| 1 | Entecavir vs lamivudine therapy for na?ve patients with spontaneous reactivation of hepatitis B presenting as acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘AIM:To investigate the short-term and long-term efficacy of entecavir versus lamivudine in patients with spontaneous reactivation of hepatitis B presenting as acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF).METHODS:This was a single center,prospective cohort study.Eligible,consecutive hospitalized patients received either entecavir 0.5 mg/d or lamivudine 100mg/d.All patients were given standard comprehensive internal medicine.The primary endpoint was survival rate at day 60,and secondary endpoints were reduction in hepatitis B virus(HBV)DNA and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)levels,and improvement in Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP)and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)scores at day 60 and survival rate at week 52.RESULTS:One hundred and nineteen eligible subjects were recruited from 176 patients with severe acute exacerbation of chronic hepatitis B:65 were included in the entecavir group and 54 in the lamivudine group(full analysis set).No significant differences were found in patient baseline clinical parameters.At day 60,entecavir did not improve the probability of survival(P=0.066),despite resulting in faster virological suppression(P<0.001),higher rates of virological response(P<0.05)and greater reductions in the CTP and MELD scores(all P<0.05)than lamivudine.Intriguingly,at week 52,the probability of survival was higher in the entecavir group than in the lamivudine group[42/65(64.6%)vs 26/54(48.1%),respectively;P=0.038].The pretreatment MELD score(B,1.357;95%Cl:2.138-7.062;P=0.000)and virological response at day30(B,1.556;95%Cl:1.811-12.411;P=0.002),were found to be good predictors for 52-wk survival.CONCLUSION:Entecavir significantly reduced HBV DNA levels,decreased the CTP and MELD scores,and thereby improved the long-term survival rate in patients with spontaneous reactivation of hepatitis B presenting as ACLF. | Yang Zhang Xiao-Yu Hu Sen Zhong Fang Yang Tao-You Zhou Guo Chen Yan-Yan Wang Jian-Xing Luo | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,16: | 42 |
| 2 | New vacuum solar telescope and observations with high resolution显示文摘The New Vacuum Solar Telescope(NVST) is a one meter vacuum solar telescope that aims to observe fine structures on the Sun. The main goals of NVST are high resolution imaging and spectral observations, including measurements of the solar magnetic field. NVST is the primary ground-based facility used by the Chinese solar research community in this solar cycle. It is located by Fuxian Lake in southwest China, where the seeing is good enough to perform high resolution observations. We first introduce the general conditions at the Fuxian Solar Observatory and the primary science cases of NVST. Then, the basic structures of this telescope and instruments are described in detail. | 5 | Incidence of infectious complications is associated with a high mortality in patients with hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘BACKGROUND In China,hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is the most common liver failure characterized by serious clinical syndromes of liver decompensation with a very high mortality.Bacterial and/or fungal infections are the most common complications that are associated with high short-term mortality.Bacterial translocation from the intestine,impaired hepatic clearance,and immune paralysis of circulating immune cells are thought to contribute to infectious complications in liver failure.The control of bacterial and fungal infections is the key to improving HBV-ACLF outcomes.Active prevention,early diagnosis,and timely treatment of bacterial and fungal infections are essential for treating HBV-ACLF.AIM To investigate the frequency and role of bacterial and fungal infections in patients with HBV-ACLF.METHODS Patients with HBV-ACLF hospitalized at Taihe Hospital,Hubei University of Medicine from January 2014 to December 2017 were retrospectively enrolled.Patient-related information was retrieved from the hospital case database,including general information,blood biochemistry,complications,etc.According to the occurrence of secondary infection or not,the patients were divided into an infection group and a non-infection group.The sites,types,and incidences of bacterial and fungal infections and the influence of infections on the prognosis of HBV-ACLF were statistically analyzed.The risk factors for infections were assessed by unconditional