| 2 | Effect of resveratrol on Treg/Th17 signaling and ulcerative colitis treatment in mice显示文摘AIM:To determine the therapeutic efficacy of resveratrol on ulcerative colitis(UC) and its underlying mechanisms.METHODS:The mouse UC model was developed using 5% dextran sulfate sodium.Mice were randomly divided into four groups:normal control,UC model group,resveratrol low-dose group(RLD; 50 mg/kg per day),and resveratrol high-dose group(RHD; 100 mg/kg per day).RESULTS:The results showed that RLD regulates Treg/Th17 balance mainly through reducing the number of Th17 cells,whereas RHD regulates Treg/Th17 balance through both downregulating the number of Th17 cells and upregulating the number of Treg cells.Resveratrol can also regulate the level of plasma and intestinal mucosal cytokines including interleukin(IL)-10,transforming growth factor-β1,IL-6,and IL-17.The expressions of hypoxia inducible factor(HIF)-1α,mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR),and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 weresignificantly decreased in the intestinal tissues of mice treated with resveratrol.CONCLUSION:The therapeutic efficacy of resveratrol in UC is dose dependent and closely associated with the regulation of Treg/Th17 balance and the HIF-1α/mT OR signaling pathway. | Jun Yao Cheng Wei Jian-Yao Wang Ru Zhang Ying-Xue Li Li-Sheng Wang | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,21: | 23 |

| 5 | Characteristics of air particulate matter and their sources in urban and rural area of Beijing, China显示文摘During October 1993 and March 1996, the samples of fine and coarse air particulate matter have been collected at representative urban and rural site of Beijing with the Gent Stacked Filter Unit Sampler. Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) and proton induced X ray emission (PIXE) method were used to determine the elemental composition of the particulate matter. Average elemental concentrations and enrichment factors were calculated for the fine and coarse size fractions. Based on the particulate matter data obtained at urban and rural site together with the chemical constituents of the aerosol from the different sources are discussed. The results show that the relative particulate mass and elemental concentrations of crustal and pollutant elements in the air particulate matter collected over the urban are higher than rural and winter heating period are higher than in ordinary season. Beijing atmosphere is polluted by aerosols from regional and faraway sources. It was noticed that the toxic or harmful elements such as As, Sb, Pb, Cu, Ni, S and Zn were mainly enriched in fine particles with diameter less than 2 μm. A receptor model was used to assess the relative contribution of major air pollution sources at receptor sites in Beijing. Trace elements were used as the markers for the above assessment. Factor analysis method was used to identify possible emission sources of air particles. | 6 | Estimating genetic diversity and sampling strategy for a wild soybean (Glycine soja) population based on different molecular markers显示文摘Genetic diversity is the basic and most important component of biodiversity. It is essential for the effective conservation and utilization of genetic resources to accurately estimate genetic diversity of the targeted species and populations. This paper reports analyses of genetic diversity of a wild soy-bean population using three molecular marker tech-nologies (AFLP, ISSR and SSR), and computer simulation studies of randomly selected subsets with different sample size (5―90 individuals) drawn 50 times from a total of 100 wild soybean individuals. The variation patterns of genetic diversity indices, including expected heterozygosity (He), Shannon diversity index (I), and percentage of polymorphic loci (P), were analyzed to evaluate changes of genetic diversity associated with the increase of individuals in each subset. The results demonstrated that (1) val-ues of genetic diversity indices of the same wild soybean population were considerably different when estimated by different molecular marker techniques; (2) genetic diversity indices obtained from subsets with different sample sizes also diverged considera-bly; (3) P values were relatively more reliable for comparing genetic diversity detected by different molecular marker techniques; and (4) different diver-sity indices reached 90% of the total genetic diversity of the soybean population quite differently in terms of the sample size (number of individuals) analyzed. When using the P value as a determinator, 30―40individuals could capture over 90% of the total ge-netic diversity of the wild soybean population. | 10 | Endocrine Disruption Activity of 30-day Dietary Exposure to Decabromodiphenyl Ethane in Balb/C Mouse显示文摘Objective This study aimed to evaluate the hepatotoxicity,metabolic disturbance activity and endocrine disrupting activity of mice treated by Decabromodiphenyl ethane(DBDPE).Methods In this study,Balb/C mice were treated orally by gavage with various doses of DBDPE.After 30 days of treatment,mice were sacrificed; blood,livers and thyroid glands were obtained,and hepatic microsomes were isolated.Biochemical parameters including 8 clinical chemistry parameters,blood glucose and hormone levels including insulin and thyroid hormone were assayed.The effects of DBDPE on hepatic cytochrome P450(CYP) levels and activities and