| 1 | Histological Subtypes of Lung Cancer in Chinese Males from 2000 to 2012显示文摘Objective To characterize the histological and epidemiological features of male lung cancer patients in China. Methods The demographic and histological information about male lung cancer patients identified from 2000-01-01 to 2012-12-31,was collected from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Relative frequencies(RF) were estimated for major histological subtypes and compared according to the years of diagnosis and birth. Results The RF of adenocarcinoma(ADC) increased from 21.96% to 43.36% and the RF of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) decreased from 39.11% to 32.23% from 2000 to 2012 in the 15 427 male lung cancer patients included in this study(Z=17.909,P<0.0001; Z=-6.117,P<0.0001). The RF of ADC increased from 28.72% in 2000-2004,36.88% in 2005-2008 to 48.61% in 2009-2012 in patients born after 1960. The age-adjusted RF of ADC in 2007-2012 increased consistently in all the investigated areas. Conclusion The increased RF of ADC in male lung cancer patients highlights the need for further investigation of the etiologic factors of these tumors. | 2 | Age-related macular degeneration: Epidemiology, genetics, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and targeted therapy显示文摘Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a complex eye disorder and is the leading cause of incurable blindness worldwide in the elderly. Clinically, AMD initially affects the central area of retina known as the macula and it is classified as early stage to late stage (advanced AMD). The advanced AMD is classified into the nonexudative or atrophic form (dry AMD) and the exudative or neovascular form (wet AMD). More severe vision loss is typically associated with the wet form. Multiple genetic factors, lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and aging, play a role in the etiology of AMD. Dysregulation in genetic to AMD is established to 46%–71% of disease contribution, with CFH and ARMS2/HTRA1 to be the two most notable risk loci among the 103 identified AMD associated loci so far. Chronic cigarette smoking is the most proven consistently risk living habits for AMD. Deep learning algorithm has been developed based on image recognition to distinguish wet AMD and normal macula with high accuracy. Currently, anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy is highly effective at treating wet AMD. | 3 | Wheel/rail dynamic interaction due to excitation of rail corrugation in high-speed railway显示文摘Characteristics of wheel-rail dynamic interaction due to the rail corrugation in a high-speed railway are analyzed based on the theory of vehicle-track coupled dynamics in this paper.Influences of the corrugation wavelength and depth on the wheel-rail dynamic performance are investigated.The results show that,under the excitation of a measured rail corrugation,the wheel-rail dynamic interaction of high-speed railway is enhanced obviously,and the high-frequency dynamic force between wheel and rail is generated,which has an obvious impact on the vibrations of the wheelset and rail,and little effect on the vibration of the frame and carbody.If the corrugation wavelength is shorter than the sensitive wavelength,the wheel-rail vertical force will increase with the growth of the corrugation wavelength,otherwise,it will decrease.However,the wheel-rail vertical force keeps increasing with the growth of corrugation depth.Furthermore,if the corrugation wavelength is shorter than the sensitive wavelength,the wheel-rail vertical force will increase with the decrease of the running speed,otherwise,it will decrease.It is also found that the critical wavelength of corrugation increases with the growth of the corrugation depth and the running speed,and the critical depth of corrugation is nonlinearly related to the sensitive wavelength. | WANG Kai Yun LIU Peng Fei ZHAI Wan Ming HUANG Chao CHEN Zai Gang GAO JianMin | 2015 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,2: | 17 |
