1Wx^lv、the Ancestral Allele of Rice Waxy Gene显示文摘In rice grains,the Waxy (Wx) gene is responsible for the synthesis of amylose,the most important determinant for eating and cooking quality.The effects of several Wx alleles on amylose content and the taste of cooked rice have been elucidated.However,the relationship between artificial selection and the evolution of various Wx alleles as well as their distribution remain unclear.Here we report the identification of an ancestral allele,Wx^lv,which dramatically affects the mouthfeel of rice grains by modulating the size of amylose molecules.We demonstrated that WF originated directly from wild rice,and the three major Wx alleles in cultivated rice (Wx^b,Wx^a,and Wx^in) differentiated after the substitution of one base pair at the functional sites.These data indicate that the Wx^lv allele played an important role in artificial selection and domestication.The findings also shed light on the evolution of various Wx alleles,which have greatly contributed to improving the eating and cooking quality of rice.Changquan Zhang Jihui Zhu Shengjie Chen Xiaolei Fan Qianfeng Li Yan Lu Min Wang Hengxiu Yu Chuandeng Yi Shuzhu Tang Minghong Gu Qiaoquan Liu 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,8:22
2MIKC^(C)-type MADS-box genes in Rosa chinensis: the remarkable expansion of ABCDE model genes and their roles in floral organogenesis显示文摘MIKC^(C)-type MADS-box(MIKC^(C))genes encode transcription factors that have crucial roles in controlling floral organogenesis and flowering time in plants.Although this gene family has been well characterized in many plant species,its evolutionary and comprehensive functional analysis in rose is lacking.In this study,58 non-redundant MIKC^(C)uni-transcripts were extensively identified from rose transcriptomes.Phylogenetic analysis placed these genes into 12 clades with their Arabidopsis and strawberry counterparts,and revealed that ABCDE model(including AP1/FUL,AP3/PI,AG,and SEP clades),and SOC1 and AGL6 clade genes have remarkably expanded in Rosa chinensis,whereas genes from the FLC and AGL17 clades were undetectable.Sequence alignments suggest that the AP3/PI clade may contribute to more specific functions in rose due to a high variation of amino acid residues within its MADS-box domains.A comparative analysis of gene expression in specific floral organ differentiation stages and floral organs between R.chinensis cv.Old Blush and the closely related mutant genotype R.chinensis cv.Viridiflora(floral organs mutated into leaf-like structures)further revealed the roles of ABCDE model genes during floral organogenesis in rose.Analysis of co-expression networks provided an overview of the regulatory mechanisms of rose MIKC^(C)genes and shed light on both the prominent roles of AP3/PI clade genes in floral organogenesis and the roles of RcAGL19,RcAGL24,and RcSOC1 in regulating floral transition in rose.Our analyses provide an overall insight of MIKC^(C)genes in rose and their potential roles in floral organogenesis.Jinyi Liu Xiaodong Fu Yuwei Dong Jun Lu Min Ren Ningning Zhou Changquan Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:7

4OsbZIP09,a Unique OsbZIP Transcription Factor of Rice,Promotes Rather Than Suppresses Seed Germination by Attenuating Abscisic Acid Pathway显示文摘We successfully identified a novel and unique OsbZIP transcription factor,OsbZIP09,whose mutants exhibited longer seeds and less severe pre-harvest sprouting than the wild type,but shared similar germination rate as the wild type under normal germination conditions.The expression of OsbZIP09 was induced by abscisic acid(ABA)and declined as the germination process.As a nucleus-localized transcription factor,the conserved binding motif of OsbZIP09 was identified via DNA affinity purification sequencing technique.Further evidences indicated that OsbZIP09 directly enhanced the expression of ABA catabolism gene ABA8ox1,thus reducing ABA accumulation.In addition,OsbZIP09 also directly bound to the promoter of LEA3 gene to inhibit its expression,thus further alleviating the suppressive effect of ABA on seed germination.These results demonstrated that OsbZIP09 likely functions as a brake of the ABA pathway to attenuate the inhibitory effect of ABA on rice seed germination via dual strategies.Wang Chuxin Zhu Chengchao Zhou Yu Xiong Min Wang Jindong Bai Huang Lu Chenya Zhang Changquan Liu Qiaoquan Li Qianfeng 2021Rice science2021,28,4:1

