Quality control of marine big data——a case study of real-time observation station data in Qingdao显示文摘Offshore waters provide resources for human beings, while on the other hand, threaten them because of marine disasters.Ocean stations are part of offshore observation networks, and the quality of their data is of great significance for exploiting and protecting the ocean. We used hourly mean wave height, temperature, and pressure real-time observation data taken in the Xiaomaidao station(in Qingdao,China)from June 1,2017,to May 31,2018,to explore the data quality using eight quality control methods, and to discriminate the most effective method for Xiaomaidao station. After using the eight quality control methods, the percentages of the mean wave height, temperature, and pressure data that passed the tests were 89.6%,88.3%,and 98.6%,respectively.With the marine disaster(wave alarm report)data, the values failed in the test mainly due to the influence of aging observation equipment and missing data transmissions. The mean wave height is often affected by dynamic marine disasters,so the continuity test method is not effective. The correlation test with other related parameters would be more useful for the mean wave height.QIAN Chengcheng LIU Aichao HUANG Rui LIU Qingrong XU Wenkun ZHONG Shan YU Le 2019Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,6:6
Chromosome-level genome of Himalayan yew provides insights into the origin and evolution of the paclitaxel biosynthetic pathway显示文摘Taxus, commonly known as yew,is a well-known gymnosperm with great ornamental and medicinal value. In this study,by assembling a chromosome-level genome of the Himalayan yew(Taxus wallichiana)with 10.9 Gb in 12 chromosomes,we revealed that tandem duplication acts as the driving force of gene family evolution in the yew genome, resulting in the main genes for paclitaxel biosynthesis,i.e.those encoding the taxadiene synthase,P450s,and transferases, being clustered on the same chromosome. The tandem duplication may also provide genetic resources for the nature to sculpt the core structure of taxoids at different positions and subsequently establish the complex pathway of paclitaxel by neofunctionalization.Furthermore,we confirmed that there are two genes in the cluster encoding isoenzymes of a known enzyme in the paclitaxel biosynthetic pathway. The reference genome of the Himalayan yew will serve as a platform for decoding the complete biosynthetic pathway of paclitaxel and understanding the chemodi-versity of taxoids in gymnosperms.Jian Cheng Xiao Wang Xiaonan Liu Xiaoxi Zhu Zihe Li Huanyu Chu Qian Wang QianQian Lou Bijun Cai Yiqun Yang Xiaoyun Lu Kai Peng Dingyu Liu Yuwan Liu Lina Lu Huan Liu Ting Yang Qijin Ge Chengcheng Shi Guichun Liu Zhiwei Dong Xun Xu Wen Wang Huifeng Jiang Yanhe Ma 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,7:6
The Solar Upper Transition Region Imager(SUTRI)Onboard the SATech-01 Satellite显示文摘The Solar Upper Transition Region Imager(SUTRI)onboard the Space Advanced Technology demonstration satellite(SATech-01),which was launched to a Sun-synchronous orbit at a height of~500 km in 2022 July, aims to test the on-orbit performance of our newly developed Sc/Si multi-layer reflecting mirror and the 2k×2k EUV CMOS imaging camera and to take full-disk solar images at the Ne VII 46.5 nm spectral line with a filter width of~3 nm.SUTRI employs a Ritchey-Chrétien optical system with an aperture of 18 cm.The on-orbit observations show that SUTRI images have a field of view of~416×416 and a moderate spatial resolution of~8″without an image stabilization system. The normal cadence of SUTRI images is 30 s and the solar observation time is about16 hr each day because the earth eclipse time accounts for about 1/3 of SATech-01's orbit period.Approximately15 GB data is acquired each day and made available online after processing.SUTRI images are valuable as the Ne VII 46.5 nm line is formed at a temperature regime of~0.5 MK in the solar atmosphere, which has rarely been sampled by existing solar imagers.SUTRI observations will establish connections between structures in the lower solar atmosphere and corona, and advance our understanding of various types of solar activity such as flares, filament eruptions, coronal jets and coronal mass ejections.Xianyong Bai Hui Tian Yuanyong Deng Zhanshan Wang Jianfeng Yang Xiaofeng Zhang Yonghe Zhang Runze Qi Nange Wang Yang Gao Jun Yu Chunling He Zhengxiang Shen Lun Shen Song Guo Zhenyong Hou Kaifan Ji Xingzi Bi Wei Duan Xiao Yang Jiaben Lin Ziyao Hu Qian Song Zihao Yang Yajie Chen Weidong Qiao Wei Ge Fu Li Lei Jin Jiawei He Xiaobo Chen Xiaocheng Zhu Junwang He Qi Shi Liu Liu Jinsong Li Dongxiao Xu Rui Liu Taijie Li Zhenggong Feng Yamin Wang Chengcheng Fan Shuo Liu Sifan Guo Zheng Sun Yuchuan Wu Haiyu Li Qi Yang Yuyang Ye Weichen Gu Jiali Wu Zhe Zhang Yue Yu Zeyi Ye Pengfeng Sheng Yifan Wang Wenbin Li Qiushi Huang Zhong Zhang 2023Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,6:1
