1Diagnostic value of 5 serum biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma with different epidemiological backgrounds:A large-scale,retrospective study显示文摘Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a lethal global disease that requires an accurate diagnosis.We assessed the potential of 5 serum biomarkers(AFP,AFU,GGT-II,GPC3,and HGF)in the diagnosis of HCC.Methods:In this retrospective study,we measured the serum levels of each biomarker using ELISAs in 921 participants,including 298 patients with HCC,154 patients with chronic hepatitis(CH),122 patients with liver cirrhosis(LC),and 347 healthy controls from 3 hospitals.Patients negative for hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibody(called'NBNC-HCC')and patients positive for the above indices(called'HBV-HCC and HCV-HCC')were enrolled.The selected diagnostic model was constructed using a training cohort(n=468),and a validation cohort(n=453)was used to validate our results.Receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy.Results:Theα-L-fucosidase(AFU)/α-fetoprotein(AFP)combination was best able to distinguish NBNC-HCC[area under the curve:0.986(95%confidence interval:0.958–0.997),sensitivity:92.6%,specificity:98.9%]from healthy controls in the test cohort.For screening populations at risk of developing HCC(CH and LC),the AFP/AFU combination improved the diagnostic specificity for early-stage HCC[area under the curve:0.776(0.712–0.831),sensitivity:52.5%,specificity:91.6%in the test group].In all-stage HBV-HCC and HCV-HCC,AFU was also the best candidate biomarker combined with AFP[area under the curve:0.835(0.784–0.877),sensitivity 69.1%,specificity:87.4%in the test group].All results were verified in the validation group.Conclusions:The AFP/AFU combination could be used to identify NBNC-HCC from healthy controls and hepatitis-related HCC from at-risk patients.Dongming Liu Yi Luo Lu Chen Liwei Chen Duo Zuo Yueguo Li Xiaofang Zhang Jing Wu Qing Xi Guangtao Li Lisha Qi Xiaofen Yue Xiehua Zhang Zhuoyu Sun Ning Zhang Tianqiang Song Wei Lu Hua Guo 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1:10
2A readily monitored and controllable hydrothermal system for the facile,cost-effective transformation of FGD gypsum to calcium sulfate hemihydrate whiskers显示文摘The controllable transformation of flue gas desulfurization(FGD)gypsum to calcium sulfate hemihydrate(HH)whiskers under facile,readily monitored,and cost-effective hydrothermal conditions could play a vital role in the preparation of high quality HH whiskers and improve our understanding of the transformation process.This work assessed the conversion of FGD gypsum to HH whiskers in 5×10^(-4)mol/L H_(2)SO_(4)and 1.5 wt%CuCl_(2)at 120℃while determining the effects of temperature as well as H_(2)SO_(4)and CuCl_(2)concentrations on transformation kinetics.The preparation of HH whiskers was found to involve a solution-mediated transformation from the dihydrate(DH)to theα-HH.This transition was determined to proceed via a dissolution crystallization mechanism,the rate of which was controlled by nucleation and growth of the HH whiskers.An autocatalytic kinetic model was established based on variations in the HH whiskers mole fraction over time,and this model accurately fit the experimental data with R2=0.990.Increasing the temperature or H_(2)SO_(4)concentration accelerated the transformation by modifying the super-saturation and water activity in the reaction solution,while increasing the CuCl_(2)concentration had the opposite effect.The hydrothermal conditions had an important effect on the transformation from FGD gypsum to HH whiskers.Bolun Cao Xiao Wang Xiaoting Zhang Biao Jin Zhuoyue Xu Xueping Liu Wei Zhang Liushuan Yang 2021Particuology2021,19,1:8
