2Effect of supplementation of allicin on methanogenesis and ruminal microbial flora in Dorper crossbred ewes显示文摘Background: Garlic extracts have been reported to be effective in reducing methanogenesis. Related mechanisms are not well illustrated, however, and most studies have been conducted in vitro. This study investigates the effects of supplementary allicin(AL) in sheep diet on in vivo digestibility, rumen fermentation, and shifts of microbial flora.Methods: Two experiments were conducted using Dorper × thin-tailed Han crossbred ewes. In experiment 1,eighteen ewes(60.0 ± 1.73 kg BW) were randomly assigned for 29 days to either of two dietary treatments: a basal diet or the basal diet supplemented with 2.0 g AL/head?day to investigate supplementary AL on nutrient digestibility and methane emissions. In experiment 2, six ewes(65.2 ± 2.0 kg BW) with ruminal canulas were assigned to the same two dietary treatments as in experiment 1 for 42 days to investigate supplementary AL on ruminal fermentation and microbial flora. The methane emissions were determined using an open-circuit respirometry system and microbial assessment was done by q PCR of 16 S r RNA genes.Results: Supplementary AL increased the apparent digestibility of organic matter(P < 0.001), nitrogen(P = 0.006),neutral detergent fiber(P < 0.001), and acid detergent fiber(P = 0.002). Fecal nitrogen output was reduced(P = 0.001)but urinary nitrogen output was unaffected(P = 0.691), while nitrogen retention(P = 0.077) and nitrogen retention/nitrogen intake(P = 0.077) tended to increase. Supplementary AL decreased methane emissions scaled to metabolic bodyweight by 5.95 %(P = 0.007) and to digestible organic matter intake by 8.36 %(P = 0.009). Ruminal p H was unaffected(P = 0.601) while ammonia decreased(P = 0.024) and total volatile fatty acids increased(P = 0.024) in response to supplementary AL. Supplementary AL decreased the population of methanogens(P = 0.001) and tended to decrease that of protozoans(P = 0.097), but increased the populations of F. succinogenes(P < 0.001), R. flavefaciens(P = 0.001), and B. fibrisolvens(P = 0.001).Conclusions: Supplementation of AL at 2.0 g/head?day effectively enhanced OM, N, NDF, and ADF digestibility and reduced daily methane emissions(L/kg BW0.75) in ewes, probably by decreasing the population of ruminal protozoans and methanogens.Tao Ma Dandan Chen Yan Tu Naifeng Zhang Bingwen Si Kaidong Deng Qiyu Diao 2016Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2016,7,2:9
3Effect of Topography and Accessibility on Vegetation Dynamic Pattern in Mountain-hill Region显示文摘Knowledge of both vegetation distribution pattern and phenology changes is very important.Their complicated relationship with elevation and accessibility were explored through a geographically weighted regression(GWR) framework in Fujian province,China.The 16-day time series of 250 m Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI) dataset from 2000 to 2010 was applied.Wavelet transform method was adopted to decompose the original time series and construct the annual maximum EVI and amplitude of the annual phenological cycle(EVI).Candidate explaining factors included topographic conditions,accessibility variables and proportions of primary vegetation types.Results revealed very strong positive influence from parameters of elevation and accessibility to big rivers and negative effect from accessibility to resident on both maximum EVI and phenological magnitude through ordinary linear least square(OLS) regression analysis.GWR analysis revealed that spatially,the parameters of topography and accessibility had a very complex relationship with both maximum EVI and phenology magnitude,as a result of the various combinations of environmental factors,vegetation composition and also intensive anthropogenic impact.Apart from the continuously increasing trend of phenology magnitude with increasing altitude,the influence of topography and accessibility on maximum EVI and phenological magnitude generally decreased,even from strongly positive to negative,with increasing altitude or distance.Specially,the most rapid change of correlation coefficient between them was observed within a low elevation or close distance;less variation was discovered within a certain range of medium altitude or distance and their relationship might change above this range.Non-stationary approaches are needed to better characterize the complex vegetation dynamic pattern in Mountain-hill Region.QIU Bingwen ZHONG Ming ZENG Canying TANG Zhenghong CHEN Chongcheng 2012Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,6:8

