1Effects of samarium content on microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg–0.5Zn–0.5Zr alloy显示文摘Effects of samarium (Sm) content (0, 2.0, 3.5, 5.0, 6.5 wt%) on microstructure and mechanical proper-ties of Mg-0.5Zn-0.5 Zr alloy under as-cast and as-extruded states were thoroughly investigated. Results indicate that grains of the as-cast alloys are gradually refined as Sm content increases. The dominant intermetallic ph^se changes from Mg3Sm to Mg4iSm5 till Sm content exceeds 5.0 wt%. The dynami-cally precipitated intermetallic phase during hot-extrusion in dll Sm-containing alloys is Mg3Sm. The intermetallic particles induced by Sm addition could act as heterogeneous nucleation sites for dynamic recrystallization during hot extrusion. They promoted dynamic recrystallization via the particle stim-ulated nucleation mechanism, and resulted in weakening the basal texture in the as-extruded alloys. Sm addition can significantly enhance the strength of the as-extruded Mg-0.5Zn-0.5Zr alloy at room temperature, with the optimal dosage of 3.5 wt%. The optimal yield strength (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) are 368 MPa and 383 MPa, which were enhanced by approximately 23.1% and 20.8% com-pared with the Sm-free alloy, respectively. 2Unexpected formation of hydrides in heavy rare earth containing magnesium alloys显示文摘Mg–RE(Dy,Gd,Y)alloys show promising for being developed as biodegradable medical applications.It is found that the hydride REH_(2) could be formed on the surface of samples during their preparations with water cleaning.The amount of formed hydrides in Mg–RE alloys is affected by the content of RE and heat treatments.It increases with the increment of RE content.On the surface of the alloy with T4 treatment the amount of formed hydride REH_(2) is higher.In contrast,the amount of REH2 is lower on the surfaces of as-cast and T6-treated alloys.Their formation mechanism is attributed to the surface reaction of Mg–RE alloys with water.The part of RE in solid solution in Mg matrix plays an important role in influencing the formation of hydrides.Yuanding Huang Lei Yang Sihang You Weimin Gan Karl Ulrich Kainer Norbert Hort 2016Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2016,4,3:3

7Sea ice concentration over the Antarctic Ocean from satellite pulse altimetry显示文摘Sea ice concentration (SIC) is an important parameter in characterizing sea ice. Limited by the environment and the spatial extent of observation, it is difficult for field work to meet the needs of a large-scale SIC study. However, with its many advantages, such as the ability to make large-scale, high-resolution and long-duration observations, the altimeter can be used to determine SIC on a large scale. Using the correspondence between the satellite pulse altimeter waveform and reflector property, waveform classification is employed. Moreover, this paper develops an algorithm to obtain the SIC from altimeter waveforms. In an actual computation, Pyrz Bay in the Antarctic is taken as an experimental region, and one-year and seasonal SICs are derived from ERS-1/GM waveforms over this study area. Furthermore, altimetric SICs are compared with those of SSMR SSM/I. The results show that the spatial distribution and the regions of maximum SIC determined employing these two methods are consistent. 9GTA Welds of Iron-Aluminide Based Alloys显示文摘The weldability of two Fe3Al-based intermetallic alloys and one Fe- 16%Al-based (atom fraction) alloy has been investigated for gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding on sheets with a thickness of 2 mm. The results indicated that pre-heating and post-annealing treatment were important procedures for retarding cold crack initiation and the proper selection of filler could effectively improve the weldability. 10Microstructural evolution of Mg-14Gd-0.4Zr alloy during compressive creep显示文摘The present work reports the creep behavior and microstructural evolution of the sand-cast Mg-14Gd-0.4Zr alloy(wt.