| 1 | Th e role of ferroptosis in ionizing radiation-induced cell death and tumor suppression显示文摘Ferroptosis,a form of regulated cell death caused by lipid peroxidation,was recently identified as a natural tumor suppression mechanism.Here,we show that ionizing radiation(IR)induces ferroptosis in cancer cells.Mechanistically,IR induces not only reactive oxygen species(ROS)but also the expression of ACSL4,a lipid metabolism enzyme required for ferroptosis,resulting in elevated lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.ACSL4 ablation largely abolishes IR-induced ferroptosis and promotes radioresistance.IR also induces the expression of ferroptosis inhibitors,including SLC7A11 and GPX4;as an adaptive response.IR-or KEAP1 deficiencyinduced SLC7A11 expression promotes radioresistance through inhibiting ferroptosis.Inactivating SLC7A11 or GPX4 with ferroptosis inducers(FINs)sensitizes radioresistant cancer cells and xenograft tumors to IR.Furthermore,radiotherapy induces ferroptosis in cancer patients,and increased ferroptosis correlates with better response and longer survival to radiotherapy in cancer patients.Our study reveals a previously unrecognized link between IR and ferroptosis and indicates that further exploration of the combination of radiotherapy and FINs in cancer treatment is warranted. | Guang Lei Yilei Zhang Pranavi Koppula Xiaoguang Liu Jie Zhang Steven HLin Jaffer AAjani Qin Xiao Zhongxing Liao Hui Wang Boyi Gan | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,2: | 88 |
| 2 | Intensity-modulated radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy for locally advanced cervical and upper thoracic esophageal cancer显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the dosimetry, efficacy and toxicity of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and concurrent chemotherapy for patients with locally advanced cervical and upper thoracic esophageal cancer. METHODS: A retrospective study was performed on 7 patients who were definitively treated with IMRT and concurrent chemotherapy. Patients who did not receive IMRT radiation and concurrent chemotherapy were not included in this analysis. IMRT plans were evaluated to assess the tumor coverage and normal tissue avoidance. Treatment response was evaluated and toxicities were assessed. RESULTS: Five- to nine-beam IMRT were used to deliver a total dose of 59.4-66 Gy (median: 64.8 Gy) to the primary tumor with 6-MV photons. The minimum dose received by the planning tumor volume (PTV) of the gross tumor volume boost was 91.2%-98.2% of the prescription dose (standard deviation [SD]: 3.7%-5.7%). The minimum dose received by the PTV of the clinical tumor volume was 93.8%-104.8% (SD: 4.3%-11.1%) of the prescribed dose. With a median follow-up of 15 mo (range: 3-21 mo), all 6 evaluable patients achieved complete response. Of them, 2 developed localrecurrences and 2 had distant metastases, 3 survived with no evidence of disease. After treatment, 2 patients developed esophageal stricture requiring frequent dilation and 1 patient developed tracheal-esophageal fi stula. CONCLUSION: Concurrent IMRT and chemotherapy resulted in an excellent early response in patients with locally advanced cervical and upper thoracic esophageal cancer. However, local and distant recurrence and toxicity remain to be a problem. | 3 | Using deep learning to detect small targets in infrared oversampling images显示文摘According to the oversampling imaging characteristics, an infrared small target detection method based on deep learning is proposed. A 7-layer deep convolutional neural network(CNN) is designed to automatically extract small target features and suppress clutters in an end-to-end manner. The