3Inhibiting collagen Ⅰ production and tumor cell colonization in the lung via miR-29a-3p loading of exosome-/liposome-based nanovesicles显示文摘The lung is one of the most common sites for cancer metastasis.Collagens in the lung provide a permissive microenvironment that supports the colonization and outgrowth of disseminated tumor cells.Therefore,down-regulating the production of collagens may contribute to the inhibition of lung metastasis.It has been suggested that mi R-29 exhibits effective anti-fibrotic activity by negatively regulating the expression of collagens.Indeed,our clinical lung tumor data shows that mi R-29 a-3 p expression negatively correlates with collagen I expression in lung tumors and positively correlates with patients’outcomes.However,suitable carriers need to be selected to deliver this therapeutic mi RNA to the lungs.In this study,we found that the chemotherapy drug cisplatin facilitated mi R-29 a-3 p accumulation in the exosomes of lung tumor cells,and this type of exosomes exhibited a specific lung-targeting effect and promising collagen down-regulation.To scale up the preparation and simplify the delivery system,we designed a lung-targeting liposomal nanovesicle(by adjusting the molar ratio of DOTAP/cholesterol-mi RNAs to 4:1)to carry mi R-29 a-3 p and mimic the exosomes.This liposomal nanovesicle delivery system significantly down-regulated collagen I secretion by lung fibroblasts in vivo,thus alleviating the establishment of a pro-metastatic environment for circulating lung tumor cells.Yan Yan Cancan Du Xixi Duan Xiaohan Yao Jiajia Wan Ziming Jiang Zhongyu Qin Wenqing Li Longze Pan Zhuoyu Gu Fazhan Wang Ming Wang Zhihai Qin 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:7

5ADRC based control for a class of input time delay systems显示文摘This paper is concerned with the control design and the theoretical analysis for a class of input time-delay systems with stable, critical stable or unstable poles. In order to overcome the time delay, a novel feed-forward compensation active disturbance rejection control(FFC-ADRC) approach is proposed. It combines advantages of the Smith predictor and the traditional active disturbance rejection control(ADRC). The tracking differentiator(TD) is designed to predict the control signal, which adds an anticipatory control to the control signal and allows a higher observer bandwidth to obtain better disturbance rejection. The modified extended state observer(ESO) is designed to estimate both system states and the total disturbances(internal disturbance, uncertainties and delayed disturbance). Then the Lyapunov theory and the theory of the input-output stability are applied to prove the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop control system. 7Surface nanostructures orienting self-protection of an orthodontic nickel-titanium shape memory alloys wire显示文摘Shape memory alloys (SMA) have been applied to a wide variety of applications in a number of different fields such as aeronautical applications, sensors/actuators, medical sciences as well as orthodontics. It is a hot topic to enhance the anti-corrosion ability of orthodontic wires for clinical applications. In this letter, a very nice fractal structure, micro-domains with identical nanometer sized grooves, was ob- tained on the surfaces of the orthodontic wires with an oxygen plasma and acid corrosion. The concave parts of the grooves were dominated by titanium and convex parts were the same as the bulk wires. The micro-nano fractal structure generated a hydrophobic surface with the largest contact angle to water being about 157°. The titanium dominated nanolayer and the hydrophobicity of the surface resulted in jointly the great improvement of the anti-corrosion ability of the orthodontic wires. Because the fractal structures of the wires were formed automatically when they immersed in acidic environment, hence, the self-protection of the oxygen plasma-treated orthodontic wires in acidic environment indicates their potential applications in orthodontics, and should be also inspirable for other applications of SMA materials.NIE Qiong JI ZhuoYu LIN JiuXiang HU WenPing 2007Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,21:4
8Effect of W on microstructure of high strength and toughness steels显示文摘The effect of W on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of ultrahigh strength low alloy steels was carried out. The microstructure of 30Cr3Si2Mn2NiMoNb and 30Cr3Si2Mn2NiMoNbW steels under quenched conditions were investigated by metallographic microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Thermodynamic calculation was also conducted. The results showed that the addition of W made undissolved carbides more and finer, which exerted strong pinning force on migrating packet boundary and improved tensile strength significantly. 