Climatology of Wind-Seas and Swells in the China Seas from Wave Hindcast显示文摘The wind-sea and swell climates in the China Seas are investigated by using the 27-yr Integrated Ocean Waves for Geophysical and other Applications(IOWAGA)hindcast data.A comparison is made between the significant wave height from the IOWAGA hindcasts and that from a jointly calibrated altimetry dataset, showing the good performance of the IOWAGA hindcasts in the China Seas.A simple but practical method of diagnosing whether the sea state is wind-sea-dominant or swell-dominant is proposed based on spectral partitioning.Different from the characteristics of wind-seas and swells in the open ocean, the wave fields in the enclosed seas such as the China Seas are predominated by wind-sea events in respect of both frequencies of occurrences and energy weights, due to the island sheltering and limited fetches. The energy weights of wind-seas in a given location is usually more significant than the occurrence probability of wind-sea-dominated events,as the wave energy is higher in the wind-sea events than in the swell events on average and extreme wave heights are mostly related to wind-seas.The most energetic swells in the China Seas(and other enclosed seas)are‘local swells’,having just propagated out of their generation areas. However, the swells coming from the West Pacific also play an important role in the wave climate of the China Seas, which can only be revealed by partitioning different swell systems in the wave spectra as the energy of them is significantly less than the‘local swells’.QIAN Chengcheng JIANG Haoyu WANG Xuan CHEN Ge 2020Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,1:1

Disaster Risk Reduction,Climate Change Adaptation and Their Linkages with Sustainable Development over the Past 30 Years:AReview显示文摘The severe damage and impacts caused by extreme events in a changing climate will not only make the sustainable development goals difficult to achieve, but also erode the hard-won development gains of the past. This article reviews the major impacts and challenges of disaster and climate change risks on sustainable development, and summarizes the courses and linkages of disaster risk reduction(DRR),climate change adaptation(CCA),and sustainable development over the past 30 years. Our findings show that the conceptual development of DRR actions has gone through three general phases:disaster management in the 1990s,risk management in the 2000s,and resilient management and development in the 2010s.Gradually,CCA has been widely implemented to overcome the adverse effects of climate change.A framework is proposed for tackling climate change and disaster risks in the context of resilient, sustainable development, indicating that CCA is not a subset of DRR while they have similarities and differences in their scope and emphasis. It is crucial to transform governance mechanisms at different levels,so as to integrate CCA and DRR to reduce disaster and climate change risks, and achieve safe growth and a resilient future in the era of the Anthropocene.Jiahong Wen Chengcheng Wan Qian Ye Jianping Yan Weijiang Li 2023International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2023,14,1:0
Seasonal Distribution of Observed Colored Dissolved Organic Matter(CDOM)in the Eastern Indian Ocean显示文摘Colored dissolved organic matter(CDOM)is a crucial constituent that affects the optical absorption properties of seawater.Owing to the relatively limited measured data on the spatial distribution characteristics of CDOM in the tropical eastern Indian Ocean, this study analyzes the optical absorption characteristics of CDOM in the southeast Indian Ocean using the data collected during four seasons from 2013 to 2017.This work also systematically describes the seasonal horizontal and vertical distribution characteristics of CDOM in this area and conducts a preliminary analysis of the relevant factors affecting CDOM absorption characteristics in this region. Results indicate that the CDOM ag(440)during summer was remarkably lower than that in the coastal waters of Europe and coastal waters of China but slightly higher than that in the western and southeast Pacific. The spatial distribution of surface CDOM shows remarkable seasonal differences, and the spatial distribution characteristics of CDOM in the 5°S,92°E region differ between spring/summer and autumn/winter.The values of ag(400)and ag(440)are weak/strong at a surface/subsurface level of 100 m,with differences found between summer and winter. The correlation of CDOM with temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll-a concentration is relatively low, indicating that CDOM is an independent driving mechanism influenced by phytoplankton degradation, photobleaching, and water mixing.CAI Xiaoqing MENG Jie YUAN Chao LIU Rongjie HOU Erhu BI Dayong LI Yaoru QIAN Chengcheng ZHONG Shan 2023Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,4:0