%) prepared by the differential pressure casting machine. Their compressive creep tests at 250 ℃ were performed under various applied stresses(i.e., 60, 80 and100 MPa). Among them, the sand-cast Mg-14Gd-0.4Zr samples examined under 250 ℃/80 MPa for 39 and 95 h, respectively, were chosen to systemically analyze their creep mechanisms using high-angle annular dark field-scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM).The obtained results showed that the enhancement of creep resistance can be mainly attributed to the coherent β' and β'_F phases with an alternate distribution, effectively impeding the basal dislocations movement. However, with the creep time increasing, the fine β'+β'_F precipitate chains coarsened and transformed to semi-coherent β_1 phase and even to large incoherent β phase(surrounded by precipitate-free areas) in grain interiors. The precipitate-free zones(PFZs) at grain boundaries(GBs) were formed, and they could expand during creep deformation. Apart from the main cross-slip of basal and prismatic dislocations, type dislocations were activated and tended to distribute near the GBs. 11Hot deformation behavior of novel high-strength Mg-0.6Mn-0.5Al-0.5Zn-0.4Ca alloy显示文摘The hot compression behavior of as-extruded Mg-0.6Mn-0.5Al-0.5Zn-0.4Ca alloy was studied on a Gleeble-3500 thermal simulation machine.Experiments were conducted at temperatures ranging from 523 to 673 K and strain rates ranging from 0.001 to 1 s^(-1).Results showed that an increase in the strain rate or a decrease in deformation temperature led to an increase in true stress.The constitutive equation and processing maps of the alloy were obtained and analyzed.The influence of deformation temperatures and strain rates on microstructural evolution and texture was studied with the assistance of electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD).The as-extruded alloy exhibited a bimodal structure that consisted of deformed coarse grains and fine equiaxed recrystallized structures(approximately 1.57μm).The EBSD results of deformed alloy samples revealed that the recrystallization degree and average grain size increased as the deformation temperature increased.By contrast,dislocation density and texture intensity decreased.Compressive texture weakened with the increase in the deformation temperature at the strain rate of 0.01 s-1.Most grains with{0001}planes tilted away from the compression direction(CD)gradually.In addition,when the strain rate decreased,the recrystallization degree and average grain size increased.Meanwhile,the dislocation density decreased.Texture appeared to be insensitive to the strain rate.These findings provide valuable insights into the hot compression behavior,microstructural evolution,and texture changes in the Mg-0.6Mn-0.5Al-0.5Zn-0.4Ca alloy,contributing to the understanding of its processing-microstructure-property relationships.Hao Chen Yanmei Yang Conglin Hu Gang Zhou Hui Shi Genzhi Jiang Yuanding Huang Norbert Hort Weidong Xie Guobing Wei 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,12:0
12Microstructure,mechanical properties and fracture behaviors of large-scale sand-cast Mg-3Y-2Gd-1Nd-0.4Zr alloy显示文摘In order to improve the ductility of commercial WE43 alloy and reduce its cost,a Mg-3Y-2Gd-1Nd-0.4Zr alloy with a low amount of rare earths was developed and prepared by sand casting with a differential pressure casting system.Its microstructure,mechanical properties and fracture behaviors in the as-cast,solution-treated and as-aged states were evaluated.It is found that the aged alloy exhibited excellent comprehensive mechanical properties owing to the fine dense plate-shapedβ'precipitates formed on prismatic habits during aging at 200℃for 192 hrs after solution-treated at 500℃for 24 hrs.Its ultimate tensile strength,yield strength,and elongation at ambient temperature reach to 319±10 MPa,202±2 MPa and 8.7±0.3%as well as 230±4 MPa,155±1 MPa and 16.0±0.5%at 250℃.The fracture mode of as-aged alloy was transferred from cleavage at room temperature to quasi-cleavage and ductile fracture at the test temperature 300℃.The properties of large-scale components fabricated using the developed Mg-3Y-2Gd-1Nd-0.4Zr alloy are better than those of commercial WE43 alloy,suggesting that the new developed alloy is a good candidate to fabricate the large complex thin-walled components.Lixiang Yang Yuanding Huang Zhengquan Hou Lv Xiao Yuling Xu Xiwang Dong Fei Li Gerrit Kurz Baode Sun Zhongquan Li Norbert Hort 2023Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,8:0

14Applications of Magnesium Alloys in Aerospace and Aviation显示文摘Magnesium alloys are well applied in aerospace and aviation because of their mass saving potential,good electromagnetic shielding performance,and high damping capacity. To further promote the applications,in this paper,the applications of magnesium alloys are reviewed,which could provide insights for researchers and application designers. Firstly,the applications in aerospace are reviewed,including missile,satellite,rocket,and spacecraft.Secondly,the applications and commercial magnesium alloys in aviation are summarized. Thirdly,the bottleneck and existing problems for such magnesium alloys applied in aerospace and aviation are discussed. 