Variation in needle and cone traits in natural populations of Pinus yunnanensis显示文摘Pinus yunnanensis Franch. is a major component of coniferous forests in southwestern China. Little is known about its intraspecific variation. Morphological variations in needle and cone traits of P. yunnanensis were analyzed to quantify variability among and within natural populations.Seven traits were measured on 10 needles collected from 30 trees in each of the 18 sampled populations of P. yunnanensis. Four cone traits were measured in 221 individual trees from nine populations. The results showed that there were significant differences(p \ 0.01) both among populations and within populations in each needle and cone trait. The proportion of phenotypic variation of nearly all needle and cone traits was over 50 % within populations, which showed trees within populations accounted for a majority of the total variation. The needle traits showed higher variability within population than cone traits. Variability in theneedle traits was correlated with geo-climatic parameters(longitude, latitude, altitude, temperature, and precipitation).Needle length and the ratio of needle length to fascicle sheath length showed clinal variation in response to latitudinal and altitudinal gradients. A hierarchical classification of all populations based on needle traits led to the formation of four major groups. The findings provide important genetic information for the evaluation of variation. Moreover, it will assist in management of genetic diversity of P. yunnanensis.Yulan Xu Keith Woeste Nianhui Cai Xiangyang Kang Genqian Li Shi Chen Anan Duan 2016Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,1:15
Genetic structure of needle morphological and anatomical traits of Pinus yunnanensis显示文摘Pinus yunnanensis Franch. is an particular conifer tree species in Yunnan–Guizhou plateau in southwest China. The morphological and anatomical traits of needles are important to evaluate geographic variation and population dynamics of conifer species. Seedlings from seven populations of P. yunnanensis were analyzed, looking at 22 morphological and anatomical needle traits. The results showed that variations among and within populations were significantly different for all traits and the variance components within populations were generally higher than that among populations in the most tested needle traits. The proportions of three-needle fascicle were significantly different among populations. The traits related to needle size in both morphology and anatomy were positive with latitude and negative with annual temperature and precipitation. Ratio indices, including mesophyllarea/vascular bundle area, mesophyll area/resin canals area, vascular bundle area/resin canals area and mesophyll area/(resin canals area and vascular bundle area), were negatively correlated with elevation and positively correlated with the annual mean temperature, showing some fitness feature for the populations. Needle traits were more significantly correlated with longitude than with other four environmental factors. Needle length was significantly correlated with almost all environmental factors. First four principal components accounted for 81.596 % of the variation with eigenvalues [1; the differences among populations were mainly dependent on needle width, stomatal density, section areas of vascular bundle, total resin canals, and mesophyll, as well as area ratio traits.Seven populations were divided into three categories by Euclidean distance. Variations in needle traits among the populations have shown systematic microevolution in terms of geographic impact on P. yunnanensis. This study would provide empirical data to characterize adaptation and genetic variation of P. yunnanensis, which would be helpful for management of genetic resources and reasonable utilization of them in future.Yujie Huang Jianfeng Mao Zhiqiang Chen Jingxiang Meng Yulan Xu Anan Duan Yue Li 2016Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,1:3
