2Compact and broadband multimode waveguide bend by shape-optimizing with transformation optics显示文摘Multimode waveguide bend is one of the key components for realizing high-density mode-division multiplexing systems on chip.However,the reported multimode waveguide bends are either large,bandwidth-limited or fabrication-complicated,which hinders their applications in future high-density multimode photonic circuits.Here we propose a compact multimode waveguide bend supporting four TE modes simply by shape-optimizing with transformation optics.The shape of the waveguide is optimized in the virtual space with gradient distribution of the refractive index,so that the scattering loss and intermode cross talk are well suppressed.After conformal mapping back into the physical space,a compact(effective radius of 17μm)multimode bending waveguide is obtained.Simulations show that the proposed multimode waveguide bend has little loss(<0.1 dB)and low cross talk(<−20 dB)throughout an ultrabroad wavelength range of 1.16–1.66μm.We also fabricated the shape-optimized multimode bending waveguide on a silicon-on-insulator wafer.At 1550 nm wavelength,the measured excess losses for the four lowest-order TE modes are less than 0.6 dB,and the intermode cross talks are all below−17 dB.Our study paves the way for realizing high-density and large-scale multimode integrated optical circuits for optical interconnect.SHUYI LI LIFENG CAI DINGSHAN GAO JIANJI DONG JIN HOU CHUNYONG YANG SHAOPING CHEN XINLIANG ZHANG 2020Photonics Research2020,8,12:3
3Pharmacokinetics and Biodegradation of Chitosan in Rats显示文摘Chitosan, an excellent biomedical material, has received a widespread in vivo application. In contrast, its metabolism and distribution once being implanted were less documented. In this study, the pharmacokinetics and biodegradation of fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC) labeled and muscle implantation administrated chitosan in rats were investigated with fluorescence spectrophotometry, histological assay and gel chromatography. After implantation, chitosan was degraded gradually during its distribution to diverse organs. Among the tested organs, liver and kidney were found to be the first two highest in chitosan content, which was followed by heart, brain and spleen. Urinary excretion was believed to be the major pathway of chitosan elimination, yet 80% of chitosan administered to rats was not trackable in their urine. This indicated that the majority of chitosan was degraded in tissues. In average, the molecular weight of the degradation products of chitosan in diverse organs and urine was found to be <65 k Da. This further confirmed the in vivo degradation of chitosan. 5Distributed Fault-Tolerant Containment Control for Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems Under Directed Network Topology via Hierarchical Approach显示文摘This paper investigates the distributed fault-tolerant containment control(FTCC)problem of nonlinear multi-agent systems(MASs)under a directed network topology.The proposed control framework which is independent on the global information about the communication topology consists of two layers.Different from most existing distributed fault-tolerant control(FTC)protocols where the fault in one agent may propagate over network,the developed control method can eliminate the phenomenon of fault propagation.Based on the hierarchical control strategy,the FTCC problem with a directed graph can be simplified to the distributed containment control of the upper layer and the fault-tolerant tracking control of the lower layer.Finally,simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control protocol.Shuyi Xiao Jiuxiang Dong 2021IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021,8,4:1

9Genetic diversity of coronaviruses in Miniopterus fuliginosus bats显示文摘Coronaviruses, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus, pose significant public health threats. Bats have been suggested to act as natural reservoirs for both these viruses, and periodic monitoring of coronaviruses in bats may thus provide important clues about emergent infectious viruses. The Eastern bent-wing bat Miniopterus fuliginosus is distributed extensively throughout China. We therefore analyzed the genetic diversity of coronaviruses in samples of M. fuliginosus collected from nine Chinese provinces during 2011–2013. The only coronavirus genus found was Alphacoronavirus. We established six complete and five partial genomic sequences of alphacoronaviruses, which revealed that they could be divided into two distinct lineages, with close relationships to coronaviruses in Miniopterus magnater and Miniopterus pusillus. Recombination was confirmed by detecting putative breakpoints of Lineage 1 coronaviruses in M. fuliginosus and M. pusillus(Wu et al., 2015), which supported the results of topological and phylogenetic analyses. The established alphacoronavirus genome sequences showed high similarity to other alphacoronaviruses found in other Miniopterus species, suggesting that their transmission in different Miniopterus species may provide opportunities for recombination with different alphacoronaviruses. 