1Facial expression recognition based on fusion of extended LDP and Gabor features显示文摘The local directional pattern(LDP) is unsusceptible to random noise which is widely used in texture extraction of face region. LDP cannot encode the central pixel thus the important information will be lost. Thus a new feature descriptor called extended local directional pattern(ELDP) is proposed for face extraction. First,the mean value of the eight directional edge response values and the gray value of center pixel are calculated. Second,the mean value is taken as the threshold. Then,the expression image is encoded using nine encoded values. In order to reduce redundant information and get more effective information,the Gabor filter is used to obtain the multidirection Gabor magnitude maps(GMMs),and then the ELDP is used to encode the GMMs. Finally,support vector machine(SVM) is applied to classify and recognize facial expression. 2Olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions of COVID-19 patients in China:A multicenter study显示文摘Introduction:With the spread of the epidemic worldwide,an increasing number of doctors abroad have observed the following atypical symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19):olfactory or taste disorders.Therefore,clarifying the incidence and clinical characteristics of olfactory and taste disorders in Chinese COVID-19 patients is of great significance and urgency.Materials and Methods:A retrospective study was conducted,which included 229 severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 confirmed patients,through face-to-face interviews and telephone follow-up.Following the completion of questionnaires,the patients participating in the study,were categorized according to the degree of olfactory and taste disorders experienced,and the proportion of each clinical type of patient with olfactory and taste disorders and the time when symptoms appeared were recorded.Results:Among the 229 patients,31(13.54%)had olfactory dysfunction,and 44(19.21%)had gustatory dysfunction.For the patients with olfactory dysfunction,6(19.35%)developed severe disease and became critically ill.Olfactory dysfunction appeared before the other symptoms in 21.43%of cases.The proportion of females with olfactory and gustatory dysfunction was higher than that of males(P<0.001).Conclusions:The incidence of olfactory and gustatory dysfunction was much lower than that reported abroad;the prognosis of patients with olfactory dysfunction is relatively favorable;olfactory and gustatory dysfunction can be used as a sign for early screening;females are more prone to olfactory and gustatory dysfunction.Jianhui Li Yi Sun Enqiang Qin Hu Yuan Mingbo Liu Wenqi Yi Zhu Chen Chengcheng Huang Fengjie Zhou Ruiyao Chen Leibo Zhang Ning Yu Qiong Liu Xuejun Zhou Jingjing He Boyu Li Fusheng Wang Changliang Yang Shiming Yang 2022World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2022,8,4:2

7Extraction algorithm for longitudinal and transverse mechanical information of AFM显示文摘The atomic force microscope(AFM)can measure nanoscale morphology and mechanical properties and has a wide range of applications.The traditional method for measuring the mechanical properties of a sample does so for the longitudinal and transverse properties separately,ignoring the coupling between them.In this paper,a data processing and multidimensional mechanical information extraction algorithm for the composite mode of peak force tapping and torsional resonance is proposed.On the basis of a tip–sample interaction model for the AFM,longitudinal peak force data are used to decouple amplitude and phase data of transverse torsional resonance,accurately identify the tip–sample longitudinal contact force in each peak force cycle,and synchronously obtain the corresponding characteristic images of the transverse amplitude and phase.Experimental results show that the measured longitudinal mechanical characteristics are consistent with the transverse amplitude and phase characteristics,which verifies the effectiveness of the method.Thus,a new method is provided for the measurement of multidimensional mechanical characteristics using the AFM.Chunxue Hao Shoujin Wang Shuai Yuan Boyu Wu Peng Yu Jialin Shi 2022Nanotechnology and Precision Engineering2022,5,2:0
8A novel investigation on the influence of Cu-P modifier on the,microstructure,mechanical performance,and melting process of Al-50Si alloys treated by overheating显示文摘As an efficient modifier,phosphorus(P)can significantly reduce the size of primary silicon(Si)crystals.However,modifier can aggregate when the P content exceeds a certain proportion,which decreases refining efficiency.In this study,the evolution of microstructures and mechanical properties of Al-50Si alloy have been studied by combining superheating and modification treatments.After modification,the mean size of the primary Si phase increased with superheating temperature,while the hardness decreased with increased superheating.Although the alloy was in an over-modified state when the modified content was 7 wt%,the overall alloy hardness was the highest Nanoindentation tests were used to examine the mechanical properties of each alloy phase and the results showed that the nano-hardness of AI2CU phase was 5.52 GPa,three times that of an A1 matrix,and was considered to be the reason for increased alloy hardness after over-modification.This phenomenon indicated that,except for size and distribution of the