6Site type classification for the shelter-forest ecological project along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘Site types of the afforestation region of the shelter-forest ecological project along the Tarim Desert Highway were classified based on the natural conditions and windblown sand damages. The extremely severe environment, the irrigation with saline water, and large-scale linear project makes this classification of site types most unique and significant. It adopted a three-level classification system integrating the dominant factors and restrictive factors in regard to their impacts on plant survival and growth as well as on the protective property. Six site type districts were classified based on the medium-scale geomorphic unit, the windblown sand damages, and the major production facilities; 21 site type groups were obtained according to the small-scale geomorphic type, terrain, and wind regime; 36 site types were further classified based on the salt contents of the underground water and soil types. Especially, in this study, spatial distribution of the six site type districts along the desert highway is continuous, which is unique and different from that of most other classifications. In addition, the salt-stress tolerance threshold of the main afforestation plant species to underground water have been set to 8 g/L and 15 g/L according to selective breeding tests and the salinity spatial distribution of the underground water. 7Spatiotemporal variability of vegetation phenology with reference to altitude and climate in the subtropical mountain and hill region, China显示文摘Understanding the seasonal behaviour of a subtropical forest and its inter-annual variation is crucial to understanding and monitoring its ecosystem function in the context of global warming. Based on the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Enhanced Vegetation Index dataset, a wavelet transform method was used to investigate the inter-annual variations of vegetation phenology in a subtropical mountain and hill region in Fujian, China, during 2001-2010. The results show a distinct inter-annual variation of vegetation phenology related to climate variability even if most areas presented non-significant trends. The start dates significantly advanced and end dates delayed in 2003 and 2008, due to anomalously warm conditions. There was generally a gradient of increasing start dates, and earlier end dates of vegetation growing season, due to colder temperatures at higher altitudes. However, the altitudinal phenology relationship also depends on its corresponding rainfall conditions. Earlier start dates were observed at higher altitudes during rainfall deficit years such as 2008, which coincides with relatively abundant rainfall at higher altitudes. 8Effects of protein sources for milk replacers on growth performance and serum biochemical indexes of suckling calves显示文摘This study investigated the effects of protein sources for milk replacers on growth performance and serum biochemical indexes of suckling calves. Fifty Chinese Holstein bull calves with similar BW and age were randomly allocated to 5 groups(1 control and 4 treatments) of 10 calves in each group. Five types of milk replacers were designed to have the same level of energy and protein. The protein source for milk replacers of the control group was full milk protein(MP). The protein source of milk replacers of the 4 treatment groups was composed of MP and one vegetable protein(VP)(30 and 70% of total protein). The4 types of VP were soybean protein concentrate(SP), hydrolyzed wheat protein(WP), peanut protein concentrate(PP), and rice protein isolate(RP). Results of the experiment showed: 1) there was no significant difference on average daily gain(ADG) and feed:gain ratio(F:G) among the MP, SP and RP groups(P > 0.05), whereas the ADG and F:G of the WP and PP groups were significantly lower compared with the MP group(P < 0.05); 2) there was not a significant difference in withers height, body length and heart girth among treatment groups compared with the MP group(P > 0.05). Thereby the 4 VP milk replacers had no adverse effects on body size of calves; 3) all groups showed no significant difference in the serum contents of urea nitrogen, total protein, albumin, globulin, β-hydroxybutyrate, growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor-1, and the ratio of albumin to globulin(A:G)(P> 0.05). 11Effect of Lingqi Huangban granule plus intravitreal ranibizumab on macular edema induced by retinal vein occlusion: a randomized controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Lingqi Huangban granule(LQHB) plus intravitreal ranibizumab in the treatment of macular edema(ME) induced by retinal vein occlusion(RVO).METHODS: A prospective, randomized controlled study was conducted. A total of 60 subjects with RVO induced ME were randomized into control group(CG)(30 eyes) and LQHB group(LQHBG)(30 eyes). CG patients underwent intravitreal ranibizumab(IVR) injections. LQHBG patients were treated with oral LQHB combined with IVR injections. In order to reduce the financial burden of the injections, we used one injection and pro re nata(PRN)regimen for both groups. The best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA), central macular thickness(CMT), and mean number of injections were evaluated at the beginning of treatment and 3, 6, 9 and 12 months afterward. All the subjects were followed up for 1 year.RESULTS: At the beginning of treatment, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of the general condition of patients(P > 0.05). At 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after treatment, however, the BCVA scores improved and the CMT measurements decreased in all patients(P < 0.05), with the improvement of LQHBG significantly greater than that of CG(P <0.05). The mean numbers of ranibizumab injections were 1.8 ± 0.3 in LQHBG and 2.3 ± 0.6 in CG, respectively(P < 0.05). No adverse events were reported in both groups.CONCLUSION: LQHB plus intravitreal ranibizumab could be a much more effective and economic treatment for stabilizing and improving vision with fewer intravitreal injections in the treatment of RVO induced ME. 12Assessment for Social Security Pilot in Jilin and Hei Longjiang of China显示文摘The present paper reviews the social security pilot in Jilin and Hei Longjiang that was carried out between 2004 and 2005. The pilot in the two provinces has basically achieved its main objectives, but there are still some unsolved problems, the most severe being lack of effective investment of the funds accumulated by individual accounts. During periods of high economic growth and high growth in average wages, this problem might undermine the partially-funded security system. 