1DEGREE OF APPROXIMATION BY SUPERPOSITIONS OF A SIGMOIDAL FUNCTION显示文摘In this paper we study the degree of approximation by superpositions of a sigmoidal function.We mainlyconsider the univariate case.If f is a continuous function,we prove that for any bounded sigmoidalfunction σ,dn,σ(f)≤‖σ‖ω(f,1/(n+1)).For the Heaviside function H(x),we prove that dn,H(f)≤ω(f,1/(2(n+1))).If f is a continuous funnction of bounded variation,we prove that dn,σ(f)≤‖σ‖/(n+1)V(f)and dn,H(f)≤1/(2(n+1))V(f).For he Heaviside function,the coefficient 1 and the approximation orders are the bestpossible.We compare these results with the classical Jackson and Bernstein theorems,and make some conjec-tures for further study.Chen Debao (University of Texas at Austin,USA) 1993Analysis in Theory and Applications1993,9,3:11
2High-entropy rare-earth zirconate ceramics with low thermal conductivity for advanced thermal-barrier coatings显示文摘The high-entropy rare-earth zirconate((La_(0.2)Nd_(0.2)Sm_(0.2)Gd_(0.2)Yb_(0.2))_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7),5RE_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)HEREZs)ceramics were successfully prepared by a new high-speed positive grinding strategy combined with solid-state reaction method.The microstructure,crystal structure,phase composition,and thermophysical and mechanical properties of the samples were systematically investigated through various methods.Results indicate that the samples have a single-phase defect fluorite-type crystal structure with excellent high-temperature thermal stability.The as-prepared samples also demonstrate low thermal conductivity(0.9–1.72 W·m^(−1)·K^(−1)at 273–1273 K)and high coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE,10.9×10^(−6)K^(−1)at 1273 K),as well as outstanding mechanical properties including large Young’s modulus(E=186–257 GPa)and high fracture toughness(KIC).Furthermore,the formation possibility of the as-prepared samples was verified through the first-principles calculations,which suggested the feasibility to form the 5RE_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)HE-REZs in the thermodynamic direction.Therefore,in view of the excellent multifunctional properties exhibited by the as-prepared 5RE_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)HE-REZs,they have great potential applications in next-generation thermal-barrier coatings(TBCs).Debao LIU Baolu SHI Liyan GENG Yiguang WANG Baosheng XU Yanfei CHEN 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,6:6
3In vitro and in vivo biocompatibility of Mg–Zn–Ca alloy operative clip显示文摘At present,titanium(Ti)and its alloys are most commonly use in hemostasis clip clinical applications.However,the Ti Clip cannot be absorbed in human body and produce artifacts on computed tomography(CT),and induce clinically relevant hypersensitivity in patients.In order to overcome the drawbacks of the non-degradable Ti clips,an Mg-Zn-Ca alloy operative clip was fabricated by combining hot extrusion and blanking processing.In vitro and in vivo biocompatibility of Mg-Zn-Ca alloy operative clip were evaluated by L-929 Cells and SD rat model respectively.It was found that Mg-Zn-Ca alloy exhibited non-cytotoxic to L929 cells.In vivo implantation showed that the newly designed Mg-Zn-Ca clip can successfully ligated carotid artery and no blood leakage occurred post-surgery.During the period of the clip degradation,a small amount of H2 gas formation and no tissue inflammation around the clips were observed.The degradation rate of the clip near the heart ligated the arteries faster than that of clip far away the heart due do the effect of arterial blood.Histological analysis and various blood biochemical parameters in rat serum samples collected at different times after clip implantation showed no tissue inflammation around the clips.Pengfei Ding Yuanchao Liu Xianghui He Debao Liu Minfang Chen 2019Bioactive Materials2019,4,1:5

