1Counteraction of ABA-Mediated Inhibition of Seed Germination and Seedling Establishment by ABA Signaling Terminator in Arabidopsis显示文摘Seed germination and seedling establishment are important for the reproductive success of plants,but seeds and seedlings typically encounter constantly changing environmental conditions.By inhibiting seed germination and post-germinative growth through the PYR1/PYL/RCAR ABA receptors and PP2C co-receptors,the phytohormone abscisic acid(ABA)prevents premature germination and seedling growth under unfavorable conditions.However,little is known about how the ABA-mediated inhibition of seed germination and seedling establishment is thwarted.Here,we report that ABA Signaling Terminator(ABT),a WD40 protein,efficiently switches off ABA signaling and is critical for seed germination and seedling establishment.ABT is induced by ABA in a PYR1/PYL/RCAR-PP2C-dependent manner.Overexpression of ABT promotes seed germination and seedling greening in the presence of ABA,whereas knockout of ABT has the opposite effect.We found that ABT interacts with the PYR1/PYL/RCAR and PP2C proteins,interferes with the interaction between PYR1/PYL4 and ABI1/ABI2,and hampers the inhibition of ABI1/ABI2 by ABA-bound PYR1/PYL4,thereby terminating ABA signaling.Taken together,our results reveal a core mechanism of ABA signaling termination that is critical for seed germination and seedling establishment in Arabidopsis.Zhijuan Wang Ziyin Ren Chunhong Cheng Tao Wang Hongtao Ji Yang Zhao Zhiping Deng Liya Zhi Jingjing Lu Xinying Wu Shimin Xu Mengmeng Cao Hongtao Zhao Liu Liu Jiankang Zhu Xia Li 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,9:10
2Ge-on-Si modulators operating at mid-infrared wavelengths up to 8 μm显示文摘We report mid-infrared Ge-on-Si waveguide-based PIN diode modulators operating at wavelengths of 3.8 and8 μm. Fabricated 1-mm-long electro-absorption devices exhibit a modulation depth of >35 dB with a 7 V forward bias at 3.8 μm, and a similar 1-mm-long Mach–Zehnder modulator has a Vπ· L of 0.47 V · cm. Driven by a 2.5 Vpp RF signal, 60 MHz on-off keying modulation was demonstrated. 3Application of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in minimally invasive ablation of benign thyroid nodules显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to investigate the application value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)before and after minimally invasive ablation procedures for benign thyroid nodule(s)(BTN).Methods:This prospective study included patients with BTNs scheduled to undergo ultrasound-guided minimally invasive ablation treatment.CEUS was performed before and after ablation(at 1 day,and 1,6,and 12 months after ablation).Changes in microvascular perfusion and the volume of BTNs were noted and assessed.Results:Sixty-two patients(62 BTNs),who underwent ablation procedures between June 2016 and August 2020,were included.All lesions were confirmed by biopsy,and histopathological results were obtained before ablation treatment.On preoperative CEUS,the lesions exhibited hyperenhancement(53.23%)or iso-enhancement(46.77%)during the arterial phase,and all lesions exhibited iso-enhancement in the venous and late phases.One day after ablation,none of the BTNs exhibited obvious enhancement on CEUS.One(1.61%)lesion was retreated due to a nodule-like enhancement area detected by CEUS at the 6-month follow-up.The mean nodular volume reduction rate(VRR)at 1,6,and 12 months follow-up demonstrated no significant difference between the two ablation groups(microwave ablation versus radiofrequency ablation).Twelve months after ablation,the mean(±SD)VRR of all BTNs was 60.3±10.3%.Conclusion:CEUS helped guide treatment decisions for BTNs before ablation treatment.Moreover,it could also be used to accurately and noninvasively evaluate treatment efficacy.Jiaying Cao Peili Fan Feihang Wang Shuainan Shi Lingxiao Liu Zhiping Yan Yi Dong Wenping Wang 2022Journal of Interventional Medicine2022,5,1:3
4Grafting,metham sodium,soil solarization and virtually impermeable films as alternative technologies to methyl bromide for Chinese protected tomatoes显示文摘In the frame of the Sino-Italian Cooperation Program for Environmental Protection, jointly launched in the year 2000 by the Italian Ministry for Environment and Territory and Sea (IMETS) and the China State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA), experimental trials were carried out in Qingzhou city (Shandong Province, China) during 2001-2003 to test several methyl bromide alternative methods to control soilborne diseases in greenhouse tomatoes. Grafting tomatoes on resistant rootstock (Lycopersicon lycopersicum × L. hirsutum), metham sodium applied under traditional polyethylene plastic films, metham sodium applied at low rate under virtually impermeable films and soil solarization combined with biocontrol agents were the alternatives tested and compared to methyl bromide applied under virtually impermeable plastic films too. Collected data show that resistant rootstock (Lycopersicon lycopersicum × L. hirsutum) introduced from Italy is a promising alternative to methyl bromide for local tomato cultivars. Metham sodium applied under traditional polyethylene plastic films is an effective alternative. Moreover, virtually impermeable films demonstrate the help to reduce methyl bromide and metham sodium rates. 9Skeletochronological Study on Age Structure of a Chinese Endemic Frog(Rana omeimontis)显示文摘We used skeletochronology to estimate age structure of the Omei Wood Frog, Rana omeimontis, from southwestern China.Average age differed significantly between males and females.Age at sexual maturity in both males and females was 1 year. Longevity was 6 and 7 years for males and females, respectively. Average body size differed significantly between the sexes, with females being larger than males. A non-significant correlation between age and body size was found within each sex in this population. 