| 1 | Retinol binding protein 4 correlates with and is an early predictor of carotid atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients显示文摘The association of retinol binding protein 4(RBP4) with atherosclerosis of the carotid artery in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) remains undefined.We aimed to investigate the correlation of RBP4 expression with atherosclerosis of the carotid artery in T2 DM.A total of 1,076 subjects were investigated for intima-media thickness of the bilateral common carotid arteries,and they were divided into three groups:in group Ⅰ,patients had normal neck vascular ultrasound,in group Ⅱ,intimal carotid artery media thickness was equal to or more than 1 mm,and in group Ⅲ,carotid artery plaque was present.Height,weight,blood pressure(BP),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),hemoglobin Alc(HbAlc),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),apolipoprotein A-l(apoA-1),apolipoprotein B(apoB) and lipoprotein(a)[Lp(a)]were determined by routine laboratory methods.RBP4 and high sensitivity C reactive protein(HsCRP) were measured by an enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay,and insulin concentration was measured by an electrochemiluminescence sandwich immunoassay.Duration of diabetes,waist and BP,FPG,HbAlc,TG,TC,LDL-C,APOB,Lp(a),HsCRP,RBP4 and homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) were significantly lower in group I than in the other two groups(P<0.01,P<0.01).Plasma levels of HbAlc,RBP4,LDL-C,TC,HOMA-IR,HsCRP and Lp(a),waist and BP were significantly increased in group Ⅲ than in group Ⅱ(F<0.01),Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that there were seven factors associated with the occurrence of carotid artery atherosclerosis and its risks in descending order were:high LDL-C,high waist,high HsCRP,duration of diabetes,high HOMA-IR,HbAlc and high RBP4.Our finding supported that RBP4 was positively correlated with carotid atherosclerosis in patients with T2 DM and could be used as an early predictor of cardiovascular disease. | Shangyong Feng Yan Zhu Caifeng Yan Yan Wang Zhenweng Zhang | 2015 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2015,29,6: | 15 |

| 4 | Effect of simvastatin on the atherosclerotic plaque stability and the angiogenesis in the atherosclerotic plaque of rabbits显示文摘In this study, the effect of simvastatin on the atherosclerotic plaque stability and the angiogenesis in the atherosclerotic plaque of rabbits was observed. Thirty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into the normal control group, the model control group and the simvastatin group, 10 in each group. Rabbits in the normal control group were fed with normal forage, while rabbits in the rest two groups were fed with high fat forage. The balloon injury was performed two weeks later to establish an abdominal aortic atherosclerosis model, and then high fat forage was successively fed to them. Meanwhile, simvastatin at the daily dose of 2.5 mg/kg body weight was administered to rabbits in the simvastatin group. After 6 weeks of successive administration, levels of blood lipids were measured after blood sampling, and the serum high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and matrix metalloproteinase-3,-9 (MMP-3,-9) were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The macroscopically pathological indices of the plaque tissue were observed using hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining of abdominal aorta specimens under a light microscope, and the plaque area (PA), cross-sectional vascular area (CVA) and correcting plaque area (PA/CVA) were determined quantitatively using imaging software. The protein expressions of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), factor VIII related antigen (FVIIIRAg), MMP-3 and cluster of differentiation antigen 40 ligand (CD40L) in the plaque were detected with the immunohistochemical method. Compared with the model control group, the levels of VEGF, FVIIIRAg, MMP-3, CD40L protein expression and the serum expression levels of hsCRP, MMP-3, MMP-9 in the simvastatin group were significantly reduced (P<0.05, P<0.01). The ratio PA/CVA in the simvastatin group was more significantly reduced when compared with that in the model control group (P<0.01). The levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) were significantly reduced in the simvastatin group when compared with those in the model control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). | 6 | Extraction of Strain Characteristic Signals from Wind Turbine Blades Based on EEMD-WT显示文摘Analyzing the strain signal of wind turbine blade is the key to studying the load of wind turbine blade,so as to ensure the safe and stable operation of wind turbine in natural environment.The strain signal of the wind turbine blade under continuous crosswind state has typical non-stationary and