2RLINl,encoding a putative coproporphyrinogen Ⅲ oxidase,is involved in lesion initiation in rice显示文摘Lesion mimic is necrotic lesions on plant leaf or stem in the absence of pathogenic infection,and its exact biological mechanism is varied.By a large-scale screening of our T-DNA mutant population,we identified a mutant rice lesion initiation 1(rlin1),which was controlled by a single nuclear recessive gene.Map-based cloning revealed that RLIN1 encoded a putative coproporphyrinogen Ⅲ oxidase in tetrapyrrole biosynthesis pathway.Sequencing results showed that a G to T substitution occurred in the second exon of RLIN1 and led to a missense mutation from Asp to Tyr.Ectopic expression of RLIN1 could rescue rlin1 lesion mimic phenotype.Histochemical analysis demonstrated that lesion formation in rlin1 was light-dependent accompanied by reactive oxygen species accumulated.These results suggest that tetrapyrrole participates in lesion formation in rice.Changhui Sun Linchuan Liu Jiuyou Tang Aihong Lin Fantao Zhang Jun Fang Genfa Zhang Chengcai Chu 2011Journal of Genetics and Genomics2011,38,1:31

4A Comprehensive Evaluation of Tourism Climate Suitability in Qinghai Province, China显示文摘Qinghai Province is an important component of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China. Scientific evaluation of the suitability of Qinghai's climate for tourism can contribute to overcoming obstacles posed by climate on sustainable tourism development in Qinghai Province, including disparities between the low and high seasons, high altitude health concerns, and weather events. A tourism climate suitability evaluation model of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is constructed (Tourism Climate Suitability Index, or TCSI), and tourism climate suitability is comprehensively evaluated for Qinghai Province from climate data from 1960 to 2009. Results show that: (I) There is clear distributional characteristics of spatial-temporal variability of TCSI values in Qinghai Province. (II) Tourism climate suitability in Qinghai Province has significant seasonal and regional differences. The year is divided into a very suitable period (July and August), suitable tourism periods (from April and October), less suitable periods (From Nov to Mar). June to August is the most suitable tourism period in Qinghai. Qinghai Province is divided into five levels of tourism climate suitability: most suitable regions, very suitable regions, suitable regions, less suitable regions, and unsuitable region. (III) The key factor which influences regional differences in tourism climatic suitability is atmospheric oxygen. 5Exploration of rice yield potential: Decoding agronomic and physiological traits显示文摘Rice grain yield is determined by three major'visible'morphological traits:grain weight,grain number per panicle,and effective tiller number,which are affected by a series of'invisible'physiological factors including nutrient use efficiency and photosynthetic efficiency.In the past few decades,substantial progress has been made on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying grain yield formation,laying a solid foundation for improving rice yield by molecular breeding.This review outlines our current understanding of the three morphological yield-determining components and summarizes major progress in decoding physiological traits such as nutrient use efficiency and photosynthetic efficiency.It also discusses the integration of current knowledge about yield formation and crop improvement strategies including genome editing with conventional and molecular breeding.Gengmi Li Jiuyou Tang Jiakui Zheng Chengcai Chu 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,3:9

7Establishment of Genetic Transformation System for Miscanthus sacchariflorus and Obtaining of Its Transgenic Plants显示文摘The initiation and regeneration system for embryogenic callus of Miscanthus sacchariflrus is established at very high frequency. Potato proteinaseⅡ(pinⅡ) genes are introduced into the callus of Miscanthus sacchariflorus and some transgenic plants are obtained by the particle bombardment transformation system. 8Molecular analysis of rice plants harboring a multi-functional T-DNA tagging system显示文摘About 25,000 rice T-DNA insertional mutant lines were generated using the vector pCAS04 which has both promoter-trapping and activation-tagging function. Southern blot analysis revealed that about 40% of these mutants were single copy integration and the average T-DNA insertion number was 2.28. By extensive phenotyping in the field, quite a number of agronomically important mutants were obtained. Histochemical GUS assay with 4,310 primary mutants revealed that the GUS-staining frequency was higher than that of the previous reports in various tissues and especially high in flowers. The T-DNA flanking sequences of some mutants were isolated and the T-DNA insertion sites were mapped to the rice genome. The flanking sequence analysis demonstrated the different integration pattern of the right border and left border into rice genome. 10Genomic decoding of breeding history to guide breeding-by-design in rice显示文摘Deciphering the intrinsic molecular logic of empirical crop breeding from a genomic perspective is a decisive prerequisite for breeding-by-design(BbD),but remains not well established.Here,we decoded the historical features of past rice breeding by phenotyping and haplotyping 546 accessions covering the majority of cultivars bred in the history of Northeast China(NEC).We revealed that three groups founded the genetic diversities in NEC rice with distinct evolution patterns and traced and verified the breeding footprints to known or genome-wide association study(GWAS)-detected quantitative trait loci(QTLs),or introgressions from indica sub-species with chronological changes in allele frequencies.Then we summarized a rice breeding trend/principle in NEC,and combined with the successful example in breeding and application of Zhongkefa5 to demonstrate the guiding value of our conclusion for BbD in practice.Our study provides a paradigm for decoding the breeding history of a specific crop to guide BbD,which may have implications in different crop breeding.Zhuo Chen Qingyun Bu Guifu Liu Maoqing Wang Hongru Wang Huazhao Liu Xiufeng Li Hong Li Jun Fang Yan Liang Zhenfeng Teng Sai Kang Hong Yu Zhukuan Cheng Yongbiao Xue Chengzhi Liang Jiuyou Tang Jiayang Li Chengcai Chu 2023National Science Review2023,10,5:1
11An activated form of NB-ARC protein RLS1 functions with cysteine-rich receptor-like protein RMC to trigger cell death in rice显示文摘A key event that follows pathogen recognition by a resistance(R)protein containing an NB-ARC(nucleotide-binding adaptor shared by Apaf-1,R proteins,and Ced-4)domain is hypersensitive response(HR)-type cell death accompanied by accumulation of reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide.However,the integral mechanisms that underlie this process remain relatively opaque.Here,we show that a gain-offunction mutation in the NB-ARC protein RLS1(Rapid Leaf Senescence 1)triggers high-light-dependent HR-like cell death in rice.The RLS1-mediated defense response is largely independent of salicylic acid accumulation,NPR1(Nonexpressor of Pathogenesis-Related Gene 1)activity,and RAR1(Required for Mla12 Resistance 1)function.A screen for suppressors of RLS1 activation identified RMC(Root Meander Curling)as essential for the RLS1-activated defense response.RMC encodes a cysteine-rich receptor-like secreted protein(CRRSP)and functions as an RLS1-binding partner.Intriguingly,their co-expression resulted in a change in the pattern of subcellular localization and was sufficient to trigger cell death accompanied by a decrease in the activity of the antioxidant enzyme APX1.Collectively,our findings reveal an NBARC-CRRSP signaling module that modulates oxidative state,the cell death process,and associated immunity responses in rice.Yiqin Wang Zhenfeng Teng Hua Li Wei Wang Fan Xu Kai Sun Jinfang Chu Yangwen Qian Gary JLoake Chengcai Chu Jiuyou Tang 2023Plant Communications2023,4,2:1
