| 3 | Multipoint observations of Pi2 pulsations and correlation with dynamic processes in the near-Earth magnetotail on March 18,2009显示文摘Simultaneous measurements from THEMIS spacecraft,GOES-11 and ground stations(Canadian Array for Realtime Investigations of Magnetic Activity or CARISMA,and 210°magnetic meridian or MM)on March 18,2009 allow the study of dynamic processes in the near-Earth magnetotail and corresponding Pi2 pulsations on the ground in great detail.Fast earthward flows along with traveling Alfvén waves and fast mode waves in the Pi2 band were observed by three Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms(THEMIS)probes(P3,P4 and P5)in the near-Earth plasmasheet.At the mid-to high-latitude nightside,the CARISMA stations located near the foot points of the three probes recorded Pi2s with two periods,about 80 s after the earthward fast flows observed by the P4 probe.The long-period Pi2(140–150 s)belongs to the transient response Pi2(TR Pi2),since the travel time of the Alfvén waves between the plasma sheet and CARISMA stations is very close to half the period of the long-period Pi2.The short-period Pi2(60–80 s)has the same period band as the perpendicular velocity of the fast flows,which indicates that it may relate to the inertial current caused by periodic braking of the earthward fast flows.The 210°MM stations located at the low-latitude duskside also observed Pi2s with the same start time,waveform and frequency,about^120 s after the earthward fast flows.Strong poloidal oscillations are shown by GOES-11(~23 MLT)and the compressional component(Bb)is highly correlated with H components of the 210°MM stations,whereas the other two components(Br and Be)are not.These results confirm that the low-latitude Pi2s are generated by cavity mode resonance,which is driven by an impulsive broadband source in the near-Earth magnetotail. | LUO Hao CHEN GengXiong DU AiMin | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,2: | 5 |

| 5 | Energy budget of the magnetosphere-ionosphere system in solar Cycle 23显示文摘The energy budget of the magnetosphere-ionosphere (MI) system during 1998-2008 was examined by using Akasofu's epsilon function. The results showed that 1) the yearly average rate of solar wind energy input into the MI system was 4.51 GGJ (GGJ=1018 J), while the yearly average total dissipation was 4.30 GGJ; 2) the energy partitioning in the ring current and polar region was 56%:44%; 3) the energy input and dissipation processes continuously proceeded both in storm-substorm events and less disturbed intervals, suggesting the significant contribution of slow but long-lasting energy process during the less disturbance periods to the total energy budget. In addition, we found in this study an interesting phenomenon 'self-adjustment ability' of the MI system which behaves just like a water reservoir. During solar active years, the input energy is more than the dissipated energy, implying that a portion of the input energy is not immediately released, but is stored in the magnetosphere. | 6 | On the source of the quasi-Carrington Rotation periodic magnetic variations on the Martian surface: InSight observations and modeling显示文摘In a recent paper(Luo H et al.,2022),we found that the peak amplitudes of diurnal magnetic variations,measured during martian days(sols)at the InSight landing site,exhibited quasi Carrington-Rotation(qCR)periods at higher eigenmodes of the natural orthogonal components(NOC);these results were based on~664 sols of magnetic field measurements.However,the source of these periodic variations is still unknown.In this paper we introduce the neutral-wind driven ionospheric dynamo current model(e.g.,Lillis et al.,2019)to investigate the source.Four candidates-the draped IMF,electron density/plasma density,the neutral densities,and the electron temperature in the ionosphere with artificial qCR periodicity,are applied in the modeling to find the main factor likely to be causing the observed surface magnetic field variations that exhibit the same qCR periods.Results show that the electron density/plasma density,which controls the total conductivity in the dynamo region,appears to account for the greatest part of the surface qCR variations;its contribution reaches about 67.6%.The draped IMF,the neutral densities,and the electron temperature account,respectively,for only about 12.9%,10.3%,and 9.2%of the variations.Our study implies that the qCR magnetic variations on the Martian surface are due primarily to variations of the dynamo currents caused by the electron density variations.We suggest also that the timevarying fields with the qCR period could be used to probe the Martian interior's electrical conductivity structure to a depth of at least 700 km. | Hao Luo AiMin Du ShaoHua Zhang YaSong Ge Ying Zhang ShuQuan Sun Lin Zhao Lin Tian SongYan Li | 2022 | Earth and Planetary Physics2022,6,3: | 2 |

