1Anti-inflammatory activity of curcumin-loaded tetrahedral framework nucleic acids on acute gouty arthritis显示文摘Gouty arthritis is a very familiar inflammatory arthritis.Controlling inflammation is the key to preventing gouty arthritis.However,colchicine,the most highly represented drug used in clinical practice,has strict contraindications owing to some severe side effects.Curcumin(Cur),a natural anti-inflammatory drug,has demonstrated good safety and efficacy.However,the rapid degradation,poor aqueous solubility,and low bioavailability of Cur limit its therapeutic effect.To strengthen the effectiveness and bioavailability of Cur.Cur loaded tetrahedral framework nucleic acids(Cur-TFNAs)were synthesized to deliver Cur.Compared with free Cur,Cur-TFNAs exhibit a preferable drug stability,good biocompatibility(CCK-8 assay),ease of uptake(immunofluorescence),and higher tissue utilization(in vivo biodistribution).Most importantly,Cur-TFNAs present better anti-inflammatory effect than free Cur both in vivo and in vitro experiments through the determination of inflammation-related cytokines expression.Therefore,we believe that Cur-TFNAs have great prospects for the prevention of gout and similar inflammatory diseases.Mei Zhang Xiaolin Zhang Taoran Tian Qi Zhang Yuting Wen Junyao Zhu Dexuan Xiao Weitong Cui Yunfeng Lin 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,2:10
2Modeling the radiation balance of different urban underlying surfaces显示文摘An urban net all-wave radiation parameterization scheme is evaluated using annual datasets for 2010 recorded at a Beijing urban observation site.The statistical relationship between observed data and simulation data of net radiation has a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and model efficiency of 0.93.Therefore,it can be used to simulate the radiation balance of Beijing.This study analyzes the variation in the radiation balance for different underlying surfaces.To simulate radiation balance differences,we set four pure land-cover types(forest,grass,roads,and buildings).Keeping all other conditions inputted unchanged,we model the radiation balance by changing the land-cover type.The results show that the effects of different underlying surfaces on radiation differ,and that there is much upward long-wave radiation,accounting for 84.3% of the total radiation energy falling incident on the land surface.The annual averages of net radiation for the four land-cover types are in the range of 38.2-53.4 W/m2.The net radiation of the grass surface is minimal while that of the roads surface is maximal.Additionally,with urbanization the net radiation values of common types of land-cover change,such as conversion from forest to roads,grass to roads,and grass to buildings,all have increasing trends,indicating that net radiation usually increases with urban sprawl.CUI YaoPing LIU JiYuan HU YunFeng WANG JunBang KUANG WenHui 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,9:9
3Frequency-modulated continuous waves controlled by space-time-coding metasurface with nonlinearly periodic phases显示文摘The rapid development of space-time-coding metasurfaces(STCMs)offers a new avenue to manipulate spatial electromagnetic beams,waveforms,and frequency spectra simultaneously with high efficiency.To date,most studies are primarily focused on harmonic generations and independent controls of finite-order harmonics and their spatial waves,but the manipulations of continuously temporal waveforms that include much rich frequency spectral components are still limited in both theory and experiment based on STCM.Here,we propose a theoretical framework and method to generate frequency-modulated continuous waves(FMCWs)and control their spatial propagation behaviors simultaneously via a novel STCM with nonlinearly periodic phases.Since the carrier frequency of FMCW changes with time rapidly,we can produce customized time-varying reflection phases at will by the required FMCW under the illumination of a monochromatic wave.More importantly,the propagation directions of the time-varying beams can be controlled by encoding the metasurface with different initial phase gradients.A programmable STCM prototype with a full-phase range is designed and fabricated to realize reprogrammable FMCW functions,and experimental results show good agreement with the theoretical analyses.Jun Chen Ke Jun Yan Dai Jun Wei Zhang Zhanye Chen Ming Zheng Chen Yunfeng Lu Lei Zhang Li Wang Qun Yan Zhou Long Li Jin Shan Ding Qiang Cheng Tie Jun Cui 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,10:4
