1Increased Vitamin C Content Accompanied by an Enhanced Recycling Pathway Confers Oxidative Stress Tolerance in Arabidopsis显示文摘Vitamin C(L-ascorbic acid,AsA) has important antioxidant and metabolic functions in both plants and animals.Once used,ascorbic acid can be regenerated from its oxidized form in a reaction catalyzed by dehydroascorbate reductase(DHAR,EC 1.8.5.1).To analyze the physiological role of DHAR catalyzing the reduction of DHA to ascorbate in environmental stress adaptation,we examined whether increasing the level of AsA through enhanced AsA recycling would limit the deleterious effects of oxidative stress.A chimeric construct consisting of the double CaMV35S promoter fused to the Myc-dhar gene was introduced into Arabidopsis thaliana.Transgenic plants were biochemically characterized and tested for responses to oxidative stress.Western blot indicated that the dhar-transgene was successfully expressed.In homozygous T4 transgenic seedlings,DHAR overexpression was increased up to 1.5 to 5.4 fold,which enhanced foliar ascorbic acid levels 2-to 4.25-fold and ratio of AsA/DHA about 3-to 16-fold relative to wild type.In addition,the level of glutathione,the reductant used by DHAR,also increased as did its redox state.When whole plants were treated with high light and high temperature stress or in vitro leaf discs were subjected to 10 μM paraquat,transgenic plants showed a larger AsA pool size,lower membrane damage,and a higher level of chlorophyll compared with controls.These data suggested that increasing the plant vitamin C content through enhanced ascorbate recycling could limit the deleterious effects of environmental oxidative stress.zinan wang Ying Xiao Wansheng Chen Kexuan Tang Lei Zhang 2010Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2010,52,4:16

3miR-125b-5p and miR-99a-5p downregulate human γδ T-cell activation and cytotoxicity显示文摘As an important component of innate immunity,human circulatingγδT cells function in rapid responses to infections and tumorigenesis.MicroRNAs(miRNAs)play a critical regulatory role in multiple biological processes and diseases.Therefore,how the functions of circulating humanγδT cells are regulated by miRNAs merits investigation.In this study,we profiled the miRNA expression patterns in human peripheralγδT cells from 21 healthy donors and identified 14 miRNAs that were differentially expressed between peripheralαβT cells andγδT cells.Of the 14 identified genes,7 miRNAs were downregulated,including miR-150-5p,miR-450a-5p,miR-193b-3p,miR-365a-3p,miR-31-5p,miR-125b-5p and miR-99a-5p,whereas the other 7 miRNAs were upregulated,including miR-34a-5p,miR-16-5p,miR-15b-5p,miR-24-3p,miR-22-3p,miR-22-5p and miR-9-5p,inγδT cells compared withαβT cells.In subsequent functional studies,we found that both miR-125b-5p and miR-99a-5p downregulatedγδT cell activation and cytotoxicity to tumor cells.Overexpression of miR-125b-5p or miR-99a-5p inγδT cells inhibitedγδT cell activation and promotedγδT cell apoptosis.Additionally,miR-125b-5p knockdown facilitated the cytotoxicity ofγδT cells toward tumor cells in vitro by increasing degranulation and secretion of IFN-γand TNF-α.Our findings improve the understanding of the regulatory functions of miRNAs inγδT cell activation and cytotoxicity,which has implications for interventional approaches toγδT cell-mediated cancer therapy.Yuli Zhu Siya Zhang Zinan Li Huaishan Wang Zhen Li Yu Hu Hui Chen Xuan Zhang Lianxian Cui Jianmin Zhang Wei He 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,2:5
4Analysis of thickness-shear and thickness-twist modes of AT-cut quartz acoustic wave resonator and filter显示文摘The thickness-shear(TS) and thickness-twist(TT) vibrations of partially electroded AT-cut quartz plates for acoustic wave resonator and filter applications are theoretically studied. The plates have structural variations in one of the two in-plane directions of the plates only. The scalar differential equations derived by Tiersten and Smythe for electroded and unelectroded AT-cut quartz plates are used, resulting in free vibration resonant frequencies and mode shapes for both fundamental and overtone families of modes. The trapped modes with vibrations, mainly confined in the electroded areas, are found to exist in both the resonator and the filter structures. 6Current Opinions on the Functions of Tocopherol Based on the Genetic Manipulation of Tocopherol Biosynthesis in Plants显示文摘As a member of an important group of lipid soluble antioxidants, tocopherols play a paramount role in the daily diet of humans and animals. Recently, genes required for tocochromanol biosynthesis pathway have been identified and cloned with the help of genomics-based approaches and molecular manipulation in the model organisms: Arabidopsis thaliana and Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. At the basis of these foundations, genetic manipulation of tocochromanol biosynthesis pathway can give rise to strategies that enhance the level of tocochromanol content or convert the constitution of tocochromanol. In addition, genetic manipulations of the tocochromanol biosynthesis pathway provide help for the study of the function of tocopherol in plant systems. The present article summarizes recent advances and pays special attention to the functions of tocopherol in plants. 8LD-Pumped Random Fiber Laser Based on Erbium-Ytterbium Co-Doped Fiber显示文摘In this paper,a cladding-pumped erbium-ytterbium co-doped random fiber laser(EYRFL)operating at 1550 nm with high power laser diode(LD)is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for the first time.The laser cavity includes a 5-m-long erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber that serves as the gain medium,as well as a 2-km-long single-mode fiber(SMF)to provide random distributed feedback.As a result,stable 2.14 W of 1550 nm random lasing at 9.80 W of 976 nm LD pump power and a linear output with the slope efficiency as 22.7%are generated.This simple and novel random fiber laser could provide a promising way to develop high power 1.5μm light sources.Qingyang MENG Han WU Bing HAN Jiaqi LI Zinan WANG 2020Photonic Sensors2020,10,2:1