10A facile template free synthesis of porous carbon nanospheres with high capacitive performance显示文摘Porous carbon nanospheres have been widely used in different fields such as electric devices, catalysts, and water treatment. Here we will introduce a template-free process for the preparation of porous carbon nanospheres starting from a direct 3-aminophenol formaldehyde polymerization in a mixed solution. We identify that the addition of different alcohols, particularly ethanol and nbutanol, is able to change the growth habit of the polymer nanospheres and introduce a favorable inner compositional homogeneity for the preparation of porous structure. 12Cell reprogramming therapy for Parkinson’s disease显示文摘Parkinson’s disease is typically characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta.Many studies have been performed based on the supplementation of lost dopaminergic neurons to treat Parkinson’s disease.The initial strategy for cell replacement therapy used human fetal ventral midbrain and human embryonic stem cells to treat Parkinson’s disease,which could substantially alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease in clinical practice.However,ethical issues and tumor formation were limitations of its clinical application.Induced pluripotent stem cells can be acquired without sacrificing human embryos,which eliminates the huge ethical barriers of human stem cell therapy.Another widely considered neuronal regeneration strategy is to directly reprogram fibroblasts and astrocytes into neurons,without the need for intermediate proliferation states,thus avoiding issues of immune rejection and tumor formation.Both induced pluripotent stem cells and direct reprogramming of lineage cells have shown promising results in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.However,there are also ethical concerns and the risk of tumor formation that need to be addressed.This review highlights the current application status of cell reprogramming in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease,focusing on the use of induced pluripotent stem cells in cell replacement therapy,including preclinical animal models and progress in clinical research.The review also discusses the advancements in direct reprogramming of lineage cells in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease,as well as the controversy surrounding in vivo reprogramming.These findings suggest that cell reprogramming may hold great promise as a potential strategy for treating Parkinson’s disease.Wenjing Dong Shuyi Liu Shangang Li Zhengbo Wang 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,11:0
13Globular adiponectin-mediated vascular remodeling by affecting the secretion of adventitial-derived tumor necrosis factor-αinduced by urotensinⅡ显示文摘Objectives:In this study,we explored how adiponectin mediated urotensinⅡ(UⅡ)-induced tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)andα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)expression and ensuing intracellular signaling pathways in adventitial fibroblasts(AFs).Methods:Growth-arrested AFs and rat tunica adventitia of vessels were incubated with UⅡand inhibitors of signal transduction pathways for 1-24 h.The cells were then harvested for TNF-αreceptor(TNF-α-R)messenger RNA(mRNA)and TNF-αprotein expression determination by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),respectively.Adiponectin and adiponectin receptor(adipoR)expression was measured by RT-PCR,quantitative real-time PCR(qPCR),immunohistochemical analysis,and cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)cell proliferation experiments.We then quantified TNF-αandα-SMA mRNA and protein expression levels by qPCR and immunofluorescence(IF)staining.RNA interference(RNAi)was used to explore the function of the adipoR genes.To investigate the signaling pathway,we applied western blotting(WB)to examine phosphorylation of adenosine 5’-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK).In vivo,an adiponectin(APN)-knockout(APN-KO)mouse model mimicking adventitial inflammation was generated to measure TNF-αandα-SMA expression by application of qPCR and IF,with the goal of gaining a comprehensive atlas of adiponectin in vascular remodeling.Results:In both cells and tissues,UⅡpromoted TNF-αprotein and TNF-α-R secretion in a dose-and time-dependent manner via Rho/protein kinase C(PKC)pathway.We detected marked expression of adipoR1,T-cadherin,and calreticulin as well as a moderate presence of adipoR2 in AFs,while no adiponectin was observed.Globular adiponectin(gAd)fostered the growth of AFs,and acted in concert with UⅡto induceα-SMA and TNF-αthrough the adipoR1/T-cadherin/calreticulin/AMPK pathway.In AFs,gAd and UⅡsynergistically induced AMPK phosphorylation.In the adventitial inflammation model,APN deficiency up-regulated the expression ofα-SMA,UⅡreceptor(UT),and UⅡwhile inhibiting TNF-αexpression.Conclusions:From the results of our study,we can speculate that UⅡinduces TNF-αprotein and TNF-α-R secretion in AFs and rat tunica adventitia of vessels via the Rho and PKC signal transduction pathways.Thus,it is plausible that adiponectin is a major player in adventitial progression and could serve as a novel therapeutic target for cardiovascular disease administration.Jun LI Limin LUO Yonggang ZHANG Xiao DONG Shuyi DANG Xiaogang GUO Wenhui DING 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,12:0