input of CNN is an original oversampling image while the output is a cluttersuppressed feature map. The CNN contains only convolution and non-linear operations, and the resolution of the output feature map is the same as that of the input image. The L1-norm loss function is used, and a mass of training data is generated to train the network effectively. | 5 | The apple DNA-binding one zinc-finger protein MdDof54 promotes drought resistance显示文摘DNA-binding one zinc-finger(Dof)proteins constitute a family of transcription factors with a highly conserved Dof domain that contains a C2C2 zinc-finger motif.Although several studies have demonstrated that Dof proteins are involved in multiple plant processes,including development and stress resistance,the functions of these proteins in drought stress resistance are largely unknown.Here,we report the identification of the MdDof54 gene from apple and document its positive roles in apple drought resistance.After long-term drought stress,compared with nontransgenic plants,MdDof54 RNAi plants had significantly shorter heights and weaker root systems;the transgenic plants also had lower shoot and root hydraulic conductivity,as well as lower photosynthesis rates.By contrast,compared with nontransgenic plants,MdDof54-overexpressing plants had higher photosynthesis rates and shoot hydraulic conductivity under long-term drought stress.Moreover,compared with nontransgenic plants,MdDof54-overexpressing plants had higher survival percentages under short-term drought stress,whereas MdDof54 RNAi plants had lower survival percentages.MdDof54 RNAi plants showed significant downregulation of 99 genes and significant upregulation of 992 genes in response to drought,and 366 of these genes were responsive to drought.We used DAPseq and ChIP-seq analyses to demonstrate that MdDof54 recognizes cis-elements that contain an AAAG motif.Taken together,our results provide new information on the functions of MdDof54 in plant drought stress resistance as well as resources for apple breeding aimed at the improvement of drought resistance. | Pengxiang Chen Mingjia Yan Lei Li Jieqiang He Shuangxi Zhou Zhongxing Li Chundong Niu Chana Bao Fang Zhi Fengwang Ma Qingmei Guan | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7 |

| 7 | Determination of thermal expansion coefficients for unidirectional fiber-reinforced composites显示文摘In the present work, the coefficients of thermal expansion(CTEs) of unidirectional(UD)fiber-reinforced composites are studied. First, an attempt is made to propose a model to predict both longitudinal and transverse CTEs of UD composites by means of thermo-elastic mechanics analysis. The proposed model is supposed to be a concentric cylinder with a transversely isotropic fiber embedded in an isotropic matrix, and it is subjected to a uniform temperature change. Then a concise and explicit formula is offered for each CTE. Finally, some finite element(FE) models are created by a finite element program MSC. Patran according to different material systems and fiber volume fractions. In addition, the available experimental data and results of other analytical solutions of CTEs are presented. Comparisons are made among the results of the cylinder model,the finite element method(FEM), experiments, and other solutions, which show that the predicted CTEs by the new model are in good agreement with the experimental data. | 8 | 应用最大似然率及随机效应模型探讨非小细胞肺癌放化疗中急性放射性食管炎与照射剂量和疗程的关系显示文摘背景与目的:局部晚期非小细胞肺癌的治疗疗效差,增加治疗强度如同期放化疗是提高疗效的方法,但毒性反应较大。本研究探讨非小细胞肺癌同期放化疗的治疗方式中,应用最大似然率及随机效应模型探讨非小细胞肺癌放化疗中急性放射性食管炎的发生率与照射剂量和疗程时间因素的关系。方法:本研究中的39例病例资料来自于1998年3月-2000年11月间在M.D.Anderson癌症治疗中心进入随机临床Ⅲ期的同期放化疗治疗研究不能手术的Ⅱ期和Ⅲ期非小细胞肺癌患者。所有的患者在放疗前均接受顺铂和口服依托泊苷(VP-16)的化疗。