10Wavelet analysis of the convectively-coupled equatorial waves显示文摘The spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of the main convectively-coupled equatorial waves were analyzed with the OLR data provided by NOAA and the method of wavelet analysis.The results indicate that the wavelet analysis can effectively distinguish MJO,Kelvin,ER,TD,and EMRG wave and the characteristics of their activities in 1992.The propagation speeds of MJO and ER wave are the slowest,following by Kelvin and TD wave and with MRG the fastest.The MJO from the Indian Ocean to the West Pacific Ocean,the Kelvin wave near the International Date Line,the ER and the TD wave around the West Pacific Ocean and the MRG in the eastern of the International Date Line have the biggest wave amplitude.The MJO in boreal winter and spring,the Kelvin wave in boreal spring and summer,the ER wave in boreal autumn,and the TD wave in boreal summer are active.The WMRG wave activates in boreal autumn,whereas EMRG wave appears year-round.These spatial and temporal characteristics agree well with the results of relevant theoretical studies,indicating that the wavelet analysis in the time-frequency domain is another effective method to reveal the evolution of convectively-coupled equatorial waves.CAO Jie WEN ZhiPing CHANG YouLi LI XiangRui 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,4:1

13Comparison of the Effects of the Different Methods for Computing the Slope Length Factor at a Watershed Scale显示文摘The slope length factor is one of the parameters of the Universal Soil Loss Equation(USLE)and the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation(RUSLE)and is sometimes calculated based on a digital elevation model(DEM).The methods for calculating the slope length factor are important because the values obtained may depend on the methods used for calculation.The purpose of this study was to compare the difference in spatial distribution of the slope length factor between the different methods at a watershed scale.One method used the uniform slope length factor equation(USLFE)where the effects of slope irregularities(such as slope gradient,etc.)on soil erosion by water were not considered.The other method used segmented slope length factor equation(SSLFE)which considered the effects of slope irregularities on soil erosion by water.The Arc Macro Language(AML)Version 4 program for the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE).which uses the USLFE,was chosen to calculate the slope length factor.In a parallel analysis,the AML code of RUSLE Version 4 was modified according to the SSLFE to calculate the slope length factor.Two watersheds with different slope and gully densities were chosen.The results show that the slope length factor and soil loss using the USLFE method were lower than those using the SSLFE method,especially on downslopes watershed with more frequent steep slopes and higher gully densities.In addition,the slope length factor and soil loss calculated by the USLFE showed less spatial variation.Fu Suhua Wu Zhiping Liu Baoyuan Cao Longxi 2013International Soil and Water Conservation Research2013,1,2:1

15Dynamic Response of Fluid-Single Leg Gravity Platform-Soil Interaction System显示文摘- An approximate method is presented to investigate the earthquake response of the fluid-single leg (shortened for S. L.) gravity platform-soil interaction system. By assuming a suitable form of the velocity potential of the radiation waves and by using the motion equation and the boundary conditions, the unknown coefficients can be obtained. Thereafter the function of frequency for the interaction system may also be obtained. 16Experimental and DFT Studies of Au Deposition Over WO_(3)/g-C_(3)N_(4) Z-Scheme Heterojunction显示文摘A typical Z-scheme system is composed of two photocatalysts which generate two sets of charge carriers and split water into H2 and O2 at different locations.Scientists are struggling to enhance the efficiencies of these systems by maximizing their light absorption,engineering more stable redox couples,and discovering new O2 and H2 evolutions co-catalysts.In this work,Au decorated WO3/g-C3N4 Z-scheme nanocomposites are fabricated via wet-chemical and photo-deposition methods.The nanocomposites are utilized in photocatalysis for H2 production and 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)degradation.It is investigated that the optimized 4Au/6%WO3/CN nanocomposite is highly efficient for production of 69.9 and 307.3μmol h−1 g−1 H2 gas,respectively,under visible-light(λ>420 nm)and UV–visible illumination.Further,the fabricated 4Au/6%WO3/CN nanocomposite is significant(i.e.,100%degradation in 2 h)for 2,4-DCP degradation under visible light and highly stable in photocatalysis.A significant 4.17%quantum efficiency is recorded for H2 production at wavelength 420 nm.This enhanced performance is attributed to the improved charge separation and the surface plasmon resonance effect of Au nanoparticles.Solid-state density functional theory simulations are performed to countercheck and validate our experimental data.Positive surface formation energy,high charge transfer,and strong non-bonding interaction via electrostatic forces confirm the stability of 4Au/6%WO3/CN interface.Muhammad Humayun Habib Ullah Junhao Cao Wenbo Pi Yang Yuan Sher Ali Asif Ali Tahir Pang Yue Abbas Khan Zhiping Zheng Qiuyun Fu Wei Luo 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,1:1
