| 2 | A New Indicator for Global Food Security Assessment: Harvested Area Rather Than Cropland Area显示文摘Cropland area has long been used as a key indicator of food security.However,grain yield is not solely controlled by the area of the cropland.Therefore,we proposed a new indicator to assess food security.Results show that from 1992 to 2004,the global cropland area increased by 840200 km^(2)(99.4%),but the grain yield increased only by 310 million t(29.1%);and from 2004 to 2015,the cropland area decreased by 39000 km^(2)(4.64%),but the grain yield increased by 370 million t(70.84%).This result showed that grain yield was not linearly correlated with cropland area,and delimiting the threshold of cropland protection may not guarantee food security.Combined with further correlation analysis,we found that the increase in the global grain yield was more closely related to the harvested area(R^(2)=0.94),which indicated that the harvested area is a more scientific and accurate indicator than cropland area in terms of guaranteeing food security.Therefore,if governments want to ensure the food security,they should choose a new and more accurate indicator:harvested area rather than cropland area. | SONG Fengjiao WANG Shijie BAI Xiaoyong WU Luhua WANG Jinfeng LI Chaojun CHEN Huan LUO Xuling XI Huipeng ZHANG Sirui LUO Guofeng YAN Mengqi ZHEN Qingqing | 2022 | Chinese Geographical Science2022,32,2: | 2 |
| 3 | Optimization of contact-mode triboelectric nanogeneration for high energy conversion efficiency显示文摘The rapid growth of flexible and wearable electronics makes it an urgent requirement to develop mobile and sustainable energy sources for these devices. Triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG) stands out for its outstanding performance. However, high output performance and energy conversion efficiency TENG still remains one of the most crucial barriers for practical applications. In this paper, we systematically analyze the relationship of maximum instantaneous output power and energy conversion efficiency with the material parameters, structural parameters and experimental parameters. Firstly, we obtain the explicit equations for the transferred charge, output voltage, output current and maximum instantaneous power from the contactmode model and governing equation. Then it is deeply studied how the material parameters, structure parameters and experimental condition can influence the output performance. Finally, the relationship of energy conversion efficiency with the TENG parameters is investigated to provide guidance for rational design of TENG. | 12 | Chromosome-level assembly and analysis of the Thymus genome provide insights into glandular secretory trichome formation and monoterpenoid biosynthesis in thyme显示文摘Thyme has medicinal and aromatic value because of its potent antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.However,the absence of a fully sequenced thyme genome limits functional genomic studies of Chinese native thymes.Thymus quinquecostatus Celak.,which contains large amounts of bioactive monoterpenes suchas thymol and carvacrol,is an important wild medicinal and aromatic plant in China.Monoterpenoids are abundant in glandular secretory trichomes.Here,high-fidelity and chromatin conformation capture technologies were used to assemble and annotate the T.quinquecostatus genome at the chromosome level.The 13 chromosomes of T.quinquecostatus had a total length of 528.66 Mb,a contig N50 of 8.06 Mb,and a BUSCO score of 97.34%.We found that T.quinquecostatus had experienced two whole-genome duplications,with the most recent event occurring4.34 million years ago.Deep analyses of the genome,in conjunction with comparative genomic,phylogenetic,transcriptomic,and metabonomic studies,uncovered many regulatory factors and genes related to monoterpenoids and glandular secretory trichome development.Genes encoding terpene synthase(TPS),cytochrome P450 monooxygenases(CYPs),short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase(SDR),R2R3-MYB,and homeodomain-leucine zipper(HD-ZIP)IV were among those present in the T.quinquecostatus genome.Notably,Tq02G002290.1(TqTPS1)was shown to encode the terpene synthase responsible for catalyzing production of the main monoterpene product g-terpinene from geranyl diphosphate(GPP).Our study provides significant insight into the mechanisms of glandular secretory trichome formation and monoterpenoid biosynthesis in thyme.This work will facilitate the development of molecular breeding tools to enhance the production of bioactive secondary metabolites in Lamiaceae. | Meiyu Sun Yanan Zhang Li Zhu Ningning Liu Hongtong Bai Guofeng Sun Jinzheng Zhang Lei Shi | 2022 | Plant Communications2022,3,6: | 0 |

| 14 | Influence of geometry on the thermal performance of water pit seasonal heat storages for solar district heating显示文摘The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of geometry on the thermal capacity and stratifications of a water pit heat storage for solar district heating.A TRNSYS component model for a truncated cone water pit was developed based on the coordinate transformation method and validated by experimental results from the water pit heat storage in Huangdicheng in 2018.The thermal performance of 26 water pits with different heights and side wall slopes was calculated for 10 consecutive years.It takes four to six years for the water pit to reach steady-state operation.The operation data from the tenth year was selected to evaluate the thermal performance of each configuration.The results show that because of the thermal insulation on top of the water pit,the height to diameter ratio of a water pit with minimum annual heat loss was always smaller than 1.0.The annual storage efficiency of a water pit increases with side wall slope due to the reduced side wall area.There is an almost linear increase in the thermal stratification number of a water pit with height.With an increase in the height,thermal stratification in water pits with a steeper slope increased more gradually than water pits with a lower slope.The findings in this paper are relevant for the design optimization of water pits as seasonal thermal energy storages. | Yakai Bai Ming Yang Jianhua Fan Xiaoxia Li Longfei Chen Guofeng Yuan Zhifeng Wang | 2021 | Building Simulation2021,14,3: | 0 |
