Controlling factors on the submarine canyon system: A case study of the Central Canyon System in the Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea显示文摘Based on an integrated analysis of high-resolution 2D/3D seismic data and drilling results, this study analyzes the tectonicsedimentary evolution of the Qiongdongnan Basin(QDNB) since the late Miocene, and discusses the controlling factors on the formation and development of the Central Canyon System(CCS). The sediment failures caused by the relative sea level falling might have discharged deposits from the slope to the canyon. The two suits of the infillings, i.e., turbidites and mass transport complex(MTC), were derived from the northwestern source and northern source, respectively. The sediment supplies, which differ significantly among different areas, might have led to the variations observed in the internal architectures. Tectonic transformation around 11.6 Ma had provided the tectonic setting for the CCS and formed an axial sub-basin in the central part of the Changchang Depression, which could be called the rudiment of the CCS. The tectonic activity of the Red River Fault(RRF) at about 5.7 Ma might have strengthened the hydrodynamics of the deposits at the junction of the Yinggehai Basin(YGHB) and the QDNB to trigger a high-energy turbidity current. The MTC from the northern continental slope system might have been constrained by the Southern Uplift, functioning as a barrier for the infillings of the CCS. Thanks to a sufficient sediment supply during the Holocene period and the paleo-seafloor morphology, the relief of modern central canyon with the starving landform in the eastern Changchang Depression might have been accentuated by deposition of sediments and vertical growth along the canyon flanks, where collapse deposits were widely developed. Corresponding to the segmentation of the CCS, the forming mechanisms of the canyon between the three segments would be different. The turbidite channel in the head area had likely been triggered by the abundant sediment supply from the northwestern source together with the fault activity at about 5.7 Ma of the RRF. The formation and evolution of the canyon in the western segment were caused by combined effects of the turbidite channel from the northwestern source, the MTC from the northern continental slope, and the paleo-seafloor geomorphology. In the eastern segment, the canyon was constrained by the tectonic transformation occurring at approximately 11.6 Ma and the insufficient sediment supply from the wide-gentle slope. | SU Ming ZHANG Cheng XIE XiNong WANG ZhenFeng JIANG Tao HE YunLong ZHANG CuiMei | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,10: | 21
Spatio-temporal-spectral-angular observation model that integrates observations from UAV and mobile mapping vehicle for better urban mapping显示文摘In a complex urban scene, observation from a single sensor unavoidably leads to voids in observations, failing to describe urban objects in a comprehensive manner. In this paper,we propose a spatio-temporal-spectral-angular observation model to integrate observations from UAV and mobile mapping vehicle platform, realizing a joint, coordinated observation operation from both air and ground. We develop a multi-source remote sensing data acquisition system to effectively acquire multi-angle data of complex urban scenes.Multi-source data fusion solves the missing data problem caused by occlusion and achieves accurate, rapid, and complete collection of holographic spatial and temporal information in complex urban scenes. We carried out an experiment on Baisha Town,Chongqing,China and obtained multi-sensor,multi-angle data from UAV and mobile mapping vehicle. We first extracted the point cloud from UAV and then integrated the UAV and mobile mapping vehicle point cloud. The inte-grated results combined both the characteristics of UAV and mobile mapping vehicle point cloud, confirming the practicability of the proposed joint data acquisition platform and the effectiveness of spatio-temporal-spectral-angular observation model.Compared with the observation from UAV or mobile mapping vehicle alone, the integrated system provides an effective data acquisition solution toward comprehensive urban monitoring. | Zhenfeng Shao Gui Cheng Deren Li Xiao Huang Zhipeng Lu Jian Liu | 2021 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2021,24,4: | 2
