3Coherent interaction of atoms with a beam of light confined in a light cage显示文摘Controlling coherent interaction between optical fields and quantum systems in scalable,integrated platforms is essential for quantum technologies.Miniaturised,warm alkali-vapour cells integrated with on-chip photonic devices represent an attractive system,in particular for delay or storage of a single-photon quantum state.Hollow-core fibres or planar waveguides are widely used to confine light over long distances enhancing light-matter interaction in atomic-vapour cells.However,they suffer from inefficient filling times,enhanced dephasing for atoms near the surfaces,and limited light-matter overlap.We report here on the observation of modified electromagnetically induced transparency for a non-diffractive beam of light in an on-chip,laterally-accessible hollow-core light cage.Atomic layer deposition of an alumina nanofilm onto the light-cage structure was utilised to precisely tune the high-transmission spectral region of the light-cage mode to the operation wavelength of the atomic transition,while additionally protecting the polymer against the corrosive alkali vapour.The experiments show strong,coherent light-matter coupling over lengths substantially exceeding the Rayleigh range.Additionally,the stable non-degrading performance and extreme versatility of the light cage provide an excellent basis for a manifold of quantum-storage and quantumnonlinear applications,highlighting it as a compelling candidate for all-on-chip,integrable,low-cost,vapour-based photon delay.Flavie Davidson-Marquis Julian Gargiulo Esteban Gómez-López Bumjoon Jang Tim Kroh Chris Müller Mario Ziegler Stefan A.Maier Harald Kübler Markus A.Schmidt Oliver Benson 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,7:1

14Effects of Flexible Conjugation-Break Spacers of Non-Conjugated Polymer Acceptors on Photovoltaic and Mechanical Properties of All-Polymer Solar Cells显示文摘All-polymer solar cells(all-PSCs)possess attractive merits including superior thermal stability and mechanical flexibility for large-area roll-to-roll processing.Introducing flexible conjugation-break spacers(FCBSs)into backbones of polymer donor(P_(D))or polymer acceptor(P_(A))has been demonstrated as an efficient approach to enhance both the photovoltaic(PV)and mechanical properties of the all-PSCs.However,length dependency of FCBS on certain all-PSC related properties has not been systematically explored.In this regard,we report a series of new non-conjugated P_(A)s by incorporating FCBS with various lengths(2,4,and 8 carbon atoms in thioalkyl segments).Unlike com-mon studies on so-called side-chain engineering,where longer side chains would lead to better solubility of those resulting polymers,in this work,we observe that the solubilities and the resulting photovoltaic/mechanical properties are optimized by a proper FCBS length(i.e.,C2)in P_(A) named PYTS-C2.Its all-PSC achieves a high efficiency of 11.37%,and excellent mechanical robustness with a crack onset strain of 12.39%,significantly superior to those of the other P_(A)s.These results firstly demonstrate the effects of FCBS lengths on the PV performance and mechanical properties of the all-PSCs,providing an effective strategy to fine-tune the structures of P_(A)s for highly efficient and mechanically robust PSCs.Qiaonan Chen Yung Hee Han Leandro R.Franco Cleber F.N.Marchiori Zewdneh Genene CMoyses Araujo Jin-Woo Lee Tan Ngoc-Lan Phan Jingnan Wu Donghong Yu Dong Jun Kim Taek-Soo Kim Lintao Hou Bumjoon J.Kim Ergang Wang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,10:1

18Aqueous-processable,naphthalene diimide-based polymers for eco-friendly fabrication of high-performance,n-type organic electrolyte-gated transistors显示文摘Organic electrolyte-gated transistors(OEGTs) have the benefits of low power consumption and large current modulation.Nevertheless,the electrical performance of n-type OEGTs lags far behind that of p-type OEGTs.In this study,we design a series of polymers,P(NDITEG-T) and P(NDIMTEG-T),comprising a naphthalene diimide backbone for n-type charge transport and oligo(ethylene glycol)(OEG) side chains for high ionic conductivity and eco-friendly solution processing.The incorporation of the OEG chain facilitates the electrochemical doping of the semiconductor by ions to realize high-performance,n-type OEGTs.Notably,in OEGTs,P(NDITEG-T) achieves a high electron mobility of 1.0 × 10^(-1) cm^(2) V^(-1) s^(-1),which represents the highest value reported for solution-processed,n-type OEGTs.It is noted that the fabrication of the OEGTs is achieved by solution processing with eco-friendly ethanol/water mixtures in virtue of the hydrophilic OEG chains.This work demonstrates the molecular design of the P(NDITEG-T) polymer and its significant ability to produce aqueous-processable,high-performance,and n-type OEGTs.Dahyun Jeong Min Je Kim Seungjin Lee Jin-Woo Lee Youngwoong Kim Hyeong Jun Kim Jeong Ho Cho Bumjoon J.Kim 2022Science China Chemistry2022,65,5:0
19Polymersome formation by solvent annealing-induced structural reengineering under 3D soft confinement显示文摘A solvent annealing-induced structural reengineering approach is exploited to fabricate polymersomes from block copolymers that are hard to form vesicles through the traditional solution self-assembly route.More specifically,polystyrene-b-poly(4-vinyl pyridine)(PS-b-P4VP)particles with sphere-within-sphere structure(SS particles)are prepared by three-dimensional(3D)soft-confined assembly through emulsion-solvent evaporation,followed by 3D soft-confined solvent annealing upon the SS particles in aqueous dispersions for structural engineering.A water-miscible solvent(e.g.,THF)is employed for annealing,which results in dramatic transitions of the assemblies,e.g.,from SS particles to polymersomes.This approach works for PS-b-P4VP in a wide range of block ratios.Moreover,this method enables effective encapsulation/loading of cargoes such as fluorescent dyes and metal nanoparticles,which offers a new route to prepare polymersomes that could be applied for cargo release,diagnostic imaging,and nanoreactor,etc.Xi Mao Hao Li Jinwoo Kim Shuai Deng Renhua Deng Bumjoon J.Kim Jintao Zhu 2021Nano Research2021,14,12:0
20Revisiting the Bithiophene Imide-Based Polymer Donors: Molecular Aggregation and Orientation Control Enabling New Polymer Donors for High-Performance All-Polymer Solar Cells显示文摘Bithiophene imide (BTI)-based polymers have been promising photovoltaic materials due to their high mobility and tunable energy levels. However, BTI polymers have rarely been revisited since organic solar cells (OSCs) entered the era of non-fullerene electron acceptors (NFEA) likely owing to their incompatibility with NFEAs. Herein, fine-tuning the aggregation and orientation of BTI-based donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) polymer donors was achieved by incorporating the linear n-octyl group into thiophene π-bridge. The resulting polymer donor G15 shows excellent compatibility with NFEA L15 (polymer acceptor). The G15-based all-polymer OSCs achieve high power conversion efficiency of 15.17%. This is significantly higher than that (< 5%) of its analogue with isomerized branched alkyl chains and also among the highest values for all-polymer OSCs.
