerant capacity(RC)attains a giant value of 1030 J/kg.The promising cryogenic MC performances together with the unique HE amorphous characterizations make the quinary Er_(20) Ho_(20) Gd_(20) Ni_(20) Co_(20) HE amorphous alloy attractive for cryogenic MR applications. | Yikun Zhang Jian Zhu Shuo Li Jiang Wang Zhongming Ren | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,7: | 4 |
| 6 | Evolution of the microstructure and solute distribution of Sn-10wt% Bi alloys during electromagnetic field-assisted directional solidification显示文摘The effects of forced flows at different velocities on microstructure and solute distribution during the directional solidification of Sn-10 wt% Bi alloys under a simultaneous imposition of a transverse static magnetic field(TSMF) and an external direct current(DC) have been investigated experimentally and numerically. The experimental results show that the solid-liquid interface will gradually become sloping with the increase of the forced flow velocity when the thermoelectric magnetic convection(TEMC)dominates the forced flow at solidification front. However, the interface will gradually become planar as the flow velocity further increases when the electromagnetic convection(EMC) dominates the forced flow. Moreover, when the flow velocity gradually increases, the primary dendrite spacing decreases from384 to 105 μm accordingly. The simulation results show that the solute distribution at the two sides of the sample can be significantly changed by the forced flow at solidification front. The rejected solute will be unidirectionally transported to one side of the sample along the TEMC(a low-velocity forced flow),thereby causing the formation of a sloping interface. However, the rejected solute will be returned back along the EMC(a higher-velocity force flow), which results in a planar interface. Furthermore, the solute content at the two sides of the sample under the forced flows at different velocities was measured. | 11 | In situ Assemblies of Bacteria and Nutrient Dynamics in Response to an Ecosystem Engineer,Marine Clam Scapharca subcrenata,in the Sediment of an Aquaculture Bioremediation System显示文摘The relationships between nutrient dynamics,microbial community,and macrofauna are important in bioremediation systems.In this study,we examined the effects of marine clam Scapharca subcrenata sedimentary activities on the microbial assemblages,benthic nutrient chemistry,and its subsequent remediation impacts on organic effluent in the sediment of an aquaculture wastewater bioremediation system.The results showed that microbial community composition differed significantly in the clam area(ANOSIM,R=0.707,P=0.037).Pyrosequencing of bacterial 16S rRNA gene revealed a total of 48 unique phyla,79 classes,107 orders,197 families,and 321 genera amongst all samples.The most dominant bacterial assemblages were Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Acidobacteria,Firmicutes,Verrucomicrobia,and Actinobacteria,with Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes significantly higher in all treatment samples than control(P<0.001).All dominant phyla in the list were shared across all samples and accounted for 89%(control)and 97%(treatment)of the total 16S rRNA.The nutrient flux rates from the sediments into the water(treatment group)were 51%(ammonium),88%(nitrate),77%(nitrite)and 45%(phosphate)higher,relative to the control implying increased mineralization,degradability,and mobility of the benthic nutrients.Similarly,significantly increased oxygen consumption rates were evident in the clam area signifying improved oxygen distribution within the sediment.The organic effluent contents associated with total-organic matter,carbon,nitrogen,and,phosphate were lower among the clam treatments relative to the control.Our results describe the potential roles and mechanisms contributed by marine bivalve S.subcrenata on benthic-bacterial-community assembly,nutrient balance,and effluent reduction in the sediments of aquaculture wastewaters bioremediation system. | NICHOLAUS Regan LUKWAMBE Betina YANG Wen ZHU Jinyong ZHENG Zhongming | 2020 | Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,6: | 2 |