10Elastin-like polypeptide modified silk fibroin porous scaffold promotes osteochondral repair显示文摘Silk fibroin(SF)is considered biocompatible and biodegradable for osteochondral repair.However,it lacks a bioactive domain for cell adhesion,proliferation and differentiation,limiting its therapeutic efficacy.To revamp SF as a biomimicking and bioactive microenvironment to regulate cell behaviours,we engineered an elastin-like polypeptide(ELP,Val-Pro-Gly-Xaa-Gly)to modify SF fibers via simple and green dehydrothermal(DHT)treatment.Our results demonstrated that the ELP successfully bound to SF,and the scaffold was reinforced by the fusion of the silk fiber intersections with ELP(S-ELP-DHT)via the DHT treatment.Both bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)and chondrocytes exhibited improved spreading and proliferation on the S-ELP-DHT scaffolds.The ex vivo and in vivo experiments further demonstrated enhanced mature bone and cartilage tissue formation using the S-ELP-DHT scaffolds compared to the naked SF scaffolds.These results indicated that a recombinant ELPmodified silk scaffold can mimic three-dimensional(3D)cell microenvironment,and improve bone and cartilage regeneration.We envision that our scaffolds have huge clinical potential for osteochondral repair.Zhuoyue Chen Qiang Zhang Hongmin Li Qi Wei Xin Zhao Fulin Chen 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,3:4

12Heart-on-chips screening based on photonic crystals显示文摘Recently,organ-on-chips have become a fast-growing research field with the widespread development of microfluidic chips and synthetic materials in tissue engineering.Due to the existing cardiotoxicity of many cardiovascular drugs,heart-onchips which are promising to replace traditional animal models have been extensively researched and developed to mimic human organ functions in vitro.The heart-on-chips mainly focus on cardiac mechanics,which is regarded as the central indicator of in vitro heart models and drug testing.Traditional methods for the detection of myocardial mechanics have been demonstrated complex and inefficient in heart-on-chips.Therefore,photonic crystal materials with unique optical properties have attracted interests and have been introduced into the heart-on-chips,developing a visualized self-reporting system for cardiomyocytes activity monitoring.In this review,photonic crystal-based heart-on-chips for biosensing are introduced,as well as the fabricationmethods and design criteria of them.The characterizations of the photonic crystal materials are classified into optical properties and structural properties,and their applications in cell culture and biosensing are further discussed.Then,several representative examples and developments of the integration of photonic crystal materials into microfluidic chips are described in detail.Finally,potentials and limitations are put forward to promote the development of the photonic crystal-based intelligent heart-on-chips.Yixuan Shang Zhuoyue Chen Zhuohao Zhang Yuzhi Yang Yuanjin Zhao 2020Bio-Design and Manufacturing2020,3,3:3
13An improved wall shear stress measurement technique using sandwiched hot-film sensors显示文摘In this letter we present a novel wall shear stress measurement technique for a turbulent boundary layer using sandwiched hot-film sensors. Under certain conditions, satisfactory results can be obtained using only the heat generated by one of the hot-film and a calibration of the sensors is not required. Two thin Nickel films with the same size were used in this study, separated by an electrical insulating layer. The upper film served as a sensor and the bottom one served as a guard heater. The two Nickel films were operated at a same temperature, so that the Joule heat flux generated by the sensor film transferred to the air with a minimum loss or gain depending on the uncertainties in the film temperature measurements. Analytical solution of the shear stress based on the aforementioned heat flux was obtained. The preliminary results were promising and the estimated wall shear stresses agreed reasonably well with the directly measured values(with errors less than 20%) in a fully developed turbulent pipe flow. 14Electrical conductivities of carbon nanotube-filled polycarbonate/polyester blends显示文摘Carbon nanotube (CNT)-filled polycarbonate (PC)/poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) and polycarbonate (PC)/poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) blends containing 1 wt% CNTs over a wide range of blend compositions were prepared by melt mixing in a torque rheometer to investigate the structure-electrical conductivity relationship. Field emission scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the blend morphology and the distribution of CNTs. The latter was compared with the thermodynamic predictions through the calculation of wetting coefficients. It was found that CNTs are selectively localized in the polyester phase and conductive blends can be obtained over the whole composition range (20 wt%, 50 wt% and 80 wt% PBT) for CNT-filled PC/PBT blends, while conductive CNT-filled PC/PET blends can only be obtained when PET is the continuous phase (50 wt%, 80 wt% PET). 