| 1 | Palaeoecological and palaeoenvironmental significance of someimportant spores and micro-algae in Quaternary deposits显示文摘Spores of ferns and allied plants, and micro-algae frequently occur in abundance in Quaternary deposits, but their palaeoenvironmental significance is seldom evaluated. This paper presents morphological descriptions of spores of Selaginella sinensis (Desv.) Spring, 1843 (Selaginellaceae) and Ceratopteris cf. thalictroides (L.) Brongniart, 1821 (Parkeriaceae) and the algae Pediastrum boryanum (Turpin) Meneghini, 1840, P. simplex Meyen, 1829, P. integrum N geli, 1849 (all Hydrodictyaceae), Spiniferites Mantell, 1850, emend. Sarjeant, 1970 (Spiniferitaceae) and Concentricystes Rossignal, 1962, emend. Jiabo, 1978 (systematic position unclear), and discusses their occurrence in mostly Quaternary sedimentary successions. All are closely associated with aquatic habitats. Extant Selaginella sinensis often colonizes fairly wet hillsides and gaps between rocks, and shady sides of ravines and slopes; it is also found within thickets of trees and shrubs (boscages) and in forests with calcareous soils. Ceratopteris thalictroides, Pediastrum and Concentricystes inhabit freshwater lakes and both natural and artificial wetlands, such as paddy fields and ditches. Spiniferites is a salt-water genus and usually associated with the marine realm. | 2 | Origin area and migration route: Chloroplast DNA diversity in the arctic-alpine plant Koenigia islandica显示文摘The Hengduan Mountains(henceforth H-D Mountains) on the Tibet Plateau are a distribution and diversity center for many alpine genera. We examine patterns of genetic variation in an arctic-alpine plant to evaluate the possibility that the H-D Mountains constitute the area of origin of the species as well as to uncover postglacial migration routes. 220 individuals of the arctic-alpine plant Koenigia islandica were sampled from 26 populations distributed in western China and northern Finland. DNA haplotypes were identified using restriction site analysis of two chloroplast DNA intergene spacer regions, atpB-rbcL and trnL-trnF. We examined the geographical distribution of haplotype diversity in relation to latitude, and also compared various indices of diversity in putatively glaciated and unglaciated regions. Patterns of migration were inferred using nested clade analysis. A total of 25 haplotypes were detected. High haplotype diversity was found in the H-D Mountains. H3 and its radiated haplotypes were distributed in the Himalayas. Two haplotypes were fixed concurrently in the H-D Mountains and northern Finland. High genetic diversity of K. islandica and high species diversity of K. islandica are expected in the origin area. Our observations suggest that the H-D Mountains are not only the place of origin of K. islandica, but also the refugia for K. islandica on the Tibet Plateau. | 5 | Quantitative indicative significance of pollen assemblages on vegetation coverage in deciduous Quercus forest in the central Loess Plateau, China显示文摘We compared the pollen assemblages of surface moss samples and corresponding vegetation inventory data from 34 sites in the Huangling region of the central Loess Plateau. Our aims were to determine the characteristics of the pollen assemblages from the deciduous broadleaved forest climax community and its significance in terms of vegetation type and species composition. The pollen assemblages are dominated by woody plants such as Quercus(42% of total terrestrial pollen),Betula(16%) and Pinus(12%), with minor differences between different plant communities. The pollen assemblages of individual sampling sites differed from the vegetation composition within the 0–100 m scope and were more similar to the vegetation coverage within the 0–1000 m scope. This indicates that the surface pollen assemblages mainly reflect the comprehensive information from the vegetation composition of a large area, rather than the vegetation composition close to the sampling site. The contents of Quercus, Betula and Pinus pollen are high, and close to their vegetation coverage; whereas the contents of deciduous broadleaved arbor taxa(such as Malus and Acer) are lower, but their corresponding regional vegetation cover is higher. This suggests that the vegetation information conveyed by poorly-represented pollen taxa should be considered when interpreting stratigraphic pollen assemblages. Using the observed quantitative relationships between pollen and vegetation of the main taxa, we reconstructed the regional vegetation composition in the Gonghai Lake area of the northeastern Loess Plateau during the middle Holocene(7300–5000 yr BP). | 8 | All-optical generation,detection,and manipulation of picosecond