The ChinaMAP analytics of deep whole genome sequences in 10,588 individuals显示文摘Metabolic diseases are the most common and rapidly growing health issues worldwide. The massive population-based human genetics is crucial for the precise prevention and intervention of metabolic disorders. The China Metabolic Analytics Project(ChinaMAP)is based on cohort studies across diverse regions and ethnic groups with metabolic phenotypic data in China. Here,we describe the centralized analysis of the deep whole genome sequencing data and the genetic bases of metabolic traits in 10,588 individuals from the ChinaMAP.The frequency spectrum of variants, population structure, pathogenic variants and novel genomic characteristics were analyzed. The individual genetic evaluations of Mendelian diseases, nutrition and drug metabolism, and traits of blood glucose and BMI were integrated. Our study establishes a large-scale and deep resource for the genetics of East Asians and provides opportunities for novel genetic discoveries of metabolic characteristics and disorders. | Yanan Cao Lin Li Min Xu Zhimin Feng Xiaohui Sun Jieli Lu Yu Xu Peina Du Tiange Wang Ruying Hu Zhen Ye Lixin Shi Xulei Tang Li Yan Zhengnan Gao Gang Chen Yinfei Zhang Lulu Chen Guang Ning Yufang Bi Weiqing Wang The ChinaMAP Consortium | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,9: | 20
Angular distribution of terahertz emission from laser interactions with solid targets显示文摘Intense femtosecond laser-plasma interactions can produce high power terahertz radiations. In our experiment, the polished copper target was irradiated by a p-polarized laser with intensity of more than 1018 W/cm2 at an incident angle of 67.5 from the target normal. The THz energy from three dierent detection angles is measured. The maximum emission is found in the direction at an angle of 45 to the laser backward direction, which is more than one order of magnitude higher than in the other two directions.A simple theoretical model has been established to explain the measurements. | DU Fei LI Chun ZHOU MuLin WANG WeiMin SU LuNing ZHENG Yi GE XuLei LI YuTong MA JingLong LIU XiaoLong ZHANG Lu SHENG ZhengMing CHEN LiMing LU Xin DONG QuanLi WANG ZhaoHua WEI ZhiYi ZHANG Jie | 2012 | Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,1: | 2

The influence of target material and thickness on proton energy and angular distribution显示文摘The paper has studied the influence of target material and thickness on energy and angular distributions of the protons generated by using an 800 nm,60 fs,0.24 J laser pulse to irradiate solid target foils. The results show that the initial density and thickness of the targets will affect the formation of the acceleration sheath fields in the target normal direction. For the same target thickness, using lower density target materials can obtain a higher proton maximum energy. However, lower density targets tend to be deformed due to the shock waves launched by the laser pulses, making the proton spatial distribution more divergent. | SU LuNing LIU BiCheng LIN XiaoXuan LIU Feng DU Fei LIU XiaoLong ZHENG Yi GE XuLei LI YuTong SHENG ZhengMing CHEN LiMing WANG WeiMin MA JingLong LU Xin WEI ZhiYi CHEN JiaEr ZHANG Jie | 2013 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,2: | 1
Micro-size picosecond-duration fast neutron source driven by a laser-plasma wakefield electron accelerator显示文摘A pulsed fast neutron source is critical for applications of fast neutron resonance radiography and fast neutron absorption spectroscopy. However, due to the large transversal source size(of the order of mm)and long pulse duration(of the order of ns)of traditional pulsed fast neutron sources,it is difficult to realize high-contrast neutron imaging with high spatial resolution and a fine absorption spectrum. Here,we experimentally present a micro-size ultra-short pulsed neutron source by a table-top laser-plasma wakefield electron accelerator driving a photofission reaction in a thin metal converter.A fast neutron source with source size of approximately 500μm and duration of approximately 36 ps has been driven by a tens of MeV,collimated,micro-size electron beam via a hundred TW laser facility. This micro-size ultra-short pulsed neutron source has the potential to improve the energy resolution of a fast neutron absorption spectrum dozens of times to,for example, approximately 100 eV at 1.65 MeV,which could be of benefit for high-quality fast neutron imaging and deep understanding of the theoretical model of neutron physics. | Yaojun Li Jie Feng Wenzhao Wang Junhao Tan Xulei Ge Feng Liu Wenchao Yan Guoqiang Zhang Changbo Fu Liming Chen | 2022 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2022,10,5: | 0
Extracellular vesicles derived from human dental mesenchymal stem cells stimulated with low-intensity pulsed ultrasound alleviate inflammation-induced bone loss in a mouse model of periodontitis显示文摘Extracellular vesicles(EVs)derived from mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have emerged as a new mode of intercellular crosstalk and are responsible for many of the thera-peutic effects of MSCs.To promote the application of MSC-EVs,recent studies have focused on the manipulation of MSCs to improve the production of EVs and EV-mediated activities. The current paper details an optimization method using non-invasive low-intensity pulsed ul-trasound(LIPUS)as the stimulation for improving oral MSC-EV production and effectiveness.Stem cells from apical papilla(SCAP),a type of oral mesenchymal stem cell, displayed inten-sity-dependent pro-osteogenic and anti-inflammatory responses to LIPUS without significant cytotoxicity or apoptosis. The stimuli increased the secretion of EVs by promoting the expres-sion of neutral sphingomyelinases in SCAP.In addition,EVs from LIPUS-induced SCAP exhibited stronger efficacy in promoting the osteogenic differentiation and anti-inflammation of peri-odontal ligament cells in vitro and alleviating oral inflammatory bone loss in vivo.In addition,LIPUS stimulation affected the physical characteristics and miRNA cargo of SCAP-EVs.Further investigations indicated that miR-935 is an important mediator of the pro-osteogenic and anti-inflammatory capabilities of LIPUS-induced SCAP-EVs.Taken together, these findings demonstrate that LIPUS is a simple and effective physical method to optimize SCAP-EV produc-tion and efficacy. | Tingwei Zhang Ziqi Chen Mengyuan Zhu Xuan Jing Xiaohui Xu Xulei Yuan Mengjiao Zhou Yanan Zhang Miao Lu Duanjing Chen Shihan Xu Jinlin Song | 2023 | Genes & Diseases2023,10,4: | 0