uridinediphosphate-glucuronosyltransferase(UDPGT) activities were investigated.Liver and thyroid glands were observed.Results There were no obvious signs of toxicity and no significant treatment effect on body weight,or liver-to-body weight ratios between treatment groups.The levels of ALT and AST of higher dose treatment groups were markedly increased.Blood glucose levels of treatment groups were higher than those of control group.There was also an induction in TSH,T3,and f T3.UDPGT,PROD,and EROD activities were found to have been increased significantly in the high dose group.Histopathologic liver changes were characterized by hepatocyte hypertrophy and cytoplasmic vacuolization.Our findings suggest that DBDPE can cause a certain degree of mouse liver damage and insufficiency.Conclusion DBDPE has the activity of endocrine disruptors in Bal/C mice,which may induce drug-metabolizing enzymes including CYPs and UDPGT,and interfere with thyroid hormone levels mediated by Ah R and CAR signaling pathways.Endocrine disrupting activity of DBDPE could also affect the glucose metabolism homeostasis. | SUN Ru Bao SHANG Shuai ZHANG Wei LIN Ben Cheng WANG Qiang SHI Yun XI Zhu Ge | 2018 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2018,31,1: | 7 |

| 12 | Effects of d-Phenylalanine as a biocide enhancer of THPS against the microbiologically influenced corrosion of C1018 carbon steel显示文摘Microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) is caused by biofilms such as those of sulfate reducing bacteria(SRB). To mitigate MIC, biocide treatment is often needed. Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl) phosphonium sulfate(THPS) is an environmentally friendly biocide that is often used in the oil and gas industry. However, its prolonged use leads to biocide resistance, leading to dosage escalation. A biocide enhancer can be used to slow down the trend. In recent years, d-amino acids have been investigated as an enhancer for THPS and other biocides. Published works used anaerobic vials and flow devices, which could not reveal the real-time changes of the biocide treatment on corrosion. In this work, it was proven that the biocide enhancement effects of d-Phenylalanine(d-Phe) on THPS against the Desulfovibrio vulgaris biofilm on C1018 carbon steels could be assessed in real time using linear polarization resistance and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to collaborate sessile cell count, weight loss and pitting depth data. The results showed that 500 ppm(w/w) d-Phe effectively enhanced 80 ppm THPS against MIC by the D. vulgaris(a corrosive SRB) biofilm. In-memory computing represents a radical shift in the computer architecture that can address such problems by merging computing functions within the memory itself. In this article, we review the emerging nonvolatile memory devices,such as resistance-based and charge-based memory devices, that are explored for in-memory computing applications. We will provide an overview of the materials, mechanisms, and integration of these devices,and discuss the optimizations at the device and array levels that are required to better support in-memory computing. Recent progress in the application of in-memory computing in artificial neural networks, spiking neural networks, digital logic in memory as well as hardware security will also be discussed. | 15 | Effect of sustained intensive therapy with disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs in rheumatoid arthritis:a 5-year real-world consecutive study显示文摘Background:Intensive therapy with disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs(DMARDs)has been reported to improve the outcomes of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).However,real-world study on the effect of intensive therapy on RA sustained remission is still lacking.This study aimed to investigate the outcome of sustained intensive DMARD therapy(SUIT)for RA in a real-world 5-year consecutive cohort.Methods:Based on a consecutive cohort of 610 out-patients with RA,remission of RA was assessed in 541 patients from 2012 to 2017,by dividing into SUIT,non-SUIT,and intermittent SUIT(Int-SUIT)groups.Changes in the disease activity scores were evaluated by 28-joint disease activity score based on erythrocyte sedimentation rate(DAS28-ESR),28-joint disease activity score based on C-reactive protein(DAS28-CRP),and clinical deep remission criteria(CliDR).Cumulative remission rates between different groups were compared using Kaplan-Meier curves and predictive factors of sustained remission were identified by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.Results:The remission rates of the SUIT group decreased from 12.0%(65/541)to 5.6%(20/359)based on DAS28-ESR,from 14.0%(76/541)to 7.2%(26/359)based on DAS28-CRP,and from 8.5%(46/541)to 3.1%(11/359)based on CliDR,respectively,with a gradually decreasing trend during the 5 years.The SUIT regimen led to a significantly higher cumulative remission rate than non-SUIT regimen based on DAS28-ESR(39.7%vs.19.5%,P=0.001),DAS28-CRP(42.0%vs.19.6%,P=0.001),and CliDR(24.5%vs.8.7%,P=0.001).The cumulative remission rates of patients treated with SUIT regimen were significantly higher than those treated with Int-SUIT regimen based on DAS28-ESR(39.7%vs.25.7%,P=0.043)and CliDR(24.5%vs.14.2%,P=0.047),but there was no significant difference between the two groups based on DAS28-CRP(42.0%vs.27.4%,P=0.066).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the use of SUIT regimen was an independent favorable predictor according to different remission definitions(for DAS28-ESR:odds ratio[OR],2.215,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.271–3.861,P=0.005;for DAS28-CRP:OR,1.520,95%CI:1.345–1.783,P=0.002;for CliDR:OR,1.525,95%CI:1.314–1.875,P=0.013).Conclusion:Sustained intensive treatment of RA is an optimal strategy in daily practice and will lead to an increased remission rate. | Yue-Ming Cai Ru Li Hua Ye Jing He Xiao-Lin Sun Jia-Yang Jin Jia-Jia Liu Yu-Zhou Gan Xu-Jie You Jing Xu Lian-Jie Shi Gong Cheng Qing-Wen Wang Zhan-Guo Li | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,12: | 3 |
