1Effectiveness of Jinying capsule on pelvic inflammatory disease in patients with symptom pattern of damp and heat accumulation: a double-blinded, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of Jinying capsule on pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) in patients with symptoms identified as the pattern of damp and heat accumulation in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS: We conducted a double-blinded, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial which included 155 patients diagnosed with PID and identified as symptom pattern of damp and heat accumulation. They were randomly divided into experimental group(n = 78) and control group(n = 77) according to a random number table. The treatment lasted for a period of 28 d. The experimental group was given Jinying capsules and oral levofloxacin plus oral metronidazole for first 7 d.They continued with Jinying capsules and levofloxacin placebo and metronidazole placebo for another 7 d. For the remaining 14 d, they continued with Jinying capsules only. Whereas, the control group was treated with oral levofloxacin and metronidazole and Jinying capsule placebo for the first 14 d in the same way as the experimental group and then continued with Jinying capsule placebo only for the remaining 14 d. The clinical efficacy was assessed using McCormack scale, TCM symptom pattern scores, physicochemical indexes including white blood cell and erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reaction protein, smear of vaginal discharge,and pelvic ultrasound.RESULTS: Comparing McCormack scale between both groups after treatment, the difference in curative effect between both groups was significant (P = 0.0269). The cure rate of the experimental group and control group is 76.32% and 59.46% respectively at week 4. Comparing TCM symptom pattern scores between both groups before and after treatment, the differences in total effective rate were both significant(P < 0.05). The curative effect rate of experimental group is 2.63% and 13.70% of the control group at week 1(P = 0.0131), and73.33% of the experimental group and 56.94% of the control group at week 4(P = 0.0369). No significant differences were found between the two groups on the Physicochemical indexes(all P >0.05). 3Effects of substitution of Nd in a sand-cast Mg-2.5Nd-0.6Zn-0.5Zr alloy with x wt.% Sm(x=2.5, 4, and 6)显示文摘The microstructures and mechanical properties of a series of sand-cast Mg-Sm-Zn-Zr alloys under ascast, solution-treated and peak-aged states were thoroughly investigated. The OM, XRD, SEM and HRTEM were employed to characterize the microstructural evolution. The results indicate that substitution Nd in the conventional Mg-2.5 Nd-0.6 Zn-0.5 Zr alloy with different contents of Sm has comparative grain refinement effect and will fully change the dominant intermetallic phase. In addition, the substituted alloys perform clearly higher strength with comparative ductility at both as-cast and peakaged conditions and much greater aging hardening response than the referential alloy. 7The Microphysical Characteristics of Wintertime Cold Clouds in North China显示文摘The microphysical characteristics of wintertime cold clouds in North China were investigated from 22 aircraft observation flights from 2014 to 2017,2020,and 2021.The clouds were generated by mesoscale weather systems with little orographic component.Over the mixed-phase temperature range(–40℃to 0℃),the average fraction of liquid,mixedphase,and ice cloud was 4.9%,23.3%,and 71.8%,respectively,and the probability distribution of ice mass fraction was a half-U-shape,suggesting that ice cloud was the primary cloud type.The wintertime mixed-phase clouds in North China were characterized by large cloud droplet number concentration,small liquid water content(LWC),and small effective diameter of cloud droplets.The main reason for larger cloud droplet number concentration and smaller effective diameter of cloud droplets was the heavy pollution in winter in North China,while for smaller LWC was the lower temperature during flights and the difference in air mass type.With the temperature increasing,cloud droplet number concentration,LWC,and the size of ice particles increased,but ice number concentration and effective diameter of cloud droplets decreased,similar to other mid-latitude regions,indicating the similarity in the temperature dependence of cloud properties of mixed-phase clouds.The variation of the cloud properties and ice habit at different temperatures indicated the operation of the aggregation and riming processes,which were commonly present in the wintertime mixed-phase clouds.This study fills a gap in the aircraft observation of wintertime cold clouds in North China.Xuexu WU Minghuai WANG Delong ZHAO Daniel ROSENFELD Yannian ZHU Yuanmou DU Wei ZHOU Ping TIAN Jiujiang SHENG Fei WANG Deping DING 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,12:1
8Formation and Characterization of Bone-like Nanoscale Hydroxyapatite in Glass Bone Cement显示文摘Glass based bone cement (GBC) was synthesized by mixing CaO-SiO2-P2O5 based glass powder with ammonium phosphate liquid medium. Bone-like hydroxyapatite (HAP, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) was found to form after GBC was immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF). HAP crystal grew with an increasing time along c axle and reached about 200 nm in length after 30 days, however, the end plane granularity remained 30~50 nm. The chemical composition, crystal structure and morphology of HAP formed from GBC were proved to have great resemblance with living HAP.It is believed that GBC was a desirable biomedical material with high bioactivity. 9Characteristics and mechanism of smart fluid for sweep-controlling during CO_(2) flooding显示文摘A smart response fluid was designed and developed to overcome the challenges of gas channeling during CO_(2)flooding in low-permeability,tight oil reservoirs.The fluid is based on Gemini surfactant with self-assembly capabilities,and the tertiary amine group serves as the response component.The responsive characteristics and corresponding mechanism of the smart fluid during the interaction with CO_(2)/oil were studied,followed by the shear characteristics of the thickened aggregates obtained by the smart fluid responding to CO_(2).The temperature and salt resistance of the smart fluid and the aggregates were evaluated,and their feasibility and effectiveness in sweep-controlling during the CO_(2)flooding were confirmed.This research reveals:(1)Thickened aggregates could be assembled since the smart fluid interacted with CO_(2).When the mass fraction of the smart fluid ranged from 0.05%to 2.50%,the thickening ratio changed from 9 to 246,with viscosity reaching 13 to 3100 mPas.As a result,the sweep efficiency in low-permeability core models could be increased in our experiments.