15Sex disparity of lung cancer risk in non-smokers:a multicenter population-based prospective study based on China National Lung Cancer Screening Program显示文摘Background: Non-smokers account for a large proportion of lung cancer patients, especially in Asia, but the attention paid to them is limited compared with smokers. In non-smokers, males display a risk for lung cancer incidence distinct from the females-even after excluding the influence of smoking;but the knowledge regarding the factors causing the difference is sparse. Based on a large multicenter prospective cancer screening cohort in China, we aimed to elucidate the interpretable sex differences caused by known factors and provide clues for primary and secondary prevention.Methods: Risk factors including demographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, family history of cancer, and baseline comorbidity were obtained from 796,283 Chinese non-smoking participants by the baseline risk assessment completed in 2013 to 2018. Cox regression analysis was performed to assess the sex difference in the risk of lung cancer, and the hazard ratios (HRs) that were adjusted for different known factors were calculated and compared to determine the proportion of excess risk and to explain the existing risk factors.Results: With a median follow-up of 4.80 years, 3351 subjects who were diagnosed with lung cancer were selected in the analysis. The lung cancer risk of males was significantly higher than that of females;the HRs in all male non-smokers were 1.29 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.20-1.38) after adjusting for the age and 1.38 (95% CI: 1.28-1.50) after adjusting for all factors, which suggested that known factors could not explain the sex difference in the risk of lung cancer in non-smokers. Known factors were 7% (|1.29-1.38|/1.29) more harmful in women than in men. For adenocarcinoma, women showed excess risk higher than men, contrary to squamous cell carcinoma;after adjusting for all factors, 47% ([1.30-1.16]/[1.30-1]) and 4% ([7.02-6.75]/[7.02-1])) of the excess risk was explainable in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The main causes of gender differences in lung cancer risk were lifestyle factors, baseline comorbidity, and family history.Conclusions: Significant gender differences in the risk of lung cancer were discovered in China non-smokers. 16Low voltage organic devices and circuits with aluminum oxide thin film dielectric layer显示文摘Low voltage operating organic devices and circuits have been realized using atomic layer deposition deposited aluminum oxide thin film as dielectric layer. The dielectric film has per unit area capacitance of 165 nF/cm2 and leakage current of 1 nA/cm2 at 1 MV/cm. The devices and circuits use the small-molecule hydrocarbon pentacene as the active semiconductor material. Transistors,inverters,and ring oscillators with operating voltage lower than 5 V were obtained. The mobility of organic field-effect transistors was extracted to be 0.16 cm2/Vs in saturation range,the threshold voltage is 0.3 V,and the on/off current ratio is larger than 105. 17Response of turbulent fluctuations to the periodic perturbations in a flow over a backward facing step显示文摘The flow structures in a separated shear layer actuated by a synthetic jet actuator were studied using experimental methods. When forced at a frequency much lower than the natural shedding frequency(fH/U = 0.042 or fX_r/U = 0.24), the vertical flapping motion of the shear layer downstream of the separation point became prominent. The size of the peak in the pressure spectra at the forcing frequency(St_A= f_AH/U) measured near the separation point(x/H = 1) increased linearly with the forcing amplitude(u′/U) suggesting a linear response of the pressure fluctuations to the forcing by the synthetic jet.The linear response did not hold for the pressure fluctuations away from the jet exit as the magnitude of the peak for St_A measured at x/H = 3 soon saturated when the forcing amplitude became larger than 0.3.Zhuoyue Li Honglei Bai Nan Gao 2015Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2015,5,5:2