unsteady characteristics.The strain signal contains a lot of noise,which makes the analysis error.Therefore,it is very important to denoise and extract features of measured signals before signal analysis.In this paper,the joint algorithm of ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD)and wavelet transform(WT)is used for the first time to achieve sufficient noise reduction and effectively extract the feature signals of non-stationary strain signals.The application process of EEMD-WT is optimized.This optimization can avoid the repeated selection of wavelet basis function and the number of decomposition layers due to different crosswind conditions.EEMD adaptively decomposes the strain signal into intrinsic mode functions,to judge the frequency of IMFs,remove the high-frequency noise components,retain the useful components.The useful components are denoised twice by the wavelet transform,the components and residual terms after the secondary denoising are reconstructed to obtain the characteristic signal.The EEMD-WT was applied to process the simulating signals andmeasured the strain signals.The results were compared with the results of the EEMD.The results showed that the EEMD-WTmethod has better noise reduction performance,and can effectively extract the characteristics of strain signals,which lays a solid foundation for accurate analysis of wind turbine blade strain signals under crosswind conditions. | Jin Wang Zhen Liu Ying Wang Caifeng Wen Jianwen Wang | 2023 | Energy Engineering2023,120,5: | 1 |

| 15 | Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases regulate cell division and development in Arabidopsis roots显示文摘Root organogenesis involves cell division,differentiation and expansion. The molecular mechanisms regulating root development are not fully understood.In this study, we identified poly(adenosine diphosphate(ADP)-ribose) polymerases(PARPs) as new players in root development. PARP catalyzes poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation of proteins by repeatedly adding ADP-ribose units onto proteins using nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADt)as the donor. We found that inhibition of PARP activities by3-aminobenzomide(3-AB) increased the growth rates of both primary and lateral roots, leading to a more developed root system. The double mutant of Arabidopsis PARPs, parp1parp2, showed more rapid primary and lateral root growth. Cyclin genes regulating G1-to-S and G2-to-Mtransition were up-regulated upon treatment by 3-AB.The proportion of 2C cells increased while cells with higher DNA ploidy declined in the roots of treated plants, resulting in an enlarged root meristematic zone. The expression level of PARP2 was very low in the meristematic zone but high in the maturation zone, consistent with a role of PARP in inhibiting mitosis and promoting cell differentiation. | 18 | Responses and sensitivity of N, P and mobile carbohydrates of dominant species to increased water, N and P availability in semi- arid grasslands in northern China显示文摘Aims We aimed to improve the understanding of the carbon and nutri-ent physiological responses and adaptation of semi-arid grassland plants to environmental changes.Methods We investigated plant leaf non-structural carbohydrate(NSC=solu-ble sugars+starch),nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)levels in an Inner Mongolian semi-arid grassland community treated with water,N and P additions for 8 years.Two dominant grasses(Agropyron cris-tatum(L.)Gaertn.,Stipa krylovii Roshev.)and two forbs(Artemisia frigida Willd.,Potentilla bifurca L.)were analyzed.Important Findings Water addition decreased plant leaf N and P concentrations,whereas N and P addition increased them,indicating that the semi-arid grassland studied suffers from a shortage of N and P sup-ply.Both N and P addition decreased the levels of soluble sugars,starch and thus also NSC in plant leaves,which may be attributed to(i)increased carbohydrate consumption associated with a higher growth rate,and(ii)a dilution effect of greater plant size under N and P addition.Water addition tended to increase the leaf NSC levels both in the grasses(+9.2%)and forbs(+0.6%only),which may be a result of increased photosynthesis of plants with increased water availability.Under conditions of ambient and increased water supply in the present study,N addition resulted in an N/P ratio of>16 in the grasses but a significantly lower N/P ratio of<11 in the forb species.This finding implies that growth of the two grass spe-cies will be limited mainly by P availability but the forbs will still be mainly limited by N supply if N deposition,alone or in combination with summer precipitation,continues to increase as predicted in Inner Mongolia. | Xue Wang Zhuwen Xu Caifeng Yan Wentao Luo Ruzhen Wang Xingguo Han Yong Jiang Mai-He Li | 2017 | Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,3: | 1 |