(2)When the smart fluid(0.5%to 1.0%)was exposed to simulated oil,the oil/fluid interfacial tension decreased to the level of 1×10^(-2)mN/m.Furthermore,the vesicle-like micelles in the smart fluid completely transformed into spherical micelles when the fluid was exposed to simulated oil with the saturation greater than 10%.As a result,the smart fluid could maintain low oil/fluid interfacial tension,and would not be thickened after oil exposure.(3)When the smart fluid interacted with CO_(2),the aggregates showed self-healing properties in terms of shear-thinning,static-thickening,and structural integrity after several shear-static cycles.Therefore,this fluid is safe to be placed in deep reservoirs.(4)The long-term temperature and salt resistance of the smart fluid and thickened aggregates have been confirmed.XIONG Chunming WEI Falin YANG Haiyang ZHANG Song DING Bin LEI Zhengdong ZHANG Deping ZHOU Qiang 2023Petroleum Exploration and Development2023,50,3:0
10Shoot rot of Zizania latifolia and the first record of its pathogen Pantoea ananatis in China显示文摘The aquatic grass Zizania latifolia grows symbiotically with the fungus Ustilago esculenta producing swollen structures called Jiaobai,widely cultivated in China.A new disease of Z.latifolia was found in Zhejiang Province,China.Initial lesions appeared on the leaf sheaths or sometimes on the leaves near the leaf sheaths.The lesions extended along the axis of the leaf shoots and formed long brown to dark brown streaks from the leaf sheath to the leaf,causing sheath rot and death of entire leaves on young plants.The pathogen was isolated and identified as the bacterium Pantoea ananatis,based on 16 S ribosomal RNA(r RNA)gene sequencing,multilocus sequence analysis(atp D(β-subunit of ATP synthase F1),gyr B(DNA gyrase subunit B),inf B(translation initiation factor 2),and rpo B(β-subunit of RNA polymerase)genes),and pathogenicity tests.Ultrastructural observations using scanning electron microscopy revealed that the bacterial cells colonized the vascular tissues in leaf sheaths,forming biofilms on the inner surface of vessel walls,and extended between vessel elements via the perforated plates.To achieve efficient detection and diagnosis of P.ananatis,species-specific primer pairs were designed and validated by testing closely related and unrelated species and diseased tissues of Z.latifolia.This is the first report of bacterial sheath rot disease of Z.latifolia caused by P.ananatis in China.Zilan XIAO Jianping DENG Xiaojun ZHOU Liyan ZHU Xiaochan HE Jingwu ZHENG Deping GUO Jingze ZHANG 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,4:0
11Fabrication of N-acetyl-L-cysteine-capped CdSe-polyelectrolytes @ Hydroxyapatite Composite Microspheres for Fluorescence Detection of Cu^(2+) Ions显示文摘N-Acetyl-L-cysteine-capped CdSe—polyelectrolytes @ hydroxyapatite(NAC—CdSe—PEs@HA) composite microspheres were fabricated through a stepwise layer-by-layer method and used for fluorescence detection of Cu^(2+) ions.The hollow HA microsphere was confirmed to be an ideal host to load CdSe quantum dots(QDs) due to their large surface area,well-defined porous structure,and large inner hollow size.Furthermore,the introduction of polyelectrolyte layers contributed to the increase of the loading amount and the electrostatic interaction between microsphere and QDs.Experiments results showed that among various metal ions investigated,Cu^(2+) exhibited the highest quenching effect on the fluorescence of CdSe QDs loaded in the composite microspheres.Additionally,the composite exhibited improved sensibility in detecting Cu^(2+) due to the presence of HA microspheres.Importantly,it is easy to separate and recycle the composite microspheres from the detection solution due to their relatively large size and high stability,thereby avoiding secondary contamination.Pengfei Li Aihua Yao Tian Zhou Deping Wang 2013Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,11:0
12BaTiO_(3)@Au nanoheterostructure suppresses triple-negative breast cancer by persistently disrupting mitochondrial energy metabolism显示文摘Abnormal metabolism has become a potential target for highly malignant and invasive triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)due to its relatively low response to traditional therapeutics.The existing metabolic interventions demonstrated unsatisfactory therapeutic outcomes and potential systemic toxicity,resulting from the metabolic instability and limited targeting ability of inhibitors as well as complex tumor microenvironment.To address these limitations,here we developed a robust pyroelectric BaTiO_(3)@Au core–shell nanostructure(BTO@Au)to selectively and persistently block energy generation of tumor cells.Stimulated by near-infrared(NIR)laser,the Au shell could generate heat to activate the BaTiO_(3)core to produce reactive oxygen species(ROS)regardless of the constrained microenvironment,thus prominently inhibits mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS)and reduces ATP production to induce TNBC cell apoptosis.The therapeutic effects have been well demonstrated in vitro and in vivo,paving a new way for the development of metabolic interventions.Yanlin Feng Jianlin Wang Xin Ning Aiyun Li Qing You Wanzhen Su Deping Wang Jianyun Shi Lan Zhou Fangfang Cao Xiaoyuan Chen Jimin Cao 2023Nano Research2023,16,2:0
13Single-stranded RNA as primers of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase for template-independent DNA polymerization显示文摘Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(Td T) has been characterized as template-independent polymerase using single-stranded DNA(ss DNA) as primers to generate random oligonucleotides. However, the extension performance of Td T to single-stranded RNA(ss RNA) is vague. By systematically comparing and contrasting the performance of Td T-catalyzed ss DNA and ss RNA extension, it is indicated that the catalytic efficiency of ss RNA as primers was about 3 times lower than ss DNA as primers.