18Rapid and selective uranium extraction from aqueous solution under visible light in the absence of solid photocatalyst显示文摘Extraction of uranium from radioactive waste-water is of significant importance for environmental protection and the recovery of uranium resource.Different from the previous reports to use the solid absorbent/photocatalyst for U(VI)removal,herein,we proposed a new eco-friendly method for the rapid and selective extraction of uranium from aqueous solutions under visible light without solid materials.At optimal pH value and in the presence of organics like alcohols,the U(VI)could be extracted efficiently to form brown uranium solid over wide uranium concentrations under anaerobic condition and visible light,by utilizing the excitation of the given U(VI)species.With comprehensive modelling of the electronic ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)properties,it is proved that pH adjusting towards U(VI)could induce efficient ligand-to-metal-charge-transfer(LMCT)within the uranyl complex under visible light and the reduction of U(VI)to form U(V),which can be transformed into U(IV)via disproportionation reaction.The resulting U(IV)in solid phase makes the extraction much more convenient in operation.More importantly,the excellent selectivity for uranium extraction over interfering alkali metal ions,transition metal ions and the lanthanide metal ions shows a powerful application potential.Shaojun Li Yezi Hu Zewen Shen Yawen Cai Zhuoyu Ji Xiaoli Tan Zhixin Liu Guixia Zhao Shuxian Hu Xiangke Wang 2021Science China Chemistry2021,64,8:2
19Experimental design and theoretical evaluation of nitrogen and phosphorus dual-doped hierarchical porous carbon for high-performance sodium-ion storage显示文摘Starch has a wide range of sources and can be used as a high-quality precursor for sodium-ion battery anode materials.However,the carbonization yield and specific capacity of carbon materials obtained by directly pyrolyzing starch are low.Herein,starch is used as the carbon source,and ammonium polyphosphate(APP)is used as the cross-linking agent and dopant to prepare a nitrogen and phosphorus co-doped porous carbon(NPPC).As the anode for sodium-ion batteries,NPPC-2 exhibits a high reversible capacity of 385.8 mAhg^(-1)at 50 mAg^(-1).Even after 1000 cycles at a large current density of 5 Ag^(-1),the reversible capacity can still be maintained at 126.9 mAhg^(-1).Based on detailed data and first-principles calculations,the excellent performance of NPPC is due to the effective doping of nitrogen and phosphorus elements,which distorts the graphite sheet,introduces defects,and increases the graphite layer spacing,thereby enhancing the adsorption capacity of the carbon material for sodium ions,reducing the diffusion barrier of sodium ions.This work provides a new idea for heteroatom doping and carbon material modification.Chen Chen Ying Huang Zhuoyue Meng Mengwei Lu Zhipeng Xu Panbo Liu Tiehu Li 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,17:2
20Fiber-Optic Raman Spectrum Sensor for Fast Diagnosis of Esophageal Cancer显示文摘A fiber-optic Raman spectrum sensor system is used for the fast diagnosis of esophageal cancer during clinical endoscopic examination.The system contains a 785nm exciting laser,a Raman fiber-optic probe with 7 large core fibers and a focus lens,and a highly sensitive spectrum meter.The Raman spectrum of the tissue could be obtained within 1 second by using such a system. A signal baseline removal and denoising technology is used to improve the signal quality.A novel signal feature extraction method for differentiating the normal and esophageal cancer tissues is proposed,based on the differences in half-height width(HHW)in 1200cm^-1 to 1400cm^-1 frequency band and the ratios of the spectral integral energy between 1600cm^-1-1700cm^-1 and 1500cm^-1- 1600cm^-1 band.It shows a high specificity and effectivity for the diagnosis of esophageal cancer.Jianhua DAI Xiu HE Zhuoyue LI Kang LI Tingting YANG Zengling RAN Lijian YIN Yao CHEN Xiang ZOU Dianchun FANG Guiyong PENG 2019Photonic Sensors2019,9,1:2