Adaptive deep learning for head and neck cancer detection using hyperspectral imaging显示文摘It can be challenging to detect tumor margins during surgery for complete resection. The purpose of this work is to develop a novel learning method that learns the difference between the tumor and benign tissue adaptively for cancer detection on hyperspectral images in an animal model.Specifically,an auto-encoder network is trained based on the wavelength bands on hyperspectral images to extract the deep information to create a pixel-wise prediction of cancerous and benign pixel.According to the output hypothesis of each pixel, the misclassified pixels would be reclassified in the right prediction direction based on their adaptive weights. The auto-encoder network is again trained based on these updated pixels. The learner can adaptively improve the ability to identify the cancer and benign tissue by focusing on the misclassified pixels, and thus can improve the detection performance. The adaptive deep learning method highlighting the tumor region proved to be accurate in detecting the tumor boundary on hyperspectral images and achieved a sensitivity of 92.32%and a specificity of 91.31%in our animal experiments. This adaptive learning method on hyperspectral imaging has the potential to provide a noninvasive tool for tumor detection, especially, for the tumor whose margin is indistinct and irregular. | Ling Ma Guolan Lu Dongsheng Wang Xulei Qin Zhuo Georgia Chen Baowei Fei | 2019 | Visual Computing for Industry,Biomedicine, and Art2019,2,1: | 0
The environmental adaptability and reproductive properties of invasive green alga Codium fragile from the Nan'ao Island,South China Sea显示文摘It has been widely recognized that biological invasion has become one of the greatest threats to the ecosystem.Codium fragile is an invasive species which exhibits a variety of attributes like parthenogenesis, winter fragment, and vegetative reproduction;and therefore,it has become a successful invader, colonizing most subtropical regions. In China’s southeast coastal aquaculture waters, the green algal bloom caused by C.fragile will probably become a serious problem. In order to understand more details about the species,an experiment focused on its reproductive characteristics was conducted using culture established from a sample collected in the aquaculture raft of the Nan’ao Island in the South China Sea.The results showed that there were two types of gametes resembling aplanospores and zoospores respectively, both of which were able to germinate.During the gametes liberation,a long mucilage tube was formed out of the mouth of the gametangium assisting dispersal of gametes away from the parent plant. This tube was adapted not only to its surrounding flowing water environment but also to its parent plant’s outer gelatinous structure. In general, the optimum temperature for gametes release and germination was 15-20℃ and 15℃,respectively,which corresponded to the local offshore marine water. The plant was observed to produce vegetative buds under favourable reproductive conditions which were called propagules. They were capable of developing into filamentous thalli. The results will provide some scientific evidences for revealing the biological mechanism of bloom and control strategies of invasive green algae. | Lanping Ding Xulei Wang Bingxin Huang Weizhou Chen Shanwen Chen | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,3: | 0
Dynamic response of mountain tunnel, bridge, and embankment along the Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor to active fault based on model tests显示文摘The Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor is prone to numerous active faults and frequent strong earthquakes. While extensive studies have individually explored the effect of active faults and strong earthquakes on different engineering structures, their combined effect remains unclear. This research employed multiple physical model tests to investigate the dynamic response of various engineering structures, including tunnels, bridges, and embankments, under the simultaneous influence of cumulative earthquakes and stick-slip misalignment of an active fault. The prototype selected for this study was the Kanding No.2 tunnel, which crosses the Yunongxi fault zone within the Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor. The results demonstrated that the tunnel, bridge, and embankment exhibited amplification in response to the input seismic wave, with the amplification effect gradually decreasing as the input peak ground acceleration(PGA)increased. The PGAs of different engineering structures were weakened by the fault rupture zone.Nevertheless, the misalignment of the active fault may decrease the overall stiffness of the engineering structure, leading to more severe damage, with a small contribution from seismic vibration.Additionally, the seismic vibration effect might be enlarged with the height of the engineering structure, and the tunnel is supposed to have a smaller PGA and lower dynamic earth pressure compared to bridges and embankments in strong earthquake zones crossing active faults. The findings contribute valuable insights for evaluating the dynamic response of various engineering structures crossing an active fault and provide an experimental reference for secure engineering design in the challenging conditions of the Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor. | HUANG Beixiu QIAO Sijia CHEN Xulei LI Lihui QI Shengwen | 2024 | Journal of Mountain Science2024,21,1: | 0
Effects of second-order dispersion of ultrashort laser pulse on stimulated Raman scattering显示文摘The influence of second-order dispersion(SOD)on stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)in the interaction of an ultrashort intense laser with plasma was investigated.More significant backward SRS was observed with the increase of the absolute value of SOD(|ψ2|).The integrated intensity of the scattered light is positively correlated to the driver laser pulse duration.Accompanied by the side SRS,filaments with different angles along the laser propagation direction were observed in the transverse shadowgraph.A model incorporating Landau damping and above-threshold ionization was developed to explain the SOD-dependent angular distribution of the filaments. | Yanqing Deng Dongning Yue Mufei Luo Xu Zhao Yaojun Li Xulei Ge Feng Liu Suming Weng Min Chen Xiaohui Yuan Jie Zhang | 2022 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2022,10,6: | 0
