| 2 | Fine grain IRSL and GLSL dating of late Quaternary sediments from North China显示文摘A possible approach to assess the fine grain OSL dating is discussed through comparison of equivalent dose (DE) values and ages obtained by IRSL and GLSL of fine grains for 31 sediment samples from North China. The IRSL and GLSL were measured with the same aliquots for each sample, i.e. shine-down was by 100 s of IRSL (880 nm) followed by 100 s of GLSL (514 nm) on the same discs. The DE values and ages found by IRSL are in good agreement with those by GLSL within 1-2σ for 80% samples, especially for aeolian loess samples. Considering that IRSL from feldspar differs obviously from GLSL dominated from quartz in dose response, thermal stability and optical bleaching characteristic, the agreement between the DE values may be taken as evidence that the two clocks of IRSL and GLSL had been well reset during deposition. | 3 | Reduced graphene oxide/silicon nanowire hetero- structures with enhanced photoactivity and superior photoelectrochemical stability显示文摘Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) have been widely studied as light harvesting antennas in photocatalysts due to their ability to absorb broad-spectrum solar radiation, but they are typically limited by poor photoelectrochemical stability. Here, we report the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide-SiNW (rGO-SiNW) heterostructures to achieve greatly improved photocatalytic activity and stability. The SiNWs were synthesized through a metal-assisted electroless etching process and functionalized with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) flakes through a chemical absorption process. Here, the rGO not only functions as a physical protection layer to isolate the SiNWs from the harsh electrochemical environment but also serves as a charge mediator to facilitate the charge separation and transport processes. Furthermore, the rGO may also function as a redox catalyst to ensure efficient utilization of photo-carriers for the desired chemical reactions. Photocatalytic dye degradation studies show that the photoactivity of the heterostructures can be significantly enhanced with an initial activation process and maintained without apparent decay over repeated reaction cycles. Electrochemical and photo- electrochemical studies indicate that the enhanced photoactivity and photostability can be attributed to the more efficient separation of photoexcited charge carriers in SiNWs and the reduced self-oxidation of the surface of the SiNWs during the photocatalytic dye degradation process. | 4 | Recycling combustibles from aged municipal solid wastes(MSW)to improve fresh MSW incineration in Shanghai:Investigation of necessity and feasibility显示文摘Aged municipal solid wastes(MSW)excavated from landfills and dumpsites were characterized to analyze their fraction composition,moisture content,and lower heat value(LHV).The necessity and feasibility of recycling combustibles from aged MSW to improve the incineration of fresh MSW were investigated.The results showed that combustibles in aged MSW were easily separated from other components and than LHV of the separated combustibles are higher than 11000 kJ/kg.The fresh MSW are of high moisture contents with average LHV below 6500 kJ/kg,making their stable combustion difficult to maintain in MSW incinerators.For both fresh MSW and aged MSW,plastics are the main contributor to their LHV.To improve incineration of fresh MSW that are characterized with low LHV,combustibles separated from aged MSW were made into refuse derived fuel(RDF)pellets and were then added to fresh MSW by 2%wt.–5%wt.LHV variation and air supply resistance change of the MSW layer on the incinerator grate caused by the addition of RDF was checked,and no significant changes were found.No obvious difference was observed for the‘burn-out time’between RDF pellets and fresh MSW either.RDF made from aged MSW combustibles is found to be a promising auxiliary fuel to improve the incineration of fresh MSW,and aged MSW from old landfill cells and dumpsites can be finally disposed of jointly with fresh MSW by recycling combustible from the former to be coincinerated with the latter in the incineration plants. | Dezhen CHEN Zhenzhen GUAN Guangyu LIU Gongming ZHOU Tong ZHU | 2010 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2010,4,2: | 1 |

| 10 | Quantitative defect regulation of heterostructures for sulfur catalysis toward fast and long lifespan lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘The advancement of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries is severely retarded by lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)shuttling behavior and sluggish redox kinetics.Herein,the heterogeneous composite with defective Bi_(2)Se_(3−x)nanosheets and porous nitrogen-doped carbon(Bi_(2)Se_(3−x)/NC)is prepared by selenizing bismuth metal-organic frameworks as a multifunctional sulfur host.The highly efficient immobilization-conversion on LiPSs is realized by the synergistic effect of structure construction strategy and defect engineering.It is found that Bi_(2)Se_(3−x)with the suitable amount of selenium vacancies achieves the best electrochemical performance due to the advantages of its structure and composition.These results confirm the intrinsic correlation between defects and catalysis,which are revealed by computational and experimental studies.Due to these superiorities,the developed sulfur electrodes exhibited admirable stability and a fairly lower capacity decay rate of approximately 0.0278%per cycle over 1,000 cycles at a 3 C rate.Even at the high sulfur loading of 6.2 mg·cm^(−2),the cathode still demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 455 mAh·g^(−1)at 1 C.This work may enlighten the development of mechanism investigation and design principles regarding sulfur catalysis toward high-performance Li-S batteries. | Saisai Qiu Xinqi Liang Shuwen Niu Qingguo Chen Gongming Wang Minghua Chen | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,9: | 0 |

| 13 | Modulation of fasting blood glucose by raw banana powder in alloxan-induced diabetic rats显示文摘This study aimed to observe the influence of raw banana powder(RBP)on fasting blood glucose(FBG),blood lipid and other biochemical indicators in type-2 diabetic rats and therefore to provide experimental evidences for developing suitable food from banana powder for diabetic patients.Eight Sprague-Dawley rats were selected randomly as the normal control group(NCG)before the experiment.After establishing type-2 diabetic rat models(11.1-16.7 mmoL/L)by alloxan,32 rats were divided into four groups:the diabetic control group(DCG,n=8),low-dose group(LDG,n=8),middle-dose group(MDG,n=8)and high-dose group(HDG,n=8).The LDG,MDG and HDG rats received gastric perfusion of RBP at the doses of 2 g/kg,4 g/kg and 6 g/kg per day,respectively.After four weeks,oral glucose tolerance test was carried out in each group,and then the FBG level,blood lipid,insulin,short chain fatty acids content,pH value of colon content and other biochemical indicators of rats in each group were determined and compared among the groups.Results showed that the levels of FBG significantly decreased in the LDG(11.97±0.83),MDG(8.95±0.45)and HDG(9.28±1.45),compared with their initial values(13.00±1.25,13.68±0.75 and 13.91±0.80,respectively).The FBG levels in these three groups were obviously lower than that in the DCG.However,there were no dramatic FBG changes in the NCG and DCG(5.77±0.59,14.14±0.72)compared with the initial stage(5.55±0.23,13.93±0.47).The RBP intervention increased insulin-sensitivity index and regulated postprandial blood glucose.Besides,RBP showed the positive effects on symptoms of type 2 diabetic rats,such as the reduction of weight gain and total cholesterol. | Bai Yongliang Yu Ming Du Bing Chen Qingfa Yang Gongming | 2013 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2013,6,3: | 0 |
