| 1 | Effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Hibiscus rosa sinensis Linn.leaves in experimental colitis in rats显示文摘Objective:To elucidate the ameliorative effect of liydrualcuholic extract of leaves of Hibiscus rosa sinensis(HRS) in acetic acid induced experimental colitis in male wistar rats.Methods: The animals were administered with 2 mL acetic acid(4%) via intra rectal.The animals were divided into various treatment groups(n=6).Prednisolone was used as standard drug and HRS was administered at a dose of 50,100 and 200 mg/kg p.o.The control group of animals received 1 mL of vehicle(distilled water).Ulcer area,ulcer index,spleen weight,colon weight to length ratio, macroscopic score,haemalological parameters,colonic superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione(GSH),myeloperoxidase(MPO),malondialdchyde(MDA),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNK- α), nitric oxide(NO) and histological changes were recorded after the treatment regimen of 11 days. Results:Intrarectal instillation of acetic acid caused enhanced ulcer area,ulcer index,spleen weight,colon weight to length ratio,colonic MPO,MDA,NO and TNF-α It caused significant decreased level of SOD and GSH.Pretreatment with HRS for 7 days exhibited significant effect in lowering of oxidative stress,colonic NO,TNF- α and elevation of SOD and GSH at a dose of 100 and 200 mg/kg in acetic acid induced colilis.Conclusions:The present investigation demonstrates HRS is of potent therapeutic value in the amelioration of expcrimenlal colilis in laboralory animals by inhibiting the proinflammatory mediator like NO and TNK-α. | Amit D Kandhare Kiran S Raygude Pinaki Ghosh Arvindkumar E Ghule Tejas P Gosavi Sachin L Badole Subhash L Bodhankar | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012，2，5： | 2 |
| 2 | In vitro antioxidant and antimicrobial activity cycloart-23-ene-3β,25-diol(B2) isolated from Pongamia pinnata(L.Pierre)显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the in-vitro antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of cvcloart-23- ene-3β,25-diol(called as B2) isolated from stem bark of Pongamia pinnata.Methods:In vitro antioxidant activity of B2 was determined by methods for determination of Dl’PH radical scavenging,reducing power,superoxide anion radical scavenging,hydroxyl radical scavenging, hydrogen peroxide scavenging,metal chelating and nitric oxide radical scavenging at the doses of 20.40.60.80 and 100μg/mL,respectively.3 -tocopherol with same concentration was used as a standard antioxidant.In vitro antimicrobial activity of B2 was determined by cup plate method in different concentration range of 10-100μg/mL.Results:The results indicated that dose dependent%reduction against DPPH radical,reducing power,superoxide anion radical scavenging,hydroxyl radical scavenging,metal chelating,hydrogen peroxide scavenging and nitric oxide radical scavenging by B2 andβ-tocopherol.Conclusions:It is concluded that cycloart 23-ene-3β,25 diol(B2) showed dose dependent antioxidant activity.B2 showed more DPPH radical scavenging,reducing power,superoxide scavenging,hydroxyl radical scavenging, metal chelating scavenging,hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging and nitric oxide radical scavenging activity thanβ-tocopherol and in case of antimicrobial activity B2 exhibited broad-spectrum activ ity against bacteria and strong activity against yeast type of fungi. | Sachin L Badole Anand A Zanwar Abhijeet N Khopade Subhash L Bodhankar | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011，4，11： | 2 |