放疗方案为每次1.2Gy,bid,前后野对照治疗至肿瘤剂量达40~50Gy后,采用避开脊髓的斜野放疗至总剂量69.6Gy。病例分布为amifostine治疗组,19例;非amifostine治疗组,20例。还原三维治疗计划设计并计算了剂量-体积直方图(DVHs)。治疗开始后每周对急性放射性食管炎程度评估1次,在放疗结束后1个月再随访评估1次。评分的标准是根据美国放射治疗研究组(RTOG)的急性反应的标准。采用了多因素的随机效应模型及最大似然率的分析以研究在这39例病例中急性放射性食管炎的严重程度与照射剂量和疗程时间因素的关系,并考虑了不同病例个体间的敏感性差异。结果:在amifostine治疗组有11%(2/19),非amifostine治疗组有30%(6/20)的患者发生Ⅲ度的急性食管炎。在这两组中,急性食管炎的发生率在开始治疗后第4周(累计剂量为48Gy)达高峰并呈一稳定状态。随治疗后期剂量的进一步增加,急性食管炎发生的危险性并不明显增加。原因可能是食管粘膜上皮组织的修复和在治疗后的上皮细胞加速再增殖。疗程中的周剂量或累计周剂量要比整个疗程的总剂量更好地预测急性食管炎的发生。结论:肿瘤累积剂量和患者的内在敏感性与Ⅲ度急性放射性食管炎的发生率有关。欲将发生急性食管炎的危险性降低至10%以下,需限制第4周的累计剂量在36Gy以下,或9Gy/周。这可能为开展IMRT等新技术的治疗提供有用的参考信息。 | 章真 Helen Liu Zhongxing Liao Ritsuko Komaki James D Cox | 2006 | 中国癌症杂志2006,16,12: | 5 |
| 9 | High-speed visual target tracking with mixed rotation invariant description and skipping searching显示文摘This paper proposes a novel high-speed visual target tracking system based on mixed rotation invariant description(MRID) and skipping searching method. MRID is a novel rotation invariant description of texture and edge information by annular histograms and dominant direction. It overcomes rotation variant and large computation issues in conventional LBP-HOG feature description. The skipping searching method used in tracking can remarkably decrease the computation time by avoiding repeated searching operations.The proposed tracking system contains an image sensor, a hierarchical vision processor and an actuator with2 dimensions of freedom(DOF). The vision processor integrates processors with pixel-and row-level parallelism to speed up the tracking algorithm. | 10 | 非小细胞肺癌术后三维适形放疗与常规放疗的疗效比较显示文摘背景与目的:非小细胞肺癌术后三维适形放疗与常规放疗的疗效比较目前尚缺乏长期随访结果.本研究回顾性分析非小细胞肺癌(NSCLC)术后分别采用三维适形放疗和常规放疗的疗效及放疗反应,比较不同放疗技术对疗效及放疗反应的影响。方法:收集1990年12月-2002年8月美国M.D.安德森癌症研究中心收治的167例Ⅲ.期NSCLC患者的术后放疗资料进行回顾性分析。其中常规放疗组(CV组)90例.三维适形放疗组(CF组)77例。CV组放疗中位剂量为54.3Gy/27次.CF组放疗中位刹龟为53.9Gy/26次.均在5~6周内完成。结果:两组患者病例特征具有可比性。CV组和CF组中位随访时间分别为36个月和24个月,两组无瘤生存率、局部控制率及无远处转移生存率差异无显著性,但两组总生存率差异有显著性(P=0.014)。CF组在肺部纤维化、心脏损伤和血液系统放疔反应发生率显著性上要低于CV组,其余放疗反应差异基本尤最著性。两组死亡原因差异有显著性,CV组有8例患者死于与心脏损伤有关的并发症,而CF组没有。结论:Ⅲ、期NSCLC术后采用改进的三维适形放疗技术不仅可以取得与常规放疗类似的疗效,还可提高总生存率,同时降低了肺部纤维化、心脏损伤和血液系统反应发生率,三维适形放疗的治疗优势值得关注. | 林原 Zhongxing Liao Pamela K.Allen James D.Cox Ritsuko Komaki | 2007 | 中国癌症杂志2007,17,4: | 4 |

| 12 | Effect of Initial Microstructure on Warm Deformation Behavior of 45 Steel显示文摘In order to investigate the effect of initial microstructure on warm deformation behavior, some specimens of 45 steel were annealed and some quenched. Then the specimens were isothermally compressed on a Gleeble 3500 machine. The deformation temperature range was 550 to 700 ℃ and the strain rate range was 0.001 to 0.1 s-1. An optical microscope (OM) and a transmission electron microscope (TEM) were used to study the microstructures. The results show that the microstructure of annealed specimens is ferrite and pearlite and that of quenched specimens is martensite. The flow stress of quenched specimens is higher than that of annealed ones at 550 ℃ when strain rates are greater than 0.001 s-1. However, at 600 to 700 ℃ and strain rate of 0.001 s-1, the whole flow curves of quenched specimens are below that of annealed ones. Under the rest conditions, the flow stress of quenched specimens is higher at the beginning of compression and then the opposite is true after the strain is greater than a critical value. An improved genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve this nonlinear optimal problem. The numerical simulation of a large-scale investment combination for Shanghai stock market shows that GA has the advantage of faster convergence and wider adaptability than traditional optimization algorithm. | 19 | Lithospheric structures across the Qiman Tagh and