11KSN heterozygosity is associated with continuous flowering of Rosa rugosa Purple branch显示文摘Rose(Rosa spp.)plants flower via two contrasting methods:once flowering(OF)and continuous flowering(CF).Purple branch is a rare continuously flowering variety of Rosa rugosa that is extensively cultivated in China.However,the genetic basis of its CF behavior is unknown.We demonstrated that Purple branch is heterozygous for the TFL1 homolog KSN.One KSN allele with a 9kb Copia insertion was found to be identical to that from continuously flowering Rosa chinensis Old blush.The other allele was found to be a functional wild-type allele.The overall expression of KSN was closely linked to the floral transition,and it was significantly repressed in continuously flowering Purple branch compared with OF Plena.The promoter region of the normal KSN allele was hypermethylated,and histone methylation at H3H4,H3K9,and H3K27 of the KSN gene locus was modified in continuously flowering Purple branch.Silencing of the DNA methyltransferase genes MET1 and CMT3 and the histone methyltransferase gene SUVR5 in Purple branch led to enhanced KSN expression,but silencing of the histone demethylase gene JMJ12 suppressed KSN expression.Therefore,the CF habit of Purple branch may be due to reduced expression of KSN caused by the halved dose and may be associated with epigenetic modifications together with retrotransposon insertions along the chromosome.Our study revealed a novel mechanism underlying the CF behavior of rose plants.Mengjuan Bai Jinyi Liu Chunguo Fan Yeqing Chen Hui Chen Jun Lu Jingjing Sun Guogui Ning Changquan Wang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:1

14High-throughput sequencing to evaluate the effects of methamphetamine on the succession of the bacterial community to estimate the postmortem interval显示文摘In forensic medical examinations,estimating the postmortem interval(PMI)is an important factor.Methamphetamine(MA)is a synthetic stimulant that is commonly abused,and estimation of the PMI after MA abuse has become one of the main tasks in forensic investigation.Microorganisms play a vital role in carrion decomposition.Analysing the bacterial succession patterns can be used as a forensic tool to estimate the PMI.The present study aimed to analyse bacterial succession changes during the decomposition of MA to estimate the PMI.We analysed bacterial communities in rabbits treated with three different concentrations of MA(0,22.5,and 90 mg/kg)under the natural conditions of 20°C and 70%humidity by sequencing 16S rRNA gene amplicons using the Illumina MiSeq system.We obtained 2374209 high-quality sequences and 2937 operational taxonomic units(OTUs).The relative abundances of the bacterial communities varied markedly in response to different MA concentrations.Interestingly,in response to the different concentrations of MA,Bacteroidetes became disparate in the rectum in the late PMI.Increased numbers of bacterial taxa were identified in the rectum and buccal cavity samples,except at the highest concentration of MA in the rectum samples when PMI was 0-h,than were present in live rabbits.Meanwhile,the PMI correlated significantly with bacterial succession at different taxonomic levels.Our results suggested that bacterial community succession could be used as a“microbial clock”to estimate the PMI in cases of MA-related death;however,further study is required to gain a deeper understanding of this concept.Shujuan Wang Wei Chen Yanjie Shang Lipin Ren Xiangyan Zhang Yadong Guo Changquan Zhang 2022Forensic Sciences Research2022,7,4:0
15Additive manufactured polyether-ether-ketone implants for orthopaedic applications:a narrative review显示文摘Polyether-ether-ketone(PEEK)is believed to be the next-generation biomedical material for orthopaedic implants that may replace metal materials because of its good biocompatibility,appropriate mechanical properties and radiolucency.Currently,some PEEK implants have been used successfully for many years.However,there is no customised PEEK orthopaedic implant made by additive manufacturing licensed for the market,although clinical trials have been increasingly reported.In this review article,design criteria,including geometric matching,functional restoration,strength safety,early fixation,long-term stability and manufacturing capability,are summarised,focusing on the clinical requirements.An integrated framework of design and manufacturing processes to create customised PEEK implants is presented,and several typical clinical applications such as cranioplasty patches,rib