logistic regression.RESULTS There were 174 cases of HBV-ACLF that met the enrollment criteria,of which 114 (65.52%) were diagnosed with infectious complications.Infections occurred in the abdominal cavity (87 cases),respiratory tract (51 cases),urinary tract (18 cases),and biliary tract (10 cases).Patients with infectious complications had a significantly higher 28-d mortality (70.18%,80/114) than those without (40.00%,24/60)(70.18% vs 40.00%,P < 0.05).And patients with infectious complications had a much higher incidence of non-infectious complications (54.39%,62/114)(54.39% vs 15.00%,P < 0.05),leading to an extremely high 28-d mortality of 88.71%(55/62)(P < 0.05).The grade of liver failure,period of hospital stay ≥ 30 d,age ≥ 45 years,and percentage of neutrophils > 70% were identified as risk factors for infectious complications.CONCLUSION The high incidence of infectious complications in patients with HBV-ACLF is associated with severity and deterioration of the disease and may contribute to the extremely high mortality of these patients. | Chen Wang De-Qiang Ma Sen Luo Chuan-Min Wang De-Ping Ding You-You Tian Kang-Jian Ao Yin-Hua Zhang Yue Chen Zhong-Ji Meng | 2019 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,16: | 18 |

| 7 | Salvianolic acid A prevented cerebrovascular endothelial injury caused by acute ischemic stroke through inhibiting the Src signaling pathway显示文摘Stroke is an acute cerebrovascular disease caused by ruptured or blocked blood vessels.For the prevention of ischemic stroke,the coagulation state of blood and cerebrovascular protection should be considered.Our previous study has shown that salvianolic acid A(SAA),which is a water-soluble component from the root of Salvia Miltiorrhiza Bge,prevents thrombosis with a mild inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation.In this study we investigated the preventive effects of SAA on cerebrovascular endothelial injury caused by ischemia in vivo and oxygen-glucose deprivation(OGD)in vitro,and explored the underlying mechanisms.An autologous thrombus stroke model was established in SD rats by electrocoagulation.SAA(10 mg/kg)was orally administered twice a day for 5 days before the operation.The rats were sacrificed at 24 h after the operation.We showed that pretreatment with SAA significantly improved the neurological deficits,intracerebral hemorrhage,BBB disruption,and vascular endothelial dysfunction as compared with model group.In human brain microvascular endothelial cells(HBMECs),pretreatment with SAA(10μM)significantly inhibited OGD-induced cell viability reduction and degradation of tight junction proteins(ZO-1,occludin,claudin-5).Furthermore,we found that SAA inhibited the upregulation of Src signaling pathway in vivo and vitro and reversed the increased expression of matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs)after ischemic stroke.In conclusion,our results suggest that SAA protects cerebrovascular endothelial cells against ischemia and OGD injury via suppressing Src signaling pathway.These findings show that pretreatment with SAA is a potential therapeutic strategy for the prevention of ischemic stroke. | Cheng-di Liu Nan-nan Liu Sen Zhang Guo-dong Ma Hai-guang Yang Ling-lei Kong Guan-hua Du | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,3: | 15 |

| 9 | Spatial distribution prediction and benefits assessment of green manure in the Pinggu District,Beijing,based on the CLUE-S model显示文摘Green manure use in China has declined rapidly since the 1980 s with the extensive use of chemical fertilizers.The deterioration of field environments and the demand for green agricultural products have resulted in more attention to green manure.Human intervention and policy-oriented behaviors likely have large impacts on promoting green manure planting.However,little information is available regarding on where,at what rates,and in which ways(i.e.,intercropping green manure in orchards or rotating green manure in cropland) to develop green manure and what benefits could be gained by incorporating green manure in fields at the county scale.This paper presents the conversion of land use and its effects at small region extent(CLUE-S) model,which is specifically developed for the simulation of land use changes originally,to predict spatial distribution of green manure in cropland and orchards in 2020 in Pinggu District located in Beijing,China.Four types of land use for planting or not planting green manure were classified and the future land use dynamics(mainly croplands and orchards) were considered in the prediction.Two scenarios were used to predict the spatial