4Japanese Encephalitis Virus NS1' Protein Antagonizes Interferon Beta Production显示文摘Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV) is a mosquito-borne virus and the major cause of viral encephalitis in Asia. NS1', a52-amino acid C-terminal extension of NS1, is generated with a-1 programmed ribosomal frameshift and is only present in members of the Japanese encephalitis serogroup of flaviviruses. Previous studies demonstrated that NS1' plays a vital role in virulence, but the mechanism is unclear. In this study, an NS1' defected(rG66A) virus was generated. We found that rG66A virus was less virulent than its parent virus(pSA14) in wild-type mice. However, similar mortality caused by the two viruses was observed in an IFNAR knockout mouse model. Moreover, we found that rG66A virus induced a greater type Ⅰ interferon(IFN) response than that by pSA14, and JEV NS1' significantly inhibited the production of IFN-b and IFN-stimulated genes. 13Effect of tetrahedral DNA nanostructures on LPS-induced neuroinflammation in mice显示文摘Neuroinflammation plays a significant role in inducing depression-like behavior. Tetrahedral DNA nanostructures(TDNs) are molecules that exhibit anti-inflammatory properties and can effectively penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Thus, researchers have hypothesized that TDNs regulate the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines and consequently alleviate depression-like behavior. To test this hypothesis, we investigated the effect of TDNs on the depression-like behavior of C57 mice induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). We performed open-field, tail suspension, and sucrose preference tests on LPS-and LPS/TDNtreated mice. The results indicated that the injection of TDNs into LPS-treated mice resulted in increased velocity, center zone duration, frequency to the center zone, and sucrose preference, and decreased immobility time. Immunofluorescence results indicated that peripheral administration of LPS in the mice activated inflammation, which culminated in distinct depression-like behavior. However, TDNs effectively alleviated the inflammation and depression-like behavior through the reduction of the expression levels of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α in the brain. Additionally, TDNs normalized the expression level of microglia cell activation markers, such as ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1, in the hippocampus of mice. 14Tetrahedral framework nucleic acids promote scarless healing of cutaneous wounds via the AKT-signaling pathway显示文摘While the skin is considered the first line of defense in the human body,there are some vulnerabilities that render it susceptible to certain threats,which is an issue that is recognized by both patients and doctors.Cutaneous wound healing is a series of complex processes that involve many types of cells,such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes.This study showed that tetrahedral framework nucleic acids(tFNAs),a type of self-assembled nucleic-acid material,have the ability to promote keratinocyte(HaCaT cell line)and fibroblast(HSF cell line)proliferation and migration in vitro.In addition,tFNAs increased the secretion of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in HSF cells and reduced the production of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β)in HaCaT cells by activating the AKT-signaling pathway.During in vivo experiments,tFNA treatments accelerated the healing process in skin wounds and decreased the development of scars,compared with the control treatment that did not use tFNAs.This is the first study to demonstrate that nanophase materials with the biological features of nucleic acids accelerate the healing of cutaneous wounds and reduce scarring,which indicates the potential application of tFNAs in skin tissue regeneration.Junyao Zhu Mei Zhang Yang Gao Xin Qin Tianxu Zhang Weitong Cui Chenchen Mao Dexuan Xiao Yunfeng Lin 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:1