Variation in seed and seedling traits and their relations to geo-climatic factors among populations in Yunnan Pine(Pinus yunnanensis)显示文摘Differences in seed germination and seedling growth among populations of Pinus yunnanensis Franch.were quantified to provide information for use in the regeneration, reforestation, and improvement of this species.Seed germination and seedling growth traits at the nursery stage were investigated at the population level. We evaluated relationships between pairs of measured traits as well as the association between measured traits and geoclimatic variables including longitude, latitude, elevation, temperature and precipitation.Seedling growth showed significant differences although a low magnitude of variation was found in the seed germination traits among the populations. Some populations with strong and stable growth(e.g.,the Baoshan population) may be selected as superior seed sources for regeneration and reforestation.Germination percentage was negatively correlated with elevation, and positively with precipitation. In addition, germination index, vigor index and seedling height were positively correlated with precipitation.Seed germination index, cotyledon number and length, and seedling diameter were significantly and positively correlated with seed weight.Strong correlations between pairs of traits will be helpful in early evaluations for the selection of certain prominent traits.Nianhui Cai Yulan Xu Shi Chen Bin He Genqian Li Yue Li Anan Duan 2016Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,5:2

Pancreatic head cancer with gastrointestinal bleeding as the initial manifestation:a case report and literature review显示文摘Gastrointestinal bleeding(GIB)as the initial symptom is rare in patients with pancreatic cancer, which is prone to misdiagnosis and should be paid attention to by clinicians. Here,we present a patient with pancreatic head cancer whose first symptom was only severe upper gastrointestinal bleeding, which initially led to misdiagnosis. However, subsequent imaging revealed a mass in the pancreatic head which was considered a malignant tumor. After surgical resection, the pathology confirmed that the mass in the pancreatic head was pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and the duodenal bulb’s full thickness was infiltrated.A literature review found that pancreatic cancer can present gastrointestinal bleeding by invading the digestive tract and blood vessels,left-sided portal hypertension(LSPH),digestive tract metastasis, and canceration of ectopic pancreatic tissue in the digestive tract. For these cases, clinicians should utilize multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment based on digestive endoscopy, imaging, interventional therapy, and surgery to control bleeding, identify etiology, and remove tumors.Minghui Zheng Zhiping Fu Ting Niu Anan Liu Danlei Chen Junfeng Peng Judong Li Zhiyuan Hao Qingyang Yu Zechao Lyu Chenghao Shao 2023Journal of Pancreatology2023,6,3:0
Quantitative estimation of the influence factors on snow/ice albedo显示文摘Quantitative estimation of the influence of various factors, such as black carbon, snow grain, dust content, and water con tent on albedo is essential in obtaining an accurate albedo. In this paper, field measurement data, including snow grain size, density, liquid water content, and snow depth was obtained.Black carbon and dust samples were collected from the snow surface.A simultaneous observation using ASD(Analytical Spectral Devices)spectral data was employed in the Qiyi glacier located on Qilian Mountain. The measurements were compared with results obtained from the Snow,Ice,and Aerosol Radiation(SNICAR)model.Additionally,a HYbrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory(HYSPLIT)air mass backward trajectory model was used to track the source of black carbon. The simulation was found to correlate well with observed data.Liquid water content was the most influential factor of albedo among the several influencing fac tors, followed by black carbon content and snow grain size. Finally, snow density change had the least toward albedo.HYSPLIT atmospheric trajectories model can only approximately show the source of black carbon and not clearly indicate the source region of black carbon.ZhongMing Guo NingLian Wang BaoShou Shen ZhuJun Gu HongBo Wu YuWei Wu AnAn Chen Xi Jiang 2020Research in Cold and Arid Regions2020,12,2:0