distribution of green manure based on data from 2011:The promotion of green manure planting in orchards(scenario 1) and the promotion of simultaneous green manure planting in orchards and croplands(scenario 2).The predictions were generally accurate based on the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) and Kappa indices,which validated the effectiveness of the CLUE-S model in the prediction.In addition,the spatial distribution of the green manure was acquired,which indicated that green manure mainly located in the orchards of the middle and southern regions of Dahuashan,the western and southern regions of Wangxinzhuang,the middle region of Shandongzhuang,the eastern region of Pinggu and the middle region of Xiagezhuang under scenario 1.Green manure planting under scenario 2 occurred in orchards in the middle region of Wangxinzhuang,and croplands in most regions of Daxingzhuang,southern Pinggu,northern Xiagezhuang and most of Mafang.The spatially explicit results allowed for the assessment of the benefits of these changes based on different economic and ecological indicators.The economic and ecological gains of scenarios 1 and 2 were 175691 900 and143000 300 CNY,respectively,which indicated that the first scenario was more beneficial for promoting the same area of green manure.These results can facilitate policies of promoting green manure and guide the extensive use of green manure in local agricultural production in suitable ways. | ZHANG Li-ping ZHANG Shi-wen ZHOU Zhi-ming HOU Sen HUANG Yuan-fang CAO Wei-dong | 2016 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016,15,2: | 13 |
| 10 | Dynamic compression characteristics of layered rock mass of significant strength changes in adjacent layers显示文摘Layered rock mass of significant strength changes for adjacent layers is frequently observed in underground excavation,and dynamic loading is a prevalent scenario generated during excavation.In order to improve the driving efficiency and reduce engineering accidents,dynamic compression characteristics of this kind of rock mass should be understood.The dynamic properties of a layered composite rock mass are investigated through a series of rock tests and numerical simulations.The rock mass is artificially made of various proportions of sand,cement and water to control the distinct strength variations at various composite layers separated by parallel bedding planes.All rock specimens are prefabricated in a specially designed mould and then cut into 50 mm in diameter and 50 mm in height for split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)dynamic compression testing.The test results reveal that increasing strain rate causes the increases of peak strength,σ_p,and the corresponding failure strain,ε_p,while the dynamic elastic modulus,E_d,remains almost unchanged.Interestingly,under the same strain rates,Ed of the composite rock specimen is found to decline first and then increase as the dip angle of bedding plane increases.The obtained rock failure patterns due to various dip angles lead to failure modes that could be classified into four categories from our dynamic tests.Also,a series of counterpart numerical simulations has been undertaken,showing that dynamic responses are in good agreement with those obtained from the SHPB tests.The numerical analysis enables us to Iook into the dynamic characteristics of the composite rock mass subjected to a broader range of strain rates and dip angles than these being tested. | Sen Wen Chunshun Zhang Yulin Chang Ping Hu | 2020 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,2: | 13 |

| 12 | Th22 cell accumulation is associated with colorectal cancer development显示文摘AIM: To investigate the expression of Th22 cells and related cytokines in colorectal cancer(CRC) tissues, and the probably mechanism.METHODS: CRC tumor and paratumor tissues were collected to detect the expression levels of Th22 cells and of related cytokines by immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR).Interleukin(IL)-22 alone or with a STAT3 inhibitor was co-cultured with RKO cells in vitro to study the effects of IL-22 on colon cancer cells.IL-22 alone or with a STAT3 inhibitor was injected into a BALB/c nude mouse model with subcutaneously transplanted RKO cells to study the effects of IL-22 on colon cancer growth.RESULTS: The percentage of Th22 cells in the CD4+ T subset was significantly higher in tumor tissues compared with that in paratumor tissues(1.47% ± 0.083% vs 1.23% ± 0.077%, P < 0.05) as determined by flow cytometry.RT-qP CR analysis revealed that the m RNA expression levels of IL-22, aryl hydrocarbon