13One-Pot Synthesis of Co-Based Coordination Polymer Nanowire for Li-Ion Batteries with Great Capacity and Stable Cycling Stability显示文摘Nanowire coordination polymer cobalt–terephthalonitrile(Co-BDCN) was successfully synthesized using a simple solvothermal method and applied as anode material for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs). A reversible capacity of 1132 mAh g^(-1) was retained after 100 cycles at a rate of 100 mAg^(-1), which should be one of the best LIBs performances among metal organic frameworks and coordination polymers-based anode materials at such a rate. 14Institutional Root Cause of the Irregularity of Social Security Funds in China显示文摘This paper analyzes institutional defects in the Chinese social security system, based on irregularities in social security funds revealed in the Audit Report by the China National Audit Office. The author divides the irregularities into five categories according to the nature of fund use. The results show that the institutional root cause of the irregularities lies in the unreasonable design and operation of the social security system, which currently faces management and institutional risks. This paper argues that simple rhetoric about strengthening regulation and supervision cannot help to reduce illegal practices, or to realize risk control. The only solution is to reform the social security system. Specifically, the Chinese Government should regulate the administrative cost of the social security system, and the behavior of its agencies, through legislation, reform the investment regime to increase rate of return of pension assets, and adjust and reshape the existing social security system, so as to elevate its pooling level.Bingwen Zheng 2007China & World Economy2007,15,5:2
15Radiotherapy-induced heart disease:a review of the literature显示文摘Radiotherapy as one of the four pillars of cancer therapy plays a critical role in the multimodal treatment of thoracic cancers.Due to significant improvements in overall cancer survival,radiotherapy-induced heart disease(RIHD)has become an increasingly recognized adverse reaction which contributes to major radiationassociated toxicities including non-malignant death.This is especially relevant for patients suffering from diseases with excellent prognosis such as breast cancer or Hodgkin’s lymphoma,since RIHD may occur decades after radiotherapy.Preclinical studies have enriched our knowledge of many potential mechanisms by which thoracic radiotherapy induces heart injury.Epidemiological findings in humans reveal that irradiation might increase the risk of cardiac disease at even lower doses than previously assumed.Recent preclinical studies have identified non-invasive methods for evaluation of RIHD.Furthermore,potential options preventing or at least attenuating RIHD have been developed.Ongoing research may enrich our limited knowledge about biological mechanisms of RIHD,identify non-invasive early detection biomarkers and investigate potential treatment options that might attenuate or prevent these unwanted side effects.Here,we present a comprehensive review about the published literature regarding clinical manifestation and pathological alterations in RIHD.Biological mechanisms and treatment options are outlined,and challenges in RIHD treatment are summarized.Bingwen Zou Julius Philipp Schuster Kerun Niu Qianyi Huang Alexander Rühle Peter Ernst Huber 2019Precision Clinical Medicine2019,2,4:2
16Isolation and characterization of AHL-degrading bacteria from fish and pond sediment显示文摘Quorum sensing (QS) disruption is considered as a potential alternative strategy to combat bacterial diseases in aquaculture. In this study, we isolated and identified bacteria degrading QS molecules from pond sediment and fish intestine. A total of 132 strains were obtained in the enrichment culture, of which two strains were identified as Enterobacter sp. f003 and Staphylococcus sp. sw120, being isolated from the fish intestine and pond sediment, respectively. We found that strains f003 and sw120 could degrade acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs) and cause no hemolysis of sheep red blood cells. The AHL lactonase (aiiA) homologous gene in the two strains was detected in PCR amplification and the high-degrading activity to N-hexanoyl-L-homoserine lactone (C6-HSL) and AHLs secreted from pathogenic Aeromonas hydrophila was assessed. Meanwhile, the artificial infection of cyprinid Carassius auratus gibelio with intraperitoneal injection showed that the two strains were avirulent.