14Study on Physical Characteristics of a Precipitation Cloud System in Hebei Province in Spring by Aircraft Observation显示文摘Using data of airborne particle measurement system, weather radar and Ka-band millimeter wave cloud-meter, physical structure characteristics of a typical stable stratiform cloud in Hebei Province on February 27, 2018 was analyzed. Research results showed that the detected cloud system was the precipitation stratiform cloud in the later stage of development. The cloud layer developed stably, and the vertical structure was unevenly distributed. The concentration of small cloud particles in high-level clouds was low, and it fluctuated greatly in space, and presented a discontinuous distribution state. The concentration of large cloud particles and precipitation particles was high, which was conducive to the growth of cloud droplets and the aggregation of ice crystals. The concentration of small cloud particles and the content of supercooled water were high in the middle and low-level clouds. The precipitation cloud system had a significant hierarchical structure, which conformed to the 'catalysis-supply' mechanism. From the upper layer to the lower layer, the cloud particle spectrum was mainly in the form of single peak or double peak distribution, which showed a monotonic decreasing trend in general. The spectral distribution of small cloud particles in the cloud was discontinuous, and the high-value areas of spectral concentration of large cloud particles and precipitation particles were concentrated in the upper part of the cloud layer, and the particle spectrum was significantly widened. 15The Application of HE4 in Diagnosis of Gynecological Pelvic Malignant Tumor显示文摘OBJECTIVE To investigate the value of human epididymis geneproduct 4 (HE4) in differential diagnosis of gynecological pelvictumors.METHODS The level of serum HE4 in 132 women wasdetermined. These women were divided into three groups, i.e.,46 women with good health being classified as the normal control(NC) group, and based on clinicopathological results, the other 86with pelvic masses being classified into groups of benign (n = 56)and malignant lesions (n = 30), respectively.RESULTS The range of serum HE4 in the NC group was(23.5~46.0) pmol/L, with an average value of (34.1 ± 5.6) pmol/L;the range of serum HE4 in the benign lesion group was (30.1~58.9)pmol/L, with an average value of (39.1 ± 7.2) pmol/L; the range ofserum HE4 in the group of malignancy was (31.2~1430.0) pmol/L,and the average value was (248.7 ± 364.5) pmol/L. The level ofHE4 in the malignant lesion group was significantly higher thanthat in the other 2 groups, with a statistical difference, P < 0.001.The diagnostic index reached maximum (0.847) when the serumHE4 was at 51.6 pmol/L, and the sensitivity and specificity of HE4were 86.7% and 98.0%, respectively. The area under the receiver-operator characteristic curve (ROC) was 0.935 (95% CI 0.832~1.037,P = 0.000). 16Recent Developments in Artificial Intelligence in Oceanography显示文摘With the availability of petabytes of oceanographic observations and numerical model simulations,artificial intelligence(AI)tools are being increasingly leveraged in a variety of applications.In this paper,these applications are reviewed from the perspectives of identifying,forecasting,and parameterizing ocean phenomena.Specifically,the usage of AI algorithms for the identification of mesoscale eddies,internal waves,oil spills,sea ice,and marine algae are discussed in this paper.Additionally,AI-based forecasting of surface waves,the El Niño Southern Oscillation,and storm surges is discussed.This is followed by a discussion on the usage of these schemes to parameterize oceanic turbulence and atmospheric moist physics.Moreover,physics-informed deep learning and neural networks are discussed within an oceanographic context,and further applications with ocean digital twins and physics-constrained AI algorithms are described.This review is meant to introduce beginners and experts in the marine sciences to AI methodologies and stimulate future research toward the usage of causality-adherent physics-informed neural networks and Fourier neural networks in oceanography.Changming Dong Guangjun Xu Guoqing Han Brandon JBethel Wenhong Xie Shuyi Zhou 2022Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Research2022,1,1:0