| 4 | An Integrated Cyber-Physical Simulation Environment for Smart Grid Applications显示文摘The concept of Cyber-Physical Systems(CPSs),which combine computation,networking,and physical processes,is considered to be beneficial to smart grid applications. This study presents an integrated simulation environment to provide a unified platform for the investigation of smart grid applications involving power grid monitoring,communication,and control. In contrast to the existing approaches,this environment allows the network simulator to operate independently,importing its results to the power system simulation. This resolves conflicts between discrete event simulation and continuous simulation. In addition,several data compensation methods are proposed and investigated under different network delay conditions. | 5 | Aerothermal-aeroelastic two-way coupling method for hypersonic curved panel flutter显示文摘A method to compute aerothermal-aeroelastic two-way coupling for hypersonic curved panel flutter is proposed.The aero-thermo-elastic governing equations of a simply-supported two dimensional curved panel are developed based on the von K'arm'an geometrically non-linear theory.The Galerkin approach is used to simplify the equations into discrete forms,which are solved by the fourth-order Ronger-Kutta method.The third-order piston theory is applied to the aerodynamics.The Eckert's reference temperature method and the panel heat flux formula are used to compute the aerodynamic heat flux.Several important effects are included,namely 1) two-way coupling considering the effect of elastic deformation on aerodynamic heating and aerodynamic heating on stiffness of structure,2) accumulation of the aerodynamic heating in real cruise,3) arbitrary,non-uniform,in-plane and through-thickness temperature distributions,and 4) the effect of initial deformation of curved panel on the flight time to the onset of flutter.Compared with the results of aerothermal-aeroelastic one-way coupling,it is revealed that the two-way coupling which induces decrease of the flight time to the onset of flutter is more dangerous.In addition,importance should be attached to this method in actual analysis. | YANG Chao LI GuoShu WAN ZhiQiang | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,3: | 11 |
| 6 | Effects of recombinant retroviral vector mediated human insulin like growth factor-1 gene transfection on skeletal muscle growth in rat显示文摘Background This study transferred a recombinant gene encoding human insulin like growth factor-1 (hIGF-1) into modified primary skeletal myoblasts with a retroviral vector (pLgXSN ) and determined whether the hIGF-1 promoted growth of skeletal muscle in rat. Methods hIGF-1cDNA was amplified in vitro from normal human liver cells by using RT-PCR and cloned into plasmid vector pLgXSN. The recombinant vector pLghIGF-1SN and control vector pLgGFPSN were transfected into packaging cell PT67 and G418 was used to select positive colony. Myoblasts were infected with a high titre viral supernatant and transduction efficiency was evaluated as GFP expression. The expression of hIGF-1 mRNA in myoblasts was investigated by immunocytochemistry and RT-PCR. MTT assays detected the growth of myoblasts in vitro. Myoblasts transduced with pLghIGF-1SN were injected into hind limb muscles of 10-12 week male SD rats. Formed tissues were harvested 4 weeks later. Myocyte diameter, mean weight of hind limb and body were measured to evaluate the skeletal muscle growth. Results Recombinant retroviral plasmid vector pLghIGF-1SN was constructed successfully. The titre of the packaged recombinant retrovirus was 1×106 cfu/ml. The transfection rate of PT67 cells reached 100% after G418 screening. hIGF-1 expression was positive in myoblast-IGF-1. The proliferation rate of myoblast-IGF-1 in vitro was higher than GFP-myoblast or myoblast (P< 0.05). The mean weights of hind limb and body of rats injected myoblast-IGF-1 were higher than those of the rats injected with myoblast-GFP or myoblast (P< 0.05). Myocyte diameter had a significant increase in IGF-1 group compared to GFP group and myoblast group (P< 0.05). Conclusions The transfection of the human IGF-1 gene mediated by a retroviral vector can promote the growth of skeletal muscle in rats. | 7 | Aeroelastic optimization on composite skins of large aircraft wings显示文摘This paper presents studies of aeroelastic optimization on composite skins of large aircraft wings subject to aeroelastic constraints and strength/strain constraints. The design variable for optimization was the ply thickness of the wing skin panels, and the structural weight was the objective function to be minimised. The impacts of three strength/strain constraints and the ply proportion of the wing skin panels on the optimization results are discussed. The results indicate that the optimal composite wings that satisfy different constraints have remarkable weight advantages over metal wing. High levels of stiffness can be achieved while satisfying the constraints regarding allowable design strains and failure criteria. | 8 | A method for static aeroelastic analysis based on the high-order panel method and modal method显示文摘A method for static aeroelastic analysis based on the high-order panel method and modal method is presented. The static aeroelastic characteristics of flexible wings are investigated using