5Effects of solidification cooling rate on the corrosion resistance of Mg–Zn–Ca alloy显示文摘This study was carried out to investigate the effect of solidification cooling rate on the corrosion resistance of an Mg–Zn–Ca alloy developed for biomedical applications. A wedge shaped copper mould was used to obtain different solidification cooling rates. Electrochemical and immersion tests were employed to measure the corrosion resistance of Mg–Zn–Ca alloy. It was found that increasing cooling rate resulted in a significant improvement in the corrosion resistance of the Mg–Zn–Ca alloy. 6Development and evaluation of the refined zenith tropospheric delay(ZTD)models显示文摘The tropospheric delay is a significant error source in Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)positioning and navigation.It is usually projected into zenith direction by using a mapping function.It is particularly important to establish a model that can provide stable and accurate Zenith Tropospheric Delay(ZTD).Because of the regional accuracy difference and poor stability of the traditional ZTD models,this paper proposed two methods to refine the Hopfield and Saastamoinen ZTD models.One is by adding annual and semi-annual periodic terms and the other is based on Back-Propagation Artificial Neutral Network(BP-ANN).Using 5-year data from 2011 to 2015 collected at 67 GNSS reference stations in China and its surrounding regions,the four refined models were constructed.The tropospheric products at these GNSS stations were derived from the site-wise Vienna Mapping Function 1(VMP1).The spatial analysis,temporal analysis,and residual distribution analysis for all the six models were conducted using the data from 2016 to 2017.The results show that the refined models can effectively improve the accuracy compared with the traditional models.For the Hopfield model,the improvement for the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and bias reached 24.5/49.7 and 34.0/52.8 mm,respectively.These values became 8.8/26.7 and 14.7/28.8 mm when the Saastamoinen model was refined using the two methods.This exploration is conducive to GNSS navigation and positioning and GNSS meteorology by providing more accurate tropospheric prior information.Fei Yang Xiaolin Meng Jiming Guo Debao Yuan Ming Chen 2021Satellite Navigation2021,2,1:2

9Multi-objective optimization of frequency and damping of vertical stabilizer skin structure placed with variable-angle tows显示文摘The vibration characteristics of composite vertical stabilizer skin structures play a critical role in damping effects designed for overcoming the air disturbances experienced by aircraft structural components during flight.The first-order fundamental frequencies and their corresponding damping characteristics of the vertical stabilizer skin structure tow-steered by automatic fiber placement technique were optimized with the parameterized trajectories and plies as design variables.Firstly,the vibration and damping numerical models were derived based on Kirchhoff laminate theory,the Rayleigh-Ritz method,and the Strain Energy Method.Then the optimization model was developed by adopting the self-adaptive Differential Evolution Multi-objective optimization algorithm and incorporating the solution method of Pareto Front.The constraints of this optimization model considered the experimentally obtained minimum turning radius of prepregs tow-steered in automatic fiber placement process obtained from experimental tests.Finally,the comparison of numerical simulation results was conducted for the optimized trajectories and the conventional straight trajectories under various boundary conditions,and the numerical results were partially validated through damping and frequency tests.The results indicate the vibration characteristics of the composite vertical stabilizer skin structure can be enhanced to a large extent by optimizing fiber trajectories,and the enhancement percentage is affected by the boundary conditions of the actual structure.Lei ZU Xianzhao XIA Qian ZHANG Guiming ZHANG Shijun CHEN Jianhui FU Lichuan ZHOU Huabi WANG Debao LI Liqing ZOU 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,1:1

16Effects of soil organism interactions and temperature on carbon use efficiency in three different forest soils显示文摘Microbial carbon use efficiency(CUE)affects the soil C cycle to a great extent,but how soil organisms and the abiotic environment combine to influence CUE at a regional scale remains poorly understood.In the current study,microcosms were used to investigate how microbial respiration,biomass,and CUE responded to biotic and abiotic factors in natural tropical,subtropical,and temperate forests.Soil samples from the forests were collected,sterilized,and populated with one or a combination of three types of soil organisms(the fungus Botrytis cinerea,the bacterium Escherichia coli,and the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans).The microcosms were then kept at the mean soil temperatures of the corresponding forests.Microbial respiration,biomass,and CUE were measured over one-month incubation period.The results showed that microbial biomass and CUE were significantly higher,but microbial respiration lower in the subtropical and temperate forest soils than in tropical forest soil.Biotic factors mainly affected CUE by their effect on microbial biomass,while temperature affected CUE by altering respiration.Our results indicate that temperature regulates the interactive effects of soil organisms on microbial biomass,respiration,and CUE,which would provide a basis for understanding the soil C cycle in forest ecosystems.Simin Wang Xiaoyun Chen Debao Li Jianping Wu 2021Soil Ecology Letters2021,3,2:1