primary Si phase,intermetallic compounds,such as AI2CU,also played important roles in modifying alloy mechanical properties.The alloy melting process was observed in-situ using a laser confocal high-temperature scanning microscope and results indicated that the melting temperature of a-Al decreased with increased matrix Cu content.A model for calculating distortion energy was proposed and its rationality verified.Calculation results showed that,with increased matrix Cu content,the distortion energy gradually increased,which was the main reason for decreased matrix melting temperature.Moreover,the existence of distortion energy was verified using the EBSD method.Tao Jiang Chuang Yu Boyue Xu Wei Yu Guangming Xu Yong Li Zhaodong Wang Guodong Wang 2021Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2021,31,3:0
9Pharmacokinetics of gene recombined angiogenesis inhibitor Kringle 5 in vivo using 131I specific markers and SPECT/CT显示文摘The previous pharmacokinetic methods can be only limited to drug analysis in vitro, which provide less information on the distribution and metabolismof drugs, and limit the interpretation and assessment of pharmacokinetics, the determination of metabolic principles, and evaluation of treatment effect. The objective of the study was to investigate the pharmacokinetic characteristics of gene recombination angiogenesis inhibitor Kringle 5 in vivo. The SPECT/CT and specific^(131)I-Kringle 5 marked by Iodogen method were both applied to explore the pharmacokinetic characteristics of^(131)I-Kringle 5 in vivo, and to investigate the dynamic distributions of^(131)I-Kringle 5 in target organs. Labeling recombinant angiogenesis inhibitor Kringle 5 using131 I with longer half-life and imaging in vivo using SPECT instead of PET,could overcome the limitations of previous methods. When the doses of^(131)I-Kringle 5 were 10.0, 7.5 and5.0 g/kg, respectively, the two-compartment open models can be determined within all the metabolic process in vivo. There were no significant differences in t1/2α, t1/2β, apparent volume of distribution and CL between those three levels. The ratio of AUC(0 1)among three different groups of 10.0, 7.5 and 5.0 g/kg was 2.56:1.44:1.0, which was close to the ratio(2:1.5:1.0). It could be clear that in the range of 5.0–10.0 g/kg, Kringle 5 was characterized by the first-order pharmacokinetics. Approximately 30 min after^(131)I-Kringle 5 was injected,^(131)I-Kringle 5 could be observed to concentrate in the heart, kidneys, liver and other organs by means of planar imaging and tomography. After 1 h of being injected, more radionuclide retained in the bladder, but not in intestinal. It could be concluded that^(131)I-Kringle 5 is mainly excreted through the kidneys. About 2 h after the injection of^(131)I-Kringle 5, the radionuclide in the heart, kidneys,liver and other organs was gradually reduced, while more radionuclide was concentrated in the bladder.The radionuclide was completely metabolized within 24 h, and the distribution of radioactivity in rats was similar to normal levels. In our study, the specific marker^(131)I-Kringle 5 and SPECT/CT were successfully used to explore pharmacokinetic characteristics of Kringle 5 in rats. 10Nanomaterials with dual immunomodulatory functions for synergistic therapy of breast cancer brain metastases显示文摘A long-standing paucity of effective therapies results in the poor outcomes of triple-negative breast cancer brain metastases.Immunotherapy has made progress in the treatment of tumors,but limited by the non-immunogenicity of tumors and strong immunosuppressive environment,patients with TNBC brain metastases have not yet benefited from immunotherapy.Dual immunoregulatory strategies with enhanced immune activation and reversal of the immunosuppressive microenvironment provide new therapeutic options for patients.Here,we propose a cocktail-like therapeutic strategy of microenvironment regulation-chemotherapy-immune synergistic sensitization and construct reduction-sensitive immune microenvironment regulation nanomaterials(SIL@T).SIL@T modified with targeting peptide penetrates the BBB and is subsequently internalized into metastatic breast cancer cells,releasing silybin and oxaliplatin responsively in the cells.SIL@T preferentially accumulates at the metastatic site and can significantly prolong the survival period of model animals.Mechanistic studies have shown that SIL@T can effectively induce immunogenic cell death of metastatic cells,activate immune responses and increase infiltration of CD8+T cells.Meanwhile,the activation of STAT3 in the metastatic foci is attenuated and the immunosuppressive microenvironment is reversed.This study demonstrates that SIL@T with dual immunomodulatory functions provides a promising immune synergistic therapy strategy for breast cancer brain metastases.Zhenhao Zhao Chufeng Li Yiwen Zhang Chao Li Yongchao Chu Xuwen Li Peixin Liu Hongyi Chen Yu Wang Boyu Su Qinjun Chen Tao Sun Chen Jiang 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,9:0