western Qaidam Basin revealed by magnetotelluric data collected using a self-developed SEP system显示文摘Geophysics offers an important means to investigate the physical processes occurring inside the earth.In particular,since the 1960s,electromagnetic(EM)methods have played important roles in mineral exploration and engineering investigation.Such investigation requires extensive data acquisition and experimental analysis based on geophysical techniques.However,high-performance geophysical equipment,particularly EM exploration equipment,has been dominated by large geophysical companies from the United States,Canada,Germany,and other European countries for decades.This has limited the development of deep exploration technology in China.Recently,we have developed a high-resolution acquisition system with a wireless control unit and a high-power transmitting system for surface EM prospecting(SEP).The new system has been tested in the high-intensity,noisy environment in Jian-sanjiang area,Heilongjiang Province.We then conducted a field survey on the western edge of Qaidam Basin,Qinghai Province.A highly conductive anomaly was found in the upper mantle below the Qinmantage Mountains,which indicates a possible northward fluid channel that runs from below the Qinmantage Mountains to the bottom of the western crust of the Qaidam Basin.Identification of this significant feature was made possible by the new SEP for its better resolution than the previous systems.Also,geophysical analysis confirmed that the thick Cenozoic sediments of the Qaidam Basin are underlain by rigid Precambrian basement rocks and are characterized by a series of folds.The resistivity profile indicates that the Qaidam Basin was formed due to the folding structures in the northern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau which provided an additional evidence for the uplifting of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. | Qingyun DI Guoqiang XUE Zhongxing WANG Lanfang HE Renzhong PEI Tianxin ZHANG Guangyou FANG | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,10: | 2 |
| 20 | Linking key intervention timings to rapid declining effective reproduction number to quantify lessons against COVID-19显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is currently under a global pandemic trend.The efficiency of containment measures and epidemic tendency of typical countries should be assessed.In this study,the efficiency of prevention and control measures in China,Italy,Iran,South Korea,and Japan was assessed,and the COVID-19 epidemic tendency among these countries was compared.Results showed that the effective reproduction number(Re)in Wuhan,China increased almost exponentially,reaching a maximum of 3.98 before a lockdown and rapidly decreased to below 1 due to containment and mitigation strategies of the Chinese government.The Re in Italy declined at a slower pace than that in China after the implementation of prevention and control measures.The Re in Iran showed a certain decline after the establishment of a national epidemic control command,and an evident stationary phase occurred because the best window period for the prevention and control of the epidemic was missed.The epidemic in Japan and South Korea reoccurred several times with the Re fluctuating greatly.The epidemic has hardly rebounded in China due to the implementation of prevention and control strategies and the effective enforcement of policies.Other countries suffering from the epidemic could learn from the Chinese experience in containing COVID-19. | Zhihang Peng Wenyu Song Zhongxing Ding Quanquan Guan Xu Yang Qiaoqiao Xu Xu Wang Yankai Xia | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,5: | 2 |