this method. Three-dimensional aerodynamic models of flexible wings are constructed based on the geometry of wing configuration, and the modal method is adopted to achieve the fluid-structure coupling. The static aeroelastic characteristics of the AGARD445.6 wing and a low-aspect-ratio wing are investigated in this study. The influences of elastic structural deformation on aerodynamic forces are studied with an emphasis analyzing the aerodynamic coefficients, wing root loads, structural deformation and pressure distribution of different sections, and results are compared with the results from wind-tunnel tests and the elastic results based on experimental aerodynamic forces. It is concluded that aerodynamic forces can be accurately calculated with the high-order panel method. The method presented in this study is feasible, credible and efficient. | 11 | Aeroelastic optimization design for wing with maneuver load uncertainties显示文摘An aeroelastic optimization design methodology for air vehicle considering the uncertainties in maneuver load conditions is presented and applied to a structural design process of low-aspect-ratio wing. An aerodynamic load correction model is developed and used to predict the critical load conditions with the perturbations of theoretical linear aerodynamic forces and experimental aerodynamic forces from wind-tunnel test, when concerning the uncertainties in use of theoretical linear and experimental aerodynamic forces. Three objective functions of critical loads are defined. The load evaluations for three wing sections are investigated in four characteristic maneuvers, and the most critical load conditions are confirmed by using the sequential quadratic programming method. On this basis, the aeroelastic optimization design employing the genetic-gradient hybrid algorithm is conducted, in which the objective is to minimize structural mass subject to the constraints of stress, deformation and flutter speed. The resulting optimal structure is heavier than the one simply based on the theoretical linear or experimental aerodynamic forces. | 13 | Appropriately adapted properties of hot-extruded Zn-0.5Cu-xFe alloys aimed for biodegradable guided bone regeneration membrane application显示文摘Appropriately adapted comprehensive mechanical properties,degradation behavior and biocompatibility are prerequisites for the application of Zn-based biodegradable implants.In this study,hot-extruded Zn-0.5Cu-xFe(x=0.1,0.2 and 0.4 wt%)alloys were fabricated as candidates for biodegradable materials for guided bone regeneration(GBR)membranes.The hot-extrusion process and Cu alloying were expected mostly to enhance the mechanical properties,and the Fe alloying was added mainly for regulating the degradation.The microstructure,mechanical properties and in vitro degradation behavior were systematically investigated.The ZnCuFe alloys were composed of a Zn matrix and FeZn13 phase.With increasing Fe content,a higher FeZn13 phase precipitation with larger particles was observed.Since elongation declined significantly until fracture with increasing Fe content up to 0.4 wt%,the ZnCuFe(0.2 wt%)alloy achieved a good balance between mechanical strength and ductility,with an ultimate tensile strength of 202.3 MPa and elongation at fracture of 41.2%.Moreover,the addition of Fe successfully accelerated the degradation of ZnCuFe alloys.The ZnCuFe(0.2 wt%)alloy showed relatively uniform corrosion in the long-term degradation test.Furthermore,extracts of the ZnCuFe(0.2 wt%)alloy showed no apparent cytotoxic effects against L929 fibroblasts,Saos-2 osteoblasts or TAg periosteal cells.The ZnCuFe(0.2 wt%)alloy exhibited the potential to inhibit bacterial adhesion of Streptococcus gordonii and mixed oral bacteria.Our study provides evidence that the ZnCuFe(0.2 wt%)alloy can represent a promising material for the application as a suitable GBR membrane. | Wentai Zhang Ping Li Gang Shen Xiaoshan Mo Chao Zhou Dorothea Alexander Frank Rupp Jürgen Geis-Gerstorfer Haijun Zhang Guojiang Wan | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,4: | 6 |