| 8 | Investigation of the SA evolution by using the CHAOS-4 model over 1997–2013显示文摘The temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of the geomagnetic secular acceleration(SA) are investigated, based on CHAOS-4 core field model during the period of 1997–2013. The SA evolution on a short time scale is associated with the phenomenon of the geomagnetic jerk. More details of the global extent and the occurrence time of the successive jerks(the 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011 jerks) are obtained. The location, size and reversed polarity pattern for the 1999 jerk are similar to those for the 2003 jerk in the Asian-Indian sector. While the 2007 and 2011 jerks mainly take place in the Atlantic sector. The direction and speed of the shift for the four jerks are different, identified by the occurrence time of the jerks. The zonal motions of the SA patches exhibit an oscillation pattern in the Asian-Indian sector, whereas a purely westward drifting pattern is along the equator in the Atlantic sector. | 9 | Generation of transgenic cucumbers with expression of a ten-tandem repeat long-acting GLP-1 analogue and their biological function on diabetic rats显示文摘Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a 30-amino acid peptide hormone, which has the regulatory function of stimulating the secretion of insulin to balance blood glucose levels. In this study, marker-free expression vector pX6 with a fusion gene of ten tandem repeated GLP-1 analog ([Ser8, Gln26 and Asp34]-GLP-1) genes was constructed and transformed into cucumbers by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation method. Four transgenic lines were obtained by PCR and Southern blotting analysis and two transgenic lines successfully expressed the fusion protein (named GLP-T), which was revealed by Western blotting analysis. The biological activity test results showed that the serum glucose level of diabetic rats was significantly decreased after oral administration of the fusion protein GLP-T extracted from the transgenic cucumber fruitage. | 13 | Pressure gradient evolution in the near-Earth magnetotail at the arrival of BBFs显示文摘Using in situ observations from THEMIS A, D and E during the 2008–2011 tail season, we present a statistical study of the evolution of pressure gradients in the near-Earth tail during bursty bulk flow(BBF) convection.We identified 138 substorm BBFs and 2,197 non-substorm BBFs for this study. We found that both the pressure and the BZcomponent of the magnetic field were enhanced at the arrival of BBFs at the spacecraft locations. We suggest that the increase of BZduring non-substorm BBFs is associated with flux pile-up. However, the much stronger enhancement of BZduring substorm BBFs implies the occurrence of magnetic field dipolarization which is caused by both the flux pile-up process and near-Earth current disruption. Furthermore, a bow-wave-like high pressure appears to be formed at the arrival of substorm BBFs,which is responsible for the formation of region-1-sense FACs. The azimuthal pressure gradient associated with the arrival of substorm BBFs lasts for about 5 min. The enhanced pressure gradient associated with the bow waveis caused by the braking and diversion of the Earthward flow in the inner plasma sheet. | 14 | Latitudinal shift and tilt of the ring current during magnetic storms显示文摘The equatorial ring current (ERC) theory suggested that the distribution of global disturbed horizontal geomagnetic field only depends on the cosine of station’s latitude. However,we always observe a lar-ger ΔH at higher latitude stations than lower ones,implying that the ERC could tilt or/and shift with respect to the equatorial plane during intense storms. In this paper,we analyze 11 intense magnetic storms from 2000 to 2004,and introduce two configurational factors to characterize the topology of storm time ring current. | 20 | A case study of large-amplitude ULF waves in the Martian foreshock显示文摘Foreshock ultralow frequency (ULF) waves constitute a significant physical phenomenon in the plasma environment of terrestrial planets. The occurrence of these waves, associated with backstreaming particles reflected and accelerated at the bow shock, implies specific conditions and properties of the shock and its foreshock. Using magnetic field and ion measurements from MAVEN, we report a clear event of ULF waves in the Martian foreshock. The interplanetary magnetic field connected to the Martian bow shock, forming a shock angle of ~51°. Indicating that this was a fast mode wave is the fact that ion density varied in phase with perturbations of the wave field. The peak frequency of the waves was about 0.040 Hz in the spacecraft frame, much lower than the local proton gyrofrequency (~0.088 Hz). The ULF waves had a propagation angle approximately 34° from ambient magnetic field and were accompanied by the whistler mode. The ULF waves displayed left-hand elliptical polarization with respect to the interplanetary magnetic field in the spacecraft frame.