Genomic decoding of breeding history to guide breeding-by-design in rice显示文摘Deciphering the intrinsic molecular logic of empirical crop breeding from a genomic perspective is a decisive prerequisite for breeding-by-design(BbD),but remains not well established. Here,we decoded the historical features of past rice breeding by phenotyping and haplotyping 546 accessions covering the majority of cultivars bred in the history of Northeast China(NEC).We revealed that three groups founded the genetic diversities in NEC rice with distinct evolution patterns and traced and verified the breeding footprints to known or genome-wide association study(GWAS)-detected quantitative trait loci(QTLs),or introgressions from indica sub-species with chronological changes in allele frequencies. Then we summarized a rice breeding trend/principle in NEC,and combined with the successful example in breeding and application of Zhongkefa5 to demonstrate the guiding value of our conclusion for BbD in practice. Our study provides a paradigm for decoding the breeding history of a specific crop to guide BbD,which may have implications in different crop breeding. | Zhuo Chen Qingyun Bu Guifu Liu Maoqing Wang Hongru Wang Huazhao Liu Xiufeng Li Hong Li Jun Fang Yan Liang Zhenfeng Teng Sai Kang Hong Yu Zhukuan Cheng Yongbiao Xue Chengzhi Liang Jiuyou Tang Jiayang Li Chengcai Chu | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,5: | 1
Vertical distribution and temporal evolution of formaldehyde and glyoxal derived from MAX-DOAS observations:The indicative role of VOC sources显示文摘Formaldehyde(HCHO)and glyoxal(CHOCHO)are important oxidization intermediates of most volatile organic compounds(VOCs),but their vertical evolution in urban areas is not well understood.Vertical profiles of HCHO,CHOCHO,and nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))were retrieved from ground-based Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy(MAXDOAS)observations in Hefei,China.HCHO and CHOCHO vertical profiles prefer to occur at higher altitudes compared to NO_(2),which might be caused by the photochemistry-oxidation of longer-lived VOCs at higher altitudes.Monthly means of HCHO concentrations were higher in summer, while enhanced amounts of NO_(2)were mainly observed in winter.CHOCHO exhibited a hump-like seasonal variation, with higher monthly-averaged values not only occurred in warm months(July-August)but also in cold months(November-December).Peak values mainly occurred during noon for HCHO but emerged in the morning for CHOCHO and NO_(2),suggesting that HCHO is stronger link to photochemistry than CHOCHO.We further use the glyoxal to formaldehyde ratio(GFR)to investigate the VOC sources at different altitudes. The lowest GFR value is almost found in the altitude from 0.2 to 0.4 km,and then rises rapidly as the altitude increases. The GFR results indicate that the largest contributor of the precursor VOC is biogenic VOCs at lower altitudes, while at higher altitudes is anthropogenic VOCs.Our findings provide a lot more insight into VOC sources at vertical direction, but more verification is recommended to be done in the future. | Qianqian Hong Cheng Liu Qihou Hu Yanli Zhang Chengzhi Xing Jinping Ou Wei Tan Haoran Liu Xiaoqing Huang Zhenfeng Wu | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,12: | 1

Mapping impervious surfaces with a hierarchical spectral mixture analysis incorporating endmember spatial distribution显示文摘Impervious surface mapping is essential for urban environmental studies.Spectral Mixture Analysis(SMA)and its extensions are widely employed in impervious surface estimation from medium-resolution images. For SMA,inappropriate endmember combinations and inadequate endmember classes have been recognized as the primary reasons for estimation errors.Meanwhile, the spectral-only SMA,without considering urban spatial distribution, fails to consider spectral variability in an adequate manner. The lack of endmember class diversity and their spatial variations lead to over/underestimation.To mitigate these issues, this study integrates a hierarchical strategy and spatially varied endmember spectra to map impervious surface abundance, taking Wuhan and Wuzhou as two study areas.Specifically, the piecewise convex multiple-model endmember detection algorithm is applied to automatically hierarch-ize images into three regions, and distinct endmember combinations are independently developed in each region. Then, spatially varied endmember spectra are synthesized through neighboring spectra using the distance-based weight.Comparative analysis indicates that the proposed method achieves better performance than Hierarchical SMA and Fixed Four-endmembers SMA in terms of MAE,SE,and RMSE.Further analysis suggests that the hierarch-ical strategy can expand endmember class types and considerably improve the performance for the study areas in general, specifically in less developed areas. Moreover,we find that spatially varied endmember spectra facilitate the reduction of heterogeneous surface material variations and achieve the improved performance in developed areas. | Zhenfeng Shao Yuan Zhang Cheng Zhang Xiao Huang Tao Cheng | 2022 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2022,25,4: | 1

