| 3 | In vitro and in vivo biodegradation and biocompatibility of an MMT/BSA composite coating upon magnesium alloy AZ31显示文摘The performance of biodegradable magnesium alloy requires special attention to rapid degradation and poor biocompatibility, which can cause the implant to fail. Here, a sodium montmorillonite(MMT)/bovine serum albumin(BSA) composite coating was prepared upon magnesium alloy AZ31 via hydrothermal synthesis, followed by dip coating. We evaluated the surface characterization and corrosion behavior in vitro, and the biocompatibility in vitro and in vivo. Biodegradation progress of the MMT-BSA coated Mg pieces was examined through hydrogen evolution, immersion tests, and electrochemical measurements in Hank’s solution. In vitro biocompatibility studies were evaluated via hemolysis tests, dynamic cruor time tests, platelet adhesion, MTT testing and live-dead stain of osteoblast cells(MC3 T3-E1). It was found that the MMT-BSA coating had good corrosion resistance and a marked improvement in biocompatibility in comparison to bare Mg alloy AZ31. in vivo studies were carried out in rat model and the degradation was characterized by computed tomography scans. Results revealed that the MMT-BSA coated Mg alloy AZ31 implants maintained their structural integrity and slight degradation after 120 d of post-implantation. A100% survival rate for the rats was observed with no obvious toxic damages on the organs and tissues.Additionally, we proposed a sound coating formation mechanism. | 4 | Simultaneous elution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals from contaminated soil by two amino acids derived from β-cyclodextrins显示文摘Two highly water-soluble amino acids,which derived from β-CDs,i.e.,glutamic acid-β-cyclodextrin (GluCD) and ethylene-diamineβ-cyclodextrin (EDCD),were synthesized and were examined for their effect on solubilization of anthracene (ANT),complexation of cadmium (Cd2+),and elution removal of ANT and Cd2+ in soil.The results showed that GluCD and EDCD were powerful complexant for ANT and Cd2+.In the presence of 10 g/L GluCD and EDCD,the solubilization of ANT increased by 47.04 and 23.85 times compared to the control,respectively.GluCD resulted in approximately 90% complexation of Cd2+ while 70% complexation was observed for EDCD.Simultaneously,GluCD and EDCD could greatly enhance the elution removal of ANT and Cd 2+ from soil.GluCD resulted in the highest elution efficiency of ANT and Cd2+.With the addition of 10 g/L GluCD,53.5% of ANT and 85.6% of Cd2+ were eluted,respectively.The ANT had a negligible effect on the Cd2+ removal due to different complexing sites of ANT and Cd2+,while Cd2+ enhanced the ANT removal under the addition of GluCD because Cd2+ neutralized the-COOH group of GluCD.Adversely,the removal of ANT was decreased with Cd2+ under the addition of EDCD,this was due to the fact that Cd2+ enhanced the polarity of EDCD molecule and inhibited the complexation between ANT and EDCD.The study suggested that GluCD could be preferred and be successfully applied to remediation of heavy metals or organic compounds in contaminated soil. | Chengjian Yang Qingru Zeng Yunzhong Wang Bohan Liao Jian Sun Hui Shi Xingdou Chen | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12: | 7 |
| 5 | A Study of the Characteristics of Microorganisms for Effective Degradation of Marine Oil Spills显示文摘Four microorganism strains were isolated from coastal petroleum-polluted soil and sand samples of Bohai Sea oilfield; they were found to degrade marine oil spills effectively. The experimental results show that the degradation efficiency of crude oil with these four strains (XT-4, SZ-1-25, B-4-9, BS-3-12) is 95.97%, 96.01%, 97.99% and 98.99%, respectively, in their optimum conditions. The characteristics of bacterial biodegradation are investigated. By means of this comparison, density distributions of the last neutron in the ground state and the first 1/2+ state of 13C are extracted. The properties of these states in 13C have also been studied in the framework of the nonlinear relativistic mean-field theory with NL-SH parameters. | 13 | Biodegradation of N,N-dimethylacetamide by Rhodococcus sp.strain B83 isolated from the rhizosphere of pagoda tree显示文摘The biodegradation characteristic and potential metabolic pathway for removal of environmental N,N-dimethylacetamide(DMAC) by Rhodococcus sp. strain B83 was