receptor, CCL20 and CCL22 were significantly higher in tumor tissues compared with those in paratumor tissues.CCL27 mR NA also displayed a higher expression level in tumor tissues compared with that in paratumor tissues; however, these levels were not significantly different(2.58 ± 0.93 vs 2.30 ± 0.78, P > 0.05).IL-22 enhanced colon cancer cell proliferation in vitro and displayed anti-apoptotic effects; these effects were blocked by adding a STAT3 inhibitor.IL-22 promoted tumor growth in BALB/c nude mice; however, this effect was reversed by adding a STAT3 inhibitor.CONCLUSION: Th22 cells that accumulate in CRC may be associated with the chemotactic effect of the tumor microenvironment.IL-22 is associated with CRC development, most likely via STAT3 activation. | Yong-Hong Huang Yun-Fei Cao Zhi-Yuan Jiang Sen Zhang Feng Gao | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,14: | 12 |
| 13 | Genetic alterations and expression of inhibitor of growth 1 in human sporadic colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM: To explore the effect and significance of inhibitor of growth 1 (ING1) gene in carcinogenesis and progression of human sporadic colorectal cancer.METHODS: mRNA expression, mutation, and loss of heterozygosity (LOH) of ING1 gene in 35 specimens of sporadic colorectal cancer tissues and the matched normal mucous membrane tissues were detected by semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR),PCR-single strain conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP)and PCR-simple sequence length polymorphism (PCR-SSLP)using microsatellite markers, respectively.RESULTS: The average ratios of light intensities of p33ING1b and p47ING1a mRNA expression in the cancerous tissues were significantly lower than those in normal tissues.The difference between the two mRNA splices was not significant in the matched tissues. In addition, the ratios of light intensities of p33INB1b and p47ING1a mRNA expression in the cancerous tissues of Dukes' stages C and D were significantly lower than those in cancerous tissues of Dukes'stages A and B. However, no mutation of ING1 gene was detected in all 35 cases; only 4 cases of LOH (11.4%)were found.CONCLUSION: p33ING1b and p47ING1a mRNA expressions are closely related with the carcinogenesis and progression of human sporadic colorectal cancer. No mutation of ING1gene is found, and there are only few LOH in sporadic colorectal cancers. These might not be the main reasons for the down regulation of ING1 expression. | 17 | Grain-size Characteristics of Sediments Formed Since 8600 yr B.P. in Middle Reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet and Their Paleoenvironmental Significance显示文摘Widespread aeolian sediments have been found in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, China. The grain-size characteristics of sediments from Cha’er Section in the area were analyzed. The results show that the section include one stratum of paleo-mobile dunes, four strata of paleo-semi-fixed dunes, two strata of paleo-fixed dunes, one stratum of sandy immature soils. The paleo-mobile and paleo-semi-fixed dune sand in this section are simi- lar to modern aeolian sand in either grain-size composition or Mz and σ distribution. Compared the above types of dunes each other, the content of sand substance decreases, while the content of silt and clay increases for paleo-fixed dunes and sandy immature soils. Combined with age data for each stratum, the analysis shows that these strata are the products of climate changes and the evolution of aeolian landforms. | 18 | Comprehensive analysis of NAC transcription factors and their expression during fruit spine development in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)显示文摘The cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)is an important vegetable crop worldwide,and fruit trichomes or spines are an important trait for external fruit quality.The mechanisms underlying spine formation are not well understood,but the plant-specific NAC family of transcription factors may play important roles in fruit spine initiation and development.In this study,we conducted a genome-wide survey and identified 91 NAC gene homologs in the cucumber genome.Clustering analysis classified these genes into six subfamilies;each contained a varying number of NAC family members with a similar intron–exon structure and conserved motifs.