12An estimation framework of regional rooftop photovoltaic potential based on satellite remote sensing images显示文摘This paper proposes a comprehensive framework for estimating the regional rooftop photovoltaic(PV)potential.The required rooftop information is extracted from Gao Fen-7 satellite images.In particular,the rooftop area is obtained using a semantic segmentation network.The azimuth and inclination angles are calculated based on the digital surface model.In addition,to improve the accuracy of the economic evaluation,buildings are divided into commercial and industrial buildings and residential buildings.Based on the difference in the roof inclination,the rooftops can be divided into flat roofs,on which the PV panels are installed with the optimal inclination angle,and sloped rooftops,on which the PV panels are installed in a lay-flat manner.The solar irradiation on the plane-of-array is calculated using the isotropic sky translocation model.Then,the available installed capacity and generation potential of the rooftop PV is obtained.Finally,the net present value,dynamic payback period,and internal rate of return are used to evaluate the economic efficiency of the rooftop PV project.The proposed framework is applied in the Da Xing district of Beijing,China,with a total area of 546.84 km^(2).The results show that the rooftop area and available installed capacity of PV are 25.63 km^(2)and 1487.45 MWp,respectively.The annual rooftop PV generation potential is 2832.23 GWh,with significant economic returns.Boyu Chen Yanbo Che Jingkai Wang Hongfeng Li Linjun Yu Dacheng Wang 2022Global Energy Interconnection2022,5,3:0

14A neutrophil-biomimic platform for eradicating metastatic breast cancer stem-like cells by redox microenvironment modulation and hypoxia-triggered differentiation therapy显示文摘Metastasis accounts for 90%of breast cancer deaths,where the lethality could be attributed to the poor drug accumulation at the metastatic loci.The tolerance to chemotherapy induced by breast cancer stem cells(BCSCs)and their particular redox microenvironment further aggravate the therapeutic dilemma.To be specific,therapy-resistant BCSCs can differentiate into heterogeneous tumor cells constantly,and simultaneously dynamic maintenance of redox homeostasis promote tumor cells to retro-differentiate into stem-like state in response to cytotoxic chemotherapy.Herein,we develop a specifically-designed biomimic platform employing neutrophil membrane as shell to inherit a neutrophil-like tumor-targeting capability,and anchored chemotherapeutic and BCSCs-differentiating reagents with nitroimidazole(NI)to yield two hypoxia-responsive prodrugs,which could be encapsulated into a polymeric nitroimidazole core.The platform can actively target the lung metastasis sites of triple negative breast cancer(TNBC),and release the escorted drugs upon being triggered by the hypoxia microenvironment.During the responsiveness,the differentiating agent could promote transferring BCSCs into non-BCSCs,and simultaneously the nitroimidazole moieties conjugated on the polymer and prodrugs could modulate the tumor microenvironment by depleting nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate hydrogen(NADPH)and amplifying intracellular oxidative stress to prevent tumor cells retro-differentiation into BCSCs.In combination,the BCSCs differentiation and tumor microenvironment modulation synergistically could enhance the chemotherapeutic cytotoxicity,and remarkably suppress tumor growth and lung metastasis.Hopefully,this work can provide a new insight in to comprehensively treat TNBC and lung metastasis using a versatile platform.Yongchao Chu Yifan Luo Boyu Su Chao Li Qin Guo Yiwen Zhang Peixin Liu Hongyi Chen Zhenhao Zhao Zheng Zhou Yu Wang Chen Jiang Tao Sun 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,1:0
15The impact of COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Hong Kong SAR China and Singapore显示文摘Background:Vaccination has been the most important measure to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic.The vaccination coverage was relatively low in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region China,compared to Singapore,in early 2022.Hypothetically,if the two regions,Hong Kong(HK)and Singapore(SG),swap their vaccination coverage rate,what outcome would occur?Method:We adopt the Susceptible e Vaccinated e Exposed e Infectious e Hospitalized e Death-Recovered model with a time-varying transmission rate and fit the model to weekly reported COVID-19 deaths(the data up to 2022 Nov 4)in HK and SG using R package POMP.After we obtain a reasonable fitting,we rerun our model with the estimated parameter values and swap the vaccination rates between HK and SG to explore what would happen.Results:Our model fits the data well.The reconstructed transmission rate was higher in HK than in SG in 2022.With a higher vaccination rate as in SG,the death total reported in HK would decrease by 37.5%and the timing of the peak would delay by 3 weeks.With a lower vaccination rate as in HK,the death total reported in SG would increase to 5.5-fold high with a peak 6 weeks earlier than the actual during the Delta variant period.Conclusions:Vaccination rate changes in HK and SG may lead to very different outcomes.This is likely due that the estimated transmission rates were very different in HK and SG which reflect the different control policies and dominant variants.Because of strong control measures,HK avoided large-scale community transmission of the Delta variant.Given the high breakthrough infection rate and transmission rate of the Omicron variant,increasing the vaccination rate in HK will likely yield a mild(but significant)contribution in terms of lives saved.While in SG,lower vaccination coverage to the level of HK will be disastrous.Boyu Yu Qiong Li Jing Chen Daihai He 2023Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,1:0