Anti-Parkinsonian Therapy:Strategies for Crossing the Blood–Brain Barrier and Nano-Biological Effects of Nanomaterials显示文摘Parkinson’s disease(PD),a neurodegenerative disease that shows a high incidence in older individuals,is becoming increasingly prevalent.Unfortunately, there is no clinical cure for PD,and novel anti-PD drugs are therefore urgently required. However, the selective permeability of the blood–brain barrier(BBB)poses a huge challenge in the development of such drugs.Fortunately, through strategies based on the physiological characteristics of the BBB and other modifications, including enhancement of BBB permeability, nanotechnology can offer a solution to this problem and facilitate drug delivery across the BBB.Although nanomaterials are often used as carriers for PD treatment, their biological activity is ignored.Several studies in recent years have shown that nanomaterials can improve PD symptoms via their own nano-bio effects. In this review,we first summarize the physiological features of the BBB and then discuss the design of appropriate brain-targeted delivery nanoplatforms for PD treatment.Subsequently,we highlight the emerging strategies for crossing the BBB and the development of novel nanomaterials with anti-PD nano-biological effects. Finally,we discuss the current challenges in nanomaterial-based PD treatment and the future trends in this field. Our review emphasizes the clinical value of nanotechnology in PD treatment based on recent patents and could guide researchers working in this area in the future. | Guowang Cheng Yujing Liu Rui Ma Guopan Cheng Yucheng Guan Xiaojia Chen Zhenfeng Wu Tongkai Chen | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,6: | 1
Consideration of transmembrane water exchange in pharmacokinetic model significantly improves the accuracy of DCE-MRI in estimating cellular density:A pilot study in glioblastoma multiforme显示文摘Transmembrane water exchange(TWE)including transcytolemmal water exchange and transvascular water exchange is involved in many in vivo measurements and makes different contributions to the measuring results. In this study,we focus on the potential influence of TWE on the cell density parameter, intracellular water mole fraction pi,derived by dynamic contrast enhanced-magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI)which has been reported as a technique to characterize perfusion and vascularization of tissues, but its accuracy in measuring cell density(or interstitial space)has been questioned.Sixteen patients with glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)were enrolled since GBM shows strong intratumor heterogeneity in both cell density and TWE.All the subjects were collected with DCE-MRI and apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)map. The latter was considered as a valid surrogate of cell density.Extended Tofts(eTofts)model considering TWE as infinitely large variables and shutter-speed model(SSM)considering TWE as finite ones were used to fit DCE-MRI data.Monte Carlo(MC)and finite difference(FD)methods were used to simulate the influence of TWE on DCE-MRI-derived pi and ADC,respectively. The eTofts model shows a significant overestimation of pi in comparison with SSM in GBM(P<0.001),which is in accordance with MC simulations, and this overestimation shows dependence on the intra-to-extracellular water exchange rate constant(kio).Significant negative correlations between ADC and SSM-derived pi were found in both voxel-wise analyses(t-test P<0.001,average r=-0.74)and inter-subject comparisons(r=-0.63,P=0.009).But no consistent voxel-wise correlations(P>0.05)and a weaker inter-subject negative correlation(r=-0.56,P=0.02)were found between ADC and eTofts-derived pi.Further experimental and FD results revealed that kio made a limited contribution to ADC values in the physiological kio range in GBM,supporting ADC as a valid biomarker of cell density. These results suggest that the DCE-MRI pharmacokinetic shutter-speed model could significantly improve its accuracy in cell density estimation because of the considering transmembrane water exchange. | Zhenfeng Pang Zejun Wang Bao Wang Kaiyue Guo Cheng Meng Yingchao Liu Xueqian Kong Ruiliang Bai | 2022 | Magnetic Resonance Letters2022,2,4: | 0
Ultrasmall Coordination Polymers for Alleviating ROS-Mediated Inflammatory and Realizing Neuroprotection against Parkinson's Disease显示文摘Parkinson's disease(PD)is the second most common neurodegenerative disease globally, and there is currently no effective treatment for this condition.Excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROs)and neuroinflammation are major contributors to PD pathogenesis.Herein, ultrasmall nanoscale coordination polymers(NCPs)coordinated by ferric ions and natural product curcumin(Cur)were exploited, showing efficient neuroprotection by scavenging excessive radicals and suppressing neuroinflammation. In a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(MPTP)-induced mouse PD model, such ultrasmall Fe-Cur NCPs with prolonged blood circulation and BBB traversing capability could effectively alleviate oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammatory condition in the midbrain and striatum to reduce PD symptoms. Thus, this study puts forth a unique type of therapeutics-based NCPs that could be used for safe and efficient treatment of PD with potential in clinical translation. | Guowang Cheng Xueliang Liu Yujing Liu Yao Liu Rui Ma Jingshan Luo Xinyi Zhou Zhenfeng Wu Zhuang Liu Tongkai Chen Yu Yang | 2022 | Research2022,,4: | 0