12Cascaded Random Raman Fiber Laser With Low RIN and Wide Wavelength Tunability显示文摘Cascaded random Raman fiber lasers(CRRFLs)have been used as a new platform for designing high power and wavelength-agile laser sources.Recently,CRRFL pumped by ytterbium-doped random fiber laser(YRFL)has shown both high power output and low relative intensity noise(RIN).Here,by using a wavelength-and bandwidth-tunable point reflector in YRFL,we experimentally investigate the impacts of YRFL on the spectral and RIN properties of the CRRFL.We verify that the bandwidth of the point reflector in YRFL determines the bandwidth and temporal stability of YRFL.It is found that with an increase in the bandwidth of the point reflector in YRFL from 0.2 nm to 1.4 nm,CRRFL with higher spectral purity and lower RIN can be achieved due to better temporal stability of YRFL pump.By broadening the point reflector’s bandwidth to 1.4 nm,the lasing power,spectral purity,and RIN of the 4th-order random lasing at 1349 nm can reach 3.03 W,96.34%,and–115.19 dB/Hz,respectively.For comparison,the spectral purity and RIN of the 4th-order random lasing with the point reflector’s bandwidth of 0.2 nm are only 91.20%and–107.99 dB/Hz,respectively.Also,we realize a wavelength widely tunable CRRFL pumped by a wavelength-tunable YRFL.This work provides a new platform for the development of ideal distributed Raman amplification pump sources based on CRRFLs with both good temporal stability and wide wavelength tunability,which is of great importance in applications of optical fiber communication and distributed sensing.Bing HAN Shisheng DONG Yang LIU Zinan WANG 2022Photonic Sensors2022,12,4:1

14Ultra-high speed random bit generation based on Rayleigh feedback assisted ytterbium-doped random fiber laser显示文摘In this paper, we propose an ultra-high speed random bit generator without the time-delay signature based on an ytterbium-doped random fiber laser(YRFL) with Rayleigh scattering feedback. The spectrum of the YRFL has a relatively broad bandwidth(0.35 nm) and the lasing temporal intensity shows random fluctuations without cavity induced time-delay signatures(TDS),which are essential for ultra-high speed random bit generation. The chaotic signal and its time-delayed signal sampling at40 Giga samples per second(GS/s) are converted to digital 8-bit signals. By selecting 5 least significant bits from each 8-bit digital signal and using bitwise exclusive-OR operation, we experimentally achieve 200 Gbps physical random bit generation based on ytterbium-doped random fiber laser with the verified randomness. 15Radiation build-up and dissipation in Raman random fiber laser显示文摘Raman random fiber laser(RRFL)is a complex physical system that arises from the distributed Raman amplification and the intrinsic stochasticity of fiber scattering.The analysis of the underlying lightwave kinetics at steady state has been the focus of considerable interest.However,the transient state,such as the RRFL build-up and dissipation,is particularly important for revealing the lightwave interaction process.Here,we investigate for the first time the RRFL dynamics at the transient state and track the RRFL temporal and spectral evolution theoretically and experimentally.Particularly,with the contribution of random distributed feedback,RRFL build-up exhibits continuous Verhulst logistic growth curves without cavity-related features,which is significantly different from the step-like growth curve of conventional fiber lasers.Furthermore,the radiation build-up duration is inversely related to the pump power,and the spectral evolution of the RRFL undergoes two phases,i.e.,from spectral density increase to spectral broadening.From the steady state to the pump switch-off state,the RRFL output power dissipates immediately,and the remaining Stokes lightwave from the Rayleigh scattering will gradually disappear after one round trip.This work provides new insights into the transient dynamic features of the RRFL.Shengtao LIN Zinan WANG Jiaojiao ZHANG Pan WANG Han WU Yifei QI 2024Science China(Information Sciences)2024,67,1:0

17Water-induced electrode poisoning and the mitigation strategy for high temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells显示文摘Engineering failure of membrane electrode assembly caused by increasingly fuel poisoning in the high temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells fed with humidified reformate gases is firstly demonstrated herein this work. Based on the results of the in-situ environmental scanning electron microscope, electrochemical analyses, and limiting current method, a water-induced phosphoric acid invasion model is constructed in the porous electrode to elucidate the failure causations of the hindered hydrogen mass transport and the enhanced carbon monoxide poisoning. To optimize the phosphoric acid distribution under the inevitably humidified circumstance, a facile and effective strategy of constructing acid-proofed electrode is proposed and demonstrates outstanding stability with highly humidified reformate gases as anode fuel. 18Prediction of fiber Rayleigh scattering responses based on deep learning显示文摘Distributed acoustic sensing(DAS) is a fiber sensing technology based on Rayleigh scattering,which transforms optical fiber into a series of sensing units. It has become an indispensable part in the field of seismic monitoring, vehicle tracking, and pipeline monitoring. Fiber Rayleigh scattering responses lay at the core of DAS. However, there are few in-depth studies on the purpose of acquiring fiber Rayleigh scattering responses. In this paper, we establish a deep learning framework based on the bidirectional gated recurrent unit, which is the first time to predict the fiber Rayleigh scattering responses, to the best of our knowledge. The deep learning framework is trained with a numerical simulation dataset only, but it can process experimental data successfully. Moreover, since the responses could have a wider effective bandwidth than the experimental probing pulses, a finer spatial resolution could be obtained after demodulation.