| 16 | Optimal Waist Circumference Cut-off values for Identifying Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-aged and Elderly Subjects in Shandong Province of China显示文摘Objective To study the optimal waist circumference(WC) cut-off values for identifying metabolic risk factors in middle-aged and elderly subjects in Shandong Province of China. Methods A total of 2 873 men and 5 559 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Metabolic syndrome(MetS) was diagnosed according to the definition of Chinese Diabetes Society in 2004. The relation between WC and MetS was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The optimal WC cut-off values were identified using the area under the ROC curve and the different diagnostic criteria for central obesity were compared. Results The WC was the risk factor for MetS independent of BMI, blood glucose, blood lipid, and blood pressure. The optimal WC cut-off value was 83.8 cm and 91.1 cm for identifying MetS in women and men, respectively. Compared with 80 cm and 85 cm for women and men, 85 cm and 90 cm had a higher Youden index for identifying all metabolic risk factors and MetS in women and men. | 17 | Urban-rural disparities in mild cognitive impairment and its functional subtypes among community- dwelling older residents in central China显示文摘background Substantial variations in the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and its subtypes have been reported,although mostly in geographically defined developed countries and regions.Less is known about MCI and its subtypes in rural areas of less developed central China.Aims The study aimed to compare the prevalence of MCI and its subtypes in residents aged 65 years or older in urban and rural areas of Hubei Province,China.Methods Participants aged 65 years or older were recruited between 2018 and 2019.Inperson structured interviews and clinical and neuropsychological assessments were performed at city health community centres and township hospitals.results Among 2644 participants without dementia,735 had MCI,resulting in a prevalence of 27.8%for total MCI,20.9%for amnestic MCI(aMCI)and 6.9%for non-amnestic MCI(naMCI).The prevalence of MCI in urban and rural areas was 20.2%and 44.1%,respectively.After adjusting for demographic factors,the prevalence of total MCI,aMCI and naMCI differed significantly between rural and urban areas(adjusted odds ratio(OR)2.10,1.44 and 3.76,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed an association between rural socioeconomic and lifestyle disadvantage and MCI and its subtypes.Conclusions Our findings suggest that the prevalence of MCI among urban residents in central China is consistent with that in other metropolis areas,such as Shanghai,but the prevalence in rural areas is twice that in urban areas.Prospective studies and dementia prevention in China should focus on rural areas. | Dan Liu Lin Li Lina An Guirong Cheng Cong Chen Mingjun Zou Bo Zhang Xuguang Gan Lang Xu Yangming Ou Qingming Wu Ru Wang Yan Zeng | 2021 | General Psychiatry2021,34,5: | 3 |

| 19 | Experimental Investigation on the Effect of Mainstream Turbulence on Full Coverage Film Cooling Effectiveness for a Turbine Guide Vane显示文摘Experiments have been performed to investigate the effect of mainstream turbulence on the three-dimensional distribution of the full coverage film cooling effectiveness for two enlarged actual twisted vanes with cylindrical or shaped holes. The film cooling effectiveness was measured by transient liquid crystal technique at mainstream turbulence intensities of 2%, 9% and 15%. The mass flow rate ratios range from 5.5% to 12.5%. There are 3, 8 and 7 rows of film holes on the suction side, leading edge and pressure side, respectively. Results show that for the cylindrical hole vane the high mainstream turbulence intensity decreases the film cooling effectiveness in the top region and down region of pressure side in the low mass flow rate ratio of 5.5%, while the effect is opposite in the high mass flow rate ratio of 12.5%. The film cooling effectiveness in the middle region of pressure side decreases obviously with the increase of the turbulence at the low mass flow rate ratio of 5.5%, while the influence of increasing turbulence weakens gradually with the increase of mass flow rate ratio. Moreover, the high mainstream turbulence improves the film cooling effectiveness in the further downstream of the holes on suction side at the high mass flow rate ratio of 12.5%. For the shaped hole vane, the increase of mainstream turbulence decreases the film cooling effectiveness at all mass flow rate ratios. This study reveals the influence rule of the mainstream turbulence on the film cooling effectiveness in the different regions of the three-dimensional vane surface.