| 14 | Dual-lens beam compression for optical coupling in superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors显示文摘The optical coupling of superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors(SNSPDs) has always been restricted to a single-mode fiber for a limited detection area. In this study, for enhancing photon coupling, a dual-lens system operating at 2.2 K was used to compress the beam size on the basis of the Gaussian beam theory and geometric approximation. A magnification of approximately 0.3 was obtained, and a focused spot with diameter of approximately 10 lm was measured from a multimode fiber. Assisted with the compressed beam, a system efficiency of 55 %(1550 nm) was achieved for a SNSPD with a detection area of 10 lm 9 10 lm and 62.5 lm multimode fiber coupling. At the same time, a high speed of106 MHz was measured with the proposed system. | 16 | Microsurgical subinguinal varicocelectomy with spermatic cord double traction and vein stripping显示文摘We retrospectively reviewed data for 286 patients with varicocele who underwent microsurgical subinguinal varicocelectomy from March 2015 to May 2017 in Shanghai General Hospital(Shanghai,China).In this surgical approach,the testis was delivered,and the gubernacular and external cremasteric veins were stripped.In addition,the spermatic cord was delivered downward with continuous double traction away from the external ring.The remaining procedure was similar to the conventional approach.We followed patients for at least 3 months and evaluated postoperative semen parameters,pain symptoms,and complications.We excluded data for 32 men due to inadequate follow-up(<3 months).Of the remaining 254 patients,73 had oligoasthenospermia,121 had nonobstructive azoospermia,and 60 had symptomatic varicoceles.Total progressive sperm counts increased in the oligoasthenospermic patients from a median preoperative value of 9.15×10^6 ml^?1 to 25.33×10^6 ml^?1(n=34),and 35.6%(26/73)initially oligoasthenospermic men contributed to unassisted pregnancies.Sperm returned to the ejaculate in 12.4%(15/121)azoospermia patients.In patients with scrotal pain(n=60),43(71.7%)reported complete resolution of pain,16(26.7%)reported partial resolution,and 1(1.7%)reported no change.No patients experienced varicocele recurrence.This doubletraction strategy avoids opening the external oblique aponeurosis,and results in less damage and faster recovery.In addition,the stripping strategy eliminates potential damage to the testis caused by the varicose veins.Our results showed that microsurgical subinguinal varicocelectomy using spermatic cord double traction in conjunction with testicular delivery for vein stripping is a safe and effective approach for varicocele repair. | Ru-Hui Tian Liang-Yu Zhao Hui-Xing Chen Chao Yang Peng Li Yu-Hua Huang Zhong Wan Er-Lei Zhi Chen-Cheng Yao Zheng Li | 2020 | Asian Journal of Andrology2020,22,2: | 6 |
| 17 | Drug-eluting fully covered self-expanding metal stent for dissolution of bile duct stones in vitro显示文摘BACKGROUND The treatment of difficult common bile duct stones(CBDS)remains a big challenge around the world.Biliary stenting is a widely accepted rescue method in patients with failed stone extraction under endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.Fully covered self-expanding metal stent(FCSEMS)has gained increasing attention in the management of difficult CBDS.AIM To manufacture a drug-eluting FCSEMS,which can achieve controlled release of stone-dissolving agents and speed up the dissolution of CBDS.METHODS Customized covered nitinol stents were adopted.Sodium cholate(SC)and disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA disodium,EDTA for short)were used as stone-dissolving agents.Three different types of drug-eluting stents were manufactured by dip coating(Stent I),coaxial electrospinning(Stent II),and dip coating combined with electrospinning(Stent III),respectively.The drugrelease behavior and stone-dissolving efficacy of these stents were evaluated in vitro to sort out the best manufacturing method.And the selected stonedissolving stents were further put into porcine CBD to evaluate their biosecurity.RESULTS Stent I and Stent II had obvious burst release of drugs in the first 5 d while Stent III presented controlled and sustainable drug release for 30 d.In still buffer,the final stone mass-loss rate of each group was 5.19%±0.69%for naked FCSEMS,20.37%±2.13%for Stent I,24.57%±1.45%for Stent II,and 33.72%±0.67%for Stent III.In flowing bile,the final stone mass-loss rate of each group was 5.87%±0.25%for naked FCSEMS,6.36%±0.48%for Stent I,6.38%±0.37%for Stent II,and 8.15%±0.27%for Stent III.Stent III caused the most stone mass-loss no matter in still buffer or in flowing bile,which was significantly higher than those of other groups(P<0.05).In vivo,Stent III made no difference from naked FCSEMS in serological analysis(P>0.05)and histopathological examination(P>0.05).CONCLUSION The novel SC and EDTA-eluting FCSEMS is efficient in diminishing CBDS in vitro.When conventional endoscopic techniques fail to remove difficult CBDS,SC and EDTA-eluting FCSEMS implantation may be considered a promising alternative. | Chao Huang Xiao-Bo Cai Li-Li Guo Xiao-Sheng Qi Qiang Gao Xin-Jian Wan | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,26: | 6 |