A direct spino-cortical circuit bypassing the thalamus modulates nociception显示文摘Nociceptive signals are usually transmitted to layer 4 neurons in somatosensory cortex via the spinothalamic-thalamocortical pathway. The layer 5 corticospinal neurons in sensorimotor cortex are reported to receive the output of neurons in superficial layers;and their descending axons innervate the spinal cord to regulate basic sensorimotor functions. Here,we show that a subset of layer 5 neurons receives spinal inputs through a direct spino-cortical circuit bypassing the thalamus, and thus define these neurons as spino-cortical recipient neurons(SCRNs).Morphological studies revealed that the branches from spinal ascending axons formed a kind of disciform structure with the descending axons from SCRNs in the basilar pontine nucleus(BPN).Electron microscopy and calcium imaging further confirmed that the axon terminals from spinal ascending neurons and SCRNs made functional synaptic contacts in the BPN,linking the ascending sensory pathway to the descending motor control pathway.Furthermore, behavioral tests indicated that the spino-cortical connection in the BPN was involved in nociceptive responses. In vivo calcium imaging showed that SCRNs responded to peripheral noxious stimuli faster than neighboring layer 4 cortical neurons in awake mice.Manipulating activities of SCRNs could modulate nociceptive behaviors. Therefore, this direct spino-cortical circuit represents a noncanonical pathway, allowing a fast sensory-motor transition of the brain in response to noxious stimuli.Bing Cai Dan Wu Hong Xie Yan Chen Huadong Wang Sen Jin Yuran Song Anan Li Shiqi Huang Sashuang Wang Yingjin Lu Lan Bao Fuqiang Xu Hui Gong Changlin Li Xu Zhang 2023Cell Research2023,33,10:0
Restoration of FMRP expression in adult V1 neurons rescues visual deficits in a mouse model of fragile X syndrome显示文摘Many people affected by fragile X syndrome(FXS)and autism spectrum disorders have sensory processing deficits, such as hypersensitivity to auditory, tactile, and visual stimuli.Like FXS in humans, loss of Fmr1 in rodents also cause sensory, behavioral, and cognitive deficits. However, the neural mechanisms underlying sensory impairment, especially vision impairment, remain unclear. It remains elusive whether the visual processing deficits originate from corrupted inputs, impaired perception in the primary sensory cortex,or altered integration in the higher cortex, and there is no effective treatment. In this study,we used a genetic knockout mouse model(Fmr1^(KO)),in vivo imaging, and behavioral measurements to show that the loss of Fmr1 impaired signal processing in the primary visual cortex(V1).Specifically,Fmr1^(KO) mice showed enhanced responses to low-intensity stimuli but normal responses to high-intensity stimuli. This abnormality was accompanied by enhancements in local network connectivity in V1 microcircuits and increased dendritic complexity of V1 neurons. These effects were ameliorated by the acute application of GABAA receptor activators, which enhanced the activity of inhibitory neurons,or by reintroducing Fmr1 gene expression in knockout V1 neurons in both juvenile and young-adult mice.Overall,V1 plays an important role in the visual abnormalities of Fmr1^(KO) mice and it could be possible to rescue the sensory disturbances in developed FXS and autism patients.Chaojuan Yang Yonglu Tian Feng Su Yangzhen Wang Mengna Liu Hongyi Wang Yaxuan Cui Peijiang Yuan Xiangning Li Anan Li Hui Gong Qingming Luo Desheng Zhu Peng Cao Yunbo Liu Xunli Wang Min-hua Luo Fuqiang Xu Wei Xiong Liecheng Wang Xiang-yao Li Chen Zhang 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,3:0
Elucidating Structures of Complex Organic Compounds Using a Machine Learning Model Based on the 13C NMR Chemical Shifts显示文摘We present a protocol that combines the support vector machine(SVM)model with accurate 13C chemical shift calculations at the xOPBE/6-311+G(2d,p)level of theory, denoted as SVM-M(i.e.,SVM for magnetic property). We show here that this SVM-M protocol is a versatile tool for identifying the structural and stereochemical assignment of complex organic compounds with high confidence.Of particular significance is that,by utilizing the dual role of the decision values in SVM,the present SVM-M protocol provides an accurate yet efficient solution to simultaneously handle the classification issue(i.e.,“is a given structure correct or incorrect?”)and the comparison-based problem(i.e.,“which structure is more likely to be correct or wrong among several candidate structures?”).A significantly high success rate has been reached(i.e.,∼100%on a set of 760 sample molecules with 1592813C chemical shifts),which makes the SVMM protocol a powerful tool for routine applications in structural and stereochemical assignments,as well as in detecting misassignments, for complex organic compounds, including natural products.Anan Wu Qing Ye Xiaowei Zhuang Qiwen Chen Jinkun Zhang Jianming Wu Xin Xu 2023Precision Chemistry2023,1,1:0