| 18 | Suppression of LjBAK1-mediated immunity by SymRK promotes rhizobial infection in Lotus japonicus.显示文摘An important question in biology is how organisms can associate with different microbes that pose no threat (commensals), pose a severe threat (pathogens) and those that are beneficial (symbionts). The root nodule symbiosis serves as important model system to address such questions in the context of plant-microbe interactions. It is now generally accepted that rhizobia have the abilities to actively suppress host immune responses during the infection process, analogous to the way in which plant pathogens can evade immune recognition. However, much remains to be elucidated with regard to the mechanisms by which the host recognizes the rhizobia as pathogens and how, subsequently, these pathways are suppressed to allow establishment of the nitrogen fixing symbiosis. In this study, we found that SymRK (Symbiosis Receptor-like Kinase) is required for rhizobial suppression of plant innate immunity in Lotus japonicus. SymRK associates with LjBAK1 (BRASSINOSTEROID INSENSITIVE 1-Associated receptor Kinase 1), a well characterized, positive regulator of plant innate immunity, and directly inhibits LjBAK1 kinase activity. Rhizobial inoculation enhances the association between SymRK and LjBAK1 in planta. LjBAK1 is required to regulate plant innate immunity and plays a negative role in mediating rhizobial infection in L. japonicus. | 19 | NMR-based metabolomic responses of freshwater gastropod Bellamya aeruginosa to MC-producing and non MC-producing Microcystis aeruginosa显示文摘Molluscan metabolomic analysis is essential for the understanding of the regulatory mechanism of aquatic invertebrate in response to hepatotoxic microcystins(MCs)stress.To understand the system responses of the gastropod to MC exposure,metabolomic alterations caused by two strains(MC-producing and non MC-producing)of Microcystis aeruginosa were characterized indiff erent biological matrices(hepatopancreas and muscle)of Bellamya aeruginosa(Gastropoda)using 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy combined with MCs detections after exposure for 1,7,and 14 d.Although ELISA analysis showed that no MCs was detected in both tissues after non MC-producing M.aeruginosa exposure,MCs concentrations were increasing in the hepatopancreas(from 1.29±0.48μg/g to 3.17±0.11μg/g)and foot muscle(from 0.07±0.02μg/g to 0.21±0.08μg/g)after 14-d exposure of MC-producing M.aeruginosa.Meanwhile,we observed that MC induced signifi cant increase in creatine,a variety of amino acids(leucine,isoleucine,valine,threonine,alanine,methionine,glutamate,aspartate,and lysine),carboxylic acids(lactate,acetate,and D-3-hydroxybutyrate),and choline and its derivatives(phosphocholine and glycerophosphocholine)but decreased the energy substance(lipids,glucose,and glycogen)in the hepatopancreas.However,no signifi cant metabolite diff erences were observed in the muscle between MC-producing and non MC-producing cyanobacteria treated groups.These results suggest that MC exposure may cause hepatic energy expenditure accompanied with various metabolic disorders that involve lipid metabolism,protein catabolism,osmoregulation,glycolysis,glycogenolysis,and tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle.Moreover,metabolic perturbation was aggravated as the level of accumulated MCs raised over time in the MC-producing cyanobacteria treatment.These fi ndings indicated that MCs accumulation might lead to oxidative-stress-mediated damage of mitochondria functions. | Wen YANG Yangfang YE Kaihong LU Zhongming ZHENG Jinyong ZHU | 2022 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,1: | 0 |
| 20 | Conformally Mapped Multifunctional Acoustic Metamaterial Lens for Spectral Sound Guiding and Talbot Effect显示文摘We demonstrate a conformally mapped multifunctional acoustic metamaterial Mikaelian lens.Mikaelian lens is a gradient medium with a hyperbolic secant refractive index profile that can realize functions like beam self-focusing.Unlike the conventional design approaches,with a conformal transformation method,only isotropic material parameters with gradient refractive index profiles are required for the construction of such lens.To realize desired gradient index distribution,we carefully design a new type of crosschannel-shaped acoustic metamaterial,whose refractive index can be effectively modulated by simply changing the slit opening size.The distinct capabilities of the metamaterial Mikaelian lens in manipulating acoustic waves are experimentally verified with the fabricated sample.Simultaneous sound guiding and Talbot effects,which normally require respective geometrical and wave acoustic approximations,are observed in simulations and experiments.Furthermore,those effects of shaping acoustic wave propagations were validated within a relatively wide frequency range.Our study reveals how the conformal transformation method can help to bridge the ray acoustics with wave acoustics.It offers opportunities to the development of novel multifunctional acoustic devices for various applications,such as sound and particle manipulations. | He Gao Xinsheng Fang Zhongming Gu Tuo Liu Shanjun Liang Yong Li Jie Zhu | 2019 | Research2019,,1: | 0 |