16Estimation of the minimum miscibility pressure for CO_(2)ecrude-oil systems by molecular dynamics simulation显示文摘CO_(2)injection is an effective enhanced oil recovery technique for energy security with the benefits of carbon neutrality.To reach the maximum oil recovery,the miscible condition between CO_(2)and oil needs to be maintained in the reservoir,which requires the operation pressure to be higher than the minimum miscibility pressure(MMP).There are two types of MMPs:the first-contact MMP(FC-MMP)and the multi-contact MMP(MC-MMP).In this study,molecular dynamics simulations were performed for the CO_(2)eoil interface system using two simplified digital oil models:a Bakken dead oil with four lumping components and a live-crude-oil model with 50 types of oil molecules but with no asphaltenes and heavy oil fractions.The vanishing interfacial tension method was used to predict the MMP.Different CO_(2)eoil volume ratios were considered to mimic the different degrees of vaporization.To estimate the MMP accurately and rapidly,the interfacial tension in the low-pressure regime was used for the prediction.Consequently,different MMPs were obtained,where the MMP value increased with increasing CO_(2)eoil volume ratio.FC-MMP can be predicted when the CO_(2)eoil volume ratio is sufficiently high.When the CO_(2)eoil volume ratio was approximately 9e10,MMP was closest to the actual MC-MMP value.The condensing and vaporizing mechanism was also studied at the molecular scale.Because pure CO_(2)was used,only the vaporizing effect on MMP occurred.It was found that the intermediate C2eC6 components have the main effect on the MMP calculation.This study can help to establish a computational protocol to estimate FC-MMP and MC-MMP,which are widely used in reservoir engineering.Wuge Cui Yunfeng Liang Yoshihiro Masuda Takeshi Tsuji Toshifumi Matsuoka Haruka Takahashi 2023Petroleum Research2023,8,1:0

19In situ confined vertical growth of Co_(2.5)Ni_(0.5)Si_(2)O_(5)(OH)_(4)nanoarrays on rGO for an efficient oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘Rational design of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)catalysts at low cost would greatly benefit the economy.Taking advantage of earth-abundant elements Si,Co and Ni,we produce a unique-structure where cobalt-nickel silicate hydroxide[Co_(2.5)Ni_(0.5)Si_(2)O_(5)(OH)_(4)]is vertically grown on a reduced graphene oxide(rGO)support(CNS@rGO).This is developed as a low-cost and prospective OER catalyst.Compared to cobalt or nickel silicate hydroxide@rGO(CS@rGO and NS@rGO,respectively)nanoarrays,the bimetal CNS@rGO nanoarray exhibits impressive OER performance with an overpotential of 307 mV@10 mA cm^(-2).This value is higher than that of CS@rGO and NS@rGO.The CNS@rGO nanoarray has an overpotential of 446 mV@100 mA cm^(-2),about 1.4 times that of the commercial RuO_(2)electrocatalyst.The achieved OER activity is superior to the state-of-the-art metal oxides/hydroxides and their derivatives.The vertically grown nanostructure and optimized metal-support electronic interactions play an indispensable role for OER performance improvement,including a fast electron transfer pathway,short proton/electron diffusion distance,more active metal centers,as well as optimized dualatomic electron density.Taking advantage of interlay chemical regulation and the in-situ growth method,the advanced-structural CNS@rGO nanoarrays provide a new horizon to the rational and flexible design of efficient and promising OER electrocatalysts.Yang Mu Xiaoyu Pei Yunfeng Zhao Xueying Dong Zongkui Kou Miao Cui Changgong Meng Yifu Zhang 2023Nano Materials Science2023,5,4:0
20Anthelmintics nitazoxanide protects against experimental hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis in hamsters and mice显示文摘Lipid metabolism disorders contribute to hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis.It is ideal to develop drugs simultaneous improving both hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis.Nitazoxanide is an FDA-approved oral antiprotozoal drug with excellent pharmacokinetic and safety profile.We found that nitazoxanide and its metabolite tizoxanide induced mild mitochondrial uncoupling and subsequently activated AMPK in Hep G2 cells.Gavage administration of nitazoxanide inhibited high-fat diet(HFD)-induced increases of liver weight,blood and liver lipids,and ameliorated HFD-induced renal lipid accumulation in hamsters.Nitazoxanide significantly improved HFD-induced histopathologic changes of hamster livers.In the hamsters with pre-existing hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis,nitazoxanide also showed therapeutic effect.Gavage administration of nitazoxanide improved HFD-induced hepatic steatosis in C57BL/6J mice and western diet(WD)-induced hepatic steatosis in Apoe-/-mice.The present study suggests that repurposing nitazoxanide as a drug for hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis treatment is promising.Fengfeng Li Man Jiang Minghui Ma Xuyang Chen Yidan Zhang Yixin Zhang Yuanyuan Yu Yunfeng Cui Jiahui Chen Hui Zhao Zhijie Sun Deli Dong 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,3:0