A parallel data generator for efficiently generating “realistic” social streams显示文摘A social stream refers to the data stream that records a series of social entities and the dynamic interac-tions between two entities. It can be employed to model the changes of entity states in numerous applications. The social streams, the combination of graph and streaming data, pose great challenge to efficient analytical query processing, and are key to better understanding users' behavior. Considering of privacy and other related issues, a social stream genera-tor is of great significance. A framework of synthetic social stream generator (SSG) is proposed in this paper. The gener-ated social streams using SSG can be tuned to capture sev-eral kinds of fundamental social stream properties, includ-ing patterns about users' behavior and graph patterns. Ex-tensive empirical studies with several real-life social stream data sets show that SSG can produce data that better fit to real data. It is also confirmed that SSG can generate social stream data continuously with stable throughput and memory consumption. Furthermore, we propose a parallel implemen-tation of SSG with the help of asynchronized parallel pro-cessing model and delayed update strategy. Our experiments verify that the throughput of the parallel implementation can increase linearly by increasing nodes.Chengcheng YU Fan XIA Weining QIAN Aoying ZHOU 2019Frontiers of Computer Science2019,13,5:0
Data science for oceanography:from small data to big data显示文摘The rapid development of ocean observation technology has resulted in the accumulation of a large amount of data and this is pushing ocean science towards being data-driven.Based on the types and distribution of oceanographic data, this paper analyzes the present and makes predictions for the future regarding the use of big and small data in ocean science. The ocean science has not fully entered the era of big data. There are two ways to expand the amount of oceanographic data to better understanding and man-agement of the ocean. On the data level, fully exploit the potential value of big and small ocean data, and transform the limited, small data into rich, big data, will help to achieve this.On the application level, oceanographic data are of great value if realize the federation of the core data owners and the consumers. The oceanographic data will provide not only a reliable scientific basis for climate, ecological, disaster and other scientific research, but also provide an unprecedented rich source of information that can be used to make predictions of the future.Chengcheng Qian Baoxiang Huang Xueqing Yang Ge Chen 2022Big Earth Data2022,6,2:0
Warmer-Get-Wetter or Wet-Get-Wetter? A Criterion to Classify Oceanic Precipitation显示文摘In this study, the temporal and spatial variations of observed global oceanic precipitation during 1979–2010 are investigated. It is found that the global trend in precipitation during this period varies at a rate of 1.5%/K of surface warming while the rate is 6.6%/K during 2006–2010. The precipitation is highly correlated with Sea Surface Temperature(SST) in both the temporal and the spatial patterns since the strong 1997–98 El Nino event. Considering the distributions of precipitation and SST, seven oceanic regions are classified and presented using the observed Global Precipitation Climatology Project(GPCP) data and Extended Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperatures, version 3(ERSST.v3) data. Further examining the mechanisms of the classified oceanic precipitation regions is conducted using the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM) satellite, GFDL-ESM-2G model precipitation and SST data and Hadley Center sea ice and SST version 1(Had ISST1) data. More than 85% of global oceanic precipitations are controlled by either one or both of the warmer-get-wetter mechanism and wet-get-wetter mechanism. It is estimated that a 0.5 SST signal-to-noise ratio, representing the trend of SST time series to the standard deviation, is a criterion to distinguish the mechanism of a region. When the SST ratio is larger than 0.5, the precipitation of this region is controlled by the warmer-get-wetter mechanism. SST, rather than the humidity, is the pivotal factor. On the other hand, when the SST ratio is less than 0.5, the precipitation is controlled by the wet-get-wetter mechanism. The SST variability is a significant factor contributing to the precipitation variation.QIAN Chengcheng CHEN Ge 2014Journal of Ocean University of China2014,13,4:0
