| 1 | Suppression or knockout of SaF/SaM overcomes the Sa-mediated hybrid male sterility in rice显示文摘Hybrids between the indica and japonica subspecies of rice(Oryza sativa) are usually sterile, which hinders utilization of heterosis in the inter-subspecific hybrid breeding. The complex locus Sa comprises two adjacently located genes, SaF and SaM, which interact to cause abortion of pollen grains carrying the japonica allele in japonica-indica hybrids. Here we showed that silencing of SaF or SaM by RNA interference restored male fertility in indica-japonica hybrids with heterozygous Sa. We further used clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/Cas9-based genome editing to knockout the SaF and SaM alleles, respectively, of an indica rice line to create hybrid-compatible lines. The resultant artificial neutral alleles did not affect pollen viability and other agricultural traits, but did break down the reproductive barrier in the hybrids. We found that some rice lines have natural neutral allele Sa-n, which was compatible with the typical japonica or indica Sa alleles in hybrids. Our results demonstrate that SaF and SaM are required for hybrid male sterility, but are not essential for pollen development. | 2 | An eigenstructure-based 2D DOA estimation method using dual-size spatial invariance array显示文摘A sparse planar array vertically placed in y-z plane is proposed to improve the angle estimation accuracy of sources in low angle region with reflection multipath.With two sizes of spatial invariances along both dimensions,the array estimates the azimuth and elevation angles using unitary ESPRIT(estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques).The first spatial invariance with a displacement of half-wavelength yields unambiguous coarse estimates of high-variance,while the second spatial invariance with much larger a displacement of subarrays obtains cyclically ambiguous fine estimates of low-variance.The final estimates are obtained by disambiguating fine estimates with coarse estimates.A novel pairing scheme is proposed to pair both the azimuth and elevation,coarse and fine angle estimates of the same signal.In addition, a new method is presented to calculate 2D angles,which substitutes the estimated elevation angle into the sin relative to the y-axis to get the azimuth angle.Employing real-valued processing and array aperture extension, the new DOA measuring method de-correlates the multipath signals and enhances angle resolution with no extra antennas and computational complexity.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique and its advantages over the conventional methods. | YANG XueYa CHEN BaiXiao CHEN YunHai | 2011 | Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,1: | 9 |
| 3 | Direction synthesis in DOA estimation for monostatic multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar based on synthetic impulse and aperture radar (SIAR) and its performance analysis显示文摘A new direction synthetic method for monostatic multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar is presented based on synthetic impulse and aperture radar (SIAR) system. Concerned with the monostatic MIMO radar which simultaneously emits orthogonal signals with multi-carrier-frequency and possesses sparsely distributed transmitting and receiving arrays with respective location, as well as the situation for the presence of multipath propagation in the low flying target’s echo, the method integrates the aperture of the transmitting arrays with the receiving arrays to form the digital beam-forming (DBF) in azimuth and elevation dimensions. And a study has been made of planar general MUSIC algorithm based on decorrelating the multipath signals of multi-carrier-frequency MIMO radar. Through compensat-ing the phase delay of both the transmitting and the receiving arrays and synthe-sizing the transmitting beam in two dimensions at the receiver, the angular resolu-tion and measurement accuracy are improved and the computational complexity is reduced after transforming the three-dimensional (3D) parameter estimation prob-lem into a two-dimensional (2D) one. Finally, the Cramer-Rao Bounds (CRBs) of DOA estimation for azimuth and elevation is put forward with the exsiting multipath propagation. | 4 | The maternally expressed polycomb group gene OsEMF2a is essential for endosperm cellularization and imprinting in rice显示文摘Cellularization is a key event in endosperm development.Polycomb group(PcG)genes,such as Fertilization-Independent Seed 2(FIS2),are vital for the syncytium-to-cellularization transition in Arabidopsis plants.In this study,we found that OsEMF2a,a rice homolog of the Arabidopsis PcG gene Embryonic Flower2(EMF2),plays a role similar to that of FIS2 in regard to seed development,although there is limited sequence similarity between the genes.Delayed cellularization was observed in osemf2a,associated with an unusual activation of type I MADS-box genes.The cell cycle was persistently activated in osemf2a caryopses,which was likely caused by cytokinin overproduction.However,the overaccumulation of auxin was not found to be associated with the delayed cellularization.As OsEMF2a is a maternally expressed gene in the endosperm,a paternally inherited functional allele was unable to recover the maternal defects of OsEMF2a.Many imprinted rice genes were deregulated in the defective hybrid seeds of osemf2a(♀)/9311(♂)(m9).The paternal expression bias of some paternally expressed genes was disrupted in m9 due to either the activation of maternal alleles or the repression of paternal alleles.These findings suggest that OsEMF2a-PRC2-mediated H3K27me3 is necessary for endosperm cellularization and genomic imprinting in rice. | Xiaojun Cheng Meiyao Pan Zhiguo E Yong Zhou Baixiao Niu Chen Chen | 2021 | Plant Communications2021,2,1: | 5 |
| 5 | OsbZIP76 interacts with OsNF-YBs and regulates endosperm cellularization in rice (Oryza sativa)显示文摘Following double fertilization,plant endosperm nuclei undergo syncytial divisions,followed by synchro-nous cellularization.Cellularization is a key event during endosperm development,but our understanding of its regulation is limited to Arabidopsis.In this study we show that OsbZIP76 regulates cellularization in rice(Oryza sativa).Activation of OsbZIP76 coincided with the initiation of cellularization,and its knockdown or knockout mutants exhibited precocious cellularization.Genes involved in en-dosperm development or starch biosynthesis were pre-maturely activated in the osbzip76 caryopsis.As a putative transcription factor,OsbZIP76 alone lacked transcriptional activation activity;however,it interacted with the nuclear factor Y(NF-Y)family transcription factors OsNF-YB9 and OsNF-YB1 in yeast and in planta.OsbZIP76 and OsNF-YB9 were predominantly expressed in the endosperm and the proteins colocalized.Seeds of osnf-yb1 and osbzip76 mu-tants showed reduced size and reduced apparent amylose content.The parent-of-origin-dependent expression of OsbZIP76 is variable in different rice accessions.In sum-mary,OsbZIP76 is an endosperm-expressed imprinted gene that regulates endosperm development in rice. | Baixiao Niu Hui Deng Tingting Li Sandeep Sharma Qianbin Yun Qianru Li Zhiguo E Chen Chen | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,12: | 4 |
| 6 | High-resolution algorithm based on temporal-spatial extrapolation显示文摘To enhance the resolution of parameter estimation with limited samples received by a short passive array, an iterative nonparametric algorithm for estimating the frequencies and direction-of-arrivals (DOAs) of signals is proposed. The cost function is constructed using l2-norm Gaussian entropy combined with an additional constraint, l2-norm constraint or linear constraint. By minimizing the cost functions in the temporal and the spatial dimensions using corresponding iteration algorithms respectively, the sparse discrete Fourier transforms (DFTs) of temporal and spatial samples are obtained to represent the extrapolated sequences with much larger sizes than the original samples. Then frequency and angle estimates are obtained by performing the traditional simple methods on the extrapolated sequences. It is shown that the proposed algorithm offers increased resolution and significantly reduced sidelobes compared with the periodogram and beamforming based methods. And it achieves high precision compared with the high-resolution method with lower computational burden.