acoustic pulses in 2D semiconductor/dielectric heterostructures显示文摘Launching,tracking,and controlling picosecond acoustic(PA)pulses are fundamentally important for the construction of ultrafast hypersonic wave sources,ultrafast manipulation of matter,and spatiotemporal imaging of interfaces.Here,we show that GHz PA pulses can be all-optically generated,detected,and manipulated in a 2D layered MoS_(2)∕glass heterostructure using femtosecond laser pump-probe.Based on an interferometric model,PA pulse signals in glass are successfully decoupled from the coexisting temperature and photocarrier relaxation and coherent acoustic phonon(CAP)oscillation signals of MoS_(2)lattice in both time and frequency domains.Under selective interface excitations,temperature-mediated interfacial phonon scatterings can compress PA pulse widths by about 50%.By increasing the pump fluences,anharmonic CAP oscillations of MoS_(2)lattice are initiated.As a result,the increased interatomic distance at the MoS_(2)∕glass interface that reduces interfacial energy couplings can markedly broaden the PA pulse widths by about 150%.Our results open new avenues to obtain controllable PA pulses in 2D semiconductor/dielectric heterostructures with femtosecond laser pump-probe,which will enable many investigations and applications. | WENXIONG XU YUANYUAN LI QIANNAN CUI HE ZHANG CHUANSHENG XIA HAO GUO GUANGQUAN ZHOU JIANHUA CHANG HUI ZHAO JUN WANG ZHONGZE GU CHUNXIANG XU | 2023 | Photonics Research2023,11,12: | 0 |
| 9 | On microstructure and performance of tempered high-boron high-speed steel roll显示文摘Influences of the tempering temperature on the microstructure, mechanical property and wear resistance of High-Boron High Speed Steel (HBHSS) roll materials were investigated by means of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, hardness measurement, impact tester, tensile tester and pin abrasion tester. The results show that the as-cast structure of HBHSS consists of a great amount of martensite and M2(B,C) and a few retained austenites and M23(B,C)6. After solution treated at 1,050 °C and followed by oil cooling, the amount of M23(B,C)6 carbo-borides in quenched HBHSS increases obviously and the macrohardness of the quenched HBHSS is 66 HRC, which is very close to the 65.8 HRC of as-cast HBHSS. On the whole, the hardness of HBHSS alloy shows a trend of slight decrease with increasing tempering temperature when tempered below 500 °C. While when above 500 °C, the hardness increases slightly as the tempering temperature increases and reaches a peak at 525 °C and then decreases obviously. The impact toughness of HBHSS has a tendency to increase as the tempering temperature increases. Tempering can improve the tensile strength and elongation of HBHSS, but a higher tempering temperature causes a slight decrease in both tensile strength and elongation. | 11 | Autologous exosome facilitates load and target delivery of bioactive peptides to repair spinal cord injury显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI)causes motor,sensory and automatic impairment due to rarely axon regeneration.Developing effective treatment for SCI in the clinic is extremely challenging because of the restrictive axonal regenerative ability and disconnection of neural elements after injury,as well as the limited systemic drug delivery efficiency caused by blood spinal cord barrier.To develop an effective non-invasive treatment strategy for SCI in clinic,we generated an autologous plasma exosome(AP-EXO)based biological scaffold where AP-EXO was loaded with neuron targeting peptide(RVG)and growth-facilitating peptides(ILP and ISP).This scaffold can be targeted delivered to neurons in the injured area and elicit robust axon regrowth across the lesion core to the levels over 30-fold greater than naïve treatment,thus reestablish the intraspinal circuits and promote motor functional recovery after spinal cord injury in mice.More importantly,in ex vivo,human plasma exosomes(HP-EXO)loaded with combinatory peptides of RVG,ILP and ISP showed safety and no liver and kidney toxicity in the application to nude SCI mice.Combining the efficacy and safety,the AP-EXO-based personalized treatment confers functional recovery after SCI and showed immense promising in biomedical applications in treating SCI.It is helpful to expand the application of combinatory peptides and human plasma derived autologous exosomes in promoting regeneration and recovery upon SCI treatment. | Ning Ran Wenxiang Li Renjie Zhang Caorui Lin Jianping Zhang Zhijian Wei Zonghao Li Zhongze Yuan Min Wang Baoyou Fan Wenyuan Shen Xueying Li Hengxing Zhou Xue Yao Xiaohong Kong Shiqing Feng | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,7: | 0 |
