Active Fault Exploration and Seismic Hazard Assessment in Fuzhou City显示文摘It has been proven by a number of earthquake case studies that an active fault-induced earthquake beneath a city can be devastating. It is an urgent issue for seismic hazard reduction to explore the distribution of active faults beneath the urban area and identify the seismic source and the risks underneath. As a pilot project of active fault exploration in China, the project, entitled “Active fault exploration and seismic hazard assessment in Fuzhou City', started in early 2001 and passed the check before acceptance of China Earthquake Administration in August 2004. The project was aimed to solve a series of scientific issues such as fault location, dating, movement nature, deep settings, seismic risk and hazard, preparedness of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, and etc. by means of exploration and assessment of active faults by stages, i.e., the preliminary survey and identification of active faults in target area, the exploration of deep seismotectonic settings, the risk evaluation of active seismogenic faults, the construction of geographic information system of active faults, and so on. A lot of exploration methods were employed in the project such as the detection of absorbed mercury, free mercury and radon in soil, the geological radar, multi-channel DC electrical method, tsansient electromagnetic method, shallow seismic refraction and reflection, effect contrast of explored sources, and various sounding experiments, to establish the buried Quaternary standard section of the Fuzhou basin. By summing up, the above explorations and experiments have achieved the following results and conclusions: (1)The results of the synthetic pilot project of active fault exploration in Fuzhou City demonstrate that, on the basis of sufficient collection, sorting out and analysis of geological, geophysical and borehole data, the best method for active fault exploration (location) and seismic risk assessment (dating and characterizing) in urban area is the combination of various approaches, that is, the possible location of active fault determined by using geochemical exploration as a guide “scout', the shallow seismic sounding as the main tool, the electromagnetic method as a supplement, establishing the standard Quaternary profile or stratigraphic sequence from drilling and various geophysical parameters from borehole logs as methods to correct and verify the data above. And in addition, the method also includes the field surveys on fault exposures, trenching, paleoearthquake investigation, dating and comparison of lithology, strata sequence, absolute or relative ages of the cores on the two sides of buried faults. (2)The Fuzhou basin locates under the regional seismotectonic settings which have the potential of moderate earthquake. Comparatively, the region is less affected by the “Taiwan dynamic Antenna'; (3)The activity of the major faults in Fuzhou basin is weak in general. All the six identified target faults are not Holocene faults, among which the Bayi Reservoir-Shanggan fault and the Minhou-Nanyu fault are dormant at least since the mid Epipleistocene time, and the rest are dormant since the Epipleistocene time; (4)In terms of deep-seated structures beneath the basin, there is no evidence indicating the possible occurrence of the underneath strong destructive earthquakes. The adjacent Changle-Zhao’an fault zone is the potential seismic source which may possibly affect Fuzhou City; (5)There exists potential of moderate-strong earthquake on the major faults of the region, but the probability is low; (6)The seismic hazards are weak in the region and the surface earthquake fractures are not likely to occur; (7)The first geographic information system of active faults is developed with functions of information query and display, data management, analysis and processing, etc.Zhu Jinfang Huang Zonglin Xu Xiwei Zheng Rongzhang Fang Shengmin Bai Denghai Wang Guangcai Min Wei Wen Xueze Han Zhujun 2005Earthquake Research in China2005,19,3:7