studied.Rhodococcus sp. strain B83 was isolated from the rhizosphere of a pagoda tree and proved capable of utilizing DMAC as sole source of carbon and nitrogen. Batch culture studies showed that strain B83 could tolerate up to 25 g/L DMAC and showed distinct growth on possible catabolic intermediates except for acetate. The nitrogen balance analysis revealed that approximately 71% of the initial nitrogen was converted to organic nitrogen. DMAC degradation has led to accumulation of acetate and organic nitrogen, meanwhile traces of nitrate and ammonia was build-up but without nitrite. The growth of strain B83 could be inhibited by adding exogenous acetate. | 15 | In situ FTIR investigation on phase transformations in BN nanoparticles显示文摘Fourier transformation infrared spectrum (FTIR) was employed to investigate phase transformation of nanoparticle BN, containing eBN, rBN, wBN and cBN, in which eBN and rBN are the main components. We found that part of eBN was converted into rBN at 200―350℃. At and above 400℃, eBN transformed into wBN, and some of wBN were converted into cBN simultaneously. This conclusion is supported by the results from high- resolution transmission electron microscopic (HRTEM) and Raman spectroscopic measurements. In this work, the converting processes be- tween different BN phases were continuously monitored by in situ FTIR spectroscopy. | 19 | Ag-Pd alloy decorated ZnIn_(2)S_(4) microspheres with optimal Schottky barrier height for boosting visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution显示文摘Rapid charge carrier recombination rate and insufficient light harvesting capacity are two dominat-ing drawbacks encountered in zinc indium sulfide(ZnIn_(2)S_(4))for photocatalytic applications.Herein,a chemical reduction method was performed to combine bimetallic Ag-Pd alloy nanoparticles(NPs)with spherical-like ZnIn_(2)S_(4)(ZIS).By optimizing Ag:Pd molar ratio and overall loading amount,the optimal Ag_(0.25)Pd_(0.75)-ZIS sample exhibited a maximum H_(2)evolution rate(125.4μmol/h)under visible light,which was higher than that of ZIS,Ag-ZIS and Pd-ZIS.The loading of Ag NPs contribution to PHE reaction by its plasmonic effect was negligible compared to that of Pd loading(Schottky effect).The apparent quan-tum yield(AQY)values over Ag_(0.25)Pd_(0.75)-ZIS sample could reach up to 18.3%at 400 nm and 15.8%at 420 nm.The enhanced activity for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE)over Ag_(0.25)Pd_(0.75)-ZIS sample was mainly due to the bimetallic synergistic effect that presented as follows.Firstly,the plasmon hy-bridization by loading Ag-Pd bimetallic alloy can significantly increase light harvesting capacity of ZIS.Secondly,the optimal Schottky barrier height formed between Ag-Pd alloy and ZIS interface was benefi-cial for prolonging electron-hole pair lifetimes,promoting charge carrier separation and thus facilitating PHE efficiency.Density functional theory(DFT)analysis indicated that the adsorption energy of H∗over Pd_(0.75)Ag_(0.25)alloy was very close to zero and thus theoretically possessed the highest activity for H_(2)evo-lution,which is in line with experimental results.Combined theoretical calculation with experimental results,a reasonable photocatalytic mechanism was proposed and verified. | Chao Liu Yulong Zhang Jiaxin Wu Hailu Dai Chengjian Ma Qinfang Zhang Zhigang Zou | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,19: | 1 |
| 20 | Revisiting the elastic solution for an inner-pressured functionally graded thick-walled tube within a uniform magnetic field显示文摘In this paper, the mechanical responses of a thick-walled functionally graded hollow cylinder subject to a uniform magnetic field and inner-pressurized loads are studied. Rather than directly assume the material constants as some specific function forms displayed in pre-studies, we firstly give the volume fractions of different constituents of the functionally graded material(FGM) cylinder and then determine the expressions of the material constants. With the use of the Voigt method, the corresponding analytical solutions of displacements in the radial direction, the strain and stress components, and the perturbation magnetic field vector are derived. In the numerical part, the effects of the volume fraction on the displacement, strain and stress components, and the magnetic perturbation field vector are investigated.
