| 1 | Pollutant and Soil Types Influence Effectiveness of Soil-Applied Absorbents in Reducing Rice Plant Uptake of Persistent Organic Pollutants显示文摘Persistent organic pollutants(POPs) in soils are an environmental concern due to their long-term bioavailability, which could be reduced by adding adsorbents. However, testing of these adsorbents is necessary prior to widespread field application. The effects of three adsorbents, nano-organic montmorillonite, nano-organic silicon dioxide(SiO_2), and activated carbon, on hexachlorobenzene(HCB) and pentachlorobenzene(Pe CB) accumulation in rice(Oryza sativa L.) plants were tested in a greenhouse experiment using two soils, a Hydragric Acrisol(Ac) and a Gleyi-Stagnic Anthrosol(An). The bioconcentration factors(BCFs) of HCB and Pe CB to rice roots were 2.3–3.7 and 2.0–3.0 times those to rice shoots, respectively. The applications of the three adsorbents decreased HCB and Pe CB extractability in Ac, while only the application of activated carbon decreased their extractability in An. The bioavailability of HCB and Pe CB to rice plants in Ac was higher than that in An. In Ac, the applications of nano-organic SiO_2 and activated carbon decreased the BCF of HCB to rice roots by 16.1% and 26.8%, respectively, whereas only the application of activated carbon decreased the BCF of Pe CB to rice roots by 31.4%, compared to the control. In An, only the application of activated carbon decreased the BCFs of HCB and Pe CB to rice roots by 22.9% and 18.2%, respectively, compared to the control. However, the application of nano-organic montmorillonite inhibited rice growth in both soils. | 2 | Is liver biopsy still needed in children with chronic viral hepatitis?显示文摘Liver biopsy is a standard method used for obtaining liver tissue for histopathological evaluation. Since reliable serological and virological tests are currently available, liver biopsy is no longer needed for the etiological diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B and C. However, liver histology remains the gold standard as a prognostic tool, providing information about the liver disease progression(grading of necroinflammatory activity and staging of fibrosis) and serving clinicians in the management and therapeutic decisions. In general, histopathological evaluation is indicated before starting the antiviral treatment. Main limitations of the liver biopsy include its invasive and painful procedure, sampling errors and the inter- and intra-observer variability. In addition, indications for the liver biopsy in pediatric patients with chronic viral hepatitis were questioned recently, and efforts have been made toward the development of non-invasive methods as an alternative to the liver biopsy. The most commonly used methods are novel imaging studies(elastography) and combinations of biomarkers. However, to date, none of these tests was validated in children with chronic viral hepatitis. | 3 | MicroRNAs as emerging biomarkers and therapeutic targets for pancreatic cancer显示文摘Despite tremendous efforts from scientists and clinicians worldwide, pancreatic adenocarcinoma(PDAC) remains a deadly disease due to the lack of early diagnostic tools and reliable therapeutic approaches. Consequently, a majority of patients(80%) display an advanced disease that results in a low resection rate leading to an overall median survival of less than 6 months. Accordingly, robust markers for the early diagnosis and prognosis of pancreatic cancer, or markers indicative of survival and/or metastatic disease are des-perately needed to help alleviate the dismal prognosis of this cancer. In addition, the discovery of new therapeutic targets is mandatory to design effective treatments. | 4 | 含高钙和维生素D的强化奶能有效提高健康的绝经后的中国女性体内的维生素D水平并减少骨吸收显示文摘目的钙摄入水平低以及体内维生素D不足是导致亚洲女性罹患骨质疏松的危险因素。此项研究的目的是评估高钙维生素D强化牛奶(HCM)对健康的中国绝经后妇女的体内维生素D状态和骨吸收标志物进行干预的影响。方法本试验对象为55岁以上,绝经至少5年的女性。共有124名女性进行了总体健康状况和骨密度检查筛选。63名女性被随机分为对照组和试验组,试验组在12w内每日饮用两次高钙/维生素D强化奶(含900 mg钙、96 mg镁、2.4 mg锌和6.4μg维生素D)。2组分别在试验开始、试验2 w、8 w和12 w时测量血矿物质、25(OH)维生素D3和Ⅰ型胶原C端肽(CTX)水平。结果对照组女性平均年龄为63±4.6岁,高钙强化奶(HCM)组女性平均年龄为62±3.8岁。所测得的每日钙摄入量的基线值为HCM组260~482 mg,对照组为252~692 mg。12 w后HCM组的平均身体质量指数(BMI)显著降低(P<0.05)。HCM组的血25(OH)维生素D3水平显著提高(33.13~39.49 nmol/L),而对照组则维持不变(29.27~28.21 nmol/L)。HCM组的血CTX水平在0 w和2 w之间下降了25%,并保持不变直至第12w。从第2w开始HCM组和对照组相比血CTX水平就出现了显著差异(P<0.001)。结论通过饮用含高钙和维生素D的强化奶(HCM),在2至4w内能显著提高中国绝经妇女体内维生素D水平,并减少骨吸收破坏。如果长期持续地饮用含高钙和维生素D的强化奶(HCM),能减少骨吸收和骨量丢失的风险,从而减少患骨质疏松和由此引起骨折的风险。 | Marlena C Kruger PengCheng Ha Joanne M Todd Barbara Kuhn-Sherlock Linda M Schollum Jiliang Ma George Qin Edith Lau | 2013 | 中国骨质疏松杂志2013，19，2： | 2 |