Spatial and temporal distribution of Neolithic sites in coastal China:Sea level changes, geomorphic evolution and human adaption显示文摘The East China coastal plain is one of the most important Neolithic culture areas in China, where rich archaeological sites including those producing the earliest domesticated rice are observed. It is also a place where landscape has experienced dramatic evolution during the Holocene when both sea level and climate changed, such that it is an ideal place for studying human-environment interaction. This study investigated over 2000 sites of pre-history and Shang and Zhou Dynasties, with 655 of which being Neolithic ages, by using DEM and GIS methods. The results suggest that the spatial and temporal distribution of Neolithic sites has largely been controlled by landscape evolution(particularly changes in coastal line), which ultimately governed by sea level changes. During early Holocene, Neolithic sites sparsely distributed in the intermountain basins of east Zhejiang Province, far from the influence of ocean. Over the period of 9–7 ka, the coastal plain(including the shelf) was largely submerged, only the feet of low hills to the south and southwest of the study area, and islands protruding the estuary, cradled limited number of settlements with characteristic 'maritime components'. At about 7 ka, sea level rise decelerated prominently, while sediments supply in the drainage remained high value, the combination of which led to land formation and propagation. Vast space during this period facilitated the growth of settlements in both size and number. In the mean time, however, the coastal plain was vulnerable to extreme environmental events such as storms and flooding owning to its geomorphic nature, which exerted great influence on the rise and fall of Neolithic culture.ZHENG HongBo ZHOU YouSheng YANG Qing HU ZhuJun LING GuangJiu ZHANG JuZhong GU ChunGuang WANG YingYing CAO YeTing HUANG XianRong CHENG Yue ZHANG XiaoYu WU WenXiang 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,2:7
Bevacizumab promotes active biological behaviors of human umbilical vein endothelial cells by activating TG Fpi pathways via off-VEGF signaling显示文摘Objective:Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that blocks vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)with clear clinical benefits. However, overall survival of some cancer types remains low owing to resistance to bevacizumab therapy. While resistance is commonly ascribed to tumor cell invasion induced by hypoxia-inducible factor(HIF),less attention has been paid to the potential involvement of endothelial cells(ECs)in vasculature activated by anti-angiogenic drugs. Methods:Human umbilical vein ECs(HUVECs),bEnd.3 cells, and mouse retinal microvascular ECs(MRMECs)were treated with bevacizumab under conditions of hypoxia and effects on biological behaviors, such as migration and tube formation, examined.Regulatory effects on TGFpi and CD 105(endoglin)were established via determination o f protein and mRNA levels. We further investigated whether the effects of bevacizumab could be reversed using the receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor anlotinib. Results:Bevacizumab upregulated TGFpi as well as CD 105,a component o f the TGFP receptor complex and an angiogenesis promoter.Elevated CD 105 induced activation of Sm adl/5,the inflammatory pathway and endothelial-mesenchymal transition. The migration ability of HUVECs was enhanced by bevacizumab under hypoxia.Upregulation o f CD 105 was abrogated by anlotinib, which targets multiple receptor tyrosine kinases including VEGFR2/3,FGFR1-4,PD G FRα/β,C-Kit,and RET.Conclusions:Bevacizumab promotes migration and tube formation of HUVECs via activation of the TGFβi pathway and upregulation of CD105 expression.Anlotinib reverses the effects of bevacizumab by inhibiting the above signals.Xiaoling Zhang Yan Zhang Yanan Jia Tingting Qin Cuicui Zhang Yueya Li Chengmou Huang Zhujun Liu Jing Wang Kai Li 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,2:3

Growth, coalescence, and etching of two-dimensional overlayers on metals modulated by near-surface Ar nanobubbles显示文摘The synthesis of high-quality ultrathin overlayers is critically dependent on the surface structure of substrates, especially involving the overlayer–substrate interaction.By using in situ surface measurements,we demonstrate that the overlayer–substrate interaction can be tuned by doping near-surface Ar nanobubbles. The interfacial coupling strength significantly decreases with near-surface Ar nanobubbles, accompanying by an“anisotropic to isotropic”growth transformation. On the substrate containing near-surface Ar,the growth front crosses entire surface atomic steps in both uphill and downhill directions with no difference, and thus, the morphology of the two-dimensional(2D)overlayer exhibits a round-shape.Especially,the round-shaped 2D overlayers coalesce seamlessly with a growth acceleration in the approaching direction, which is barely observed in the synthesis of 2D materials. This can be attributed to the immigration lifetime and diffusion rate of growth species, which depends on the overlayer–substrate interaction and the surface catalysis.Furthermore, the“round to hexagon”morphological transition is achieved by etching-regrowth,revealing the inherent growth kinetics under quasi-freestanding conditions. These findings provide a novel promising way to modulate the growth, coalescence, and etching dynamics of 2D materials on solid surfaces by adjusting the strength of overlayer–substrate interaction, which contributes to optimization of large-scale production of 2D material crystals.Wei Wei Jiaqi Pan Haiping Lin Chanan Euaruksakul Zhiyun Li Rong Huang Li Wang Zhujun Wang Qiang Fu Yi Cui 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:0