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed tissue-specific expression patterns of these genes,including 10 and 12 that exhibited preferential expression in the stem and fruit,respectively.Thirteen of the 91 NAC genes showed higher expression in the wild-type plant than in its near-isogenic trichome mutant,suggesting their important roles in fruit spine development.Exogenous application of four plant hormones promoted spine formation and increased spine density on the cucumber fruits;several NAC genes showed differential expression over time in response to phytohormone treatments on cucumber fruit,implying their essential roles in fruit-trichome development.Among the NAC genes identified,12 were found to be targets of 13 known cucumber micro-RNAs.Collectively,these findings provide a useful resource for further analysis of the interactions between NAC genes and genes underlying trichome organogenesis and development during fruit spine development in cucumber. | Xingwang Liu Ting wang Ezra Bartholomew Kezia Black Mingming Dong Yaqi Zhang Sen Yang Yanling Cai Shudan Xue Yiqun Weng Huazhong Ren | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 10 |
| 19 | Dynamical classification of topological quantum phases显示文摘Topological phase of matter is now a mainstream of research in condensed matter physics, of which the classification, synthesis, and detection of topological states have brought excitements over the recent decade while remain incomplete with ongoing challenges in both theory and experiment. Here we propose to establish a universal non-equilibrium characterization of the equilibrium topological quantum phases classified by integers, and further propose the high-precision dynamical schemes to detect such states. The framework of the dynamical classification theory consists of basic theorems. First, we uncover that classifying a d-dimensional(dD) gapped topological phase of generic multibands can reduce to a(d-1)D invariant defined on so-called band inversion surfaces(BISs), rendering a bulk-surface duality which simplifies the topological characterization. Further, we show in quenching across phase boundary the(pseudo) spin dynamics to exhibit unique topological patterns on BISs, which are attributed to the post-quench bulk topology and manifest a dynamical bulk-surface correspondence. For this the topological phase is classified by a dynamical topological invariant measured from an emergent dynamical spintexture field on the BISs. Applications to quenching experiments on feasible models are proposed and studied, demonstrating the new experimental strategies to detect topological phases with high feasibility. | 20 | The apricot(Prunus armeniaca L.)genome elucidates Rosaceae evolution and beta-carotenoid synthesis显示文摘Apricots,scientifically known as Prunus armeniaca L,are drupes that resemble and are closely related to peaches or plums.As one of the top consumed fruits,apricots are widely grown worldwide except in Antarctica.A high-quality reference genome for apricot is still unavailable,which has become a handicap that has dramatically limited the elucidation of the associations of phenotypes with the genetic background,evolutionary diversity,and population diversity in apricot.DNA from P.armeniaca was used to generate a standard,size-selected library with an average DNA fragment size of~20 kb.The library was run on Sequel SMRT Cells,generating a total of 16.54 Gb of PacBio subreads(N50=13.55 kb).The high-quality P.armeniaca reference genome presented here was assembled using long-read single-molecule sequencing at approximately 70×coverage and 171×Illumina reads(40.46 Gb),combined with a genetic map for chromosome scaffolding.The assembled genome size was 221.9 Mb,with a contig NG50 size of 1.02 Mb.Scaffolds covering 92.88%of the assembled genome were anchored on eight chromosomes.Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs analysis showed 98.0%complete genes.We predicted 30,436 protein-coding genes,and 38.28%of the genome was predicted to be repetitive.We found 981 contracted gene families,1324 expanded gene families and 2300 apricot-specific genes.The differentially expressed gene(DEG)analysis indicated that a change in the expression of the 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase(NCED)gene but not lycopene beta-cyclase(LcyB)gene results in a lowβ-carotenoid content in the white cultivar“Dabaixing”.This complete and highly contiguous P.armeniaca reference genome will be of help for future studies of resistance to plum pox virus(PPV)and the identification and characterization of important agronomic genes and breeding strategies in apricot. | Fengchao Jiang Junhuan Zhang Sen Wang Li Yang Yingfeng Luo Shenghan Gao Meiling Zhang Shuangyang Wu Songnian Hu Haoyuan Sun Yuzhu Wang | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 9 |