16Effect of potential difference between nano-Al_(2)O_(3)whisker and Mg matrix on the dispersion of Mg composites显示文摘The potential difference between positive and negative ions was utilized to improve the homogenized dispersion of nanoscale Al_(2)O_(3) whiskers in Mg matrix composites.The Mg powders were decorated with sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate(C_(18)H_(29)NaO_(3)S,SDBS)and were introduced to the cathode group on their surface.The Al_(2)O_(3) whiskers were modified by the cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(C_(19)H_(42)BrN,CTAB)and were featured in the anode group.The suitable contents of CTAB and SDBS,the application atmosphere,and the type of solvents were investigated.Dispersion results showed that adding 2wt%SDBS into Mg powders and adding 2wt%CTAB into Al_(2)O_(3) whiskers pro-moted the formation of more uniformly mixed composite powders,compared to those of conventional ball milling via scanning electron micro-scopy(SEM)analysis.Meanwhile,the calculated results derived from first-principle calculations also demonstrated the stronger cohesion between Al_(2)O_(3) whisker reinforcements and Mg matrix than undecorated composite powders.After preparation by powder metallurgy,the mor-phology,grain size,hardness,and standard deviation coefficient of composites were analyzed to evaluate the dispersed efficiency.The results indicated that the modification of homogenized dispersed Al_(2)O_(3) whiskers in composites contributed to the refinement of 26%in grain size and the improvement of 20%in hardness compared with pure Mg,and the reduction of 32.5%in the standard deviation coefficient of hardness compared with the ball-milling sample.Xiaoying Qian Hong Yang Chunfeng Hu Ying Zeng Yuanding Huang Xin Shang Yangjie Wan Bin Jiang Qingguo Feng 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,1:0
17Water Changes and Sources of Siling Co Using Landsat and GRACE Data since 1972显示文摘The inland lakes on the Tibetan Plateau(TP)are undergoing significant changes due to their sensitivity to climate.The largest lake in Tibet,Siling Co,has expanded most dramatically during recent decades.Using Landsat,GRACE and meteorological data,the expansion of Siling Co was detailed in four stages and the process was further explained.The results show that the lake area increased from 1647.30 km^(2)in 1972 to 2438.99 km^(2)in 2020.It experienced a slow growth at a rate 6.03 km^(2)/yr from 1972 to 1988,while fluctuating at 1.44 km^(2)/yr during 1989–1997,then accelerated at 60.28 km^(2)/yr between 1998 and 2005,and expanded slowly again at 11.40 km^(2)/yr since 2006.The continued expansion led to its merger with nearby Yagain Co in 2003.Terrestrial water storage(TWS)increase was also observed from GRACE(0.65 cm/yr),with about 0.75 coefficient of determination between the TWS and lake area during 2002–2020.The long-term expansion of Siling Co is related to the increasing trends of temperature and precipitation,but their contributions vary with time span.Specifically,the accelerated stage between 1998 and 2005 can be explained by the increased temperature and precipitation accompanied by a drop in evaporation,while the slow expansion since 2006 was due to the decrease in precipitation and temperature and the rise in evaporation.There is no obvious mass loss of glaciers revealed by GRACE during 2002–2020,which may be related to the negative trend of the temperature.Furthermore,the precipitation may still make a major contribution in this phase,as its average is about 93.9 mm higher than that in 1988–1997.Chuya Wang Yuande Yang Fei Li Junhao Wang Leiyu Li Huiting Yu 2024Journal of Earth Science2024,35,2:0
18Improving Gravity Anomalies Over China Marginal Sea from Retracked Geosat and ERS-1 Data显示文摘The quality of altimeter data and ocean tide model is critical to the recovery of coastal gravity anomalies. In this contribution, three retracking methods (threshold, improved threshold and Beta-5) are investigated with the aim of improving the altimeter data over a shallow water area. Comparison indicates that the improved threshold is the best retracking method over China Sea. Two ocean tide models, NAO99b and CSR4.0, are analyzed. Results show that different tide models used in the processing of altimeter data may result in differences more than 10 mGal in recovered coastal gravity anomalies. Also, NAO99b is more suitable than CSR4.0 over the shallow water area of China Sea. Finally, gravity anomalies over China Sea are calculated from retracked Geosat/GM and ERS-1/GM data by least squares collocation. Comparison with shipborne gravimetry data demonstrates that gravity anomalies from retracked data are significantly superior to those from non-retracked data.
