| 1 | Low-frequency sea level variation and its correlation with climate events in the Pacific显示文摘Global mean sea level(GMSL) has not only significant secular trend and seasonal variations,but also inter-annual and decadal variations.This paper reconstructs the time series of GMSL variations between 1948 and 2007 by combining satellite altimeter measurements and tide gauge observations.Based on the time series,the acceleration of GMSL rise in the second half of 20th century is estimated to be 0.010±0.009 mm/a 2,and multi-scale low frequency sea level oscillations including decadal variations are detected,and the high-rate of GMSL rise during 1993-2003 is locate in the ascending phase of low frequency oscillation.Then,using the reconstructed GMSL time series after removing the secular trend from satellite altimetry and tide gauges measurements,it shows that low frequency signal of sea level variation has strong correlations with the index of El Ni o/Southern Oscillation(ENSO) and Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO).But in several time periods,they have large difference due to effects of both high frequency occurrence of El Ni o and La Ni a phenomenon and short term switch of PDO events. | JIN TaoYong LI JianCheng JIANG WeiPing CHU YongHai | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,27: | 6 |

| 4 | Extraction of two tsunamis signals generated by earthquakes around the Pacific rim显示文摘As one of the ocean sudden natural disasters,the tsunami is not easily to differentiate from the ocean variation in the open ocean due to the tsunami wave amplitude is less than one meter with hundreds of kilometers wavelength. But the wave height will increases up to tens of meters with enormous energy when the tsunami arrives at the coast. It would not only devastate entire cities near coast,but also kill millions of people. It is necessary to forecast and make warning before the tsunami arriving for many countries and regions around the Pacific rim. Two kinds of data were used in this study to extract the signals of 2011 Tohoku tsunami and 2014Iquique tsunami. Wave undulations from DART( Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis) buoys and SLA from altimetry could extract the tsunami signals generated by this two earthquake. | 5 | Evaluation of the geopotential value W_0^(LVD) of China显示文摘Estimation of the zero-height geopotential value W_0^(LVD) for the CVD(China Vertical Datum) plays a fundamental role in the connection of traditional height reference systems into a global height system.Estimation the W_0^(LVD) of China is based on the computation of the mean geopotential offset between the value W_0= 62636856.0 m^2 s^(-2), selected as reference in this study, and the unknown geopotential value W_0^(LVD). This estimation is based on the combination of ellipsoidal heights, levelled heights(referring to the CVD), and some physical parameters, such as geopotential values, gravity values, and geoid undulations.The geoid undulations derived from the GGM(Global Geopotential Models). This combination is performed through three approaches: The first one is based on the theory of Molodensky, and the second one compares levelled heights and geopotential values derived from the GGMs, while the third one analyses the differences between GPS/Levelling and GGMs geoid undulations. The approaches are evaluated at 65 benchmarks(BMs) covered around Qingdao where the tide gauge is used to observe the local mean sea level of China. The results from three approaches are very similar. | 8 | Ice-sheet surface elevation change from crossover of ENVISAT data显示文摘Understanding the current state of the polar ice sheets is critical for determining their contribution to sea-level rise and predicting their response to climate change.Surface elevation time series especially can be used to study ice-sheet dynamics and the mass or volume balance of the ice sheets,which are relevant to global climate change and sea-level rise.During the last two decades,satellite radar altimetry or airborne laser altimetry could obtain accuracy by an order of magnitude greater than the traditional airborne barometric altimetry,which has a precision of typically several tens of meters at best and only a limited coverage.The widest coverage comes from satellites,especially from the ERS1/2 and ENVISAT,which extends to 81.5°of latitude,covering almost all of Greenland and most of Antarctica.In this paper,an algorithm for time series analysis based on crossover was used to obtain 4-year(September 2002–March 2007)ice-sheet elevation changes from ENVISAT data.The height of the whole Antarctic ice sheet has a decline of about 0.4±0.43 cm from September 2002 to March 2007.The time series data present clearly a seasonal and annual signal feature;that the ice sheet thickens in March.From the time series data,the seasonal and annual signal can be observed clearly. | CHU Yonghai LI Jiancheng | 2012 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2012,15,1: | 0 |
| 9 | Improving Gravity Anomalies Over China Marginal Sea from Retracked Geosat and ERS-1 Data显示文摘The quality of altimeter data and ocean tide model is critical to the recovery of coastal gravity anomalies. In this contribution, three retracking methods (threshold, improved threshold and Beta-5) are investigated with the aim of improving the altimeter data over a shallow water area. Comparison indicates that the improved threshold is the best retracking method over China Sea. Two ocean tide models, NAO99b and CSR4.0, are analyzed. Results show that different tide models used in the processing of altimeter data may result in differences more than 10 mGal in recovered coastal gravity anomalies. Also, NAO99b is more suitable than CSR4.0 over the shallow water area of China Sea. Finally, gravity anomalies over China Sea are calculated from retracked Geosat/GM and ERS-1/GM data by least squares collocation. Comparison with shipborne gravimetry data demonstrates that gravity anomalies from retracked data are significantly superior to those from non-retracked data.