prostheses,mandibular prostheses,scapula prostheses and femoral prostheses are described.The main technical challenge faced by PEEK orthopaedic implants lies in the poor bonding with bone and soft tissue due to its biological inertness,which may be solved by adding bioactive fillers and manufacturing porous architecture.The lack of technical standards is also one of the major factors preventing additive-manufactured customised PEEK orthopaedic implants from clinical translation,and it is good to see that the abundance of standards in the field of additive-manufactured medical devices is helping them enter the clinical market.Changning Sun Jianfeng Kang Chuncheng Yang Jibao Zheng Yanwen Su Enchun Dong Yingjie Liu Siqi Yao Changquan Shi Huanhao Pang Jiankang He Ling Wang Chaozong Liu Jianhua Peng Liang Liu Yong Jiang Dichen Li 2022Biomaterials Translational2022,3,2:0
16Application of New Water Flooding Characteristic Curve in the High Water-Cut Stage of an Oilfield显示文摘The oil production predicted by means of the conventional water-drive characteristic curve is typically affected by large deviations with respect to the actual value when the so-called high water-cut stage is entered.In order to solve this problem,a new characteristic relationship between the relative permeability ratio and the average water saturation is proposed.By comparing the outcomes of different matching methods,it is verified that it can well reflect the variation characteristics of the relative permeability ratio curve.Combining the new formula with a reservoir engineering method,two new formulas are derived for the water flooding characteristic curve in the high water-cut stage.Their practicability is verified by using the production data of Mawangmiao and Xijiakou blocks.The results show that the error between the predicted cumulative oil production and production data of the two new water drive characteristic curves is less than the error between the B-type water drive characteristic curve and the other two water drive characteristic curves.It is concluded that the two new characteristic curves can be used to estimate more accurately the recoverable reserves,the final recovery and to estimate the effects of water flooding.Xi Zhang Changquan Wang Hua Wu Xu Zhao 2022Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,3:0
17The Formation and Evolution of the Lujiang-Zongyang Volcano-Structural Depression in Anhui and Its Relation to Mineralization显示文摘The Lujiang-Zongyang volcano-structural depression resulted from the combined action of tectonism and volcanism. Its evolution progressed through five stages from 190 to 105 Ma B.P., during which nine types of metal and pyrite deposits were formed. These deposits show obvious regularities in the temporal-spatial distribution and have certain genetic relation, forming a minerogenetic series related to shoshonite within or around the volcano-structural depression on the basement that sank for a long period of time. 18不能切除肝癌长期生存患者的临床分析(英文)显示文摘Objective:The objectives of this study were to evaluate the long-term results with multimodality therapy, and to clarify the clinicopathologic of features of patients surviving ≥ 3 years for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:Between 1999 and 2003, a total of 166 patients underwent multimodality therapy for unresectable HCC.All patients underwent multimodality therapy, such as transarterial chemoembolization(TACE), chemotherapy, local ablative therapy, and/ or Chinese traditional medicine.Thirty-nine(23.5%) patients survival ≥ 1 years, and 10(6.0%) patients survived ≥ 3 years.These 39 patients surviving over 1 year were investigated in this study.Eighteen clinical and biologic variables were assessed using univariate and multivariate analyses.Results:TNM staging and tumor extension were isolated by univariate analysis.Only tumor extension was independent risk factors by multiple regression analysis.Of these, 25.6%(10 of 39) survived over 3 years.These 10 patients surviving over 3 years were investigated further.By the end of June 2004, follow-up varied from 3 years and 2 months to 5 years and 1 month.Six patients were still alive with free of disease.Conclusion:Tumor extension was demonstrated to be prognostic of long-term survivors.Multimodality therapy may make a major contribution to achieving long-term survival in patients with unresectable HCC.Baihong Zhang Xianghui Wang Hongyun Yue Changquan Ling 2010The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2010,9,3:0