Photocatalytic Metal-Free Radical Hydrosilylation for Polymer Functionalization显示文摘Comprehensive Summary,Post-modification of polymers offers a route to prepare functionalized polymers through efficient chemical reactions, and hydrosilylation is one of the most effective strategies.Silane-functionalized polymers have found a wide range of potential applications, such as adhesives, rubbers, and drug delivery agents. For decades, the hydrosilylation for the post-modification of polymers has typically used transition metals as catalysts.Metal-free hydrosilylation strategies that can avoid metal residues in polymers are largely lacking in this field.Herein,we report the photocatalytic metal-free radical hydrosilylation strategy for the post-modification of polymers bearing pendant vinyl groups using the organic photocatalyst and hydrogen atom transfer(HAT)catalyst under blue light irradiation. We used monofunctional silanes to functionalize polymers and the bis(silane)s as crosslinkers to prepare crosslinked polymers.Zhujun Huang Kaiwen Liu Mingyuan Liu Jie Yun Jin Dong Zhe Chen Zhikang Xie Xiangcheng Pan 2023Chinese Journal of Chemistry2023,41,18:0
Impairment of rigidity sensing caused by mutant TP53 gain of function in osteosarcoma显示文摘Osteosarcoma(OS)is the most common primary malignant pediatric bone tumor and is characterized by high heterogeneity.Studies have revealed a wide range of phenotypic differences among OS cell lines in terms of their in vivo tumorigenicity and in vitro colony-forming abilities. However, the underlying molecular mechanism of these discrepancies remains unclear. The potential role of mechanotransduction in tumorigenicity is of particular interest. To this end,we tested the tumorigenicity and anoikis resistance of OS cell lines both in vitro and in vivo.We utilized a sphere culture model,a soft agar assay, and soft and rigid hydrogel surface culture models to investigate the function of rigidity sensing in the tumorigenicity of OS cells.Additionally,we quantified the expression of sensor proteins, including four kinases and seven cytoskeletal proteins,in OS cell lines. The upstream core transcription factors of rigidity-sensing proteins were further investigated. We detected anoikis resistance in transformed OS cells. The mechanosensing function of transformed OS cells was also impaired, with general downregulation of rigidity-sensing components. We identified toggling between normal and transformed growth based on the expression pattern of rigidity-sensing proteins in OS cells. We further uncovered a novel TP53 mutation(R156P)in transformed OS cells, which acquired gain of function to inhibit rigidity sensing, thus sustaining transformed growth. Our findings suggest a fundamental role of rigidity-sensing components in OS tumorigenicity as mechanotransduction elements through which cells can sense their physical microenvironment. In addition, the gain of function of mutant TP53 appears to serve as an executor for such malignant programs.Ming Luo Mingyang Huang Ningning Yang Yufan Zhu Peng Huang Zhujun Xu Wengang Wang Lin Cai 2023Bone Research2023,11,2:0

Therapeutic applications of exosomes from adipose-derived stem cells in antifibrosis显示文摘Fibrosis is a condition in which connective tissue replaces normal parenchymal tissue, resulting in significant tissue remodeling.Fibrosis can affect several organs and pose a serious threat to human health and life.Adiposederived stem cells(ASCs)have been suggested as promising candidates for antifibrotic therapies.Paracrine secretion is one of the key processes in stem cell therapy due to its critical function in cellular communication.ASC-derived exosomes(ASC-exos)are used as tools for restoring and regenerating damaged tissue, and they are now thought to orchestrate antifibrosis-related events. In this review,we summarize the recent findings and present an extensive view of the therapeutic applications of ASC-exos in fibrotic diseases.Liquan Wang Zhujun Li Yunzhu Li Jiuzuo Huang Nanze Yu Xiao Long 2021Chinese Journal Of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery2021,3,3:0
